No upselling, no scare tactics, no inflated labor stories--just honesty and competence. Chris, my service advisor, was phenomenal. The VW of Vacaville Ca has the most unprofessional maintenance department I have ever experienced. As we all know it starts and stops with the service manager. Took my SUV into them for a warranty AC problems which was never fixed and when I followed up they had nothing but excuses. This is without a doubt the most useless department and individuals I have encountered. If I could rate them less than one star I would. You have been warned. Hello, I am posting this as a warning to those who may stumble upon it. I bought a car from this location. It developed a massive oil leak that lead to a years-long nightmare. I paid something like $6,000 in repairs (all at this service department) and each time was told, this is the time the oil will stop leaking. And it continued to leak and each time I was told I'd need pay yet another "diagnostic fee." I finally brought it to another mechanic who was able to fix the problem in just one visit. And with no "diagnostic fee." This nightmare lasted for years. Please avoid this location, it is a scam. read more

Review on the Service department 100% unacceptable. My wife has a brand new 2025 ID Buzz. It is literally a month old. Since day one, the front passenger speaker rattles even on low volumes. However, if I grab the door panel and pull it towards me (away from the speaker) the rattle goes away. Makes me think there is something loose behind the door panel and it happens to be touching the speaker. Should be an easy fix, remove the door panel, secure whatever is loose and put the door back on. Service guy (Wayne) said, no problem and there should be no charge since this would be a warranty fix. I certainly hope so for a car 1 month old. Next day (since we dropped the car off around 5pm the night before), we received a call from Wayne saying the car window had been tinted and quoted us $250 to do the repair. Stating the tint may have caused the speaker to rattle. We explained it had been happening since the day we picked up the car. He didn't care and continued to state door panels are removed when windows are tinted and that caused the rattle. This is 100% false. No one removes a door panel to tint windows. He went on to say something about how 40 years ago he remembers that someone sometimes removed a door panels to apply tint. Really? Well, that might have been some rare occurrence that happened 40 years ago but no one does that today and the door panel was not removed on our car. I told him I feel all you are trying to do is charge us money for something unrelated because you don't want to do free warranty repairs. Basically, he was sticking to his guns and said I have to quote you and this is what it will cost. I then told him that I do not authorize any repairs, and we will come by and pick up the car. When we came to the dealership to pick up the car, he still had the keys on him (versus picking up the keys at the cashier) and I am fairly sure he did this so we would have to talk to him. When he was handing us the keys, he mentioned he did his own research, looked it up and confirmed door panels are NOT (I repeat, NOT) removed to apply tint and they just need to push the tint down past the door's weather stripping . Yes I know. This is common knowledge. Regardless, even though he debunked his own theory that the tint caused the speaker rattle he still continued to say he needed to quote us $250 for the repair. We left. My wife has had 5 Beetles, now an ID Buzz and I use to own a GTI and was considering getting another one. Not sure if that qualifies us as a VW family but it has to be pretty close. Doesn't mean we own purchase another VW in the future but it will not be from this dealership. read more

let me start out by stating two established facts. First, I hate car dealerships. Second, I am an old man who is technology challenged. So this dealership continues to impress. My car leasing experience with George earlier this year was great. Most recently, I dropped in the dealership this morning with major problems with my VW and Electrify America accounts. Rick from sales, stepped in and patiently resolved my issues. This was in spite of the fact that I kinda came in with a bad attitude. Anyway, Rick is the man. After speaking with all of the bay area Volkswagen locations, I decided to make my purchase here. Jason was extremely helpful and very responsive to all of my questions. Trust me when I say that he is the ultimate "car salesman"; can talk you into buying a piece of crap that will have nothing but issues that can only be fixed/covered through the dealership, even though the car only had 100 miles or so when I bought it. Lesson learned. Go across the lot to Honda. Now, when it comes to repairs (trust me, you will need them at some point), Chris and Wayne are the best in the Service Dept. They are straight with you and don't give you those creepy salesmen vibes. The cashier that's regularly there is also very nice and pleasant. I think her name is Shelby? Anyway, that's my review. Disappointed with my experience. I took my 2005 gti into the dealership for a check engine light. At start up, the engine felt off its normal rhythm as of late. I was notified it was the air pump and I agreed to have it fixed. When I pick up my car, I find it unlocked, in the middle of the lot with my belongings scattered everywhere and several things missing. Nothing was broken, no signs of my car being broken into. I am sure my car was left unlock in their lot as it was ransacked by intruders days before I was able to pick it up. I notified the VW staff and called the police to file a report. After service my car must have been left unlocked. To lock my door, you must manually use the key because the fob's battery died. The service rep handling my vehicle was aware of this as I dropped the car off the night before and he informed me the next morning. I write this review in hopes management sees this and makes a few changes, maybe some training. Was there a miscommunication where handlers of the vehicle were not aware the doors needed to be locked manually? Does the handler of the vehicle know when the lock/alarm is engaged? Does the handler know how to manually lock a vehicle? Does the handler not care about the safety of my vehicle? This is what gets me the most angry and concerned. We trust these people with our vehicles. Mine was left out in the middle of their lot for people to rummage through. In addition, I was not aware my car was ready for pick up, until I called to follow-up. The rep claims he called, but I saw no missed calls or voice mails and still no follow-up while my car sat on the lot an extra 5 days. I cannot recommend this place, nor will I ever trust this dealership with my car. Very disappointed. read more

I'm local and this is the only dealership around. I've taken the car here multiple times since Fairfield VW closed. Service is poor, they don't communicate to you, and when trying to book appointments online they call back the next day saying they are booked and can't work on it for weeks, so you re-schedule, then they call back later and say they still can't work on it because they are booked for that specific type of service. Unapologetic, confrontational, and condescending. I'm glad I'm selling my VW, and won't have to deal with them any more. read more

Beware of the service department!. I thought I needed a new key for my Golf because I received some errors after my battery died, so I called this service dept. Based on their recommendation, I went there to order a new key. When I got home, my existing key was working fine. After I tested both of my Golf keys and confirmed I really didn't need a need new one, I called the parts dept 1.5 hours later to cancel the $200+ key order. They told me they couldn't cancel it and it was non-refundable and I would get a call in two weeks when the key arrived. Two weeks comes and I take my two existing keys and pick up the new one to have them all programmed. After an hour, they told me they were having problems. Then they accused me of tuning my car and that was what made my keys strange--it's not tuned. Another hour later, they tell me they don't have time to work on it anymore and that I would need to come back another day and leave the car with them as they couldn't program them now. They also said they weren't 100% sure it would be fixed and I would be charged for the labor/time spent trying to fix this. After paying $95 and leaving with three keys that each didn't work correctly at all, I was frustrated. Two keys didn't work as a remote and one key could open the doors but give a key error while driving. I heard great things about another VW dealer that is 1.5 hrs away and made an appointment with them to fix my keys. I was in and out in less than an hour with three great working keys and read more

I ordered and paid for a replacement part for my car. I was told it would be in the next day so I could have my tech scheduled to put the part in. Apparently, the part arrived, and they allowed some stranger come in and pick up the part without asking for any identification. If that wasn't odd enough, they had "re-ordered" the part before even talking with me about it. This has pushed the work on my car another two days, which they didn't seem to be apologetic about in any way. They acted as if it was no big deal. My opinion is that the part was never ordered, and that this was a story told to me so that the blame "wouldn't fall on them." I know coming to the dealers would be a lot more pricey but please find out how to give a ball park amount to people instead I was told so so price and come the day of a whole other amounts came up. I had called and was told to come in because the tires I needed needed to be ordered so I had to pay that ahead of time. When I did come in they said if I wanted to pay the day of when it would be installed but since I was told to pay before I said I will pay. Day of my tires being charged I was told there was a fee for removing and disposal of tires that should have been told to me when I had called asking about tire prices. I feel I am giving way to many stars but the waiting area is nice, clean and the workers are very nice. If the amount for my tire changed was told to ne up front I definitely wouldn't have scheduled but with the trick of not telling me the full amount and adding fees day of was what throws me off. I do appreciate them letting me use the yelp discount so thank you yelp for at least saving me a couple bucks!! read more

To say that I received unbelievably great service from Service guru Jennifer Pirani and her staff is an understatement (our purchasing experience with them was just as great btw). I came in at 7:15 AM yesterday to find no one at the service department desk and the doors locked. I was a little put out that they would make a 7:15 am appointment and not be there. The second time I went to the door, Jennifer came out to greet me. She knew immediately that I had probably called the wrong dealership (even though I didn't even know it at that point). She asked if I could come back at 8 AM when they officially opened and I went and grabbed a quick breakfast and came back, still frustrated, but mostly at my (Siri's!!!) idiocy in booking with the wrong dealer. But it was the fabulous way that Jennifer handled the situation. She knew that I was putout having driven 40 min over from Sonoma (booking early to try to beat the Bottle Rock concert weekend traffic going back towards Napa/Sonoma) and said that she could fit me in at 8 AM so I could get my first 10,000 mile oil change and service. All of this was done with the utmost kindness and grace by Jennifer. So I hung out for a little bit in their beautiful service waiting area, which was apportioned with free coffee and donuts and TVs (for those wanting to watch TV) and tables and chairs (for those like me who brought their iPad or laptop and wanted to do some work) and I was out of there by 9:45 with a reasonable bill and a nicely washed car. My experience was 5-stars. I would highly recommend people who are considering a new Volkswagen to not only consider getting their car there but to definitely consider getting your service work done here. Vacaville Volkswagen should be reported to the Bureau of Automotive Repair. They will try to upsell you, do not take your car there. I've been taking my car to this service department for all of it's needed repairs since I purchased it and will not be returning. Chris in customer service tried to sell me a battery, coolant flush, and coolant recovery bottle on top of the repairs it was towed in for. I tried to ask why my car needed each of these repairs but all he told me is the battery is coming back as "worn" and that the coolant and bottle were dirty. He was unable to tell me the voltage or any other details as to why my car needed these additional repairs. They told me, over text, that my car hadn't been starting since they received it and that it was due to the worn battery. I decided to decline the repair recommendations and once my car was ready they sent me a text that told me to bring jumper cables to retrieve my car because the check engine light was on. The check engine light was not on when I dropped it off, just the EPC light. In an effort to be prepared, I brought my father and jumper cables. With him to represent me, they changed their story. Now my car was barely starting.... I declined their service any further and retrieved my car which started right up. The check engine light was not on and has not returned since. It was obvious that they thought they could sell a 25 year old woman services she didn't need. Instead of trusting my car with them any further, I took my car to another mechanic for a second opinion. I was informed that my battery was perfectly healthy and my coolant bottle was fine. All I needed was the service the car was brought in for and the coolant flush. Vacaville Volkswagen does not have your best interests in mind and instead just wants to make a sale. By trusting my gut I saved $800 on unnecessary repairs. read more

I picked me up a nice used Volkswagen Passat at this here auto dealer. We walked in on Monday, July 3rd. Although I've owned several VWs in my life including a kickass '79 convertible bug, my wife was more skeptical about the VW. She had it in her mind that we'd get ourselves a Honda Accord and we test-drove one earlier that day. So we first tried out a brand spanking new Jetta. It was stiff driving, but it drove well. My wife, though, had spotted a used blue Passat that was much more to her liking. We test drove it and once that V6 kicked in... yeah boyeeee... we were both sold then and there! Service was nice, if very slow. The salesperson who initially helped us out was very friendly and helpful, but when it came down to filling out the paperwork, it simply took forever. I came in with a blank check of up to $30,000, but they ran my credit and gave me a better APR, so I went with VW Credit (always a good idea to walk in with pre-approved credit; it gives you an edge.) We waited an hour to talk to a dude who tried to sell us a bunch of options... we shot him down immediately and went on our merry way, though we could have saved 1 hour if they hadn't been so f***ing greedy. If it wasn't for that waiting period, I'd have given them 5 stars. They're very amiable people. read more

I wanted to thank the Vacaville VW service department for an excellent job. I brought my e-Golf electric hatchback in for it's first (10,000 mile) service. The manufacturer's recommendation is to inspect the brakes and make sure no one has removed the warning sticker from the main high voltage battery. On the phone they quoted $90 for a multi point inspection, but where the service advisor wrote it up it was provided at no charge. It was great to get the all clear on their inspection and I felt it was great customer service to provide it at no charge. read more

Vacaville will have you come two separate days only weeks apart and charge you just shy of 400 dollars. Service is slow as well. Expect to be there minimum 2 and half hours for only HALF the job to be done. Go to Walnut Creek who automatically does both services together for only $137.00. This is an enthusiast car and something that caught my eye for awhile now. My cousin is an original owner of an S2000 and I knew I would own one someday....................LAST FRIDAY WAS IT. Eric offered a no hassle price and all I needed to do was go look at it and test drive it. (submitted a credit app to expedite the process too, BTW)SO GLAD I DID. This S2000 was so clean and in 9.5/10 condition. Worth every penny. HAHA. So I don't usually do reviews like this. I usually do word of mouth. But these people pissed me off today. I took my 2019 golf to them before for a window issue. Paid their dig. fee of $195 for them to say, we coul'dn't replicate the problem... It was a factory warranty job. They had it for a day, never took it on the road just their computer diagnostic machine I guess... So today I brought it back FOR THE SAME FRIGGIN ISSUE. ANOTHER $195 to diagnose. One of the issues is the sensor for getting to close to someone in front of you. Still under warranty. They tell me there is damage to the front bumper(there is a minor scratch from rubbing one of those parking stop blocks ONLY) nothing else at all. No dent, no scratch, scrape, crack, NOTHING. Say they will charge me $300 to realign the sensor if I want though. YOU LOST MY CONFIDENCE, IW WILL NEVER RECOMMEND YOU NOR GO BACK THERE. CHEATERS. read more

Our experience at Vacaville Volkswagen has been shear madness! When George made us a deal we couldn't refuse, it went downhill from there. Eric never had things wrapped up and in order. My husband and I had to redo ours contract on three separate occasions, but that's not the worst. We gave all adequate papers that was needed, yet after having the vehicle for over two weeks, Eric was STILL requiring more personal information even though we had given this information before hand. We feel that this dealership should not allow the customer to go home with the vehicle unless all papers are adequately received. Then to threaten us that they will come and get the vehicle.......well that's down right rude and unprofessional. Eric was all nice and pleasant until they didn't have their papers accurately together and had to come to us asking for even more personal papers. As far as we're concerned they can have the car back as I told them, they're not the only dealership that'll take our money. We're at a wait & see moment, they were so desperate to make a post COVID sale, because nobody's buying cars, that they didn't cross they're T's or dot they're I's during the sale, now they are relentlessly bothering us for things we not only gave them up front, but have had to make 2 service calls in the 2 weeks we've had the vehicle, I pray this isn't a bad omen I must say that the women in Service were 100% professional and pleasant, and the gentleman at Service check in also get an A++ read more

Here's my sad story with a Happy ending. Driving to Tahoe for Labor Day in my 1966 Mercedes convertible. As we pass Vacaville the car looses power. It will idle but stalls when I press the accelerator. Fortunately we are able to safely get to the shoulder. Almost immediately a CHP is behind us. The officer helped us limp along the shoulder and we ended up on a turnout right in front of Vacaville Volkswagen. I pop the hood, and make a lame attempt to diagnose the problem. In fact I can see the engine is under the hood and the dipstick indicates oil is present. At that point I throw up my hands and call AAA. Enter Kirk Thornhill, he climbs down to the fence and shouts "Can I help?" It was as though an angel found us. Kirk is the service manager at Vacaville Volkswagen. "If you can get it into my service bay we'll take a look." AAA pulls up, takes the car to Kirk's shop. Within minutes they have the car in the service bay. At first glance they see the throttle assembly has become disconnected. The mechanic snaps the arm back in place and Viola, running perfectly again. "No charge." Had there been no "Kirk" I would have towed the car to a MB dealer paid several hundred to get the car fixed, it would have taken a few days to get parts and we would have missed Tahoe. But our Karma, or our gardian angel or just good luck had us on the road again and comfortably enjoying sunset over Lake Tahoe. I find this incident is proof that there are still good people just willing help. We happened to be the beneficiary. I can't say enough about how amazing Volkswagen has been to me for MANY years. In 2012 i bought my first VW and haven't looked back.Since I've had a total of 4! My current car is brand new. A few days ago the oil check light came on as i was preparing for a long trip out of town. It was close to closing time on a Friday night so i was not sure i could get in. I opted to head to a Kragen to top off the oil, since it's a new car it takes specific VW oil so i was out of luck!I ran to VW and talked to Wayne..i asked to buy the oil and would take care of it myself. He said " absolutely not" and called a car tech to check the oil and refill it! I was so happy with the customer service and the care and concern Wayne has always shared towards me. I never take the time to leave reviews, and normally assume that a negative experience is a one-off. However I've now had three consecutive negative experiences with Vacaville Volkswagen and I would like to prevent anyone else from dealing with them if they can avoid it. Most recently I had scheduled the 10000 mile maintenance on my car for tomorrow at 9:30. They also told me there's a recall on my car that would be handled at the same appointment. Today I get a call from Shelby that they were rescheduling me because they can't do the recall tomorrow. I explained I'm willing to come back for the recall another time but I do need my car maintenance and tomorrow morning is the only time that worked for me which is why I had scheduled it. She then told me they had overbooked their morning and that's why they couldn't keep my appointment. So looks like they were just trying to circumvent my appointment reschedule with a lie. Prior to this I had taken my car in after I first purchased it because it asked for the dealer to set tire pressures. I went to their service department and they told me they didn't know how to do that and it was probably just fine. I guess I should have learned my lesson by then, but again I wanted to give their service department a second chance. Seems like I should have just stayed away after my first experience with their sales department one year ago. I went in to purchase a VW GTI Autobahn and they didn't have one in stock so they kept trying to talk me into lower models. I thanked them for their time and tried to leave. They then said they could get it delivered from a sister dealership the next morning. I stayed the next two hours doing all the paperwork to pick it up the next day. I heard nothing the next morning so I called in. They said that it was delayed and would now be in at 3 instead. I called again after 3 and they said they wouldn't be able to get it for me at all but I was welcome to get a different GTI on their lot. I ended up just driving to the Dublin dealership that had the car in stock and purchasing a car from them, it was such a better experience and absolutely worth the drive. Looks like I'll be driving out their for maintenance too. read more

Rick was very helpful when looking for a replacement for my old vehicle. He did not push me towards anything and made me feel welcome and that I could take all the time I needed! Eric gave me a great deal and helped me understand my credit report and what was in it. The entire time he was respectful and kind. Alom was knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the financial and contractual aspects of buying a car. My fiancee and I learned a lot from this truly pleasant experience! read more
