Servers are doing the best they can with bad changes. The menu prices are ridiculous now! PURCELLVILLE is NOT D.C. no matter how much the new owners want it to be. Drinks are WAY OVERPRICED since the update. "Velocity Wings" was a local meeting place for people to have decent wings and a few beers. "Velocity Bar & Kitchen" is an overpriced clone of every other restaurant brand owned by the parent company. Most of the entrees are from other restaurants owned by them. Just go to Maker's Union, Matchbox (formerly known for pizza), Milk & Honey or any of the other Thompson Hospitality brands for the same food. Velocity Wings... you are missed. First visit since the new branding and remodeling and I have to say pretty disappointing. Arrived at 10pm on a Friday night. Closing time is posted as 11pm. What would have previously been a busy Friday evening, found the new space absolutely empty except for maybe 4-5 other people in the bar. We ordered drinks and dessert. No coffee available ("we already dumped it because we're too close to closing"). All of the music in the bar sounded like it was being piped in from the Mexican space down the strip. It was all latin music with spanish lyrics, which while there's nothing wrong with it, doesn't exactly match the vibe that one expects walking into an American themed restaurant/bar in our town. Literally we all commented about how out of place it seemed. Dessert (pecan pie and a brownie sundae came quickly. Small portions of what was obviously frozen desserts, but also reasonably priced). The cocktail was overpriced and while it tasted fine, was ungarnished. I did appreciate the block of ice, but it definitely was in an undersized glass, which made the drink look larger than it actually was, especially given the size. Most annoying was the feeling of being rushed and essentially being ushered out by the staff. Last call was announced at 1019. The server asked if plates with food still present on them could be removed at 1022. Check was offered while still actively conversing. We paid and sat for a few more minutes talking, but it was pretty obvious they wanted us out (turning off lights in the public space about 1040 was pretty indicative of that)... I was willing to give them a shot after the renovation, but it was a huge miss for what should have been an easy visit on a Friday night. It's pretty apparent this place should be posted with an 8 or 9pm close time. We won't be back. read more

I'm here post Covid with a Velocity Wings update. Wings are still awful. I just cannot understand it, it's in the name so shouldn't that be the thing you get right? While I was there there was a customer was complaining about how dry the food was and he was right. This food is the worse. I came all the way from Winchester to come eat a velocity wing and to see the rebranding. I was more than disappointed, but distraught. i've been coming to velocity since high school and I'm now a college graduate and it's not the same. me and my friend had to abruptly leave because we felt so uncomfortable with the new renovation. we literally said we had an emergency and then left and went down the street to Casa tequila instead. shout out to casa tequila and shout out to the hostess at velocity wing for understanding. The ambience was bland and boring, and there was only two tables with people in it. i'm not sure if this place is getting enough customers, but I think we need to make a petition to change velocity to go back to normal. fuck the new manager. read more

One of the wing/sports bar venues in P-ville, this place is hit or miss according to locals and the reviews. My visit here was the last Friday of March for some college b-ball, wings, and beers with my fellow sports-watching friend. Since it was during spring break, the venue was dead as there were only a handful of people there. Seemed like there are a good amount of regulars who frequent the place based on the conversations the bartender was having who mentioned the place being a hopper on Thursdays-Sundays. I couldn't help but notice march madness deals involving the beers which made us order a couple pitchers and I added 10 wings to go with it (spicy bleu cheese, maple bourbon bacon). I'm glad pitchers exist which are good deals and probably the best part of this establishment. As for the wings, they are large but heavily drowned in sauce and a couple were a bit chewy; maybe the kitchen got lackadaisical due to the volume. While I like my wings saucy, there were several wings that were dripping heavily. The maple bourbon bacon sauce is very sweet with tons of bacon bits. The spicy bleu cheese is bleu cheese dressing with buffalo sauce mixed; not a bad wing flavor. There's live music on Friday, we had some guy playing acoustic covers of 90's hits. I was entertained as I grew up in the 90's. There's also plenty of TVs for sports and the bartender will change the tv to whatever game/event you prefer depending on who's watching it. There's several velocity wing locations in the Northern VA area which have identical atmospheres and typical sports bar things. I wouldn't mind stopping back in here next time I'm in P-ville and trying other wing flavors or other eats. read more

I stopped by Velocity last Thursday on the way back from work and was pleasantly surprised. Initially, I planned to grab some wings since it's in the restaurant name plus some beer, but ended up calling an audible and got the bacon bacon cheeseburger - what could go wrong?? For a wing joint, it turned out way better than I thought. The burger was a classic and perfectly cooked with no extra frills - just what I wanted after a long day. Also shout-out to the bartender Brittany who was super friendly and got me to exactly what I needed (booze and burger). Will absolutely be back for the wings. We've lived in the area for about 3.5 years and, for no particular reason, had not yet made it to Velocity Wings. But then our daughter's school had a Spirit Night there so we decided to go. Well, let me tell you, I'm bummed we haven't tried it sooner!! They were pretty busy on this particular night but we were seated right away. The dining room is okay, but then put some tables between two rows air booths so it be a bit of a tight fit. But nothing too crazy. Our booth had a TV so it would be an okay place to watch sports. There are also a couple bar areas if you wanted to sit there. Service was good. The only complaint I would have is that, for some reason, our daughter's max and cheese came out 5-10 minutes after the rest of our dinners. And we had to remind them. But I give them a pass due to the spirit night rush. The waiter was knowledgeable and gave recommendations on wing flavors to my husband. We were also pleasantly surprised that they have some additional wing flavors not on the menu... much to my daughter's delight who loves Old Bay on her wings. Now about the food... they have this great option to add five wings as a "combo" to any meal. So you don't have to decide between wings and something else. The wings are large and cooked well. But I was most in love the the Black and Bleu Steak salad I got. It was sooo good! Seriously, I'm craving it right now! My husband split his order between Island Dry Rub and Memphis Dry Rub. The Memphis was just okay for him but he enjoyed the Island Dry Rub so much he was trying to eat the remnants using his celery! Velocity Wings is a great local option for good food and it bout a stuffy atmosphere or getting too loud. We will definitely be going back read more

I strongly recommend that you ask to have your burger on grilled sourdough bread instead of their usual brioche bun. I'm gonna start with service, my server Megan was delightful and so accommodating. She was also very understanding during our mishap with our meals. But I'll get to that in a minute. I love the music that they play, very clean and not crowded. Easy to sit here and have a conversation with my family.No, I'm not a snob but when it comes to wings, I have a certain expectation. The wings were fine, as far as being cooked goes. In all my years I have never once been told by a chef that the wing sauce is supposed to be ice cold on my deep fried wings. It came to the table and I was so excited, didn't taste like, honey chipotle, just tasted like a buffalo sauce. Then literally I felt terrible for our server because she you could tell she felt awkward when she came back and was told to tell us that wing sauce is supposed to be cold on hot wings or that this particular sauce is supposed to be cold. which there were only four sauces because I asked that were able to come hot and then the rest of the many many sauces, are supposed to be cold. Anyway, we will not be back and that's super disappointing. We came up from Fairfax VA to visit our dearest Walter. To our surprise we walked in to Walter serving tables. We were completely caught off guard. After chatting with Walter we decided to take are time and money else were. We support Walter not the company. His bar knowledge and humor is unmatchable. He created lots of friendships and memories behind Fairfax bar. We would like to talk with the manager that appears to have demoted fairfax #1 and our favorite bartender to a server in Purcellville. Not the best wings I've ever had, but they were pretty dang good! We came here after getting home from an international vacation, and it really hit the familiar American food itch. They have a ton of different flavor options for their wings which made it hard to choose. We ended up getting medium, spicy crab, spicy garlic, and Carolina reaper. The medium was a good standard Buffalo wing. The spicy crab had great flavor and was probably my favorite. The Carolina reaper was SPICY, but still tasty. The spicy garlic wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it was more garlic than spicy - it had a ton of pieces of garlic on it - but it wasn't bad. I wish I could have tried more of their sauces, but I guess I have to come back! The fries were thin, salty, and crispy, which is exactly how I like them. read more

Feedback is in two parts. Food quality is fine, Velocity is local to us, and we've frequented the Purcellville and Lovettsville locations regularly. This past weekend I stopped in the Lovettsville location and picked up 20 boneless wings and a side salad. With tax and tip my cost was $60. Now, clearly food costs are up all over but walking out with my food items it just struck me as excessive. I told my wife if I'm going to spend $60, we can do better elsewhere. As a consumer, I have choices and will have to seek out other establishments where to cost is more aligned with the food experience. read more

We have been eating Velocity Wing food since they opened. They stayed open during the covid shutdown and we all appreciate that. Great food. Two drawbacks. The music is way too loud. No way to carry on a normal conversation so we only get our food for take out. The kitchen has had problems counting the wings for our orders . Suggest you count the wings if you have a to-go order. Despite the count written on the box, we end up 5 or 10 wings short on a 20 count order. Highly recommend the Lemon Pepper wings. read more

Shame on velocity wings as one of Walter's regulars in Fairfax I feel compelled to leave a review. I've spent countless nights at Velocity in Fairfax hanging with Walter the bartender. He is very fluent and confident in what he does. Hes hilarious and clever also. Walter also helped me through a hard patch I had in my life showing me he actually cares about the people he serves not just there for a tip. I recently was talking with his regulars down here in fairfax and what I heard made me cash out and leave. There will be no more support from me or my family. This company needs to re check employees laws cause the story presented to me come off extremely race motivated. He was forced out of his position because of his appearance. I came here and got what I usually got: the honey crab wings, they always hit, after waiting 30 minutes they brought out buffalo wings( I can't eat buffalo sauce) when I brought it up to our server he just said "oh ok" and when the manager came out she tried to convince me that they were in fact honey crab wings, the Honey crab wings are just old bay and honey and she still tried to argue, overall terrible service! read more

I was craving some wings so we decided to head over to Velocity Wings in Purcellville. I ordered 20 bone in -- 10 with hot and 10 with habanero sauce and water. Unfortunately, the wings were under cooked, and chewy. When I bit into the wing, the skin was elastic-like and snapped back towards the wing . Fortunately, the meat was not pink. A good wing should not be chewy. It should be crispy and crunch a little when you bite into the skin if it it is cooked just right. I ate a few and could not stand it anymore so I asked the server to have the other set of 10 wings cooked further. They cooked the wings with the sauce another minute or two and the wings were dipped in fresh sauce. I don't know about cooking the wings that were already coated with the sauce, but they did taste better. The wings crunched and the skin was not chewy and elastic. I ordered water and iced tea. I hate to say it but the water tasted terrible. It tasted metalic and dirty like... Fortunately, the highlight of the night was the server. She was attentive and empathetic and did what she could to make our dining experience better. read more
