Okay so I booked the Supper Club on a Monday night after hearing such amazing and positive reviews. And honestly, it was a great experience. Specifically: Atmosphere-like WOW we loved the ambience, music, and the whole look and feel of the restaurant. Fancy yet elegant and classy and makes you feel upscale. Service- IMPECCABLE! You're never out of water, food is right on time, and each wait staff talks to you as if they WANT to get to know you, love it!!! Food- Food was mostly excellent, there were a few misses-too salty on the lamb chops (like very salty), the lobster couscous was very flavorful BUT with luke warm broth, some parts were hot and parts were cold (the lobster) which was weird and made the dish sub-par. Cocktails- AMAZING! they are worth the $$$, (hand-crafted) Dillon the beverage director is hands-on with your experience. He wants to make sure the cocktail is exactly how you like it and asks questions. He is GREAT!! Future Tip- They ask if you want "Still" or "sparkling" water. This review is for the supper club. What a fantastic experience. The supper club is definitely the high end experience in Fredericksburg. Decor is rustic inflections with modern. Old world pieces (armours and exposed barn wood beams) with white clean lines and modern art on the wall. Food. Seven courses of beautifully thought through food dishes. Loved ever single dish. Touted by reviewers as a great hidden treasure ok Fredericksburg, this place did not disappoint. Two lonely tables outside a furniture store are the only hint of what lies below the store. The menu has a rich variety of salads, appetizers and entrees. I had the Reuben which was a large portion perfectly filled with scrumptious pastrami, tasty mustard and tangy sauerkraut. My wife had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and collard greens. Excellent choice well accompanied by sweet tasty cornbread. And the huuuge cookie.. amazing! Delicious and loved the atmosphere! So welcoming and cool vibe. I think they may have had really good wines but we were there for lunch and did not imbibe. They use local ingredients at their restaurant, loved the presentation. I had the crab meat with asparagus quiche-it was so good, came with salad. The crust was a phyllo cup pastry, it was really good! My friend had a soup and loved it too. She later worked on her computer at their coffee bar while I shopped at other stores on Main Street. Our first night in Fredericksburg and we had dinner at Vaudeville. Unfortunately we didn't have a great experience. Our server was attentive and we ordered our meal fairly quickly. Five minutes later our salad came out - which we were enjoying - but then just five minutes later our entrees were delivered to the table. We never did finish the salad because we were worried our main entrees would get cold. This just ruins the whole experience and we felt really rushed. We had hoped the restaurant would do something to compensate us for this experience - but nothing. A total disappointment and not the way we wanted to start our time in Fredericksburg. read more

We brought our dog and our party of six plus our dog dined on their front porch. This was an excellent choice for a lovely lunch on our hill country/fredriksburgh trip. I chose it because of the great reviews. However, I was a bit skeptical when the restaurant called two days prior requesting a credit card. I almost cancelled since that seemed a bit over the top for lunch. However I didn't cancel and in the end, I was super impressed with this group--I called early morning day of our reservations to let them know we were running late and that we would like an outside bistro table since we brought our dog. We arrived to find they had reserved a special table on the front porch for our group . The town, the store, the restaurant was super busy so I actually did understand the need for the credit card to hold the table. Crazy how many people visit this town!!! We had such a lovely lunch. Great host, excellent server, nice menu variety (each member of our party found choices they were excited to order), flavorful preparations. We particularly loved the charcuterie board, our party was happy with the pork belly tacos, the turkey sandwich, lasagna special, ancient grains, and seafood gumbo. We also had a chocolate croissant and a salted caramel cookie. Each dish used fresh ingredients and the quality of the food was quite high. Would eat there again anytime I'm in this part of Texas! This could be one of the best places to eat in Fredericksburg... Once you enter Vaudeville you walk down stairs into the restaurant area and the character and charm combined with a fresh and small menu make eating at Vaudeville different from others in town. They have a daily special and the day we visited it was the lasagna. The lasagna had a white sauce with chicken, loaded with veggies and topped with a homemade ricotta cheese. The service was great, everyone's food came out perfect and looking delicious. Upstairs is a unique boutique store so be sure to check that out also before or after you eat. I came here after a day of bluebonnet frolicking w/some of my besties who were kind enough to treat me to a belated bday lunch and I could not have asked for a better birthday present! We had to wait for a table as we were a party of 5, but that just allowed us time to peruse their cheese, meats, and edible brick-a-brack selections as well as the eclectic home furnishing shop upstairs. First off...the cheese board and charcuterie here are just WOW!!!! Our server gave us a backstory behind each of the cheese and meat selections on our board and I am a sucker for the intricate history of ANYTHING I am about to put it my mouth. It was the equivalent of gastronomic foreplay and I was more than a willing participant! I'm seriously getting post-nom goosebumps just reliving that board! Secondly...let's talk about the Venison reuben and how so few places ANYWHERE do venison well, let alone correctly. This reuben was so full of flavor and ::gasp:: it was not overly gamey! Nothing kills my food hard-on like overly gamey anything. Let's just say, while I was partaking in my meal, I was less than quietly foodgasming. Thirdly, the little side salad that came w/the reuben was so visually stunning that I almost did not want to eat it! The avocado dressing that came w/it was just exquisite that I could not get enough! All in all, just an amazing visit and I am just sad that this place is a 90min drive from me...they need to just open a place in North Austin so that I can have my fix w/o blowing a tank of gas. I love me a good underground restaurant (top floor is an art gallery and ground level is a marketplace). So nutritious and voluminous! I ordered the power bowl and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was disappointed in our recent experience, this past weekend. We were referred to Vaudeville by the owner of the bed and breakfast we were staying at in Comfort, Texas. The restaurant itself is quite impressive. It is located in the basement of an art gallery. They have coffee, tea and assorted cafe treats :) We were seated right away and we decided to split the French dip. The waiter said that there would be a small splitting fee. I didn't think anything of it, thinking it would be a few dollars. WRONG. $6 later... The sandwich was ok. Nothing out of the world. It came with an undressed salad. Ew. And chips. The highlight of our visit was the coffee and cookie we are after lunch. We will not be back for lunch or dinner, but might stop by for a caffeine fix. read more

The Reuben can't be passed up! The pastrami is stacked nice and high on grilled marbled rye and paired perfectly with tangy, melted gruyer! The dill pickle also did its job well - providing a nice, crunchy change of pace to the delectable sandwich. The slightly spicy mustard and thousand island also provided a unique touch for the Reuben. I also ordered a blackberry lemon cashew cookie to go. Holy smokes! This cookie was HUGE. I cannot tell you what a gem this place was to find. We had been traveling for some time in West Texas making our way home to Houston. We wanted to grab lunch and decided to continue past the little towns of mundane meals we had been encountering and take the back roads through Fredericksburg. I have never been to this little town but was in heaven when I entered this place. First off it's located in the basement of an amazingly unique furniture store. I immediately fell in love with a mid centenary hand carved sofa that I may still go back for. But this review is about the bistro, not the store. As you enter the store you take a left down the wide wooden staircase to a beautifully adorned dining area. I could have just sat in this place drinking tea and typing away on my computer for the rest of time, well at least the day. It had a style that allowed you to feel you step out of west Texas into a posh yet rustic New York space. I immediately felt at home and felt a sense of reprieve knowing that if the food was anything as fabulous as the space I would leave delighted and all my past meals would vanish from my recent memory! The menu did not disappoint with a creative spin on some of the basics. Venison Reuben - so amazing! Words cannot describe the marvelous flavors they coaxed out of this meat and integrated components. The French dip was also scrumptious. The Au Jos was bursting with flavor as well. Dessert was also impressive from the light creaminess of the rice pudding to the rich thick custard of the crème brulle. They had a great selection of wine by the glass and many bottles filling the walls to choose form. We picked up a bottle to take home as well. I just can't say enough about this place. San Antonio Native review - overall I thought it was a nice place for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I had already eaten before, and it was really chilly weather outside so I the soup of the day was chicken tortilla soup which was really good. (See picture) the staff was friendly and nice, our wait was 30 mins so we wandered next door to a candy store and came back to grab our seats. Some of the comments mention about the staffs "rudeness" etc. I'd have to say for my experience the host was quick and sat us when we arrived to be seated. The waitress was busy but attentive. What you'd expect for a busy Sunday lunch rush. The only thing I'd have to say for not giving 5 stars is the staff wore their masks per-cautiously but the "manager" or "man in a tux" was not wearing his mask properly at all. I'm not sure about this place. The atmosphere is great but I really think the food is way too overpriced. I had the duck confit and my husband the Beef. The beef was just a roast for $45. I was thinking it was more of a steak. The duck was good but not amazing. I was disappointed. OMG! This is my favorite spot in Fredericksburg! I really wanted to keep it to myself. But now the secret is out. Came here on several occasions with friends and family. I love the fact it's a hip furniture store and a restaurant, quite unique. It's co-owned by two Canadian men. One is a chef, the other is an artist. Both of them wanted to pursue what they enjoy the most so they opened up this place. What a dream team! I got to talk to one of the owners and enjoyed the conversation. The furniture store is upstairs and restaurant is located in the lower basement. Let's talk about the furnitures and decors first. They were deff eye candies and I could spend hours here looking at them. The furnishing items and decors change quite frequently and some of them were hand picked from Paris! The underground restaurant is amazing. It has limited seating and is always packed because of the great food they have. I've only had lunch here once with a friend. It was deff on point. I plan on returning to try the dinner which is only offered on Friday and Saturday nights. Regardless it's not a cheap place but money doesn't buy class either. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary on a whim and I was pleasantly surprised. We were given a 30 minute wait time, which wasn't so bad for a Friday night without a reservation. The place was packed when we arrived so we decided to walk along Main St while we waited for a text alert. The atmosphere was nice - good lighting, music, wine selection, but the place was LOUD! Restroom upstairs was very clean and comfortable. The service was good - lots of water refills, friendly staff. The food was phenomenal! We ordered the mixed charcuterie board and both ordered the braised akaushi beef. The beef was so tender and the polenta and carrots paired perfectly with it. The desserts brought to other tables looked delicious, I wish we had room for some! Prices were higher than I'd typically like to spend but exceptions can be made for a special event.
