Update: the past 2 times I've been here the service has been bad. Different servers different sections. The first time the server didn't understand "frozen jalapeño margarita pitcher" and took us a few tries to get that across. She still missed the "frozen" part but I just needed my drink and was already annoyed. The past time our server was quick to greet us and grab our drink order and appetizer order. But when we told him we wanted to hang out for a bit before ordering tacos, he seemed okay. But he never came back to check on us. Our queso was long gone and we were basically done with our pitcher of drinks before he even acknowledged us. Plus he charged us $40 for a trio plus a pitcher of margaritas. My fault for not checking the bill before leaving, but oh well. We left to go elsewhere without ordering tacos. Food is still good but service has really gone downhill in the past year. So sad because it used to be my go to for dinner. Not sure if I'll be back. read more

i dined here one thursday evening with some friends. when we arrived it was very busy, which was to be expected due to the location. there was a long wait to sit outside so we elected to sit inside. we ordered a cheese dip as an appetizer and the cheese dip was great. lots of flavor to it. i tried the fajita taco & mediterranean taco for dinner. the tacos were okay but in all honesty nothing to write home about. i believe i would order different tacos or something else next time. i would also say the service wasn't that good. this restaurant is located in the shopping center off of Dresden. there is a parking lot behind the restaurant but parking can be hard to find sometimes. they have a really nice patio. i want to come back and try their margaritas as i hear they are good. read more

With some changes, I could see this place being very special. However I didn't care for the tacos too much. I ordered the chimichurri steak tacos and 1 sweet chili shrimp taco. Verde is my go-to place whenever my fridge run out of food! It is inexpensive and has relatively healthy options. Love sitting out at the patio when the weather is nice. It is at a convenient location on Dresden Dr in the heart of Brookhaven. There's plenty of parking on the street and behind the restaurant. The restaurant is always busy and packed with customers. Do prepare to wait a bit, while you enjoy a beer. Note that this is a bit loud (since it's basically a bar). I eat here at least once a week if not more. The fajita quesadilla is my favorite. I also recommend the Buffalo chicken taco sub coleslaw for celery. The ground beef taco, dirty bird taco and southwest salad are also bomb. The margaritas are delicious and strong. You can't go wrong with this place. read more

Your very average sports bar / Mexican-American restaurant combo. I got tacos on tacos on corn tortillas. -Barbacoa taco: pretty tender and tons of beef. It wasn't too tasty though. -Chicken fajita taco: don't get this, thought a fajita taco was going to taste as good as a fajita. Clearly, I was wrong as the chicken was dry and needed more flavor. -Shrimp chili taco: highlight of my meal as this was juicy, zesty and fried goodness. -Service: definitely on the slower side as the waiter was managing multiple tables and seemingly forgot about us and my drink order. Verde is a hip restaurant with quick service and delicious quesadillas! It is located in a nice area with lots of parking, which makes it very accessible. There is also outdoor seating, which is a great option for a nice day out (preferably on the rare occasion it is not 90+ degrees in Atlanta). I ordered a BBQ chicken quesadilla and split salsa/chips with a friend. The quesadilla was stuffed with chicken and was not as spicy as I expected. All quesadillas come with sides of salsa and sour cream, which adds additional flavor but is definitely not required to make the quesadillas taste good! The salsa was great - it had the perfect amount of cilantro - and came with a huge bowl of chips. For the amount of chicken that was in the quesadilla, I was surprised it cost less than $8. It is a definite bang for your buck and will fill you up! The only reason I give this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 is the limited quesadilla options compared to the numerous taco choices. Maybe the restaurant already does this, but it would be great to have the option of adding more veggies to some of the quesadillas on the menu. read more

I have to start this review with, 'I can't wait to go back'!!! Verde has such a cool vibe. Mexican everything. It's a quick kind of lunch place with waiter service. I order the fajita taco on top of salad greens without the shell. I was thrilled when it came to the table. All the fajita fixings on top of greens. It was a very generous portion of steak. My first experience at Verde was AWESOME--not sure if I was just lucky that night, bc I didn't experience anything other yelpers have complained about. Parking -- plenty of parking right around the corner. It can get packed during the weekend, but I got uber lucky and found a spot right in front of the entrance of the restaurant. I guess this is my luck number one of the night. :::Random side note::: While we were waiting for our table (~30 min, which is normal on a Friday night), we decided to walk around the strip until we get a text alert from Verde. My friend and I stumbled into Brookhaven Wines, a super cute wine store that drew our attention. They just happened to be having a free wine tasting night (which takes place every Friday from 7pm and Saturday afternoon) so we got a (free) head start on our drinks ;). Luck number two of the night. Then we finally got the text alert saying our table was ready, and we got to choose between a table inside or outside. When we asked for the patio table, I was expecting the patio in the front of the restaurant, facing the street, but disappointingly they had a patio in the back too, which is where we were seated..... K whatever. Food -- always ask about the specialty tacos. The tacos on the menu are great too, but they're there forever. Specialty tacos aren't. I ordered the Gyro tacos (specialty tacos for the day/week?) and I LOVEEEEEEED. The portion is great, easy to eat without spilling the inside everywhere, and price is very reasonable. Their flavored margaritas are o, mucho delicioso! Even if you're not a big marg-person, you'll enjoy Verde's flavored margs. Service -- Casey was fabulous. She makes great recommendations and comfortable to interact with. I didn't experience any inconvenience throughout the night, which seems to be a common complaint about this place. I thought I wrote a review during my last visit here but I was wrong. Love this location and love the neighborhood that it's located in. There's always a positive, upbeat energy about this place that puts you in a good mood when you're there. The food is always consistent and I'm always pleased with their salsa, chips and my favorite appetizer: their bean dip! During my last visit there, I was introduced to the grilled tilapia that you can have on top of any of their salads. I was happy with the way they grilled the fish as well as their seasoning. Sometimes the fish is over salted but at Verde, the grilled tilapia is seasoned perfectly and the salad comes in a huge bowl so you'll be satisfied with it as an entree. It's plenty to serve one or two people to share as an addition to their entrees. Love their margarita flavors and featured menu items. They have a great patio area for when it's not too hot or humid out and service is always stellar. read more

My first visit to Verde was years and years ago. I'm not sure why I never wrote a review. I recently came back with friends (they're really coworkers, but we hang out outside of work) and the experience was just ok. We had gotten our nails done in the same shopping plaza and had already planned to go to Verde for margs, beer, and of course queso for the birthday girl in our group. Wait time on a Thurs night was ok. You can put your name up front and just grab a drink at the bar and uncomfortably block others if there are no seats. We were eventually seated and honestly, great evening. Could've been better if the waiter was more attentive or faster at bringing drinks (god, I must sound like an alcoholic as my biggest gripe lately is with lack of drinks). Food was just ok. I don't recommend the black and blue quesadillas. However, I do recommend the nachos - they come in a huge bowl which might as well be this gigantic salad of chips that's easily shareable and can definitely feed more than 1 person, if not two. Parking here is terrible. I ended up having to do valet when there were plenty of parking spots hogged by the valet. In fact, parking here during the evening always seems to be a bad idea since spots are hard to find. It's no surprise since there are so many restaurants. Verde's just ok. It's not amazing, but it fills that need for a local Mexican restaurant in the part of Brookhaven it's in. read more

Good urban tacos in stylish decor. I came here for an early lunch, second customer in the door. Service was steady but nothing that made me glad I came here. At a point I had to hunt down a server to ask a question about the ingredients. On the up-side, they took care of my food restrictions with a smile and got it right the first time. I'm always entertained when the place draws a very specific clientele. The place filled up with mostly upscale Brookhaven women and genteel businessmen. That tells me that the food is refined with good flavor but not too bold. It also means that you can have tasty small meals at a good price or big meals.at a bigger price. True and true. The place has an artsy, urban decor. I could easily bring a date here as a cool, inexpensive date. What I didn't expect was that the tacos were generously filled with lots of meat. That usually doesn't happen in the urban taco bar like Pure or Bad Dog. I included a pic to show you. I tried 3 different tacos that were all tasty, fresh and filling. Yay. Verde is not the place to come if you're craving Tex-Mex (or authentic Mexican food) but overall is pretty good. I definitely consider myself to be a bit of a Mexican food snob, and this is a bit Americanized for me, but I can definitely appreciate the huge menu with rotating daily specials. Located right in the heart of Brookhaven on Dresden Drive, the location could not be more convenient. There is parking behind the restaurant in a private lot shared with other businesses in the strip, street parking, and oftentimes there is a valet (located behind The One Sushi). Verde is a popular spot for dinner and despite the size of the restaurant there is often a wait. However, the hostess will take your phone number along with your name for the wait list, so you can freely wander some of the shops nearby while killing time. The margaritas are quite good, especially the flavored ones, but aren't crazy strong (like Pancho's - whew!). There is a decent select of liquors and beers. I haven't ever ordered wine but I've seen it at the bar so I know they serve it. I like to start with the trio of appetizers - chips served with cheese dip, fresh made guacamole, and the sweet house salsa. Standard and nothing too crazy but always yummy. I'll have to check out the bean dip one day. I always read about it but have yet to branch out. Make sure to check out the A-frame board outside the front door on your way in as they are always featuring specials. There is usually a daily taco special as well as some rotating sides. I've tried some inventive tacos here - some better than others - but always like the banh mi taco and the shrimp and grits taco. In terms of the regular menu items, I always go for the tacos. You can mix and match and all tacos are ordered a la carte so don't expect to get a side of rice and beans. Favorites include the barbacoa ($4), the sweet chili shrimp ($3.75), and the roasted veggie ($3.75). I think I've tried nearly all of them at one point or another and usually gravitate to a combination of these three plus the special taco of the day. At dinner last night, my friend tried one of the rice bowls for the first time and really enjoyed it. The portion was pretty decent for the price ($6.25 - $8.75) and I like that it's a customizable menu item so you can add or remove toppings as desired. Overall, I spend a bit more money here than I would at one of the taco shops just down the road on Buford Highway, but it's conveniently located and consistently good. Longtime patron of Verde. Food is always delivered quickly and is of good quality. Trying to support our local restaurants especially during COVID-19, but my most recent encounter makes me question this decision. Placed order online for 9 tacos plus salsa and guac, and even though we weren't dining in, added a 20% tip. Grabbed some to-go margs there and tipped again. Got home only to discover two tacos were missing. Called the restaurant and was met with incredibly disappointing service. No apology at all. Offer was to remake the missing tacos (and I could come pick up) or credit the bill. I asked for a credit and expressed my disappointment only to be met with silence at the other end. Hello?? I wanted to check out the new taqueria in Brookhaven and what better day than Cinco de Mayo. I loved the space - the colors, the high ceilings, the booths, the bar, the patio. The menu is simple with a couple salads, mostly tacos, some apps, a few sides, & a dessert. Everything under $10. Great lunch or dinner option during these hard times :) If you go with tacos, our server said two was enough since they're 6" diameter tortilla shells. Tacos range $3.25-3.75 each. My friend got the short rib taco, the grilled tilapia, & a side of black beans. She said the short rib was ok, the tilapia very good, & black beans bland. I got the Casa Salad for $7 plus added fried chicken for $2. Other meat choices were grilled tilapia & pulled pork. I loved my salad, esp. the cilantro citrus dressing. My salad had mixed field greens, chopped tomatoes, chopped applewood bacon, blue cheese crumbles, and a side of guac (disappointingly bland but otherwise good & fresh tasting). Service was good & very attentive. I'll definitely come back to try the tacos. I just wish the pricing was more competitive with the more "authentic" & tasty tacos found on Buford Hwy. I went here after I preformed at a private concert. I went here with some family and friends and I've never been here before. It was around 9:00pm and we got our heated patio seating mind you not where we were sitting it was cold. It was cold in there inside be we decided to mark our place inside. When they gave us the menu there were limited vegan options that wasn't as appealing like veggie tocos with a whole bunch of vegetables in them. The appetizers are amazing though! When I got there I expected some okra maybe a kids menu (because what person being over the age of 18 hasn't snuck something off the kids menu once or twice). How can one rate Verde poorly? Good margaritas, good food, good atmosphere, good crowd, good patio and best of all good price. I think that this place is a great neighborhood Mexican stop. The margaritas are a little tart (original) and the flavored ones can be a little overpowering on the fruit flavors (peach especially) but the Texas El Recipe was on point and worth it every time! As for the tacos, you cannot go wrong with the pulled pork, short rib and fried chicken tacos. The pulled pork was easily our favorite. The quesadillas have a great cheese blend and are delicious with any meat you pick. The atmosphere is light and fun and if you can time it to get a table on the patio then this place rocks. We will easily be going back. It can be seen as a little pricey but that's the normal price for this kind of place in ATL. Again, nice little spot for a dinner or date. read more

Came here for dinner with a few friend. First the location is in a prime spot so depending on when you arrive parking can be difficult. Off hand it seems like there is a lot of parking but a lot is reserved for residents. There is a option for valet in front of the restaurant next door so that an be an option. We first ordered the jalapeño cheese dip which I highly recommend. It has the right amount of kick added to it and is accompanied by traditional salsa. Our main orders consisted of veggie quesadilla, black & blue quesadilla and fajita rice bowl with steak. Overall there were no complaints the food was well cooked and tasted great. Verde's a stone's throw from one of the flyest Airbnb's I've had the pleasure to use for a company retreat. Brookhaven's a wonderful neighborhood, arguably one of the more coveted ones in all of metro Atlanta, though I remember this area before it rapidly gentri... nevermind the accelerating real estate...we're talking food, right? As far as tacos go... Verde is solid as far as taquerias go. Solid, though not necessarily exceptional. Would I go again? Yeah we actually hit this joint twice in 4 days. Proximity helped but there were a lot of [pretty] noteworthy spots in the vicinity (like Haven and Valenza). But tacos are good and--guess what--everyone was right: the fried chicken tacos are delish. No joke. I try to avoid clichés, but the fried chicken tacos were standout. Like... For real, for real. There was also a spicy shrimp one as well that I liked but the fajita was... Meh. Barbacoa was better (we shared! That's what company events are for) and paired well with a wine recommendation from a local old grape shop a few paces down the street. Ignoring secondary effects, I love what they've done with this neighborhood and Verde fits right in for locals and semi-locals like myself (trust me, I'd be old Atlanta if not for a better job offer back before it was called that). Don't expect anything to woo you... but after a few visits, you'll have some favorites for sure. read more

This place is okay. My expectations were high when I came here because my friends told me they had "like one of the best tacos". I was expecting the best. That being said, I ordered the short rib taco and the fried chicken taco. There is nothing special about the tortilla skin - which is big for me. I think the meat of the tacos were pretty great (better than good, worse than great). The sauce and other condiments that came along with it were okay. Would I suggest this place to someone else? Yes the tacos are overpriced,$3.5- $4 is highway robbery when you can go to Buford Hwy and get $1 tacos but these aren't your typical Mexican tacos. They are fusion tacos with flavors I would never have thought of along with your classics. I got: Shrimp and grits taco-I never would have thought this made a good taco but it was freaking awesome. I also always get the veggie taco and now they add guacamole to it with the grilled fresh veggies-win! I also got the pulled pork taco which my date agreed tasted better than we expected and the beef short rib which was also a made just right. I can't complain, every taco I ordered made my mouth happy. The margarita's are also great here. This isn't your typical tex-mex margarita. No, they make them like they do in Mexico with a natural simple syrup and aged tequila. This is my favorite restuarant currently! I've brought both models & friends and Im never disappointed. My favorite meal is the Casa Salad with the Blue Chz on the side along with the Calamari without japs! Superb!!!! Though Ive been going since they opened they literually have got so busy, service has begun to wane; honestly zi think it's from the servers being exhausted from previous shifts. Every single night they're packed, standing room only so I usually go during the day. So, what is everyone's fascination with this place? I decided to try a new place on a Wednesday night, & with pretty good reviews & a large crowd the boyfriend & I thought Verde would be a good place. When we arrived around 7:00 there were several people waiting (which is usually a very good sign), but the wait was only 20 minutes. The restaurant is small but cute, & we couldn't wait to try some tacos to see what the fuss was all about. Once we were seated, we ordered chips & salsa which came out very quickly along with our drinks. The chips were fresh, but a bit bland as was the salsa. Maybe it's just me, but I expected some salsa verde since the restaurant is name verde, but the salsa was your basic tomato recipe (but it seemed to lack a few ingredients). I ordered the grilled veggie & blackened fish tacos - both were ok, but nothing to write home about. And at 3.25 - 4.25 per taco, I don't think I'll be going there again with the plethora of other awesome taco joints around this great town we call Atlanta... read more

So my husband kept bragging to me about this place so I decided to give it a chance (he eats anything btw specially "Mexican" food). It was a very nice setting. We ordered the chips, guac and salsa to start. Everything was fine except for the guac which was very bland and a weird texture. Service was so meh. Our table was in the center and it seemed our server did everything in her power to avoid us. She didn't seem really happy to be there. I'm a server; I get it. But if you're having a bad day, you shouldn't make it so obvious. The restaurant was packed so we had to wait a while for our drinks but our food came out pretty timely. Started off with the Casa salad. The salad was huge and I shared it with another person. I really enjoyed it and I would definitely get it again. Today I enjoyed lunch at Verde. Been wanting to come here for awhile so I called up to question the menu since we have celiac disease (gluten allergy). Rachel picked up the phone and was so freaking knowledgeable I was blown away. We made it to verde and because the universe was aligned correctly Rachel was our server with no request by us. She was professional. Double and triple checked everything. They take food allergies as serious as people with food allergies take them. I was so impressed. Food came out super fast. And fresh fresh fresh. Come here for lunch and you will not be disappointed. Fact is, each taco is really stuffed with a lot. I especially loved the tofu buffalo and chicken Buffalo. She said they are crowd favorites and they could do them gluten free. Chips are fried in the same oil as gluten so we did not try them out. All in all. These people earned 5 stars.
