Great food, wonderful service, and in the coziest little space in Apponoag. This place has all of the Federal Hill vibes without the any of the headache of being downtown. I love an eclectic Italian wine list, and Vanda does not disappoint in that department! If you're looking to dine on a weekend, be sure to make a reservation! Okay, first and foremost you must overlook the location, everyone is afraid of apponaug lately! Once inside this little gem, the outside fails to exist. They have done a beautiful job on the decor! Let's talk now about the staff, friendly and they are genuinely happy that you're there and they want you to come back, which you will! The menu is perfect and not overwhelming, I did however want every single dish on it. We were a party of 4 and we all tried different dishes and we were oooohing and ahhhing as we ate! Absolutely delicious!! My husband and I went for dinner a few nights ago and everything was perfect!! It was our first time here. For drinks, I had an elderflower cosmo and my husband had a cucumber mint mojito. Both were delightful, refreshing and not too sweet. My husband choose the polenta for an appetizer, which I thought would be kind of boring. It was fantastic! The sauce was incredibly flavorful. For our entrees we split the game hen, I asked for the homemade fettuccine in place of whatever pasta typically came with that dish (which I highly recommend) and the shrimp dish. I would definitely ask to sub the pasta in the shrimp dish for one of the homemade pastas next time. For dessert, we split the olive oil cake. So tasty!! I wish a family member had a birthday coming soon so I could order a whole cake!! We'll certainly be back. :) read more

Went last night sat at bar with my husband bartender was attentive as well as pleasant. Clams Zuppa and calamari for apps. Both were very good clams were a bit salty. My husband had the pasta bolognese and I ordered pasta aglio. They were both excellent but had to be sent back to be reheated as they came out warm. The flourless torte was the best. The restaurant was very busy surprisingly the noise level was not overbearing. We each had 2 cocktails which we both agreed were weak and quite expensive. The martini was served in a glass that a cordial would be served in. Was not able to taste much of the captain Morgan with coke. In any event overall nice dining experience. read more

Vanda has all the bases covered with catering. I've been to events (pre-Covid) where the food was catered by these folks, and the food and service is AMAZING. I've been to Vanda many times and enjoyed everything about it. Tonight was the first time I felt I over paid for the meal and the service was awful. A scallop and lobster special with 3 small scallop, for $32. The bartender couldn't have been bothered with myself or husband. Was like we were a inconvenience to her as she talked with her friends the entire time we were there. Nothing like we've seen before, a total disappointment and hoping a one time scenario. Everything was fabulous! We started with a charcuterie board with delicious cheese and meats along with crunchy fresh bread and garlic oil. We had the fresh ricotta and it was so good and creamy. The Apple butter was a great compliment! The Broccoli rabi with sausage and beans was amazing! The beans were al dente and the sausage was made fresh and it was flavorful and delicious. We also shared the meatballs which were delectable. Next up was the pasta special....spaghetti with pancetta, Parmesan, cracked pepper and parsnips.... that's right parsnips. It was my favorite dish of the night! The pasta was cooked perfectly, the pancetta was crunchy and the parsnips were soft. There was just the right amount of cheese and it was perfectly peppery Then there was Salad and a delicious pork chop. The pork chop was served with creamy polenta and Brussel sprouts. We shared everything including dessert which was olive oil cake and a pear crumble and delicious French press coffee that came with its own timer to help you know when to drink it. The crumble was warm with lots of nuts and gelato. The olive oil cake was flavorful and moist ..... both were a perfect ending to our meal. Almost everything we ate was recommended by our server Madison. She was attentive but not overbearing and all of her recommendations were perfect for us. She was warm and engaging. The food is excellent! I have been there a few times and everything I ordered was superb. The staff and service was also very good. No complaints. The location isn't the best. It's a small restaurant that gets very busy so I recommend arriving early or making a reservation. One big con for me was the very small pours of wine. The wine starts at $10 a glass and it's very disappointing to get such a mediocre pour. I dine out a lot and this is the first time I have come across this issue in a long time. I wouldn't order another glass, not at those prices. read more

We walked out. The WORST service. We booked a table for two, got to the restaurant 10 minutes ahead of time. The place looked busy, usually a good sign. There were five empty tables, some needing to be bussed. We were asked to wait for them to get a table ready. Ten minutes later, a party of four comes in. Then two more parties of four. Despite us arriving early, the three tables of four were all sat before us. Then a table of four said, they were really a table of six so a small table was pulled from the back and space made. Yet my wife and I were still told to wait, no tables. The staff tried some cock and bull story why we had to wait - I know why, there were only a couple tables for two, the rest of the place is tables of four so they didn't want to loose two seats. Eventually, we were offered a seat at the bar but that is NOT what we reserved and maybe there is a reason people do not or cannot sit at a bar. That was lost on the horrible staff. And yet, there were still two tables of four empty but we couldn't sit there. They said we still had to wait. After a half hour of waiting, we left. My wife sent an email. Their first response was a thumbs up emoji. Well, I too can reply with a similar single digit raised.I do so now every time i drive past the place. The next day, my wife received a longer email. In it, a staff member said my wife is not remembering the event correctly. And then tried to explain how restaurants work. Well no. Vanda needs to know how reservations work. People reserve a table for a certain time, and there is a table held for them. OK, if a place is busy, I can see reservation times cannot be exact but when there are plenty of empty tables and others are sat before you, yeah, I get it, Vanda wants to maximize their money. We were made to feel like we were serving them. And on top of all that, the staff was rude. A restaurant has only one chance to make a good first impression. They blew theirs. We will NEVER be back and every time we talk about a place to avoid, Vanda is top of the list. read more

The homemade pasta is so good--I don't normally order pasta but last time we ate here I kept picking off my boyfriends plate and ordered my own pasta dish this time and so glad I did. We went tonight ( Sunday , Sept 9) for dinner. Sat at bar.. good ambience for a smaller place. We were greeted and served cocktails by the bartender immediately .. all good. We ordered 2 apps and one entree to split..being the meatball with ricotta, stuffed cabbage and for the entree ordered the pasta Bolognese. Overall , they were ok ... no comparison to the meatball grade Sienna has on their menu ( prepared the same way). We both thought appetizer portions were VERY SMALL for the price. This is especially true for the entree pasta dish which was barely an appetizer size amount and wouldn't even be enough for one person. Hopefully for the prices charged the restaurant will re-access this and give a larger portion size equal to that of other local restaurants. I hope this review results in this change so the restaurant is successful going forward because I would like to go back but not with these portion sizes. read more

I gave this a 5, a little bit over the top, but so grateful to finally have a fine dining Italian restaurant in Warwick. I am a full blooded Italian, and very passionate about food. We hardly ever go out for Italian ,especially in Warwick, because my husband and I both cook and are usually disappointed. Providence, of course, has great Italian places; Warwick not so much.We were not disappointed here. Loved the calamari, with smoked tomato puree, fried peppers, a different twist, and the other appetizer we ordered was the meatball. My husband ordered a pasta bolognese dish and I ordered the cod dish. Some of the portions were on the small size, but we loved everything. I would rather have quality vs quantity. The cocktails were great too. I ordered a Campari Negroni, now my favorite drink - a cross between a manhattan and campari and soda. Just writing about it makes me want one now. Staff friendly, professional, attentive - know what they are doing for sure It is fine dining, so yes, a bit pricey, especially by Warwick standards, but worth it. read more

First time visitors last evening. Everything about our experience was 4.5 stars overall. Ambiance nice and cozy. Service definitely 5 star. Our server was also 5 star. I had been told by several people that the restaurant had opened and that it was worth trying. We made reservations for 6:30 on a Friday night for our anniversary and had a tough time getting a park spot. Our initial table for two was against the back wall two feet away from the ladies room door and inches away from a table of four. We were then moved to the bar. The bartender was beyond overwhelmed with the orders she was getting both for food and drinks. Also, she didn't seem to know the menu that well. Our $18 burrata salad (really??) was just okay - we split one ball of cheese and each had a couple of serving spoonfuls of tomatoes. The bartender described the steak on the menu as marinated in a "sauce". When I asked what kind of sauce she said she wasn't sure but it was good. I went with it and got a rubbery steak that apparently was marinated in vinegar. Just barely ate half. To be fair, my husband did enjoy his gnocchi very much. The olive oil cake was just okay and the vanilla gelato that came with it was bland. The noise level was ridiculous and the atmosphere was extremely chaotic. With so many good restaurants in EG, I don't think we'll go back. read more

We are snow birds and ate there several weeks ago when we returned from Florida. Always love patronizing the local Warwick and East Greenwich restaurants. The menu was limited but the food was fine however we were seated at a ridiculously tiny table near the restrooms. This table was so small that I couldn't keep my salad on the table when the entrees came! We were not shown a beverage list so I ordered a beer and my wife ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio. Our waitress was very pleasant and the service was fine. When the bill arrived however I couldn't believe that we were charged $14 for the generic glass of Pinot Grigio that we ordered listed as Kiener on my bill. I questioned the price and the waitress responded that Italian wines are very expensive!! Being a new restaurant and not wanting to be too critical I let it go. We hope they get their house in order and will probably give it another try. read more
