We made a mental note to try this place, after some favorable reviews from friends. Stopped by for breakfast today, around 9:30 or so, no crowds, so we were able to sit outside in the shade. Menu was very appealing, I ordered the eggs Benedict with chipotle, avocado and bacon. Very good. Came with a side of potatoes, just ok. Husband ordered omelette that was to have asparagus, mushrooms and goat cheese. However, they had just run out of mushrooms( before 10AM??). No problem, he asked to substitute tomato, which they did. His came with one piece of toast and potatoes. Both entrees were nicely prepared and very good. As a side, I ordered fresh squeezed orange juice, which I still have my doubts about its being freshly squeezed, I asked and was told yes...still doubt it...no pulp, very smooth. All that said, we enjoyed our meal and will be back. Try it. Good food. read more

Pretty terrible experience. We had a 7:00PM reservation for six. Order was taken by 7:15PM. We waited over one and a half hours for our food to arrive. Terrible service and not better food. The salmon was dry and overcooked, along with it being cold. Not terribly impressed with the concern of the restaurant. They comped us a drink, only to add it back on the final tab. Do not waste your time. Bad service and bad food do not make for a pleasurable meal. read more

We went here for breakfast yesterday and it was wonderful. The chicken and waffles were amazing, as was the crepe and breakfast tacos. The eggs Benedict were good too! It sounds odd but even the seats were super comfortable. We will definitely return. The only potential negative was no air conditioner. They had fans on but it was a tad warm. I'm not sure if there's no AC at all or if it was broken but keep it in mind if it's a hot day. read more

During a Saturday afternoon I had breakfast with a party of six. The overall experience was a 6/10. Here's why: The dining room is very small so there wasn't much space for my party of six as we were told to wait 15 minutes for an available table; this was not necessarily an issue but just a slight inconvenience as we were hungry. However if you a group of 6 or more I wouldn't recommend arriving here unexpectedly I would suggest you call ahead so a table is prepared. Our waitress was polite but very to the point. This could be a positive or a negative depending on your preference. She was very attentive though in refilling our waters and drinks. When we were served our drinks, a member in my party ordered a cup of coffee unfortunately the creamer used in his coffee was old and Coagulated. This was an inconvenience as it was quite disgusting. The Chicken and Waffles I ordered were very good though. The chicken was well seasoned and fried, the waffle was delicious. The bacon was cooked to perfection and potatoes were very fresh. The food was priced intermediately reasonable and portions were proper for the quality and serving. Overall me and my party enjoyed ourselves at our breakfast apart from the inconvenience of the spoiled coffee. The overall experience was a 6/10. I rate 4 stars because of the coffee, and the fact that there is always room for improvement. I would recommend Velo Cafe and I would definitely eat here again. read more

They don't adhere to Covid safety rules!!! The owner came over to our table while we were eating to ask us how we were and we respectfully (with a smile)asked for him to cover his nose with his mask. When we are sitting in our car getting ready to leave , he approached our car and yelled at us that we have no right to ask him to cover his nose and we are no longer welcome at his restaurant! We dined here for the first time this week. I know it's Covid so that should be taken into consideration -- the ambiance was nice, good music, cute little outdoor table. It even rained for a little bit. The menu was small but looked good. We had the octopus appetizer which was a little Unconventional and tasty but overly seasoned. This was the case with the salmon dish as well - just overly seasoned. My steak was overcooked. Overall, it was okay...service was solid. Regardless, great location on Atlantic avenue to eat outside. Food is good, prices are a little high for a brunch spot, depending on what you get but whatever - it is a resort area. The most delicious lunch with a friend. The iced coffee is very good and strong. Ordered the grilled veggie wrap with grilled chicken added and it was wonderful. After seeing other reviews and pictures of the Velo cafe on Yelp I grew interested in trying out the spot myself. When we got inside we were able to pick our own table and we did have to wait a little bit to get a menu and water even though it was very busy, but otherwise service was great. We ended up getting the brunch board for the day which is meant for two people but honestly for us we could have easily had a third person and it was extremely affordable. The board came with 10 pancakes, fruit, scrambled eggs and bacon. The original board was meant to come with sausage as well but we substituted them for home fries at no additional cost. My only comment about the food was that I wish the eggs were more seasoned but there are salt and pepper shakers at most tables. Our table in particular, since it was a smaller table, did not have them. I would go back here again to try the lemon ricotta crepes and would definitely get the breakfast board again. read more

Have had a few brunches here and every time has been a wonderful experience. The food is creative and delicious. We haven't tried anything that disappointed but the Orale Benedict and the chicken and waffles have been highlights and of course you have to have a Frappe to get the day started. More than anything the owners and staff are amazing. They're so enthusiastic about what they're doing and make you feel like part of the family. They serve Lavazza coffee, which is a huge bonus in my books. It's so hard to find places with good coffee at the shore. Looking forward to going back and trying the lunch menu. What an unbelievable breakfast. The sweet potato rounds for the banana peanut butter dish and the eggs Benedict is unbeatable. This service is super friendly and very attentive. They're also open to making adjustments to the dishes. They're starting to be open for dinner next week and I think it's definitely something I'll be trying. read more
