He no showed our original install date which was June 30th, no call no text, ignored my text 6/30, 7/1, 7/2, finally replied to my 7/3 saying he can only install it tomorrow, which was the 4th of July (Saturday) , I had family visiting and a big party planned, now I have to worry about shower door install because I would have to wait until that following Thursday he stated, basically, if I don't accommodate his schedule (4th of July) then I have to wait another 5 days, in hopes that he would show. So I did just that. He came installed the glass. That evening I noticed the shower door kept popping open. I text him 7/6 stating the issue and also sent video of the door popping open. His reply " ok I can fix on Tuesday" 7/8, that never happened. Never heard back for him. He ignores all my calls and text, he reads the text and completely ignores me! Besides of always being late, and not managing his money properly he did a decent job, on the first job only. Then it went downhill from there. I have recommended him to few contractors and they all had problems with him and that reflected so bad on me. This last home I am renovating was just the top of all problems. From 7 windows he had only 2 correct that my crew installed. His installation was terrible on the 3 windows he did. He ordered an extra window we didn't even need. However due to the rain I went ahead and went with them because they were going to keep the deposit which was hald. 4 months later the door is clanking against the other as it has moved. So, I called them. I was considering using them for another project because I have 3 more bathrooms. However he was really responding when i mentioned that, As soon as he found out that I had another shower door that he had done and it was faulty he stopped communicating with me. I never received a phone call or confirmation on what day, or time they would show up. The morning of the shower door install, I finally get a text saying they would show up at 11:30am. They didn't arrive until 1:00pm, and they still needed to break for lunch. They ended up damaging our beautiful custom glass wall tile, and they incorrectly measured the bathtub showers making holes through the cement wall. Our tile job was very professional and costs thousands of dollars. They damaged the entire bathroom install. This happened on July 22nd. They cashed our deposit of $742.50 and have not returned to repair the work. We had other bids, and found an OC Shower Door business that quoted us $985 with (hardware & Install included) for our 3'x3' corner shower. We REGRET not going with an installer that is INSURED & LICENSED. Mario is neither. He was charging $1,250 for the same door. He agreed to the lower price match from the competitor. We chose to give him our business because he is a Latino owner. $985 = 76"x24" (2) Glass Pieces w/ Hardware + Install $250 = Kohler Tub doors purchased at Lowes $250 = Kohler Tub doors purchased at Lowes $1,485 = TOTAL When you look at what his overhead costs, he makes a killing on each installation. $240 = Labor Cost (1) worker @ ($40/hour) (Job = 6hrs) $600 = Glass Door Keep in mind you're paying him for INSTALLATION services ONLY. He is NOT a glass maker. All contractors submit a Purchase Order to a warehouse where a 3rd party makes the glass. The only thing Mario does is MEASURE and INSTALL. What are we paying for? We're paying for customer service and installation. That is his business. We had a very unprofessional experience. BEWARE HE IS NOT INSURED OR LICENSED. FYI - He is a Subcontractor that piggy backs off the larger projects of a licensed General Contractor. He is loyal to the GC because they supply him work projects.
