This is absolutely a gem! The restaurant is downstairs from a wonderful shop with such beautiful pieces and candles. The restaurant is dimly lit creating a very intimate setting with the most helpful staff. Amy served us and was helpful with recommendations and allowed us to slowly move through the menu. Every dish was wonderful, fresh, and tasty. The top dish was a surprise to me but the She Crab Curry soup was such a unique dish. Spicy and savory with the most comforting feeling. The wine recommendation was also superb and the dessert a great way to end the evening. I'll def come back!

Chill vibe at this eatery below the retail store. We came just before lunch ended at 4 pm on a busy Friday afternoon in Fredericksburg. Our server Brock was super friendly and suggested we decide on our order quickly, so he could get it to the kitchen before the shift from lunch to dinner. Brock mentioned that the craft sandwiches were big,so we decided on splitting the Rueben. Started with the Mediterranean plate, house made hummus, ricotta, olive,Baba Ganoush, chibatta toasted, wow high quality stuff and enough to share. The creamy ricotta was unlike any I've tasted, rich and probably could have stopped there. But no. High quality pastrami piled high on toasted marble rye with brussel slaw,1000 island split with Mrs D it was one of the best rueben. Craft cocktail Beleni was peach and bubbles, and a Belgian Pilsner by Ayinger ,both really satisfying after hiking Enchanted Rock Park. Fun, eclectic store to browse after lunch. A good time.

Vaudeville always knocks it out of the park: stunning food presentation, food is outstanding, impeccable service and great ambiance. They deserve more than 5 stars. Brock is top notch!

Amazing! Incredible! 100/10 stars!! Loved this place so much and so glad we came here for lunch. This was our first trip to Fredericksburg and I'm really happy we chose this place. We ordered the Mediterranean plate as an app and everything was so incredibly yummy! We were warned the sandwiches are large and they weren't kidding! We shared the club sandwich and WOW...whoever decided to add the apple butter is a genius! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Side note-the bread they use is out of this world!!! Perfectly crunchy but also chewy...best of both worlds! We also had to try a cookie, the s'mores one to be exact, and it was equally amazing. Cannot recommend this place enough!

On Wednesday, the soup was a beef and vegetable. I would have reduced the salt for my personal taste but it was a soup like one would find in any restaurant in France and perfectly fine.would love to have been here on Sunday to try their fried chicken. Today was grilled salmon day and Irene ordered it while I went with a Reuben to check out their bread. The Reuben was superb. One of the best that I've ever had. Just perfect. Salmon in a miso broth seemed smart as miso isn't strong enough a flavor profile to compete with and thus, ruin, the salmon flavor profile. I have a thing about chefs who garnish a salmon (or just about anything) with bitter micro greens cause it looks pretty (that you bite into and they ruin the other more subtle flavors). So miso seems a good choice as is white pepper for this dish. The pistachio tiramisu was "interesting ", but I wonder if they are using salted pistachios? If so, I note that this is a mistake. Switch to unsalted. Still, we did finish it between the two of us. But it was unpleasantly salty and I would recommend against it. Weird that the restaurant focuses on non local wines (Europe and California) when Fredericksburg is in the heart of the Texas wine country. Are they saying that the local wines suck? You'd think they'd try to find and champion the best of the locals instead of wines easily available elsewhere. A lot of times, when persons in the kitchen come from other cultures/countries, they may be trained to follow a recipe but may not necessarily have the culinary cultural map to know how to make minor adjustments before putting an entree out for consumption.

What a cool vibe this place has! To get there you need to walk into the store and then down some stairs to be seated at the restaurant. My husband and I shared the cup of gumbo and split the Rueben sandwich. The gumbo was incredible with a strong seafood flavor. The Rueben was probably the best one I've ever had. It had brussel kraut and a serious cheese pull with pastrami and incredible bread! The chips were crispy and delish. I was super surprised at how tasty the basic mixed green salad was. We came for lunch and will probably be back for dinner. It's just that good!

Loved my experience here! I do think this is a special event place, just because of the moody ambiance & the pricing. The pizza was amazing! We ordered the Chicken Pesto and Chorizo Salamanca & we sing nothing but praises! I also ordered a MÂCON-DAVAYÉ, CHARDONNAY, 2019 (I think) and I throughly enjoyed it! Big shoutout to our server who was super attentive and sweet! Can't wait to come back again next time I'm in town!

Vaudeville never disappoints! The crab and asparagus quiche was so rich and flavorful! And the fried chicken was crispy on the outside and moist inside. Service is always attentive and the music and low lighting make it feel special!

My husband and I arrived 20 minutes early for our Saturday night reservation hoping to get a cocktail at the bar before dinner, unfortunately the hostess said that they "don't allow waiting at the bar". I took that to mean that the bar is also by reservation only, but we were a bit off put by that. We were seated shortly after our reservation time and from that point forward we had a 10/10 experience. The restaurant itself is very dimly lit and vibey, perfect for a date night. Based on reviews I was a little worried that you were required to order from the pre-fixe menu on Friday & Saturday nights no matter the size of your party but that turned out not to be the case. To start, we shared a margarita pizza which more closely resembled a regular cheese pizza but was absolutely delicious. For our mains I ordered the grilled veggie salad and added the confit chicken and my husband ordered the duck confit. Duck confit is one of his all time favorite dishes and this one ranked as one of the best ones he has ever had. He let me have *one* bite and it really was divine. Overall we were really impressed with the food and would certainly recommend Vaudeville to any friends going to Fredericksburg.

    Ask the Community - Vaudeville

Can I bring my own bottle of wine for a corkage fee?

    Is Vaudeville good for kids?

Maybe not for younger kids. It is a small space and it's pretty quiet. But it would be fine for older kids.

Hoping to dine on A Friday evening... Do we need a reservation? How? I'm looking on your website and see nothing of the sort. Thanks!

They recommend a reservation. You can get on a waiting list but even that is booked up sometimes.

Are you open for breakfast on weekends?

They open at 11am for brunch. If you look at the menu pics on Yelp it will give you an idea of what options are available. Enjoy!

Is there an elevator at Vaudeville?

Hello Traci, we have an elevator that operates between our ground level showroom and our first…

Would you recommend a reservation for a party of five on a Saturday (lunch), or is walk-in pretty feasible?

Normally lunch time is a good time to go. Best to make reservations and they will send you a text message.

Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. This one wasn't terrible--it was worse. It was forgettable. And that's the real disappointment.

Right away, the service felt off. Our waitress didn't even ask if we wanted drinks before jumping straight to, "Are you ready to order food?" Then she disappeared for long periods, even though we were basically her only table besides one other couple. The food was extremely underwhelming -- basic, barely warm, and nothing memorable. On top of that, there were so many flies inside that we were nonstop swatting them away. And to make matters worse, there was a bug in my drink when it was served to me. That was pretty much the final straw. Overall, a very forgettable and disappointing experience. We probably won't come again, and I would not recommend it.

It's great the way it is, and trying to make it fancy doesn't make it better. But I've always thought that if a restaurant has only a few options on its menu, they had better all be great, and I didn't find that to be the case at Otto's. One of us had the schnitzel au gratin, which seemed more to be like a chicken Parmesan. I had the duck schnitzel. I would say they were just both OK. The fried potatoes that came with the au gratin schnitzel were left largely untouched on my companion's plate. There wasn't much flavor to my red cabbage, and my spaetzel seemed to be more like a modern day risotto. And this at a restaurant that makes you leave your credit card for a reservation and threatens to charge if you cancel less than 24 hours before. For that, it had better knock my socks off. My wife's dish, advertised a Greek Yogurt was more like they scooped some Yoplait into the bowl instead. There was some fruit chunks, but not near enough to justify the $13 cost. She said the carved strawberry was the best part of the dish and the granola was good, but certainly did not taste homemade. My dish was barely warm, the beans were way too soupy, and I had asked for over-medium eggs, but they came over easy. I sent it back and told the server the dish was lukewarm and the eggs were not prepared as requested. She quickly came back with another plate that pretty much had the exact same issues. Lukewarm beans and potatoes and over-easy eggs. Rather than send it back again, I ate less than half and called it quits. Our bill came to ~$40 and it was probably worth less than half that. Another tidbit is that we had to ask twice for coffee refills. The place was not really busy either. Not sure why it gets 4+ stars because I struggle with giving it 2. Our server was friendly, but there were a few communication hiccups throughout the meal. We were served bottled water without being told there was a charge, which caught us off guard since most nearby restaurants offer complimentary water. The server also offered chips and salsa as we were handed menus, so it sounded like a complimentary starter, but it's actually $10 on the menu. After waiting about 40 minutes, we decided to cancel the order (which turned out hadn't been entered anyway). Service was pleasant but inconsistent. One of our friends arrived a few minutes after us and ordered coffee right away, but her cup didn't come out until well after ours, and when it did, the cup wasn't very clean. Also worth noting that gratuity is automatically added for parties of six or more, and they don't split checks. We accidentally double-tipped, but the manager was kind and quickly resolved it. On the plus side, the space is casual, dog-friendly, and has plenty of shaded outdoor seating. The food was the highlight. My Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich was flavorful with crispy fries, my husband's Hideaway Burger was cooked well, and our friend's Chicken & Waffles were tasty, though a bit heavy on the waffle and light on the chicken. Overall, the food and atmosphere were good, but the lack of transparency around pricing and a few service missteps made the experience less smooth than it could've been. Decent spot, but I'd probably try somewhere else next time.
