I love our neighborhood Vallarta! Why does it not get more love??? We are here at least once a week. The parking lot is large and easy to navigate. The fresh made tortillas are Hubs' fave, but I like the quality of their meats! Their produce area has fresh, organic selections and prices are often better than Kroger. I can even get a deal on textured soy here. I'm guessing it gets used as a filler in Mexican dishes but, for me, its a crunchy, high protein snack and cheap at $3 for an 8oz bag. On July 4th we had to run in a grab a couple of staples. We were kinda dreading how busy it might be around noonish, but all hands were on deck! We got what we needed and headed to the checkout. There, we found a smiling, festively dressed cashier named Jennifer M. She was pleasant, efficient and she and I even laughed at our shared love of star-studded, red, white & blue glitter which we both had on! Hubs and I have noticed some of the newer Vallartas are doing away with the South of the Boarder decor that adorned the walls, for a feeling of roaming in a quaint village. i am always a late nighter at this Vallarta. I know it is a busy one so i do try to avoid the crowds. i try to come later in the evening and i love it not to busy and i am in and out. The Fruits and Vegetables are always looking fresh and well stocked. The Meat over at the butchery department is always looking nice and prices are always affordable. They do have music always playing and its funny when you get to the age of grocery shopping and enjoying good music in the background. Makes me feel happy. The store manager is always so friendly. I visit this store quite frequently at 757 S Workman St, San Fernando in fairness I'm only doing 3!stars because not all the employees at this location have poor customer service. Mind you I don't usually post complaints about businesses I shop at on a weekly basis. The meat counter and/or meat department has one older woman with a loud voice that almost always has a chip on her shoulder maybe she is over worked or just doesn't have proper educate she always has poor customer service. on a couple occasions she has complained to her coworkers about cutting meats for me as if I can't hear her. I looked for a manager and no one was around. I may self work in customer service and I believe that customer service is the most important practice as this makes the business thrive. I hear a lot about how Vallarta Supermarkets are big on customer service maybe this one employee missed the class you're companies give them. I also feel like Vallarta has grown so big that they themselves don't really care about customers anymore because they make so much more money now a days. My wife and I stopped by this Vallarta after her doctor appointment in the same plaza. I needed some Romain lettuce and my wife wanted to get food to take to work. This Vallarta is in a big plaza so finding parking will be easy. When we walked inside, the food place is on the right side of the store along with the produce. My wife looked at what they had and I saw they had tacos so I wanted 3 carne asada tacos. I went to go get my Romain Lettuce and paid at the self checkout. This Vallarta seem to have more options than the one close to my house. My wife saw their tamales so she decided to get 2 cheese tamales. It didn't take them long to make my tacos and they asked if we wanted salsa so I got the red salsa. My wife thought her tamales was okay but not her favorite. I thought the carne asada in the taco didn't have much taste and the red sauce wasn't good in my opinion. They also didn't give much meat in the taco either. read more

It's Vallarta! This location is nicer than others I have been to. Almost like a Walmart Super Center. They have a wide selection of Latin food, ingredient's, etc. They also have your typical American stuff you would find at Ralph's or Vons. It's clean. Staff is mostly friendly. Understand prices go up but $14.99/lb for carne asada is crazy. It was just $8.99 last summer and only $6.99 a few years ago. Also their kitchen area is mad unorganized. We went in the pre/ordered 5 chickens for a party the next day. Poor woman only cashier was obviously overwhelmed with no help even though I saw a bunch of people working back there. It tool them 10 minutes to find our chicken when they have a gang of them sitting right there under the heat lamp. I have to say that Vallarta's breakfast is a good option. The menudo is good. The chilaquelles are a bit spicy but good; I usually get it with an egg. The juices are really good. I get the vampiro drink, which has beets, it taste great. My only complaint is that their ordering system doesn't seem to work, but they do correct your oder when you inform them, so make sure to double-check your order before leaving the store. read more

I've come to this Vallarta a few times over the last few years but this visit was the best. My dad wanted a whole fresh catfish and he remembered Vallarta sold them. Yes, he was correct! The butcher was super dope because I asked him to clean and cut it a specific way and he was more than gracious! My dad is almost 90 years old and I was so happy to make him happy by finding his fresh whole catfish! The store has everything you could possibly want and the customer service is superb!! Decided to try their hot food for lunch today and I really wish I hadn't! I got a burrito for $8.49. The price is similar to other places in the area but the quality and size of the burrito was not. It was very small and had hardly any meat in it. I've had Burritos from other Vallartas and they haven't been this bad. I ordered chicken because the asada looked old and dry. The chicken was salty and whatever it was marinated in wasn't good. The tortilla itself was burned. There was really nothing good about it and it was definitely not worth $8.49! read more

While in line my 4 year old accidentally spilled the horchata drink all over the floor, I felt embarrassed and quickly the cashier named Andrea who was very nice told me not to worry about it and called for clean up. The nicest gentleman Mamés Guadalupe came quickly and cleaned everything up within in a matter of 2 minutes. I apologized and his great attitude made me feel better, he said "things happen there's nothing to worry about, don't worry I'll take care of it ". These 2 employees really made my day . This review is based on my experience at the deli. The food itself is consistent and the drinks are tastey and never watered down. I especially love their mixed fruit, strawberry or horchata aguas frescas. The grilled chicked has always been tender and never dry and I love thier soups. Today I came in to get a quicknaguas frescas. There were 8 different mouth watering flavors but strawberry caught my eye. So I waited in line there was only one gentleman ahead of me. He was waited on and when the next cashier was available instead of helping me she went on to help the gentleman that was already being helped. Went in today and saw that they are letting people in without a mask. Saw several people walking the aisles in there and one was actually coughing. I mean, every other store is not letting people in without a mask so I don't know why this place is an exception! I called and spoke with the store manager who relayed to me that corporate is the one that needs to approve them enforcing it and as of now, they have not. They say to only recommend it! It figures! Compared to other local Vallartas, I really like this location. It's brand new, the store is impeccable clean and orangized. The staff is super friendly and I was so glad that they speak English. I've gone to other locations in search of some specific items and get the "deer in the headlights look" because I don't speak Spanish. The meat, and produce section was well stocked and fresh! They had an ample array of tortillas which is refreshing compared to your standard grocery store. I really that they sell guacamole, pico de gallo, salsa, ceviche, and chicken salad by the pound! It looks "homemade" and would be great for parties! They also have yummy tres leches cake by the slice for only 2 bucks! The only downside is the parking lot. People walk behind cars in reverse and children and playing, unsupervised of course. read more

There are many things I like about Vallarta, but one of my favorites is that they carry Bob Mills Oatmeal in the individual size cup. My favorite is the Pineapple Coconut . I've looked for it elsewhere and have not found it, but they probably have it at stores like Whole Foods or Sprouts, which would be way more expensive. I'm thrilled because they're so handy to have when rushing to work or just want something light. I hope they keep stocking them! I also like the variety of foods in the deli area. read more
