Wow, can't believe the myriad of negative reviews here. The first time I stopped into this place I enjoyed the food immensely. The place was relatively clean, portions were large, and honestly the BEST kabobs I've tried in the DMV (even better than that place near DCA, wink wink). So I decided to give it a try once again and was blown away even more. Came in the evening and I was the only person there. I once again got the chicken kabob platter that comes with a delicious salad, afghan bread, rice (highly aromatic and flavorful), and this time potatoes on the side (good). It took about 10 minutes or so since they prepare it fresh. The chicken is sumptuous and they add the perfect seasonings and onions to it. Service was good and the folks there are friendly. This in my opinion is the best Afghan place in the area. Highly recommend and can't wait to try their other meats and dishes. read more

Total hidden gem. Tucked away in an awkwardly designed strip mall, you won't see it from the road, but it's worth seeking out. The food is amazing. Kebabs are perfect, sides are good, the atmosphere seems very authentic, kind of a hole in the wall type place like you might actually find in Cairo. Disclaimer: I used to eat at the Food Corner in Centreville and it was great. Both my husband and I loved getting take out there. So, naturally, when we moved closer to Springfield, we were excited to try out the food here. Honestly, it was terrible. The quality of their kabobs, bread, and rice has gone down tremendously. They now give you gross qabli palau which tastes sweet instead of the plain brown rice they used to. Their bread was hard and the kabobs were dry and had no taste. I was disappointed overall. when I first called the restaurant to confirm if their meet and chicken is halal, but the person I was talking to did not get what I was trying to say, instead of listening to my question, he said "you welcome" and hung up the phone on me. when I called again to ask the same question about which location they get their meet and chicken, instead he kept telling me his store location, it seems to me maybe he didn't know or he was trying to act confused or didn't want to answer. read more

Loved this place and have been going for more than 10 years. Recently however, I went in with my kids and really had a terrible experience. I usually sit by door but this time, I decided to sit over on the other side by the window. My daughter pointed out something that actually made me almost throw up. There were bugs. Dead ones. Hundreds maybe. I was so disgusted I had to leave. But I wanted to let the owner know. It's under a neon sign, I'm sure attracting a lot of them, but the question then comes up- HOW do they not notice this!? How can a human being even think this is acceptable? This is not only a restaurant, but a professional business. Just the simple fact that it was that dirty, confirms how long it's been since the place was even cleaned properly. Just so sad. It gets better. You pay after you eat. When I went up to do so, the owner charged me $10 + for a plate of rice and a tiny side dish of chicken curry. (Which is what it comes in anyway if you order it "on the side") I was so annoyed at this point with the other crap- I literally went back in to confront him. Immediately, he became extremely defensive, rude and wouldn't let me speak at all. He proceeded to tell me that he didn't charge me for anything that wasn't on the menu. He never gave me what I asked for anyway. Then showed me the menu which in fact, did not have one of the things I ordered on there. But that was impossible to explain because he was so rude and loud...screaming at me, that I couldn't even speak. If you're going to be charging people extra, you AT THE LEAST need to inform them before doing so. That's just a good business practice. The food has become less. The prices, ridiculous. It's unfortunate that a someone like that, who's been a local for many years, treats paying customers like such crap. We will never- ever go back again. read more

These kabobs are great! I usually get lamb kabobs and chickpeas. Each time the meat has been tender and tasty. Definitely check them out!

Finally a real kabob spot that doesnt serve Iranian style plain kabobs. The chicken & shami combo is the way to go! Huge portions that always leave me satisfied and with leftovers. We have eaten here many times over the years and really enjoyed the food, but hadn't visited for about a year. We went in on Thursday and sadly, the place has gone down hill, way down hill. The chicken in the kabob sandwich was good and overall the sandwich was not bad, but the bread was a bit stale and the lettuce was browning out. The place looks really beat up these days but I love a good dive so this wasn't so much of an issue, the real issue was cleanliness. The place was dirty, I mean really, really dirty. I had second thoughts about even eating there (wondering what the kitchen was like) after seeing the crud on the window sills, the floor, and the tables. You could see dust and other unidentifiable "stuff" everywhere. We don't plan to go back unless they do a major clean up. read more

Well, I love afghan food. And I go to many different Afghan restaurants. Recently I went to Food Corner Kabob House in Brookfield Plaza. You could call the place clean with no doubt. The food is pretty good, but a little bit on the greasy side. I go to that place maybe once or twice every two months and am usually happy with it. This time was okay I guess. I got the combo and it was pretty good but really greasy. That visit wont make me hate the place, but I hope to be more happy on my next visit. read more

The food is great. However we had the same issues as some of the other reviewers. I've called in orders and came home to find things missing or wrong. Most recently we used the online ordering we received an email confirmation and pick up time and our credit card was charged, with 2 small boys who are hungry it's imperative to get food on time before a melt down occurs. When my husband got there, they said they never received the order. I asked why we received a confirmation and got no answer. If this was the first time, I'd understand but we have had so many issues with getting our orders correct. My sons love their salmon kabob and that is the only reason we return again when there are so many kabob options in this area. read more

I have been going here for years. I was a BIG fan. There are two things in the world I love and would give up my kidney for, Kabob and Burgers. The place in dingy, whole in the wall dive. The chairs and tables are wobbly and well used. The decor attempts to be authentic Afghan but i would call it dis-orderly. Bathrooms are pretty shotty. If I didn't like the food and the service was (note-past tense) not great I would never had come back after the first. I took my family there regularly, any out-of town friends got to see my favorite place rather quickly upon arrival. I had many of arguments with many of friends over this place. I claimed it was better that Kabob Palace and Reston Kabob and few of them disagreed with me. Forward to my last 6 visits.... -salmon was traded for tilapia. LAME! -portions are significantly smaller - hu? I like to be rolled out of there... -prices are much higher. -dude, prices or portions-not both! -place gets dingier and dingier-stop opening new ones and clean/fix this one -workers not as nice as the owners were They opened 4 more locations...but this one still looks and feels like crap. Forward plan; BOYCOTT and try once a year until things improve. I have tried at least 10 other places and am currently looking for one to win my heart and stomach. My family and I were very disappointed with the Springfield Food Corner Kabob restaurant. We ordered boneless chicken kabob to eat in and an order to take out. The chicken portions were small. Some of the chicken portions ,in the same plate, were cooked fine but others were hard and chewy. There was hair in one of the plates. Their bathroom floor was wet and dirty. I wonder when was the last time they cleaned it. Even their Kitchen was very dirty, while three employees were just standing there. I wonder if the health department ever checks it out. To top it all off , the order we took home also had hair in it and all the chicken portions were burned on the bottom side. read more

Im a fan. But mostly because of the good memories Ive had here. This place can make me hungrier the closer I get. The sides and soup still taste amazing, but the chicken has gotten smaller and tougher, on average over the past year or so. Still worth the wait though. I would have to say I regularly prefer the Annandale one now because their chicken is still cooked the same great way EVERY TIME. I recommended this place to my boss one time in passing and she personally called me back to thank me because she loved it so much. A must try. read more

This is the best restaurant in northern Virginia they have the best menu and have so many choices to pick from. They are perfect there food is delicious I have been to other afghan restaurants and there's always something about there chicken that's not right when I came to Food Corner Kabob House in Springfield Virginia my family and myself loved it . In a word this place is excellent. I've tried two dishes so far, the bone in chicken kabob and the lamb chopan, both very good with the latter being excellent. In addition to top quality kabobs, their sides are delicious. Don't judge a book by its cover! This place is a little dingy on the outside, but the kabobs we ordered were yummy and freshly made.
