I had been looking for a local roaster to visit and stumbled upon this place through yelp. I wasn't sure of what to expect since Vaneli's is primarily a roaster/service center, but I can assure anyone reading this that Vaneli's is all about QUAILTY. From the moment I walked into their reception area (I say this because they're not a coffee shop although they have a myriad of different machines set up and ready to brew their different roasts on a moments whim) I was greeted by not 1, but 4 different employees who were all interested in chatting and showing off their finest roasts. I was helped by a Monte who happened to be there on his day off. He took an hour out of his day to make us tons of different kinds of espresso and coffee to include his favorite a Mexican mocha. His energy and enthusiasm was contagious. He then took us to the back warehouse and introduced us to the roaster that day who stopped what he was doing to show us how things worked. Handfuls of beans later, smells galore, I no longer felt like a novice. This experience was the BEST I have ever had in relationship to the coffee industry. I purchased two bags of coffee, but you would have thought that I had purchased a $10,000 machine with the type of drop-dead service I was graciously awarded. It is apparent that Vaneli's is more concerned with making a quality product that making a giant profit. In the small business world this is what separates those with passion from the big box stores. We worked with Gene to pick an espresso machine for our home. He is incredibly knowledgeable about machines, roasting, grinders and espresso beans. He helped us determine which mach would be best for us by asking a number of appropriate questions. We have loved our Butterfly! His coffee is the best we have found and I have had coffee beans sent from Washington, Reno to name a couple prior to finding Vaneli's. My husband is very particular about his espresso :) and has enjoyed learning how to brew great espresso and making micro foam which Starbucks could only dream about. I just came back from my second trip to their "repair" shop. My first trip to repair a heating element cost $125+. I brought the machine home, put water in that night to make my espresso drink the next morning as I had done daily for the previous 2 years. The next morning I started everything up and only got cold water out of the machine. I brought the "not repaired" machine back to Vaneli's. They "fixed" it once again and attempted to charge me $90+ for labor - no new parts were required. The owner blamed the fact that it was not working on my inability to use the machine that I had used for over 2 years previous with no problem or bad power in my home that has 400amps of filtered power. Either way, their inability to check their own repair work before charging me was my fault and they expected to be paid for their poor service. Regardless, their policy is to hold a machine hostage until the customer pays them for work not done or done poorly. I paid them just to get the machine that I own back from them. They understood that I was upset by their attitude, but did not care - they only wanted me to pay them yet again for their "work". I have not turned on my machine yet to see if they even truly "repaired" it. If it is not working again, I will assume that I just threw away $200 on people who have no concern for competence or service. Avoid this place for any repair work. I stumbled on this hidden gem by accident. I was looking on Yelp for a new place to try and this place popped up. Ironically, I was almost out of coffee and wanted to switch up the blend we had been using in our home expresso machine. When I entered the shop, I was promptly greeted by Pong. He was personable and knowledgeable of the coffee and espresso beans sold. I told him what coffee my husband and currently used and asked him to recommend something similar. He did that and more. Above and beyond is more like it. He proceeded to make me a few shots of espresso and a drip coffee to see what I liked best. After 30 minutes of tasting and chatting about coffee, I decided on the Classic Cremosa. In addition, I inquired about ice coffees, so Pong sent me home with some samples to try. When I was ready to pay, I thought maybe I should buy two bags because we use it so quickly. However, Pong recommend I take home the coffee and try it before purchasing additional bags. He wanted to make sure liked it and wouldn't be stuck with something I didn't like. I really appreciated his suggestion and not trying to sell me more just to make a sale. Pong made my visit a memorable one. I appreciate his time and willingness to help me find the best tasting coffee for my pallette. I've purchased green coffee beans for home-roasting here for a while now and I'm always impressed by how helpful the staff is. I recently bought a new coffee roaster from here as well, and again was impressed with the staff. This isn't a trendy coffee joint, no flash or flare, but what you get is a solid product (coffee or equipment) at great prices, sold by people that seem to care and know what the heck they're doing. Let me start off by saying I have never been a coffee drinker. I like coffee flavored ice cream, yogurt, etc., but I've never been able to get past that bitter taste in actual coffee. So after a little internet research, I found out that coffee doesn't have to taste bitter, it's all in the quality of the beans and how you brew it. Thanks to yelp, I found this gem of a coffee shop (note: this isn't a café, but a coffee store). Pong was kind enough to brew me a few different coffees to sample. It was just as fun as wine tasting! He also explained the difference between the roasts and even showed me the huge roasters in the back. Yes, they roast their coffee fresh right there on site. I actually enjoyed the coffees...and they weren't bitter! EUREKA!! It was the first time I ever drank an entire cup of coffee. I ended up leaving with a bag of coffee beans (El Salvador Divisidero) that were roasted that very day. Thanks to Pong, I am a convert!! We've been looking for the best-flavored espresso beans for our restaurant (A Dash of Panache) in Downtown Roseville. We tried beans from all over the place. We had used Vaneli's to service our rare Italian Michelangelo espresso machine (we have always been pleased with the quality of their work). I asked for a sample of their best espresso and they gave us a sample of "Classic Cremosa" and the first thing I noticed was that when we ground it, it wasn't black like other grinds. Instead, it almost looked like redwood. However, when we drank it...OH MY! WOW, it was soooo smoooooooooth. Seriously, it tasted so great that I even enjoyed it without my typical sugar/syrup sweet boost. We are very excited. Today I met with Monte, our Vaneli's sales rep, and I was impressed. He answered my questions, ensured our grinder was adjusted correctly for this particular roast, and made sure I was properly trained. We are very excited to be carrying this new espresso and my whole team of employees are excited as well. It's nice to be carrying locally roasted beans too. I'd highly recommend this company for equipment repairs AND for their beans. However, if you want to buy the best espresso bean in the world, don't waste a trip to their Rocklin location, come buy their beans from my Roseville restaurant! We carry enough to sell some on the side and our slightly-higher prices are cheaper than the extra gas required to drive to Rocklin (assuming you're coming from West I-80). read more

WARNING! This is not a café--it is a local roasting company. And a fine good one, at that. Following Yelp inside, I was embarrassed to find that it was not an urban café, but rather a bunch of friendly guys sitting at their desks. Pong, the general manager, was super hospitable and offered to make me a complimentary latte anyway (which was quite smooth). I felt so bad (which Pong assured me not to), so I insisted on buying a 12 oz. of whole beans to make my mistake worth while. I carelessly picked the Guatemalan blonde roast--I should start making careless decisions more often!! This coffee is SOOO good. I drink my coffee with a splash of cream, and doctored accordingly this roast makes my whole body melt with satisfaction. I've been a pretty devout Peet's drinker at home, but after this Vaneli's roast, I'm a changed woman. Found this compay on yelp after talking to about 4 other companies about comercial espresso machine repair. I am about 70 minutes from Sacramento so any repair would require quite an expense just in the commute time. After talking to the other companies and having them explain to me that they were very familiar withmy machine and could fix my problem for around $500, I decided to make one more phone call before giving in to this big expense. I called Vannelli's and they were able to tell me how to fix the machine over the phone. AT NO CHARGE! I will definitely call them for all my espresso needs from now on. read more

I was looking for a new prosumer type espresso machine to replace one I had had for years. The staff at Vaneli's was amazing. They took the time to talk through and show me the machines as well as let me try them at the store. With the help of Monte's superb expertise, I decided on the LaScala butterfly. Monte and his team tested the new machine over the weekend, ensuring there were no possible tweaks needed due to shipment from Italy. Once machine performance was confirmed, they notified me and the machine was ready for pick up. They even met me at the store on their day off, knowing I was anxious to re-ignite my mornings with espresso! I knew it wasn't a cafe and that they were roasters, but when we came in no one greeted us. I'm giving three stars because there was cool espresso stuff to buy and I have my own Breville espresso machine at home. No one ever came out and so we couldn't get a coffee. I don't think they make them here even though there was a machine and bar setup. Bummer. I would have bought a new tamper or something if anyone would have come out. We recently purchased a prosumer espresso machine for our personal use from Vaneli's that we are sooooo happy with. The quality is excellent., it's the LaScala Butterfly. We had an Elektra Microcasa Semi-automatica that our local repair person couldn't fix. Vaneli's fixed that too & for only $200. Monte gave us lots of time showing and explaining all of the features of the new machine. Being able to purchase locally along with having great support after means so much to us. Being on the North Coast we're usually limited to internet sales. Our morning cappuccinos are so yummy, life is good! read more

I have been owning various espresso machines for more than 30 years and decided to upgrade. I contacted Vaneli's who offered a thorough demonstration of all the brands they have and I could not resist. I ended up with one of the Faema models. Monte, the gentleman who did the demo, is the best I have ever met in this business. He spent roughly two hours with me in the purchasing process and one hour training on delivery. To top it, he came to my house to make sure that every thing works as it should. In fact I have not experienced this kind of service with any retailer. Although I could see some internet deals that are cheaper, the face to face service and knowledge that I experienced with this retailer is worth way more than a difference on an internet deal. I strongly recommend a visit. This is a great retailer, great people, excellent coffee and they only carry brands they believe in. read more
