Valor comes off as a veteran business. Sold the job then hired subcontractor to do the job with safety violations, one ladder for a 12:12 pitch roof, working after sunset, sloppy rip off with nails all over the yard. Workers did a good job but never saw the subcontractor nor did anyone from Valor ever do a walk through after roof completed. We had to pay one of the workers since no one in charge showed up. We wrote a letter to Valor with our concerns and was never contacted. They sold us the job and that was the last we saw anyone from this company. Look elsewhere if you are looking for a roofing company. Extremely poor customer service. They couldn't have cared less once they got their money! read more

This is our second time working with Valor. This time we had the roof and siding replaced. We are extremely happy with their work! I would recommend them to our family and friends. Thank you Valor for making our home look beautiful. Ok so follow up review. Today is 7/16/24. After the project was completed, there was a large pile of material left in our driveway that was supposed be picked up by Valor. We contact the company 3 times for removal as we were having guest over on the 4th of July leaving us with less parking for guest. After 4 weeks NO ONE ever came to remove the siding/extra material. WE HAD TO HAVE THIS REMOVED ON OUR OWN, AT OUR OWN EXPENSE. Now the flashing is coming off one of the corners. The work is less than 2 months old. - When materials were delivered on 8/27, my sidewalk was cracked and I still haven't heard from anyone as an insurance claim "was filed" - Also driver of material delivery truck urinated at the dead end part of the street with me watching from my porch. - No project manager on site during project as there was a language barrier with myself and the workers - Broken solar light left on porch, was not informed that they broke it - No magnet was used to pick up nails from work areas, husband picked up all nails in picture. Veterans did not do our roof. They lied about that. They didn't even speak English. They seem to have done a nice job after all was said and done, but our sales guy didn't know what he was doing with our insurance claim. Claimed he was giving us 50% off by saying the roof costs 24k but if I signed today I'd get it for 12. First, that was a lie. The roof was never 24. Second, the insurance company paid for it, why do you even need to play games like that when the insurance company is paying for it. I hate that sales tactic. Stop doing it. Your work is probably better than a lot of competitors and highlighting that is the important part. The sales pitch was good for that reason, not because we were lied to about the actual cost. The only reason you got two stars was your insurance guy saved the whole deal. We almost backed out completely after the bad sales guy experience and then being told that we had to wait several weeks for the insurance company to approve an increase in expense. I probably wouldn't use them again because there are other companies not claiming to hire only veterans and not pitching odd sales tactics. read more

Note: this review is only for Valor's bid process. I have no comments with regards to the quality of their work. Only go with Valor Roofing if you don't feel like shopping around for estimates. Or, if you enjoy the car buying process. I can guarantee you'll love Valor's sales pitch (ie. Let me quote you a high price, then talk to my manager within earshot to get you a 'today only' lower price so you think you're getting a deal). If you don't enjoy being asked to make an on the spot decision and would prefer an upfront estimate to compare bids, don't use this company. Also, if you don't enjoy being being guilted, you'll really dislike Valor's marketing materials. They state that Valor wants you to be comfortable with your decision in choosing them but should you decide to rescind, the sales person who sold you the roof will be suspended without pay if they have more than one recision every three months. All other roofing companies I called for estimates explained my options, did their thing, and emailed me their quote. That's not Valor's m.o. Having put roofs on two other properties in 2020, their "today only" price was comparable. The exception being their quote for sheathing, it was much higher. Ultimately, I didn't like Valor's dog & pony show - it took forever. Maybe my experience was an anomaly but I'm inclined to believe the hard sell is their schtick. With plenty of reputable companies in the area willing to compete using the "normal" bid process to earn business, I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. read more

If you buy Valor windows, make certain you look at the screen that is included. They are cheap and thin. I do like the windows, however. They are as advertised and the winter will confirm that. I was disappointed the installers weren't veterans, as they advertise. Unless they were ROK veterans. They spoke very little English and the person who appeared to be the crew foreman (none was ever introduced) was seemingly unaware he was supposed to collect a C.O.D. check. Within a week, one of the screens had come out of the frame because if you lift it to open, it bends. It has no center handle allowing for an even pull. I called them for service on September 28, 2021 and spoke with Darius requesting service. I even told them I would like to look at the upgraded screen I was told was available. I will say that the actual services this company puts up are lightning quick and spot on. Workers arrived early and were done by 3:30. To back step, the estimation and finance process were a bit long..... but completely understandable and well done. I did have a few residual issues that needed attention, but those were worked out as well at the end of the day. read more

We fell victim to their slick sales pitch. They convinced us that going with a higher priced company would give us better overall service and a longer warranty. They won't give quotes without both owners present because they want to force a decision on the spot and prevent you from being able to compare and discuss. It's a common sales tactic to force an emotional decision rather than a rational and reasoned decision. We actually had a lower quote from a different company and decided on Valor because of the "customer service and peace of mind going with a larger, more established company" We were wrong and that statement was all bogus. We couldn't schedule immediately because we had to get HOA approval. Once that came through, we called the scheduler whose line was always busy and had to leave several messages before someone called back almost a week later. We finally got it on the schedule for about three weeks later because that was convenient for me. They requested that we keep the driveway clear the day before the work so they could deliver the supplies. No problem. Except they didn't show up. No calls no communication until I discovered the job foreman wandering around my front yard in the dark at 6:45am the day of the install. Not ok no matter where you are besides them not telling us that they would be starting at 7am on the day of the install. I called and left several messages to confirm that the work was in fact going to start on time and never got a call back. When they delivered the supplies their crane left divots in my lawn and then they drove the truck over another portion while backing out leaving more damage and hit my basketball hoop, moving it several feet. They didn't even seem to notice that part. During the install I got several calls from the project manager who was curt and unprofessional on the phone, even hanging up on me when I started to ask a question and again when he called the wrong homeowner. After the job was complete, they say that they run a high power magnet around the area to pick up as many nails as possible. This didn't happen. I found more than two dozen nails and a used blade from their utility knives just in my driveway along with three oil spots from their trucks that weren't there before. Who knows how many nails are in my lawn and flower beds covered up by the falling leaves. I called to have the situation resolved and after several attempts and messages with no return calls finally got Makayla on the phone who was the first pleasant and responsive person I talked to after the salesman. Unfortunately she failed to follow through as well and now I have to find another way to solve the problem. My wife and I are both veterans and this company came highly recommended by neighbors who are also veterans. Not sure why my experience was so different, but I am definitely going with a different company when I get the roof done on my rental property. read more

Our roof was done just today. BEAUTIFUL job. From the beginning, the salesperson, Chris, was responsive and answered ALL my questions. I received communication with reference to the delivery of materials and installation. On the day of installation, everyone was professional, efficient and nice. Whenever my husband or I came out to check, the foreman would ask if we had questions or anything. They worked over 13 hours with reasonable breaks. GREAT experience. Review of the estimate process only. I did NOT choose Valor to do my roof. After hearing their ads on the radio I thought to myself that this company would give an honest reasonable estimate. I already had two other quotes prior to Valor showing up. After hearing his pitch and discussing that the shingles he was quoting were the same as one of my other bids he said "good, then we're comparing apples to apples". His starting price before "discounts/promotions" was almost triple that of the other two quotes I got from companies that replaced roofs on my block. His price was still double the price of my other quotes after the 1/2 off the shingles on the back of the house(which is only 25% off the cost since they figure materials at 50% and labor 50%) and 8% Military discount. When he gave me his quote I told him it was almost double the cost of the other quotes. Then the salesman in him kicked in. Maybe I measured it wrong or calculated my #'s wrong. He claimed he had a math error which based on his "price per square" still put him $3400 higher than my other bids. I then got the let me call the boss and ask what we can do. He came back with a price to compete with the other bids that was 45% lower than his original quote. He then got an attitude when I mentioned I didn't like the fact that I was quoted so high initially and then all of a sudden I was given a competitive bid. Wasted an hour of my time and made me question Valor's integrity. read more

We were so pleased with the salesman and with the contractor who performed our he work. However, we were charged for gutter guards that were never delivered and were not needed. We called to have the gutter guards removed from the bill. The contractor confirmed with Valor that the material was never delivered. A month later the adjustment has still not been made. We have called repeatedly and no one will assist us. We actually had one employee tell us we had already been given a nice discount on the roof so it shouldn't be an issue for us. I'm sorry, but when it comes to an issue of more than $400 it's an issue. We were so happy with this company in the beginning, but we feel the customer service since signing the contract has been horrible. read more

Stolen Valor? Perhaps. The company may be run by veterans, but the actual work is provided by a third-party contractor. Their "military" focus is really more branding than fact. In our case, we hired Valor to remodel three bathrooms. So here is the good, the bad, and the ugly. The good: In the end, the bathrooms look fantastic. The tiles were custom cut and fitted, and some plumbing problems we didn't even know existed were fixed. So why one star? This was in spite of Valor, not because of it. But I HIGHLY recommend the contractors they used: Signature Contracting. The bad: Communication. During the initial contract signing, Valor gave us an extremely detailed list of items that would be used in the project. While this seemed helpful on the surface, many of the items were either vaguely described or used codes or abbreviations. We had assumed that the information would be passed on to the workers, and they would get to work. Not the case; on the first day of construction, it was quickly apparent that the workers had not been given any instructions, and so came prepared to do a different job (installing a tub when it was going to be a standing shower). When they were given instructions, they included items we had not agreed to, like inset lighting over the shower, and omitted things we had specifically requested, like replacing the ancient ventilation fans. Valor had made it very clear that we were not the project manager and needed to contact them with issues. The shower that was promised to be operable for Christmas was discovered to have issues on Dec 22, and with the master bathroom not complete and the realization of damage to the 3rd bathroom during ceiling repair. We contacted Valor with our concerns that night. Crickets. Combat showers over Christmas holiday, we were concerned about causing damage to the new work, and causing more water damage to the basement. We called the subcontractors. They fixed it. This became a pattern through the rest of the project. Communication also suffered when our Valor project manager abruptly quit, telling no one. One of his coworkers sort of took over (at the time we were renegotiating to fix water damage discovered from the previous owner) and was very helpful until exactly the moment we handed him the check. We never heard back from him on anything. Other issues ranged from cosmetic (they sent us a square sink instead of round. We couldn't bear to waste the beautiful granite, so we accepted it. Then we asked for round again for the basement bathroom. Square again, and another empty apology), to incredibly frustrating, such as unannounced deliveries and late deliveries - which never included all of the items on the invoice, and were almost always just left outside by the garage. Once, the workers showed up with a box they had found down the street containing fixtures that had fallen out of the delivery truck. I could not possibly list the frustrating moments - a broken toilet, scratched glass that took 4 weeks to replace, the PM taking the liberty to change some of our orders without talking to us. Every time there was a problem, getting a meaningful response from Valor was difficult. And when we did ask for a list of expenditures for the project, Valor acted like we were crazy and told us via email that wasn't how they priced or operated. By the end, we mostly just contacted Signature with any concerns, and they always delivered. Valor was hands off and silent as soon as they got the money. They are quick about that. We haven't even had the final walkthrough, but financing has already started calling. The ugly: The supply chain. I appreciate that COVID has taken a toll on shipments. But between Valor and Ferguson, their delivery company, those shortcomings were hugely amplified. I've already mentioned than many items on the inventory were not delivered, and things literally fell off the trucks. Some items were damaged in transit, leading to weeks waiting on replacements, and even when they were delivered, often the deliveries were made with no discernable order. After the first week or so the workers were only able to show up once or twice a week. And some of this was based on more empty platitudes. One time we spent an entire week being told the shipment containing the shower base would be "arriving tomorrow." Literally a week. When the shipment arrived, the one item it did not contain was the base needed to continue the work. They had it; it simply had not been delivered (though, it was listed on the invoice). The entire process was like this. Any complaints were met with polite gaslighting, but rarely any action. Would I recommend Valor? No. Absolutely not. They are opaque in their business practices, and rarely keep promises, appointments, or delivery schedules. If pushed they will smile sweetly, apologize, and deflect, but for any sort of home renovations skip Valor and work with the actual contractors read more

Not the company I thought they were. No customer service at all. Crew showed op on a Sat. Morning at 6:30. 6:30 is a little early in a residential neighborhood No supervisor on site. No one gave me a time. If I had know I would not allowed that early of a start time as I have a neighbor who is an RN and needs her sleep. They have quality control staff, no follow up to see if you are satisfied. You are the quality control. If you have issues after you walk the site with the Forman then you will need to show the next crew what the issues are and hope the understand what you are saying. How many companies work try to set an appointment on a Friday evening between 4 and 7. Not Mine! Then ask if they can come Sunday afternoon? My issues were minor such as old shingles that damage my outside Air Handler, chips/gashes on wood trim, black marks on my siding, wood damage to my gazebo, White Drip Edged on my brown stained Gazebo, gutter damage, debris left in stair well and so on. Safety issues as well. No one left us a safe egress out of the house front or back. I have a dog that needs to go out and we had to steep over all kinds of debris. Do not use this company. They sound so good as a Veteran Owned company on the radio but the Customer Service falls way short of acceptable. I have been in the service industries for 40 + years and this is not how you treat a customer. I was think of having them look a5t doing a bath room but not now! I will say the Sales Person seem to be to be very sincere but I can see why he dose not have an email address or cell phone # on his business card. read more

Very impressed with Valor Roofing. This is a very competitive business and from the moment I started working with them they were very polite, professional, up front and honest. Had my roof and gutters replaced and the entire process from picking out material to install day was very easy and "NOT" an overwhelming task. The install team showed up on time and completed the job in less than half a day! Very clean, didn't leave any access nails or old shingles and even replaced a damaged piece of plywood free of charge. I was very surprised that the gutters were installed the same day. My husband set up an appointment on Sept 23, 2019 at 2:00, which Carlton and another gentleman were on time. On the confirmation call nothing was mentioned about both of us being here. I was here when they arrived but left while they were outside measuring. An estimate would not be given to my husband because both myself and husband were not present, which is unrealistic in these days. Another appointment was set up for Sep 26, 2019 at 2:00 with both of us present. NO SHOW NO CALL. I called Valor around 4:45 to ask why there was a no show no call and was told we were not on the schedule. I was offered an appointment for Sept 27 and turned it down. I immediately got a return call from Chris and I told him that I didn't want to schedule another appointment because if they can't get the appointments scheduled right, I didn't want to deal with their company. He told me my husband didn't schedule an appointment. I handed the phone to my husband so he could tell Chris what happened. Chris told my husband that Carlton doesn't schedule appointments. My husband said then why did Carlton agree to Sept 26 at 2:00 then. Chris continued to insist that Carlton wouldn't schedule. My husband said that we weren't interested in doing business with them if they can't even get an appointment correct. read more

My husband is a Navy Veteran. We had actually gotten a cheaper quote from Hardesty, and had used them in the past. We were very pleased with Hardesty-no complaints. However, my husband really wanted to hire and support Valor because of what they say they do for Veterans. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. We had a roof and gutter replacement. The salesman, Keith, made a mistake and we were sold the wrong color gutters. We tried to be patient about the mistake and let him correct the issue. We were hoping for the problem to be corrected or to be compensated in some way. However, we didn't even receive an apology. He turned it around on us and said it was our mistake and what we wanted. I tried to go higher up after he was unhelpful and couldn't even get a phone call back. Everyone was avoiding me. I still have not received a call back, an apology or anything. It is clear to me now that they do not care about their clients, and just use the patriotic tactic to get business. We wanted to love this business. Very disappointing!
