I've been ordering from here for quite a while and have so go to standards. It can be hit or miss with the "chicken" and the "fake meats" but overall I am a big fan. The nuggets are the best! Order extra sauce cause you're gonna want to dip non stop. The mash potatoes are bomb! Also, as an added benefit you should get the cake, my lady and I order delivery sometimes just for the cake and order extra drinks to hit the minimum. So, the soy chicken nuggets are the crispiest things I've ever had. The salt and pepper soy chicken tenders are crispy and oh my god I'm drooling right now. They are just to die for. They are the perfect snack food. I love them. They come with the most amazing barbecue sauce as well. Wasn't a huge fan of uh, well, anything else, because I don't quite remember the other foods my friends and I ordered. They weren't as remarkable as the godly fake chicken appetizers. Good juices, pretty terrible food. Lots of fried non-food creations of fake meats that leave you feeling bloated and icky. We had two of the juice blends which were extremely delicious and well priced at $4.50, then had two appetizers (Tofu rolls and Banana Chicken Rolls) both were okay at best. Very fried, very tasteless otherwise. For the entree we shared the peking duck and tangerine beef, the duck came with flour tortillas and not crepes and the duck was tofu skin fried without much flavor and just disappointing. If I wasn't such a buffalo wing connoisseur I perhaps would dabble in the vegetarian lifestyle. No who am I kidding? I love me some meat! But I also like soy products that make me believe that I'm biting into a baby animal with a little less guilt. I love this place. They seem to deliver everywhere. O.K. well they deliver to Crown Heights and Fort Greene and for me that's all that really matters in the world. My friend Sade, took me here because she knows I am vegetarian and she used to eat here. I loved my meal I had sesame chicken w/brown rice it was so good. I had a cold so I order this vitamin c drink which was okay (I didn't get the "cold burst"). Sade ordered general tso's chicken which was good too and my other friend order this shrimp dish which she did not like and wished she had ordered what we had ordered. I had no idea that a vegetarian meal could taste as real (but so much yummier) as traditional chinese food. The only thing we weren't too keen on were the rolls. The filling of the rolls were kind of mushy. They tasted OK, but the texture wasn't happening. However, the other dishes were delicious and spot on. The portion size would easily feed two people. The veggies were crisp and cooked to perfection. I like that this vegetarian/vegan place is in the area. However, what I ordered was tasteless. I ordered crispy tofu and miso soup. The crispy tofu come in the shape of HUGE balls. The outside is crispy but the tofu inside is wet and mushy. Seems like they didn't strain the tofu before using it... doesn't even seem like they used firm tofu. It was absolutely tasteless and mushy. Gross really. The sauce they gave me for it was tasty. The miso soup was mediocre at best. I hate the kind of sea weed they used. Oh my goodness, how I love Vegetarian Palate! How did I live in this neighborhood for a whole six months before discovering them? In the space of two weeks I've ordered from them three times. The crispy nuggets - otherwise known as "OMG CRISPIES" - are just as addicting as other reviewers say. They are even good cold out of the fridge the next day! Just make sure to dunk them in the sauce that comes with them. I also tried the hot and sour soup-- twice, the tangerine beef-- twice, and the mango chicken, just to change it up a little. The hot and sour soup is really incredible - it's got all kinds of good veggies, mushrooms (little straw ones and the scary ones I refuse to put in my mouth), tofu, and mysterious protein things. The tangerine beef is a pile of slices of chewy "meat" in a sorta-sweet, sorta-spicy sauce that also tastes great the next day. Why do I keep going on about leftovers? Oh, because they give you an impossibly large amount of food. I'm talking dinner for me AND my roommate, and still enough left over for both of us. The only downside is that two of the three times I've ordered they've gone over their stated delivery time. I wish they'd just increase the estimated time so that I wouldn't be anxiously waiting. I ordered with some hesitation. But I was lazy and wanted to use GrubHub, Im in Clinton Hill, so good luck getting affordable Asian food via delivery using online ordering. This is place is pretty awesome if you are in the mood for fake meat, especially fried & breaded. The entire menu is veggie. The menu is ridiculously similar to Vegetarian Paradise 2 in the Village, and they have Crispy Nuggets that are IDENTICAL to VP2's Crispy Soul Chick'n (right down to the dipping sauce)!!! They have some excellent dishes, but I was not a big fan of the Spare Ribs or the Crispy Fish Divine (although it tasted better when I re-heated it the next day). Corn Chowder was great, the rolls are awesome (the curry roll is my fav) and I did enjoy the Scallion Pancakes (not too greasy). But I can't help myself, I always end up with at least an appetizer of the Crispy Nuggets. I would prefer VP2, but I live in Brooklyn, and Vegetarian Palate delivers to me :D Portions are HUGE, prices are fair, slightly cheaper than VP2 and they also use www.seamlessweb.com for online ordering. Since I don't eat soy, my choices are usually limited so I was happy to see that there were plenty of vegetable dishes. It was a little deceiving when some of the descriptions had started with "chicken"...or "beef".... so I thought hey, win win! They have more fake meat dishes on one menu than I have ever seen. They even have fake fish (salmon, shrimp, eel, etc.) which is hard to come by (and though i didn't try it, i heard great things). I called the restaurant and the girl on the phone said the delivery guy was new and didn't know the area. She said she'd call the delivery guy and find out his ETA. The Mango Chicken dish is AMAZING. I have to go there every time I am in Brooklyn. The setting and service is simple. I haven't tried other things on the menue but this dish (which is big enough to share between two people) has wonderful sauce, is served hot and in the shell of the mango whose fruit is in you dish! We didn't receive our drinks until after we finished the main course. It was Mother's Day so maybe that was a factor. The staff was very nice and as helpful as they could be. Lion's Head. Enough said. Seriously though, I love this place. The aforementioned dish is a must have: textured balls of proteinous goodness sitting on a bed of cooked greens. My stomach is smiling just thinking of them. Other tasty choices include the crispy nuggets (though not very Asian), the vegetarian peking duck ("are you sure this is vegetarian?"), Ebony and Ivory (stir fried mix of mushrooms and other veggies), and the banana chicken rolls (again, not really Asian, but quite delicious). I plan to try everything on the menu before I die, lets just hope we're both around long enough... If you're planning on eating in, know that the decor of the place is a step above Chinese take out. It's pleasant enough, but it certainly isn't going to win any awards. Also, there's no beer or wine, though you're welcome to bring your own. For some, that might be a deterrent, but I think it kind of adds to the charm. When I get there, I place my bottle on the table and the server quickly brings water and wine glasses, and deftly uncorks my wine with a smile on his face. What a joy. The one negative comment I do have is in regard to the rolls (spring rolls, etc.). Though they are tasty, they are way too greasy for my taste. Happily, that can be solved by not ordering them. Easy! Vegetarian Palate recently moved to my neighborhood. I am happy to see this unique restaurant so near to me. The food is good, service is fine. It is a small restaurant, nice and clean. I think the restaurant has great potential if the owner/operator have a bit more vision, e.g., looking professional, smiling friendly to customers, looking sweet and charming. Even if you sell a lot of take-out but you don't have to appear as a take-out restaurant. So I received my order confirmation via seamless at 5:37 and had my food in hand at 6:00. I ordered the mango chicken and curry rolls. Everything was piping hot and extremely fresh tasting. The rolls were solid in that it satisfied my desire for something fried, but it wasn't the most flavorful I've eaten. But the mango chicken.....AMAZING! Tasty, abundant, hot, fresh, just outstanding overall. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they didn't bring it up. They called and I went down.
