Really enjoyed Verde, and this is with NO drinks (yet)! Be forewarned, they're pricey (and they have the audacity to CHARGE for chips & salsa). By far the best Mexican food for your money in the Brookhaven area, The service is great, and even when there is a large line, it moves quickly. I've eaten here too many times to count, and will be back many more times! I would highly recommend the trio (comes with salsa, guac and an amazing cheese dip) and the black and blue quesadilla (steak, blue cheese and onions wrapped in the most perfect tortilla). Verde is in the small cluster of restaurants on Dresden Dr. in Brookhaven. Verde can be extremely busy on any given day regardless of the time of arrival. The menu and drinks are always the same with most days having a taco of the day. Most of the quesadillas are very greasy, the regular salad is mostly iceberg lettuce unless you order the verde salad. I haven't had a bad taco here yet. Their tacos come in small portions, just enough for a great taste of about 2-3. The queso is always hot with jalapeños and served with a spicy salsa. Margaritas are always up to par and the wait time is never long. They also get your cell phone number to alert you when your table is ready, so you can easily walk the rest of the shops, maybe grab a quick drink at Pour or The Haven at the bar before being called to your table without having to worry about a buzzer. I wish they would change up their menu some outside of the daily taco and margarita special. It would be nice to see a Caldo de Pollo on the menu and maybe a taco salad. The atmosphere is always different. At any given moment if you sit on the front patio you have dogs being tied to the fence constantly barking, eating, drinking, and wearing tired of being tied up for their owners time of enjoyment. Sometimes the back patio is baby central, it seems they put families outside with babies and kids are constantly running amuck, screaming, yelling, standing on table, etc. Indoors, it is so extremely loud, you can't hear your colleague speak in front of you and service can be slow. It can be over crowded, uncomfortable, and the staff seems a bit off sometimes and tend to turn tables over fast without paying attention, we sometimes end up not order a second round of drinks because we know we won't see our server. This is a very convenient spot for anyone living in Brookhaven. Casual, easy going spot to grab a margarita, some tacos and my favorite the steak and blue cheese quesadilla. There are usually lots of families here (which works well for us), the menu while not huge has plenty of tacos to choose from. My friend really wanted me to try out this place so she brought me here. It was pretty packed but we were seated quickly. The menu had a fair amount of choices. We shared a Trio appetizer with three different dip for our chips, quest, guac, and salsa. And I ordered two tacos. One buffalo tofu and sweet chili shrimp. The buffalo tofu was very disappointing... I will not get it again. The sweet chili shrimp was really good! If I go again, I'll probably get that taco again! The atmosphere seemed lively. Somewhere people come to grab a drink and something small to eat while talking. It is pretty loud, so be prepared to talk loudly. It's in a cute small town of Brookhaven. Parking can be a pain. This place has great food and service even when it is packed. They almost have to great service with such a small room and that many people packing in for food. I like how you can order as many or as little tacos as you want on a plate and get the sides you want exactly. I can't remeber what I had but each was great. The only issue some might have with this place is that there is jalopenos on just about anything. Make sure you check the menu first or ask your waiter if your not into spicy. We popped in for a late night bite after a movie at Phipps and I thought my food was fresh and interesting. You order everything individually here so you can pretty much create your own plate. I got a fried chicken taco, short rib taco and some rice. I'm not sure what they put in rice but it was so good. It was the seasoning. We also had calamari as a starter and it was nice with the addition of battered and fried jalapenos. I had a frozen margarita which was just as good as any. There seemed to be a young, hip crown in Verde. Perhaps it was the time of night. If you need a quick bite I say it's worth a try. read more

WOW! Had lunch today at Verde and the food absolutely did not disappoint. I had the Barbacoa Taco comprised of seasoned braised beef in a spicy house-made pepper sauce, queso fresco, cilantro & pickled red onions. Definitely had a little bit of a kick to it, which I loved. As a freak for calamari, I tried the Fried Calamari Taco. Dusted in cornmeal with fried jalapeños, coleslaw, & jalapeño ranch sauce, the calamari was cooked perfectly. Not chewy as can sometimes happen. Fair warning though, you better watch out because those jalapenos bring some serious heat! read more

It's only fair, to give a new restaurant a chance to work out the kinks. They taunted me with their closeness to work, and their fresh blue awning and crisp new logo. Friday, for a late lunch, I gave in. Accompanied by a friend and collegue, and the desire not to drive up and down Peachtree, we WALKED to lunch. If you don't want to wait all evening for a table, go at lunch time. =) We were seated immediately. Unlike most Mexican style places, chips and salsa are NOT standard. You order them for a nominal charge. All items are A la carte. So you create your own combo from a choice of 2 salads, a number of different tacos (starting at $3.50), and tasty sounding sides. My companion LOVED that the salads come as a whole or a half. So many tasty selections for tacos. She had the fish tacos - both grilled and fried. I opted for a calamari taco, and grilled veggie taco, and a side of plantains. I really can't comment. We made too many yummy moaning noises, and it's difficult to put words to that. Food and the consumption of food is a love affair. Each bite was a marrying of flavors for the palate. Went there last week with a party of 6 plus 3 toddlers, so from the get go we were not the most desirable table to have. The service was very good, if not perfect. Our server was very pleasant, and brought everything out on time, and everything was correct. The wait time between beers and drinks was more than fine. The food on the other hand was limited and very average. The menu is a single page laminated piece of paper that contains some apps, some salads, and some tacos. That is your choice. The tacos are limited to about 7 types and the 3 different ones that I had were ok. 3.50-4 bucks for a taco is quite high so a meal for a man will cost you about 11 bucks. Straight to the point--as Kathryn K. pointed out below, the buffalo tofu taco is friggin' fantastic. Just to clear up any concerns and hopefully pique the interest of my carne consuming compatriots, I also had a short rib taco and a grilled fish taco (let's table any discussion on how some people don't really consider fish meat--it eats, breathes, bleeds, ok?), and they were just "OK", but that buffalo tofu taco was quite delicious. The atmosphere, in brief, is fun and the patio was large and well heated on a rather cool night. As for the margaritas, I've been seeing some mixed reviews from people here, and I'm going to have to say I side with those who are less than impressed with them. Mine was too sweet. Delish! I went to Verde last Friday with several co-workers for my birthday lunch...lets just say that not alot of work got done once we got back to the office. The consensus on the margies was that they were all good. I had the skinny 'rita and it was perfectly strong. Side note: I recommend skinny 'ritas to anyone who wants to really taste the alcohol and not the mix. With all of us at the table, it seems that everyone got at least every item on the menu. There were quesadillas, fajitas and even a taco salad being served. I'll review my food: I had the pulled pork taco and the grilled chicken. While the pork was awesome I liked the grilled chicken better. There was just something about the seasoning that they used and the tomatillo's on the taco combined w/ the seasoning was fab. There was a buffalo chicken taco on the menu which looked excellent and a veggie taco which my co-worker said was spicy and beany and veggie-y. Overall all good choices, just so many of them to try. I love Verde, it may not be a Taqueria Del Sol, but its still delish! This restaurant is in our neighborhood so we go here all the time. The bacon on the fried chicken tacos is some of the best bacon I've ever had! The fried chicken taco is so yummy as is the pulled pork. The queso is very good here too and it comes with salsa, which I love when places bring you both. The black and blue quesadilla is great too! The only item on the menu I've had that I wasn't such a fan of was a special taco they had one day that I all I can remember right now was that it had chicken in it. I went for lunch with some coworkers last time I was in Atlanta. Really like the concept of large bowl of chips with 3 choices of sauces - even without ordering. I also like that you can mix and match your order and can get any type of tacos. For my order, I got 1 fried calamari (which is a must - it was so delicious that I am still craving it). Verde is another great Mexican option in Atlanta-it doesn't get the same buzz at Taqueria, Nuevo or some other places but it's great. The prices comparable and I think the portions here are actually larger. All 3 of my husband's tacos were very substantial. I was very pleased with my verde salad w/ grilled chicken, and the cilantro vinaigrette was super tasty. Our waitress wasn't the greatest, but it's good food fast. The valet parking is a little annoying, but it's a small lot so I can see why they do it. Located in a lovely neighborhood of Brookhaven, Verde is a cute little taqueria that I'd visited twice before. To start, Lisette and I ordered the trio of salsa, guac, and queso (~$8), which came in less than five minutes. The queso was topped with chopped green herbs (I'd place my money on chives), and the salsa was runny and thin, but the guacamole was creamy; they even stuck a fresh lime wedge in! The waitress refilled our chip basket upon request and didn't charge us for it. God bless her soul. About five minutes later, I received my half portion of the casa salad ($4.5). My serving was huge! The honey mustard dressing I'd ordered came on the side, and the salad was otherwise comprised of mixed field greens, diced tomatoes, bacon, crumbled bleu cheese, and a small scoop of guac. The bleu cheese wasn't as pungent as it sometimes tends to be, so I enjoyed it. The bacon, however, was stiff and difficult to chew. The wait for the tacos that we ordered was short. Lisette enjoyed her veggie taco while I examined my fried chicken taco. The verdict? Average. Portion size: meh. Food quality: the "fried chicken" was no more than a glorified chicken tender, complimented half-heartedly with the same stiff bacon bits, scarce field greens, and tomato chunks I found in the salad. The creamy chipotle aioli was uplifting, however. Price: $3.5 - blah. Most of their tacos are this price, but for what I received, I think I'd much rather prefer a taco from Hankook. Authenticity: mediocre. I think they just slapped some ingredients into a flour tortilla and labeled it a taco. This particular meal aside, however, this place is pretty straightforward, and holds some merit. You could easily get a meal here for less than $10; consider visiting Verde if you wanted to grab a casual lunch with your family, friend or date. Verde struck a good note with us this week for lunch. It has a "tacos only" food menu, plus salads. Miss D. ordered the buffalo chicken taco and the tilapia taco, and I ordered a grilled chicken taco. Tacos are about $3.00 each, with a small charge for chips and salsa. Cheese dip was optimal, and I've been paying for the calorie intake all week. Service and management were friendly and attentive. Ambience is loud, with TVs showing cable news, but is not as crowded as Taqueria del Sol, for example, so parking is easier, and nor is the wait long. Tacos do appear to be of comparable quality. I am inclined to upgrade my three-star rating after a few more visits. read more

Verde is a Mexican place that serves tacos/quesadillas, a place that my coworkers and I occasionally frequently every 2-3 weeks or so. As you enter, you will notice the place can be a little cramped, there are a lot of tables/chairs, if you get a booth it is nice but otherwise sometimes you might feel a bit cramped especially if there are a lot of people moving behind you. As for the food, Verde is primarily about the tacos. There are quesadillas, but the tacos have much more variety and specials to order. Usually I order 2-3 to feel full, and with chips and salsa usually the total is around $10-12, not bad for lunch. One of my favorite tacos is the chicken parm taco, but most of the other tacos are more traditional chicken, beef, shrimp taco. Sometimes service can get a bit hectic and disorganized when the place is busy, although generally the service is quick enough to get in and out within an hour which works well for those who are coming for a work lunch period. read more

I placed a catered order from Verde for my group. When the food arrived it was cold. Not the worst but definitely not impressive. Typical American Tex-Mex. Cold, stale, store bought flour tortillas. I hope that the experience at the restaurant is different but I definitely don't feel compelled to visit after our experience with their catering. read more

Sat at the bar, great lighting, and the large black charcoal drawing,of the outlaws is probably the coolest drawing i have ever seen! Another reviewer mention street parking only, but they just missed it...there is an entire 2 level parking deck out back -parking is easy. I enjoyed the food. Verde Taqueria is a Mexican/taco/fusion restaurant... Food: I started with the Trio appetizer (tortilla chips served w/ salsa, guacamole, queso). The chips were decent, as was the queso dip and guacamole, but the salsa seemed flavorless and had NO heat to it at all. As for my main course I ordered 3 tacos: Pulled Pork (pork, bbq sauce & coleslaw), Fried Calamari (squid, jalapenos, coleslaw, ranch dressing), and the Buffalo Shrimp (fried shrimp, coleslaw, jalapeno ranch dressing). The pulled pork taco was decent, the calamari & buffalo shrimp tacos were flavorful, but the calamari & shrimp, respectively, were served lukewarm. Food-wise, all considered, I would say this was a mediocre experience. Atmosphere: The dining area has a high-ceiling modern look & feel, albeit with dark, drab colors. When I went on a Wednesday night ~7:30pm, the place was packed, including the bar area and patio tables. Noise volume was very high. Service: I ate at the bar, service was prompt & attentive. Overall: The young professional crowd from Brookhaven/North Buckhead seems to love this place, as it was packed in when I was there.... But Verde doesn't do it for me. I like Verde because of the atmosphere and location. I haven't been to the one over in the Westside, but I do always prefer something in the North Atlanta area. Also, it's a small menu so don't expect too much. I had the soup and a quesadilla the first time I came. The soup was a chicken tortilla (so typical) and I got a veggie quesadilla. The food was fine but just average. My guy got a few tacos on corn tortillas- I then immediately wanted tacos instead of my quesadilla. Service was great. It's a small cute tex mex restaurant. I've gone here several times over the years and I've never been overwhelmed by the service. The food is what kept bringing me back but it seems like they have changed/discontinued some items recently. On my last visit i was extremely disappointed with the drinks. I ordered my usual pomegranate margarita which didn't look anything like it and even confirmed with the waitress that she brought the right drink and then switched to a skinny margarita hoping for better luck but was still disappointed. I hope it was just an off night for the bartender. general observations: small outside patio, does have shade under table umbrellas, very small bar area, large covered back patio, always pretty crowded and usually has at least a few children so the noise is what you would expect from a full restaurant, parking is limited and shared with the other dresden dr businesses. read more

It was nice to sit outside at a place that accommodated kids and those needing gluten-free meals. (worth one star). The food was pretty good, but not the best I have had lately. Service was good. The margaritas were horrible - just a mix of medium level tequila and super strength lemonade (sour mix). We tried three varieties and all were bad and way too sweet. I asked for one other variety lacking all the high-fructose sourmix but was told by the bartender that they can't be served in a pitcher - "the margaritas sold in pitchers were mostly sour mix". Freaking Yum! I have been here many times and haven't reviewed it before. I went to the location on Dresden and ordered several tacos (Beef, Short Rib and Fried Chicken) a side of beans and rice and I spent about 13 dollars after tax. Worth every penny. All of their tacos are great. It's just a matter of preferences. My friends tried other items on the menus quesadillas, etc... they all loved their food. It's great for groups and they have plenty of space to accommodate. I highly suggest it. :) Unless you just don't like good food. There is street and private lot parking. The bar is very basic I wouldn't say it's a full bar. However, if you just need something with Tequila and want some good food... hit them up. It can get packed after work and on Fridays so plan accordingly. I have been here with groups of co-workers and vendors. There is plenty of space toward the back so call ahead for groups. read more

Yum yum! All of the Verdes in town are good, this one is no different. The tacos were hot and fresh, and the plantains were divine! The only problem was that they have someone who "checks" the to-go orders. And since they staple and tie ALL of the bags, it is extremely difficult to check for yourself before you leave, meaning we are generally missing something.
