I basically only order the Fried Paneer Taco - 1. Because I'm vegetarian and married to an Indian man so I already have an insane love for paneer and 2. Because out of all the vegetarian options they have, this one is THE BEST! The queso blanco is also amazing! It's thick, creamy and delicious. Everything a queso should be!! Heads up - it comes with Chimmichurri, heat sauce and cilantro in it BUT if those aren't your thing, you can ask them to remove them. They're not open as absurdly late as they used to be, but they consistently sling creative, tasty, and filling tacos, and they do so quickly. My consistent favorites are fish & chips, Buffalo chicken, tikka masala, & Nashville hot tofu. The tater tots are sent from the heavens. They can be stingy with condiments, I definitely recommend ordering a side or 10 of avocado crema with literally everything. Their online ordering tool is meh and doesn't allow for notes. My friend described the tacos at Velvet Taco as "frou frou" and she meant that in a good way lol. I was intrigued and wanted to try it out so we decided to stop in for a quick dinner. When I finally arrived, I took a look at the menu and realized why she called it frou frou. With options like chicken & waffle and shrimp & grits, this is definitely a step up from your typical taco joint. There's a good variety of options (beef, chicken, fish, veggie, and pork). The variety actually made it difficult to choose one but I went with the Slow Roasted Angus Brisket (#12). The brisket was really good and the taco was filling. The tortilla had a nice crispiness to it and the flavor of the salsa with the meat was delicious. One taco was plenty. I had a St. Arnold Summer Pils with it and it was good. It took forever for me to find parking. They have a small lot, but it was hard to find a spot. There is a lot of construction in the area that just adds to the difficulty. I finally gave up and just parked at the restaurant next door. We opted to sit on the patio which was perfect because I could monitor my car to make sure it didn't get towed (it didn't). They're open until 4 am on Friday and Saturday nights which is great for the late night crowd. With the exception of parking, I liked this place. The service is quick and the food is good.
