Valvoline Instant Oil Change in Raytown, MO has got to be one of the worst oil change businesses that I have ever utilized. They stripped my oil pan and drain plug, and then blatantly lied and said it was this way when I arrived. Yet I did not have any kind of oil leakage prior to them performing my service, nor have I ever had any other business who have changed my oil to identify anything of such. Their faulty service resulted in me losing all the oil that they had just put in, to pour out onto my garage floor. To make matters worse, not only did they get paid for a service that was done faulty, but that poor service also resulted in me having to incur additional expenses to get it resolved. Additionally, they refuse to acknowledge this as being their fault and reimburse me for the additional expenses that I had to incur to get it corrected. I would advise anyone who cares about their vehicle, to not, under any circumstances, utilize Valvoline Instant Oil Change locations, particularly this one located in Raytown, MO. Not only do they have poor customer service for resolving complaints, but its evident that there are employees and/or managers at this location who will blatantly lie to keep from owning up to their faults and failures, with no concern for the customer or their vehicles. read more

Derrick handled topping me off with fluids and guided me in the stall I'm a bit chicken and he made me feel confident! I will be back to this location for my next oil change. read more

Me and daughter stop there in Raytown Mo to get both cars a oil change. 2 weeks later her vehicle engine light came on. To find out they didn't tightened her oil cap back on oil was all over her engine. Then my vehicle temperature light came on it started smoking from the engine. I pulled over to raise my hood fluid was all over my engine. My car engine is shot. I went back out there to let them no what happened. The guy told me he had to check the to see if we tightened down everything. He told me on the 's that showed they did tightened everything. I asked him how did that happened. A different location broke off my dipstick. No biggie. Things happen. I've been going without it fixed for 9 months now. Other Valvoline's in the area would still do the oil change. Never addressed the issue with the stick just went on with the oil change. Charles and Eric changed all of that today. They were concerned I was driving around without a way to check the oil. They immediately asked if they could have a look to see if they could remove the stick themselves (a service the other place told me could only be done at Ford, which would've been $199) and they successfully removed it in literal minutes. They then proceeded to call every auto parts store in the area to find a replacement. I'm so impressed with the level of effort and care they just showed me. They just earned a forever customer. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!! I took my Mercedes Benz in for a routine oil change. (It was over $150 for the oil change mind you) No matter with the price. But once the hood was open, 3 or 4 technicians stood abound the engine gawking. I assumed they didn't work on many Benz 500s. Something happened near the coolant and their body languages changed from intrigue to concern. Ryland, Manager, fiddled with a few things and then made a phone call and walked away. Nearly 40 minutes into this, Ryland comes to me and asks if I knew i had a leak in my coolant hose. I DID NOT have a leak. My car is garaged and leaves not residue beneath. So he lied. He proceeded to tell me, after 50 minutes or so, he'd be kind enough to pick up the "broken" part free of charge to me. A non-certified Mercedes Benz technician offering to put a part on my perfectly functioning car when I drove it in, was suspicious at best. Still admitting no guilt, Ryland said if I didn't let him put the part on, that he's willing to pay for, the car may overheat. My car has never leaked or overheated EVER until he was under the hood. Finally, After a bout an hour, I demanded to go. I didn't trust anything he was saying. 4 miles down the street, smoke is billowing from under the hood. I return to the Valvoline, Raytown with my smoking car. Conveniently, Ryland had left for the day. We got him on the phone and he refused to admit any wrong doing and refused to do ANYTHING to re fix the vehicle he broke. VALVOLINE RAYTOWN ARE CON ARTISTS WAITING FOR VICTIMS. GO TO JIFFY LUBE OR FIND A FRIEND!! These lazy, people stand around while only a couple technicians do the work and lie their asses off when they upcharge you. And when you don't take the bait for the upcharge, they will yank a cord out of your coolant, unscrew something underneath so you have an accident later. NOW I HAVE TO PAY A REAL MECHANIC OVER $200 TO FIX THEIR EFF UP!! Their business model is to bait you in to the garage, and switch you to something more you may or may not need, and then tell you off off when you see through their scheme. Well, two poor experiences in a row mean I will have to find somewhere else to get my oil changed. The oil change took about an hour and a half, which could have been improved if more than two people were working, but the service provided was also unprofessional and lacking. There were three snide comments made that I wasn't willing to covert my vehicle to a synthetic oil, and my tires were never checked or filled. You should probably go elsewhere for an oil change. read more

I've been to a lot of Valvolines' in the Kansas City area and this one is by far the best. They are quick efficient and so friendly. The manager is a woman that is excellent she works hard to keep it all going smoothly. I've been going to this particular one for over 20 years and they should be a commended for their service. You will never disappointed with anything at this location. Worth the drive if you aren't satisfied with your local one. read more

If I could give less of a rating I would. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! They didn't replace my oil plug properly so oil leaked everywhere in my car causing the oil to splatter everywhere and it to no longer drives and they won't admit that they messed it up. I have never been so happy with the service I got. I was out in 30 min oil change I thought I was going to wait a long time.

I called Saturday to schedule an inspection and an oil change . I was told to come the next day Sunday as the person who does inspections will be in that day. I came in at 9 a.m. as they opened. There were 2 employees. I was told they needed a 3rd worker to be the present before they can start servicing vehicles. No one knew when this 3rd employee is suppose to arrive. I was suppose to wait in my car as they would not allow my car in any of the vacant work bays. No one offered for me to wait in the lounge. The service was very poor and the workers could not care less. I have been a customer for 12 years and brought in several thousands of dollars in business. Sent my son into get an oil change with the 19.99 coupon for a 4cyl. Motor, they tell him he must use synthetic oil and don't tell him the price until after the work was completed. Final bill went from 20.00 to 107.00 Bait and Switch Bad business! Also over charged for amount of oil 6.5 quarts for a 4 cyl doesn't work. Today was my second oil change at this place and it was well within the time they claim and pretty decent job. Although the guy handling the billing and payment did screw up my passenger dash while checking the cabin air filter and I have to take my car to them once again to get it fixed. I feel the price is on a higher side compared to other oil change places in this area and that's why this place remain empty most of the time I have driven past them. Not everyone here is expert as I found out but 2 or 3 members of the team are good and knowledgeable in their job. I can't give more than 3 stars for this place. Interesting business model... Not quite certain how the franchise owner remains in business. More often than not ~ up to, and including yesterday afternoon ~ I'll pass by this Valvoline shop on a beautiful weekend day, only to see all bay doors open and the place entirely empty. While just down the road, other 'instant oil change' shops are booming. Trust me when I tell you, "it's not an accident." Welcome to the 'free market'... When I first moved around the corner, my initial thought was on how convenient it's going to be to have a name brand shop so close when I go in for my regular 3K to 5K mile vehicle servicing. Upon initial visit, I found the experience satisfactory, though services seemed quite overpriced. However, as I'll happily pay good money for convenience and quality customer service, pricing wasn't a necessarily a deal-breaker. However, on NUMEROUS subsequent occasions, I'd see their bays empty, think to myself, "oh good, this won't take long," pull into their lot ~ and hear their 'bell' go off, 'theoretically' alerting them to my presence. Then I'd just sit there and wait ~ and wait ~ and wait. Finally, as I roll my eyes, shake my head, leave the shop and get back out onto Highway 7, I see uniformed employees scurrying out from various corners, from both within and outside of the shop, holding cell phones ~ appearing to finish up their texts, video games, web-surfing or whatever. Bear in mind, I'll not presume to judge any establishment on a single disappointing experience. So as I score this place "1 Star," know that over the past 3-years, this phenomenon has repeated itself no less than half-dozen times. Which helps me understand why an otherwise conveniently located, high-profile, brand name shop remains empty, while nearby competitors are thriving... Today, I don't even waste my time. As I drive by and notice their empty bays ~ I keep on truckin'. I have gone to this location for 10 years and until recently only encountered very minor issues. on July 16th 2017 I had a very negative experience with one of their employees. After writing Valvoline headquarters I received a call from their customer care team within 48 hours and a call from the shop manager 16 hours after that. While I am not sure if they will retain me as a customer I am very grateful they listened to the concerns of one of their customers and took action to make sure this would not happen again. Prior to this experience I would have rated this location with 4-5 stars. I should note I have edited this review after speaking with the customer care team and the shop manager. Some of the employees are absolutely wonderful, it is unfortunate one employee has tainted my perception of this location. read more

Don't make the mistake of going in there without a very good coupon. I did that today. I got the basic 6 quart oil change and filter, and the bill was $51.98 total. That make a regular dealer evan look cheap. My last one at Blue Springs Ford was only about $30. read more
