The portion for an entree surprised us. The different variety of toppings impressed us too. I loved the cauliflower! The baba ganoush was a little TOO smoky for me (the smokiest I've had), but my husband loved it. I guess it's a preference thing. I was really excited for the grape leaves and while they were good, there's something left to be desired... I was just really happy to have that included in my entree. I feel like the combination of choices here you can't find at another casual place elsewhere. They have some refreshing fountain drinks too that I feel pair well with thr food. Stopped by Yafa for the first time and really enjoyed it. The restaurant is new, clean, and has a nice, relaxed atmosphere. It felt welcoming from the moment we walked in. The food was fresh and made to order, which you could definitely tell. The pita was warm and soft, the toppings were fresh, and the chicken was tender, juicy, and well seasoned. Everything tasted like it had just been prepared. The only downside was the fries, they were a little overcooked, which is why I'm giving it four stars instead of five. Overall, it was a great experience, and we'll definitely be back. Next time, I think we'll skip the fries and try one of the bowls since they looked really good. I am not a Mediterranean food connoisseur so. The food was excellent. The brown rice was very well cooked. It wasn't sticky nor did it have clumps. The grilled shrimp was fresh and very well seasoned. The stuffed grape leaves were excellent. Far enough that they stuck together, but not hard. Delicious yogurt sauce. They also had unique drink selections. I had a lemonade mint bottle drink that was slightly carbonated. Very good. And the staff was very accommodating. Excellent service. It seemed to be the most popular choice on the particular Sunday I went, The guy who helped me make my bowl was very kind and explained what things were. The guy who was ringing me up- didn't acknowledge me and the guy making my bowl had to tell him multiple times what bowl I got. When I went back to ask for the bathroom and a lid for my bowl- I had to wait as he was looking down at his phone and then starting a discussion with his colleague before acknowledging me- when he clearly saw I was there. I got the Chicken Shawarma Bowl with Pita for $12.99, I asked for a drink and it was $3.99 ending up at $18 for a meal. A little pricey for the quantity- also the meal didn't agree with me and my stomach was suffering for the next couple of days. I was looking for someplace to stop on my drive back to Richmond from Baltimore. When this popped up on Yelp, I decided to give it a try. I told the man behind the counter that this was my first time here and he walked me through all the options to add to my bowl. It was a bit frustrating that for a number of items I chose, he only added about a half a spoonful to my bowl. I ended up with a bowl of ingredients that were not even as tall as the paper bowl they were served in. As I ate, I watched a man order a bowl and it was overflowing with ingredients. The flavors were good, but I wasn't able to really taste everything I added to my bowl because the amounts were so small. The bowl itself wasn't all that big, so I left feeling hungry. This is kind of the same idea as Mezeh in Richmond, but at Mezeh, they give you a generous serving for a lower price. I don't think I'd go back to this place if I were ever in the area. read more

I saw Yafa pop up on Doordash and assumed it was a ghost kitchen until I looked at the address. I first got the pita pocket with chicken kebab, feta, fried eggplant, tomatoes, cucumber, and onions. 10/10. The pita is fresh, thick, and seems to be made in house. I haven't dined in yet, so I cannot speak on the service. I placed another lunch order for a bowl with pita a few days ago and got shrimp and chicken kabob. While it was good, I thought the ratios were off in terms of base to toppings. I do hope they eventually add salmon or a type of fish to the menu, but I will definitely be back to try more soon. read more

We were in the area for about a month and Yafa was our lifeline. The owners are so kind and they actually care about their customers. Everything is made fresh and from scratch. It's quite honestly the most nourishing meal I have gotten out in a very long time. It's very inviting on the inside. We have eaten there and taken it home. The food also holds up very well in the fridge and tastes great the next day! Our go-to has been the chicken kebab bowl with pita. I do 1/2 rice and 1/2 mixed greens with almost every topping. I definitely recommend the cucumber dressing! You can get it on the side. The Yafa fries are also amazing, we get the Za'atar seasoning on them and it's to die for (if you like Za'atar). Well I'm vegetarian so I can't speak for the meats (although my sister says the gyro meat is amazing - cubed not sliced from a big premade spit thingy). My go to is falafel pita with cucumbers, fried cauliflower, sumac onions!!!, feta, tabouleh salad with cucumber yogurt sauce. The concept is simple - build your own bowl, pita, wrap or entree platter. All variations offer the same options. And it's A LOT of food.
