I do NOT recommend coming to this Taco Boy location anymore. If you really want Taco Boy, go to the one on Euclid instead (895 S Euclid St Unit 1520, Anaheim, CA 92802). I've been coming here for over 30 years, and this used to be the OG spot before COVID. I'm not trying to hate on them -- I'm just honestly tired and disappointed with how much the quality has dropped especially since I pay almost $60 in food when I go. Things really changed after the older man who worked the front passed away and the good cooks left. Ever since then, everything has gone downhill. The new staff just isn't the same. The older lady at the front has always been rude, even before COVID. When I order 8-12 tacos, I ask for multiple salsa cups (they're only 2 oz each). I'll ask for nine, she gives me six, and if I ask for more, she hands them over with attitude. I've even offered to pay for extra salsa just to avoid the attitude, but it still feels like a hassle every time. Another issue is how unprepared they are. On Mondays, Saturdays, Sundays, and sometimes even during the week, they don't have basic vegetables like rabanos, carrots, or pickled onions -- things they've always offered. When I ask, they tell me they don't have anything and that they "only for sure have them on Tuesdays." How does that make sense? These are basic items they should have all week. The food has gone downhill too. I've tried pretty much everything over the years, but the biggest problems are with: * Tamales -- Big, but mostly masa with barely any meat. And the meat they do add is full of nerves and fat. * Tacos -- Same issue: tons of nerves, barely edible, and the tortillas are drenched in grease. * Tortas -- I pay $2 extra for beans and they never add them. The carnitas are full of fat and nerves, and I have to open the torta and clean it myself. The few clean pieces left barely make a decent bite. I'm just tired of paying for food and service that keeps getting worse. The Taco Boy on Euclid is way better -- they have salsas, onions, carrots, radishes, and more available for you to grab yourself, and the food is consistently good. I really wish this location would try harder instead of half‑assing everything. Photo 1: Tiny 2 oz salsa containers and how little salsa they give you, even when ordering 8-12 tacos. I think this place is solid Mexican food. The menudo is not great and the last time we had it. It was definitely old and not well made. I've been coming here since the early 80's and this review has nothing to do with food. The food is average but since I was raised nearby it's always been a sentimental favorite and although I no longer live nearby I still stop by when I'm in the area. Last night I came in for a champurrado and the size options on the menu are Med & Large, even though I'm fully aware of the sizes since I've been getting champurrado here for 4 decades. So the lady gives me the smallest cup she has when small isn't even an option on the menu. So I say "that's not a medium", and even though there are three cup sizes sitting on the counter right next to her she essentially refuses to give me what I paid for. Known for some of the tastiest, juiciest tacos in town and best deals on great tasting, authentic Mexican street food like tacos, tortas, sopes and burritos. Meat choices include asada (beef steak), carnitas (braised pork), al pastor (Shepard style pork), chorizo (sausage), pollo (chicken), buche (pork stomach), cabeza (beef head) and lengua (beef tongue). All tacos are street style sized - which is topped with minced onions and cilantro and about five inches in diameter - and $1.21 each. All the meat options are juicy and flavorful: savory, delicately seasoned and salty. The traditional meat choices, including asada, carnitas and even the pollo, were the tastiest and most succulent. I prefer them over the offal meats here. Like most taquerias you order at the counter. Staff is friendly and English speaking. There is a salsa bar in the back of the restaurant and includes pickled carrots and jalapeno peppers, sliced onions, radishes, limes, and a choice of salsa rojas (red sauce) and salsa verde (green sauce). There is a small shared private parking lot between the restaurant and the Juke Joint, a local bar directly on the other side of the lot. If a spot is not available, there is plenty of street parking next to or nearby the restaurant. Located in the heart of the residential section of Downtown Anaheim a few blocks east of the Packing District. Admittedly, the neighborhood could appear a bit "sketchy" and probably a lot more so in the evening. The tacos are worth a visit here, however, and they stay open late. This place has been a staple for many of us for years! We used to frequent the one that was next to Taco Bell on Euclid. Unfortunately it's a hit and miss with the food. They have a hole in the wall cantina and bar next door so the crowd is sometimes quite interesting especially late at night. They are open late I believe until 3am. When I got to the counter he looked at me, walked towards me, I said hi he pretended to be on his phone then gave me his back didn't say a word to me had me there like an idiot for about 5-10 min place was almost empty the people eating there just shook their heads.
