I bought avocados 2 for $4 they look good and green outside but when I got home and I opened them they where all black and nasty. I call the store to complain to the manager she told me to came back to the store any time I told her I can go back the same day. I'm in Rosamond. She told me came any day but you have to bring me the avocados. I can't keep it in my house like that for a week. When I when to the store on 12/17/19 around 12 pm. I spoke to the lady manager and I explained her the problem and she responded I need to see the avocados I say I have pictures of them. Se responded that's not good for me. And on top of that is not our problem because we don't know how the product is coming to the store. I say you sure open one before you sale it. Or buy it. This place is trash. Do not eat here. They don't care about cleanliness and if you ask them to wipe down a table because every single one is a mess they will reluctantly and rudely do it after making you wait. THEN they will make sure to take extra time to make your food. A LOT of extra time...when everything is pre made. Never have I had such terrible disgraceful service. The market is your typical Vallarta. Cheap fresh produce, tons of items from south of the border and a good butcher. The prepared food area is a whole other adventure of shit. Miguel and I came here on a Friday night after work to get dinner. In the time that we've been dating, he's only screwed up on dinner decisions twice. This happened to be one of those times. The food appeared fresh to the naked eye, but we were sadly mistaken. He ordered chicken enchiladas and I ordered a half of a rotisserie chicken plate. What we actually got was chicken jerky wrapped in tortillas and the driest chicken ever made. My mind has a flashback to the Sugarhill Gang's Rapper's Delight, "...the macaroni's soggy, the peas are mushed, and the chicken tastes like wood..." Not enough Jarritos in the world could keep me from choking on the chicken. (haha I said choking and chicken in the same sentence.) It was terrible. I tried salsa, then lime juice. Nothing worked. We ended up eating cold tortillas, rice and beans. Very, very disappointing. In addition to this torturous meal, I decided to try the freshly squeezed juice that they offered at the Aguas Frescas bar. I opted for the Vampire. Carrots, Celery, Beets, Parsley, apples, oranges, and probably some other stuff I forgot too. She forgot the apples and put in minimal oranges. The juice tasted like cold vegetable soup. I just got off the phone with Thomas, who introduced himself as the Store Director, and my feelings are a bit mixed. Although finding a Stored Grain Insect (Larvae) in a pre-packaged loaf of bead is not completely Vallarta's fault, knowing the quality of the Vendor's food before you allow them to be featured on your shelf is the store's responsibility. And for that I am giving Vallarta a 2 out of 5 stars. READY!?.........here it goes i bought a hole grilled chicken from their food court at Vallarta when i got home and opened the bag a huge fly was on the chicken. I never opened the bag to keep the chicken warm so i know it came that way. Took it back and the lady said it look like it had been there for a while because it had left eggs or poop! ........Yeah the fly was fat and slow when I tried to wave it out of the bag. Not the first time it happens my mom had a roach or some kind of bug in the champurado in a different locations, so they obviously need to improve how they store the food and keeping food windows shut. The pan dulce is now 2 for a dollar! what's next a $1.50 each .. Yea right And they never have the kind you want or its stale hard like a rock. Went to buy tacos from La Cocina Taqueria inside the Vallarta. The woman helping me handled the money with the same gloves she was making the food with. I said something to her and she was nice about it and said sorry and remade my food without me asking. Hopefully that was enough for them to fix the issue. I must admit, this is a great place to go if you're craving quality Mexican food while cruisin' Lancaster.... ...where's Lancaster? Well if you have to ask, you don't need to know! But IF you ARE in the area, you have to stop by Vallarta Supermarket. -Wait, a SUPERMARKET - you say? Yes! The food is prepared fresh daily, including the tortillas they wrap/serve everything with; the crunchy chips, the homemade frijoles, salsas, etc. are so tasty and perfectly cooked...it just hits the right notes! And the Daily Specials are almost always worth a shot. I have yet to have something horrible! After you order your food head over to the fresh juice section, which is directly across from the hot foods. The Jaimaica, Horchata, Tamarindo, and Watermelon juices are delicious. This is the place to go for cheap produce! You can practically get ten pounds of oranges for two bucks here. The fruits and vegetables aren't as pretty as you find in the more common chain supermarkets, but the price difference makes up for it. The produce at Vallarta does tend to harbor fruit flies, so be aware of that. And there is a pervasive smell of rotting fruit in the store, but that never bothered me. If you are looking for ethnic Mexican ingredients, you will definitely find them here. They make their own tortillas on site, and they are excellent. They also have a large meat counter and sell animal heads and such, so if you are squeamish don't look. There is a taqueria in this store too, but for some reason I never ate there. I usually will go to Tacos Si Senor in the same parking lot. read more

I absolutely love this place! It's located in a decent sized plaza with other stores but it is a stand alone store. The lot has plenty of parking and is usually clean. Plenty of carts and baskets. I come here for all my Spanish dishes especially the marinated meats! It is always so clean and very well organized. The staff is extremely helpful when asking questions and/or any service needs that you may have. I wish they had the food I purchase on sale more often but prices are about average when not on a weekly special. Checking out is typically a breeze with plenty of lanes open even on their busy days and the cashiers are typically friendly too. Their carne asada and pico de gallo are awesome! read more

So I decided to make chicken mole...why not go to Vallarta! I'LL TELL YOU WHY NOT! I got my whole chicken and proceeded to get the spices I need when I notices an awful smell. You know the smell of leaving raw chicken on your counter on a hot day for a few hours? I walked over to the manager and told him the chicken was rotten. He proceeded to pick it up and noticed the smell. He called the butcher over and the butcher also noticed the smell. 'It is the juices of the other chickens that were in the box...that is rotten not the chicken.' The butcher and the manager then walked the rotten chicken to the butcher area and placed it BACK WHERE I FIRST GOT THE CHICKEN. I work for the Air Force...when we have pot lucks we are not allowed to bring food which was purchased at Vallarta....Vallarta will not allow the store to be inspected. I've gotten cakes from here for different occasions, or rather, birthdays, just on different dates. I've gotten one with just regular buttercream, marble cake and fruit on top and this one was received well by my coworkers. They loved it and couldn't believe it came from a supermarket. The cake was moist and it was really good. The other cake I got was a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and this too was really good. Everyone enjoyed it and there was more then enough to go around. The cakes here aren't expensive and they'll write whatever you want on them. I love this store! The people are very nice and helpful. Most prices are way better then the other stores that I have been to. The meat is fresh and tasty, and the meat counter, exceptional. The produce is wonderfully fresh and in great quantity. The fresh seafood and ceviche are a wonderful addition to all they have. They also have a full service bakery. We often go early to eat at the wonderful food counter inside. The store is always nice and clean and I have never had any problem finding anything. It's now our families #1 store and we don't mind the hour drive just to shop there. read more

I shop here now and there when I'm in town. It's an intermediate-sized store. The food selection is good. Also, Vallarta has a fresh deli, with tables. I ordered some delicious beef tamales one time. They were really fresh, and seasoned just right. The customer service is terrific too. They go out of their way to help you, and are friendly (and funny) too. As with a lot of Mexican supermarkets, Vallarta has a colorful assortment of pinatas. The checkout stands are wide and easily accessible. The only thing I don't like is the congested parking lot, and adjascent driveways; VERY busy. There's a laundry mat in the back so, it contributes to more vehicle activity. I give it three stars. Went there and got some food for cinco de mayo. The salsa was not very good, and we bought a whole pound. All of it is pretty much sitting in our fridge two weeks later. Not very good. The rice was very good, and the beans were good. The tortillas were delicious, but the tortilla chips were thick and hard. Seriously, kind of felt stale. We got carne asada and for 5.99 a pound, i found it greasy and barely edible. It's good if you like that kind of stuff, but next time maybe I will skip it. This is where I buy my Carne Asada, and I don't really see much difference between them or any other places. Also, you can order beans and rice already prepared. They have like a mexican deli counter where you can order food from and eat in the restaurant. What a bust. I am new to the area and I'm always looking for new delicious places to eat. For some reason I figured this would be like Mi Pueblo, a chain mex spot, but consistently fresh and good. So i got a cake from the bakery at this place. And the service was great when i ordered the cake. But today when i picked it up i didnt notice till i got home that they forgot our strawberries on top. When i called to ask what happened the were aggressive saying thats how i ordered it and saying that i asked for it inside but that was not the case. I've ordered all types of meats from chicken to porterhouse steaks before and today was another one of those disappointing days, actually it was so gross that I had to write this review. Porterhouse steak I purchased thus evening was so old that it actually smelled rotten before I put it on the grill . When I was done cooking it , I always cook.my stake medium rare, it was so dry no juiices flowing out and smelled bad. I've had the same experience with their seafood. I had purchase a LARGE pozole that was on sale for $5.49. My receipt says GRANDE. That means LARGE. the cashier charged me $6.49. When I asked about the price they said it was not on sale. I showed them their sign. The girl right away took the sign down telling me I was wrong. I went to look for a manager and the manager gave me BS. If you get a larger sizes it will show on your receipt XGRANDE. I can read their receipts she thought I was stupid. Manager asked if I was ok after she told me I was wrong and I told her "No it's not ok" She then walked away. I will be contacting Better Business Bureu. I have heard stories from other customers and I never thought I was going to happen to me. I feel like they give the sale prices to someone who is mexican enough for them. I am writing to tell you how incredibly disappointed, appalled, and down right OFFENDED I am by your store manager Luis and Vallarta Supermarkets! My family and I shop at your stores on a weekly basis, if not more. Tomorrow is my fiancé's BIRTHDAY PARTY and we saw that the sodas were on sale. So instead of spending our money with a competitor we opted to give our money to you. We arrived and loaded up our cart with 36 sodas. As a note, NOWHERE in the store, signs, or price tags has there been a note of a limit to these sodas. We specifically checked so as to not run into a problem. We brought our cart to the front, waited in line, and were then told that there is a limit. The cashier had someone talk to the manager who said we could only buy 12. We stated there were 3 of us so we could separate it since we needed them for the morning. We figured our money was just as good, but apparently we were WRONG! The cashier came back and said the manager would only allow 12 to be sold since we were together. We asked to speak with the manager and stepped away from the register to allow other shoppers to check out. The manager came down and spoke to the cashier and then walked away, never even addressing or acknowledging us. We asked for him to come back down and when he did we were even more appalled!! We informed him that we shop at Vallarta weekly so we came here first to buy the sodas. He replied "That's funny because I have never seen you here before!" At this point I am incredibly offended!! We told him we could separate the orders or come back and get more and he said he wouldn't sell them to us! He stated that they aren't a warehouse and since we weren't buying other groceries he would only allow us to buy 12!! As a regular shopper at Vallarta, who has WEEKLY bought groceries, this man has completely changed my opinion of your store! Not only do they operate underhanded, shady tactics without any ACTUAL notification of a limit, but to employ someone who, in the matter of MINUTES, managed to lose a hundred plus shoppers because of his nasty attitude, his rude demeanor, and not putting the customer first. My family and I, along with anyone else I can get to, will no longer shop at your stores if this is the kind of treatment we get.
