    Mmmmm fish tacos without pico
    Ashley D.

I'm really not a seafood person but the fish tacos are my absolute favorite. Probably because I do not like cabbage much and they put lots of white sauce. They are also a great price at $1.50 each. When I first started coming here they were $.99 but they are worth the new price. They have specials each day of the week M-F so be sure to check them out. Also they charge to use a card so best to take cash. If you like really spicy hot sauce they have an orange sauce that will light your mouth on fire. I think it is awesome with the fish tacos. If you don't like waiting for your food you can always call it in. The only issue I have is the food is not always consistent. It depends who is working that day. You may get a very small amount of fish or sauce and other days you will get a salad on top of your taco, but it is still awesome and I am rarely dissapointed.

Located in a little room at the east end of Vallarta Bar & Grill, Vallarta Taco Shop has good fish tacos - but even though they are prominently advertised at $1.50, they now charge $1.61 + $0.14 tax (making a fish taco $1.75) - still worth the cost but not what is promised or expected. Also somewhat "deceptive" is their "drive through" and "parking lot", neither of which actually allow customer to easily use them. So look for parking somewhere on the street (if you are lucky enough to find any) and then walk up to the outside order window rather than into the open door next to it which is actually into the bar and not the taco shop (which is basically just a kitchen with nowhere to sit). In addition to alcoholic beverages, the bar "next door" also offers pool tables and live music (but I didn't check on that). I just got a taco.

Carne asada burrito (with beans and cheese only) # 108 - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ewfdidhQLp7yNKZPHPgXyA?select=O9VpQJFphpPdR2OL5BOjXw The first thing that I noticed about my burrito as I prepared it for its close-up, was the fact that it didn't look or smell good. I have yet to experience a burrito that, despite those two things, tastes good in that situation. It was a thick-ass burrito - I'll give them that. However, it was too oily, too fatty and not enough cheese. I barely ate half and gave the rest to some other knuckle-dragger walking down the street. Above average breakfast burrito. Breakfast burrito # 117 - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ewfdidhQLp7yNKZPHPgXyA?select=E0weKmzrp8PxbzDZ1huwpw I wanted to try Vallarta's (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ewfdidhQLp7yNKZPHPgXyA?select=4zdwU-p0pb14RjYxR0pSsQ) pollo asado but since their beans aren't very good (and I must have beans) I had to pass. Even though they were nice, they still get two stars and I won't be returning - SO THERE!

This place is the the most affordable and delicious Mexican restraunt in San Diego hands down. The service is on point and the food is simply delicious. Totally a place to relax and enjoy a good time along with scrumptious food. 100% Recommend

This is a 16oz cup that had a portion of about 2 spoonfuls of ceviche. Not even half filled.

Really disappointed. I order via postmates from here very often for late night dinners. I have ordered the tostada ceviche before and tonight was the first time I received a very sorry portion of the ceviche. It's literally 2 spoonfuls. Not even enough to cover my tostada. This is the last time they will be getting my service.

Camarones aguachiles and fish tacos! Both are YUM!

Super dark and I mean dark, it'll take a minute for your eyes to adjust. Tapas style menu, we were a party of 4 and ordered: Squash blossom Relleno - it's the flower part of a squash plant and stuffed with mushroom duxelles which resembles a meat mixture with squash succotash. Outside is a corn tempura with a tomato base sauce. Pulpo-grilled octopus, one of the best texture and perfectly grilled skin with a chewy yet soft interior. The sauce has a slight kick and crunch from the corn nuts. Crab corn doughnut- this is their specialty and we were about to skip out but glad we didn't. The brioche bun had a donut batter with lumps of crab salad and corn mixture on top. El Festin- perfect for our party of 4 because it was a platter full of 4 Cheese quesadilla, 4 shrimp, 4 chicken slices, 1 jalapeño bacon wrap, ribeye. Flan-we should have each ordered one ourselves! Great flavors and texture, the top had ancient chocolate soil and had crispy corn nuts. Different but yummy. Overall, delicious food that came out so quick, great ambiance, we celebrated our birthdays and were each gifted candles with our names on the label. Truly amazing from beginning to end. Street parking only. The spots on the same block are metered but if you drive down to the second street towards residential, it's free.

Drinks took long after finishing our app. Ordered the mezcal in addition to our drinks and took even longer. Donut crab was actually good. I will give them that. We ordered the big ribeye entree and with the rec of the server would be more than enough- wrong. Ambience- looks better on social media than in person. Super small, they don't use half of the restaurant during weekdays to make it seem more full. After $260 of a tab, we were kicked off of our table (at 8:30, 1.5 hours after getting there) for another reservation directly after paying the tab. I needed to wait for my uber outside. Honest review- check my page as I RARELY make 1 star reviews. Never again.

It's always a great place to stop before or after going to the airport because it's that close. We originally went there for an early dinner, but happened to meet the happy hour time frame (3:30-5:30). They have a wonderful array of drinks and appetizers to choose from. The most expensive being $11.00. Each appetizer is enough for two people. A man at the bar asked me if I wanted some of his guacamole dip because he could finish it all. He looked like that was his dinner meal too. I declined, since I was favoring the ceviche and chicken tinga tostadas. Both tasted delicious. I heard the bacon wrapped jalapeño were good but not gf. So I didn't try them. The views from our table were spectacular. They had many GF options listed on their menu. Our waiter, Jared, (so helpful and attentive), told me which items are more gluten sensitive and which ones were gluten free. The drinks were tasty and refreshing too. Definitely a place I'll be going back to with family and friends

We left right away to pick up the food and sure enough it was ready waiting for our arrival. One quick drive back home to dig in and the aroma was so enticing. California Burritos is very apt for their name, my bf rates it a 10/10. As a California Burrito connoisseur, he liked the addition of sour cream in it and said the flavors were delicious. He topped it with their green salsa for a little bit of a freshness to cut through the richness and fattiness of the meat and fries in the burrito. He didn't care for the fish taco that much and rated it a 4/10 but said the restaurant overall was a 10/10, as he thought there was too much lettuce and tomato throwing off the ratio of the taco. I, on the other hand, am a huge fan of veggies and liked the ample amount they provided. ---- There's a couple benches outside in front of the shop and seating at booth tables inside as well.
