I don't understand the hype behind this restaurant. Yes, it looks beautiful and is in a prime location but that's pretty much where the compliments stop. We ordered the paneer kulcha which was decent in flavor but the size is comical. The manchurian and noodles were actually not too bad (probably the only redeeming part). Although, the manchurian was a little over-salted. The service was horrible and slow. The dude who was our server was not friendly and we had to wait so long to get more water. I will probably never go back as I went here while visiting the city.

they should definitely put a clear direction in the google or website how to get inside of the restaurant due to the construction works. food was great and stuff were attentive. 10/10

Came here for my birthday dinner, and I liked that the restaurant has a Bengali menu. Restaurant is spacious, and the waitstaff is attentive and prompt. The food was delicious! The puchka (pani puri) was reminiscent of my childhood. I enjoyed the kadai paneer and chicken biriyani. I had the mishti doi for dessert, and once again...reminiscent of my childhood. The flavors were wonderful in all the dishes we tried, and the drinks were strong. I'll definitely be back!

Wow-I stopped by for dinner as I was in town. I have dined in many Indian restaurants. Very much enjoyed my dinner. So flavorful! Friendly service. Next time I am in town - I plan to stop in again :)

Overall a nice restaurant in Times Square with incredible service! I came with friends on a Sunday afternoon and found the place very clean and spacious, which is a luxury in this area of NYC! I liked the food, especially the saag paneer. I thought the chicken tikka would have been better with better cuts of chicken; my pieces were mostly gristle. The malai kofta wasn't quite what I was expecting either. Overall, I would come back!

A restaurant and event space serving up delicious Indian and Indo-Chinese eats -- half of the space was rented out for a function, but they do a good job separating the dining area from the music. All of the food here was so delicious, my favorites being the Dum Aloo, Paneer and Shrimp Hakka Noodles -- it took a long time to come out, so we were super hungry with a later reservation. Overall tasty, would come back (especially to try some Bengali specials)!

Utsav is located in Midtown Manhattan near Times Square. The seating was uncomfortably close together for how empty the restaurant was for a Friday evening... Taking pride for its Indo-Chinese and traditional Indian cuisine, the restaurant has a mix of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options that cater to all palates. The food at Ustav was flavorful and beautifully presented. The paneer tikka masala was another highlight, with generous chunks of paneer in a tangy, slightly sweet sauce. The biryani packed a punch of spices and flavor while the rice was aromatic. Portions are small considering that traditionally these meals are eaten family style.

Experience Newly introduced Bengali menu at Utsav It has been curated to accommodate both vegetarian and non-vegetarian palate and has a host of dishes that represent the Bengali cuisine. Recently visited them .. We have tried Nimbu paani Fish fry Jhal Muri Daab Chingri Bhetki Maccher Paturi Kosha Mangsho Cholar dal Aloor Dum Luchi Bhaat Mishti doi Bengali food is a combination of subtle and fiery flavours. There are certain European influences also like the snack food tradition and foods like chops , fish fry and cutlets that are British in origin but are prepared and served in most Bengali households. They have focused on presenting classic dishes of Kolkata in their menu. Try the Jhal Muri ,Fish fry, Bhetki Macher Paturi (fish fillet in a spicy mustard paste steamed in a banana leaf), Daab Chingri (large prawns cooked with mustard in a tender green coconut )and Kosha Mangsho (slow-cooked spicy mutton curry) with some Bengali Alur dum , Cholar dal, Luchi. Don't forget Mishti doi which is a thick and creamy sweet yogurt dessert that's one of my favourite too. If you're in New York City do check out this restaurant. Their Bengali menu aims to give you a taste of indulgence like the jolly Bengalis. They also offer Indo Chinese and regional Indian cuisine.

Chicken Kali Mirch Kebab, Garlic Naan

Utsav was an okay experience. My friend and I went together and ordered the garlic naan and chicken kali mirch and some type of chicken soup. I have to say, this was not the best meal I've had in my NY trip. The chicken was bland without the sauce but even the sauce was meh. The soup was odd tasting. Service was good but a bit slow. Was weirded out when they put us in a room far away, not too sure what that was about. Would I go back? No. Portions were pretty small for the price I was paying. The best item we ordered was the naan and water. The naan was absolutely delicious and just right; not soggy with the seasoning on top but very flavorful and warm.

    Lamb lunch special
    Xue Lin L.

Had a quick lunch here and the food was super good. The lamb and chaat was flavorful and the naan bread was fluffy and warm. There was also some type of bean curry which I've never had before which was also nutty and delicious. The only thing that was lackluster was the rice - it just tasted kind of dry / stale. Service was good, waiter took time to explain the spice levels and different options for lunch. I took off a star because the interior is in desperate need of an upgrade and the restrooms needed a good cleaning - I was just washing my hands quickly but it smelled like urine in there :(

It was dark when we entered the coffee shop but an ajar door gave way to the bar. The decor is a homage to the works of Nikola Tesla, which can be seen in the subtle electric theme throughout the space and the naming of the cocktails. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. It somehow manages to feel both refined and relaxed at the same time. The kind of place where you half expect to spot Hemingway in the corner pretending not to eavesdrop. We started with half a dozen oysters, which were fresh, briny, and exactly what you want with serious cocktails. Crisp, clean, gone in about three minutes. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way. We walked in without a reservation around 6:20 p.m., and they were able to accommodate us at a shared table until 7:15. The menu surprised me a bit. Since I associated the address with Eleven Madison Park, I wasn't expecting to see items like wings stuffed with sausage, which were done in partnership with Jungsik. We ordered those along with the mushroom burger and asked them to cut the burger in half for us. The cocktail menu was creative and a little intimidating, with unconventional ingredients like cream cheese and green curry. I went with a fruity Hendrick's-based drink, and my friend ordered the spicy green curry martini. Both were good. Mine didn't taste very strong, but it also wasn't overly sweet because there was enough bitterness to balance it out. The green curry martini was more adventurous but still worked. Service was mixed. There was a woman standing near us, so we tried ordering food with her, but she seemed hesitant to come over. Maybe she wasn't a server or was newer. For drinks, she brought over someone more seasoned, who quickly helped guide us based on our preferred taste profiles. Her suggestions were very good. The mushroom burger was the highlight for me. It was a little salty, but the crispy mushroom and soft bun were a great combination. I honestly wished I had more than half. The wings were okay. They were crispy on the outside and juicy inside, but coated in a Dorito-like powder that made them very messy. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd come back, especially for the mushroom burger.
