    Mexican Torta
    Debra S.

We've been driving by Vallarta Prime for months, watching the progress on the construction, and today's the day that we went to the finished project. There is ample patio seating, and a small dining area inside. The overall ambiance is very comfortable. Our server was attentive and friendly. We both ordered the Mexican Torta with carnitas. Depending on whom you're with, I think that it could be big enough for two. It was tasty, although too salty for me, and just right for my husband. The menu is huge and varied. There's something for everyone there. Try it!

For only 2 weeks in I'd say this place is REALLY good. The portions are reasonable and the price is right . The flavor is there . I was very impressed with the tostada mixta the Octopus was cooked right crunchy not slimy. The tacos were good the meats had flavor as well as the salsas. The service was ok could maybe work on a better system to take orders and sit people down as well as closing tabs but I think they will figure that out . Other than that I will be back to try the Chilaquiles

Surf and turf tacos that come with 3. Just okay.

Shoutout to social media for putting this spot on my radar. One post mentioned they had limited indoor seating, and they definitely weren't lying. Give them some grace, especially since they recently opened. They're still working through the logistics of seating guests, taking orders, serving drinks, and refining the customer experience. It felt a little chaotic, but in a good way. They'll find their groove, and I'm already looking forward to coming back to try more of their dinner entrees. Table of 4 came on a Friday around 5:30 p.m. and were able to snag one of the four booths inside pretty quickly. There are only four booths, so I can only imagine how challenging outdoor dining can be without much shade esp with Sac summers. The place was packed, so I definitely felt for some of the other patrons, no shade and had to wait quite a bit for their food. The menu is extensive, with plenty of options to choose from. I decided to make it taco night. Surf & Turf - 6/10 I appreciated that it came with three tacos and plenty of protein, but the flavor was lacking for me. The meat was a bit dry, and while they provide lime and sauces, neither really elevated the dish. Ribeye Taco - 8/10 They're definitely not shy with the protein. The fresh cilantro, onion, and guacamole paired nicely with the ribeye, making each bite flavorful and juicy. Taco Gobernador - 6/10 Another generous portion. I went with the shrimp, which tasted fresh and was cut into bite-sized pieces with a light batter (at least I think it was battered lol). There was a little too much cabbage for my liking, but it added some nice texture and volume. The sauce was solid too. Octopus Taco - 7/10 I'm a sucker for seafood, and this one delivered. My only complaint is that I wanted more filling, but that's probably just me being greedy. Churros - 8/10 These were definitely on the denser, doughier side. Not overly sweet, which I appreciated, but I do wish they offered ice cream or a dipping sauce to take them up a notch. Aguachiles - 10/10 This was my friend's order, so I only got a few bites. Wow. Packed with flavor and freshness. Just be warned--it brings some heat. Raw shrimp, mango, and a punchy marinade. What more do you need? The lime margaritas were refreshing. I had two. Enough said. Biggest disappointment: the chips and salsa. The chips were dry, lightly salted, and tasted a bit stale. The salsas were... questionable. I wasn't a fan of any of them. Maybe that's a good thing, though... you won't fill up on chips before your meal arrives.

I am thrilled that I stumbled upon this establishment. I ordered the fried fish taco and the marinated grilled octopus. The fish taco was just okay. There were more ingredients other than the fried fish in the taco. I absolutely love the grilled octopus. It was nicely charred and flavorful. Very tender as well and not overly chewy. I sampled my sister's birria taco and octopus taco. The octopus taco was just okay. I love the birria taco. Will definitely dine in again.

A solid joint. They are definitely experiencing some growing pains ( wait times, amount of staff etc. ) but the food was delicious. We ordered two Tostadas, kids tacos, tacos al pastor with grilled pina and a margarita. The margarita tasted premade and on the sweeter side so beware, the tacos were 10/10 bomb and came out HOT. The chevice was soooooo good and tender 1000% the flavor and texture I have been craving. Their menu is huge, I wish it was smaller and just core items, maybe to help with wait times? Idk, keep it simple guys and I think you will flourish here.

What can I say. We had the most delicious tasty tender menudo with homey. The broth was so tasty not fatty at all With hand made corn tortillas. We also tasted the chilaquiles green, red ; with egg and chopped chicken equally as delicious. We favored the green ones but the red are very good also. The place is very clean. The bathroom were very clean. The service was great. Don't walk here run. The food is very good!!!!

This location has not done well since Ford burgers left, but I know all of that is about to change dramatically! Vallarta Prime has done a fantastic job remodeling the small restaurant directly across from William Land Park. While there only a few tables inside, there are so many tables outside all with the view of the park and the beautiful Sacramento sunny weather will make this patio a delightful Sacramento dining destination. They do have awnings coming, but Sac City's permits department is slow. This restaurant has only been open for two days and they'll open again next weekend and then plan to be open throughout the week after that. The menu is super large and ambitious. They do not really have the space at this small location to keep all of the seafood like don't crab legs, so super sad to report that unfortunately my favorite dish, the seafood molcajete not be on the menu, but they do have many other seafood selections. Today we went for an early lunch and we were lucky enough to get it inside seat because it's the first hot day in Sac in months. We ordered the three fish Tacos, standard street style and the Surf and Turf crispy taco set. The surf and turf has all three steak, birria and shrimp combined in each of the three tacos they taco shells were not as crunchy as I had hoped, but the over all flavor and the cheese made them absolutely delicious. Much like prior Yelp reviewers, we really did not like the salsas. They seemed to lack flavor. But that won't stop us from coming back to Vallarta Prime Restaurant; We'll just be bringing our own bottle of hot sauce. Tacos and other meals, come with chips and salsa chips are re-billable. They have Pepsi products on fountain and those are also refillable. They have bottled beers, including a Modelo Negra and they make fancy Micheladas. I can't wait to come back and try the Piña la Loca, the Seafood Tower and the Piňa Nietos crunchy tacos, all items that people dining were raving about. Since they just opened they were a little bit slow on the service but checked in often and Julio the owners/manager is the nicest guy ever! For 2 of us we did end up spending $25 per person with bigger tip for 3 tacos and a soda each. Vallarta Primr is such a nice restaurant and I really want this place to flourish in success!

I was excited for this New Mexican restaurant in Land Park. Beautiful, aesthetically pleasing restaurant, great vibe, chill patio especially for summer evenings. The ambiance is good but the service is questionable. I want give it benefit of the doubt since this is 2nd opening week. I don't expect the service to be perfect since they are still training their staffs. -- WAIT TIME WAS BEYOND RIDICULOUS -- We waited 1 HOUR for our food. Ordered food at 6:55pm, sat outside of the patio chips and salsa served at 7:15pm, food didn't come out until we have to walk inside and complain about the wait time then 5 mins later, food finally arrived at 7:58pm. The most ridiculous part was, a customer sat behind us that got there less than 20 mins ago already got his food. How did the food taste? Decent, but not worth 1 hr of waiting and have to hunt down the staffs kind of life changing food. TDLR: beautiful space, ok food, bitter experience of long wait, not worth the wait.

This is our second time here, and both times have been amazing. The food is definitely one of the best I've had. Especially the Al pastor. Plus, they were so accommodating, we actually signed up with them to do a catering for about 100 people. Definitely recommend. When it gets busy, it can slow down a bit, but well worth the wait. Also, I love what they have done with the place. The building definitely needed a great refresher. The ambience is very inviting and overall just a great location.

The service is excellent. Everything is brand new. I was so impressed! Vallarta Prime really took pride in their restaurant. The seating outside is beautiful. Bar like set up outside, where you can look towards William Land Park. The seats are very comfortable . I ordered the chicken enchilada. It was delicious! I highly recommend the enchilada plate. I ordered a Michelada to go with my meal...was the rt choice. I'm definitely returning! Thank you Vallarta staff for the wonderful meal and hospitality.

Where do I start, my boyfriend ordered a burrito and I ordered 2 birria tacos, I thought it came with rice and beans because it cost $14, and a total of $45, INSANE... We had to ask for chips and salsa, They took 20+ minutes for our chips and salsa.. Plus We waited 45 minutes for 2 item (burrito and 2 birria tacos). Never in my life waited that long for 2 tacos and a burrito. The Consomé was Salty and cold. Tacos were extremely crispy, the whole tacos just broke apart. I told the lady and the receipt showed no onions on the tacos because I'm allergic of onions and onions was in my tacos. My boyfriend had to pick them out. My boyfriend's burrito was very tiny... we had to ask 2 people check on our order... It wasn't even busy at all.... NEVER GOING BACK... PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS PLACE.. IDK WHY PEOPLE HYPE THIS PLACE UP. We saw many other dissatisfied customers as well. A LOCAL TAQUIERIA WOULD Have BEEN BETTER. HONESTLY . Customer service was ok but they need more people to check on people's food because this was not it

    Seafood Mariscos and Molcajete.

Food is so delicious. Friendly, accommodating, and so many options on and off the menu. I can't wait to go again.

And I cannot express in words how excited I was for this location to open up a few years back. So if you're tired from shopping head on over to the restaurant for delicious tacos! Or drop in for taco Tuesday when their street tacos are a little over $2 each. I usually order the carnitas (drooling, has the right amount of soft and crispy bites), carne asada, shrimp and fish tacos! I have also tried the quesadilla which is packed with meat so there's bang for my buck. They put a good amount of meat on the tacos and toppings as well, so I get full pretty fast because of all the protein. Can't forget to mention the complimentary, fresh salsa bar with the grilled onions and jalapeños! The chips are mostly fresh, I have gone on some days where it appears and tastes like the chips were double fried and stale. But overall, on most days, the chips are warm and fresh. The staff are friendly, hard-working and they keep the place spotless and clean! It's a taqueria I have gone to several times in the past and will keep going back to for the refreshing margaritas, yummy tacos and excellent customer service. FYI- I believe they offer slightly lower prices if you pay with cash versus paying with card so it might be a helpful thing to know for people who carry cash.
