The service was very friendly with constant refills of very crisp, high quality water. The ambiance is simple and "feels like home". The Kobe Bowl was our favorite with an incredible flavor when combined together: Kobe beef, grilled onions, rice, lettuce wrap, and chili paste. You can skip on the lettuce wrap but you can't skip the chili paste! The corn chowder was amazing with an amazing creaminess and sunflower seeds giving a nice crunch. The Chicken Tenders Curry was a bit of a let down for us as we were craving a spicy, creamy curry like we've had in Japan. This curry has almost no heat, a tad of creaminess, and a ton of cinnamon. We went to the soft opening of VegiOasis which was VegiLicious before. The menu is the same and taste of food is the same as Vegilicious because previous owners handed down recipes to the new owners before moving back to Japan. The culinary is Japanese. It is 100% vegan and organic!!! The place is relaxing with good vibe atmosphere. Service was friendly and staff welcomed customers back! They need customers so please support this vegan restaurant! We had Chef's Green Salad with sesame ginger dressing, miso soup, vegan Kobe beef bbq bowl on multigrain rice, tempeh Japanese curry on multigrain rice, and then shared a vegan ice cream sundae. Curry sauce is made in house. Food was tasty, healthy (not oily), and fresh. Quality is up there! Unfortunately this place is far from our home. They are both so sweet and accommodating and make menu items that you really can't find vegan nearby. I shared the teriyaki chicken, Kobe beef, and steamed vegetables with miso sauce. We loved the Kobe beef the most and also loved the sauce that came on the steamed vegetables. I wish that the dishes were more veggie heavy because they do come with a lot of rice and are very expensive for what you get. This is the cutest and healthiest place to go as a vegan. It is expensive, but your meal is made by this kind Japanese couple who work by themselves and maintain the restaurant. They were so friendly and kind. The woman named Ana was so sweet and her husband was so friendly and came to our table to introduce himself. There definitely is a longer wait time if the restaurant is busy, but if you are looking for a calm, peaceful, and rejuvenating, this is the place. The water is even supposed to be hydrogenated and be put through a special purifying system that gets rid of metals and other toxins. The rice they use in almost every dish is also unique. It was a purple rice that is supposed to be better for your gut and health with less starches. It tasted delicious and was perfect in the onigiri. This place is known for their Vegan Kobe Beef, and while I thought it was good, I can't say I noticed a large difference than other vegan meats. That also could have been from the spices in the curry. It was very flavorful and probably made it harder to detect the uniqueness of the beef. The teriyaki bowl was good too, but I was surprise at how spicy it was. It was not too spicy but there definitely was a kick in it that I did not expect. It was good though despite the surprise in flavor. I would definitely recommend this place for couples looking to try fancier vegan, but it is not really a kids place. It was very quiet inside. Also, they do close relatively early, but they try not to kick anyone out. They are a very sweet couple that has a great business. I've never been to a more thoughtful establishment. VegiLicious gave me one of the most pleasant dining experiences in my entire life. It's a little gem tucked into the plaza with a small hanging sign. The store is really charming and has a cute zen aesthetic to it. It's operated by the sweetest couple, who also run the entire place by themselves; truly, it's the most personal kitchen-to-table experience you'll get dining out. It does garner up quite the wait, but it's well worth it! As you're waiting for your food, it's nice to check out the literature they put together on being environmentally conscious. Also note that they use great quality water in their cooking! Lastly, they also sell some merchandise in the front. My mom had the corn chowder with her grilled teriyaki chicken, and I had the Kobe BBQ bowl. Everything was really good, perfectly portioned and balanced in flavor. It's impressive how they made all of this vegan, because most of the elements to these dishes traditionally are still there. It wasn't greasy, and I was full but didn't feel heavy. I feel like you can't go wrong with anything on the menu (and it's got plenty of options, too!). I also enjoyed how they had different choices for grains. We also got the iced matcha, and I appreciated how authentic and well-graded it was. The prices may seem a bit much, but I felt that it was reasonable given it's how expensive most vegan joints are; in fact, given the quality and thoughtfulness of every single ingredient (including the water!!!) that went into everything, it's a steal. This restaurant open only for a few weeks, I love the owner and customer service is really nice. Foods are good, but their portion is too little for the price though. Just a little feedback: Spicy ramen miso soup: the bowl is big but the noodle is so little. Need to add more noodles and more spicier, can't really taste the spicy at all when eat the soup. Corn chowder: too salty, I think less salty will be better. Kobe beef bowl: is good but need more vegetables to it would be better. It's a little pricey for the food because of the location I think. Vegilicious looks like a Japanese version of a casual, laid back, macrobiotic hippie, new age café . We sat in the front patio under salmon pink clouds at dusk. Our waitress is friendly, thoughtful, kind. Not a place to eat if on a tight schedule since it is a place to hang loose and enjoy the moment. SInce the restaurant is small, it is advisable for groups of 6 or more to call ahead to give a heads up. Menu is totally vegan: 1) Vegi App: lightly steamed vividly colourful broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, Èda Mamè. Thick sauce is a mixture of Miso/fermented soy beans, Shōyu/soy sauce, vegetable oil, perhaps Kombu/kelp Dashi/broth. 1a) Èda Mamè: steamed & sprinkled w/ sweet sea salt. 2) Kōbe BBQ Bowl: thin sliced "beef" is a soybean derivative that mimics medium rare steak that like Kōbe beef has a "marbled" fattiness slathered w/ a thickened, sweet Teriyaki sauce. 5 grain rice seems mostly Genmai which is partially polished rice w/ the nutritious germ still attached. Healthful fibre, that allows body waste to exit the body faster and thus prevents bowel cancer, is still present so the rice is pleasantly chewy. Because the fibre has to soak in water longer to soften up, the texture of the rice is also soft. Garnish of chiffonade of dried red peppers, toasty, white sesame seeds, chopped green onions rounds out the flavours. 1-2a) Matcha Green Tea: Dark jade green, astringent, grassy slaked thirst as well as clearing the palate of the stronger Teriyaki sauce & fatiness of the "meat". Byob'ed Japanese Sakè (sah keh) which also brightened and highlighted the all vegan repast. 3) Coconut Ice Cream: Creamy, sweet, at the same time had granita-lIke mIcroscopic ice crystals. 3a) Tiramisù: Coffee, smooth, creamy "dairy". Both desserts have squiggles of dark chocolate, sliced almonds, walnuts. I'm an omnivore w/ high emphasis on vegetables. I found food here to be satisfying, filling, interesting. Good way to cleanse the body of animal proteins that can convert to nitrosamine residue that may cause cancer. Vegilicious is a great way to be kinder to the environment and perhaps attain a more balanced diet. read more
