My family and I have been coming here since 2002. It's a great place to eat with family and friends. I known the manager Juan for a long time now and he has an excellent staff with perfect costumer serivce. I probably have ordered from the whole menu by now. Everything is tasty and good portions with low prices. My favorite thing to get are their breakfast grande burrito, fries, onion rings, sandwiches, burgers and their salads. it does get very busy in here and in the drive thru but there service is very fast. I was craving for the best tasting fried zucchini and unfortunately this place did not deliver. The zucchini was half cooked (the batter was still wet) and hard on the inside. I was disappointed as this was the first on the list. Their unsweetened iced tea tasted funky like It hasn't been replaced for a while. I am satisfied with their bacon cheeseburger. 4.5 Stars! Growing up in Los Angeles, there was always some kind of a "fat shack" like this. I guess I always took them for granted. I lived in Santa Barbara and San Diego after Los Angeles, and both those cities didn't have jack for burger joints like this. Whenever I head to Los Angeles, or Orange County, I try to hit one of these spots up. I usually roll with a burger of some sort, and then an order of fried zucchini or onion rings. Here is where Varsity Burger comes into play. I was browsing Yelp and noticed that 2 of my Yelp buddies had eaten here before and gave it a pretty favorable review. Pair that with its location about 5 minutes from my hotel, and I was sold. I decided to drive down here and hit the drive thru. I placed my order of a regular cheeseburger, an order of onion rings, and an order of fried zucchini. My total was just over $10.00 and I was handed my bag of goodies. About that.......this thing weighed about 5 pounds. I am not joking! You will see why in a minute. I got back to my hotel, tore the bag open, and here is how everything was...................... Cheeseburger- We were supposed to meet my friends for an early dinner, so I just went with a single cheeseburger. This thing came with the usual toppings of lettuce, tomato, thousand island etc. The burger patty itself had great flavor! It tasted like most char broiled burger shops do. The cheese was nice and melted and then bun was nice and fresh. The burger patty was pretty thin, so if you are hungry, I would definitely recommend a double! Overall, a solid cheeseburger! 3.5 stars. Onion Rings- Going back to my heavy bag reference..... I am not exaggerating when I say that there were AT LEAST 12 full sized onion rings (probably closer to 15-20) in this "tray". It was the biggest single order of onion rings I have ever seen! And you know what? They were gosh darn fantastic! They had a thin breading on them with lots of flavor! They come served with some ranch dipping sauce and they were flat out perfect. I loved them. Easily 5 stars and some of the best onion rings I have ever had! Fried Zucchini- Same as the onion rings...the fattest order of fried zucchini I have ever seen! There were at least 12-15 spears of zucchini in this order. The zucchini is cut thick in about 4 inch pieces. The breading was the same as the onion rings. Some places give you fried zucchini that is cooked too long, or is way too hot. These were perfect! Hot and fresh, yet they didn't explode hot juices in your mouth when you bit into them. I still prefer the smaller zucchini "fries" over large spears, but these were damn good and one order could feed 3 adults. 4 stars! Service was speedy and friendly. If I lived close by here, I would come here A LOT! Great food, ridiculously large portions, and extremely low prices make this a winner in my book! Tried this place for lunch the other day. It was very good! Priced very reasonable. We each ordered the bacon cheeseburger, and an order of chili cheese fries to share. The burgers were juicy and cooked well. Very tasty. Large enough to eat alone without sides. Bacon was crisp. Sauce complemented the burger well. The chili cheese fries are very large portion. Good for sharing. Chili was good, chunks of tomato were visible. Lots of cheese, and we got a side of chopped onions to top them off. We didn't finish them between the two of us. If you want a quality burger at an affordable price then Varsity Burger is a place you should come to. The burgers are large, flavorful and best of all relatively cheap. A burger combo along with fries and a large drink only comes to around $5.50 which is substantially cheaper than other places I used to frequent for the same meal. Varsity burger has plenty of seating both inside and out on the patio and a full service drive-thru as well. The menu is large and they offer up a great variety of american and Mexican food. The service here has always been friendly although the time it takes to get your food can be a bit hit or miss as they do tend to get very busy during peak dinner hours. I have always found the drive-thru to be a bit slower than going inside for whatever reason so I tend to park and walk in. They have a small salsa bar available inside along with the other various condiments for those who go the Mexican food route. Be sure to pick up a stamp card at the register as well for great deals on burger combos and burritos. The parking here can sometimes be a bit tough to find and the drive way leading in/out is often blocked so it can become a little tiresome at times trying to get in but it is definitely worth the wait. They are not cheap with the ingredients either, I asked for bacon to be added to the burger expecting 2 strips as most places and received 5 strips cooked perfectly. Varsity burger has quickly re-established themselves as one of my knew casual burger go to restaurants. I will definitely be back again! read more

One of the better burger/Mexican joint I've been to. We kind of stumbled upon this place while driving through the great city of Anaheim. First off, it's busy here. We came in on a Sunday afternoon and it was standing room only and had to move quick to get a table. I have to give the staff credit for keeping up and getting those table cleaned quickly. They have the usual burger fare here. They have the standard combo meals which come with fries. For a fee, you can upgrade to fried zucchini or onion rings. I went with the Bacon Cheeseburger with Onion Rings and the wife went with the Chili Dog with Fried Zucchini. I was impressed by the portions which are pretty large for what you pay. See photo, we paid about $15 including two drinks. As for the food, the chili dog was very good, probably one of the better ones I've had. The zucchini and onion rings were huge and delicious. The zucchini including a side of ranch dressing. The burger was the only downer as it was nothing special. It was very standard in regards to size and taste. After reading the Yelp reviews I was pulled in for a Pastrami and Chili fries. After eating at the Varsity I remember the downside to reading yummy yelp reviews, too much food. Good sized pastrami, but the bun got all wet. Wet buns are no good (on pastrami). The chili fries were a dinner plate full, heavy homemade chili is a gut bomb.
