Pulling up it seems very small with some out door tables, and when you walk in it's a little cramped, but once you come in and get upstairs it opens up pretty well. It can get pretty noisy upstairs when it starts to fill up but with the amazing food there won't be much talking :). In typical fashion I always over order so that I can try as much as possible, and this time we were 5 for 5 on the selection. We started off with a fried risotto ball stuffed with mozzarella, mussels and the burratta...the fried risotto ball was tiny and was tasty but nothing fancy. A tasty starter if you looking for something personal, not a sharing dish. The mussels and the Burratta were fantastic! We got the mussels in the white wine sauce and by the end we were eating the sauce with a soup spoon! Not too "winey" and not oily at all, and the burratta was soooo fresh and creamy I couldn't stop eating it. And the move is to sprinkle some of their olive oil on top and a piece of basil. Takes some prepping but worth it. Next we ordered two pizzas, the pistachio de salsicca and prosciutto di parma and they were amazing, the crust was crispy yet soft and all the ingredients were fresh!! I absolutely LOVE verde. They make a Neapolitan pizza, which is super thin (way more than NY pizza) and is often eaten with a fork and knife because it's so thin. I'm a big fan of this type of pizza, so I may be a little biased but I think it's delicious. To start off, we ordered the burrata which is one of my absolute favorite cheeses/dishes to get. It was enormous and was way more burrata than I'm used to getting in an appetizer portion. I loved it! It was delicious and creamy and there was more than enough for everyone at our table (4 of us) to get a good helping of it. Then, we ordered the Uova Bianca and the Il Bambino. Both were absolutely delicious and perfect. Honestly can't say much more about them except I will definitely be coming back soon to try more of their pizzas and of course to also get some more burrata. read more

A pizza place that will make anyone smile!! Verde is a staple in Baltimore, and is a place that is great for a casual meal with friends, a romantic date, or a meal in celebration of something! Definitely on the more expensive side, as pizzas are usually 20-25 dollars and are slightly larger than a personal size, BUT not to fear for budget foodies-- Monday is half off all pizzas!! I only go on Mondays because as a med student, I'll take all the discounts I can get. Out of the four pizzas I have tried so far, my favorite has to be the Ouva Bianca, which had prosciutto and two eggs on top (among other amazing toppings). This was the pizza of my dreams, as I could dip my crust in the egg yolk!! Wow, Verde just jumped to the top of my Baltimore brunch list. Let me start off by saying that they have bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary's for only $10! They let you to switch between the two which was a bonus for me. Their brunch menu was extensive and looked absolutely delicious. I ended up getting the Uova Bianca ($14), one of their brunch pizzas. My friend got the sausage panini ($9) which was recommended by our server since it was made out of the same dough they use to make the pizza. Both were yummy! Located in one of my old haunts of Canton, Verde sits on the corner of the street in what looks like a residential area. I wish I had pizza places this good next to my house. Verde looks to have renovated an old residence into a chic and rustic Italian pizzeria which is two floors. The restaurant is decorated stylishly and it has a warm & friendly atmosphere. We started with some salads which were probably the only average thing we consumed during our experience. It's not that they were poor or the ingredients weren't fresh, the components of the salad were awkwardly spaced. So you had a big block of cheese and a series of pistachios on top of a bed of dressed salad. It made for a "interesting" salad eating experience, but let's be real I've come to pizza so I don't really care if the salad was a bit of a miss. (Although the speck salad with butternut squash was very tasty) The real fun started once we received our pizza. Verde models their pizzas after the Neopolitan style of pizza making with San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and a handmade crust. The pizzas are then cooked in a wood fire oven that delivers a piece of heaven on your plate. I ordered the Il Bambino, and "oh mama!" was it good. The pizza is topped with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella di bufala, homemade sausage, and hot sopressata. The end result is a pizza so flavorful and delicious that every bite was a brilliant combination of sausage, tomato, cheese, and sopressata. The main difference between true Italian pizza and Americanized Italian pizza is the quantity and uniformity of toppings/sauce. In Italy, pizza toppings are not always uniform or as frequent as their American brethren. I'm torn on which way I prefer, the Italians definitely do not use as much tomato sauce, which Verde can be a touch heavy handed on. The only drawback of this pizza was the fact that the slight heavy handedness with the tomato sauce led to a slightly soggy pizza in the center. It didn't take away from the overall pizza though. But overall this pizza is a home-run and a must have if you go. I had to claw myself away from my table to not devour the whole thing. As good as the Il Bambino was, the Pistacchio e Salsiccia pizza may be one of the best things I have ever eaten.The pizza has homemade mozzarella, fresh pistachio, sausage, pecorino romano cheese, basil, and extra virgin olive oil. First off it's unlike anything I've ever had before, the pistacchio in the pesto is a brilliant touch. It adds a great rich texture and nutty flavor to the pesto sauce, while the cheese and sausage just finish off the pizza with a perfect blend of savory and acidity. This needs to be at the top of your must try list for 2016. The last pizza was a gluten free pizza because our guest has a gluten intolerance. I feel for the GF folks of the world as good pizza typically eludes them. They're forced to eat some bastardized cauliflower abomination and have to call that pizza. Well at Verde they have legit gluteen free pizza and you can barely taste the difference. She ordered the arugula pizza is which was a white pizza with generous portion of fresh arugula and cheese. We finished with a nutella pizza dessert that also comes in a gluten free version (which we ordered). This dessert is really good, now the GF crust makes it slightly gritty, but for a gluten free nutella pizza it's still very very good. Overall, Verde is an A+ pizza establishment, the pricing is slightly on the higher side for pizza, but you're paying for gourmet pizza. It's worth it. The staff is very friendly and are happy to help you decide on pizza options as it can get pretty damn overwhelming by all the delicious options set before you. I highly recommend you try Verde as soon as possible, although if you get addicted and end up gaining a bunch of pizza weight I'm not responsible. Oh and they deliver if you live nearby, by way of the magical folks at OrderUp you can order online and have this delicious pizza brought right to you. Final Grade: A+, one of the best pieces of Pizza in Baltimore. I forgot to mention the parking, there is street parking but you're better off paying the seven dollar valet or parking near the Can Company and walking over. That's what we did. read more

this place literally has a commendation from the Italian Consulate congratulating it for continuing the tradition of Neapolitan style pizza. And, while its pretty good, it doesn't blow my mind. This was probably the best meal I had in Baltimore though. For appetizer, we had the burrata, which is by far my favorite thing ever. I could easily eat only burratta for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy when I keel over in 3 months. Creamy, salty, with enough of a bite- just perfect. The pizzas we had were a white, a pesto, and a margherita. All were good, and the crust was perfectly chewy and crispy, though the white was a little overdone. I think, depending on the toppings, these types of pizzas can just get too soggy in the middle, negating the crispy char on the crust. Oh well. I enjoyed this place, but compared to some of the places in Oakland/SF, its just another solid pizza place. read more

Why am I sitting at the table for 15 min w no alcohol in front of me? Don't you understand that if I'm shoveling carbs on carbs on carbs in my face, I need like 4 times as much booze for the same effect? Do you not want to make money? Why do I have to flag you down if there's something wrong w my food? It is not customary to stop by and ask if everything's kosher? I was getting irate at all of these things assuming that they were going to slam us w a standard 18% gratuity for larger parties and thus just couldn't be bothered... but that's not even the case! He took great care of us and never seemed like he was in a rush. Food and drinks came in perfect timing. Ambience was great for couples or small groups. Pizza is excellent. I had the Margherita. Crust was crunchy, thin and cooked perfectly. The perfect amount of sauce, did not soak through crust. Arancini were crunchy on the outside and full of delicious gooey cheese. Meatballs were hot! Came out steaming. Taste was good but they needed a touch of seasoning. Sauce they were in made up for the missing seasoning. Burrata cheese... fantastic. A great texture and just enough salt. The major issue I have with Verde's pizzas is that they're egregiously overpriced for the value. Our party of 10 each got different pizzas and they all tasted nearly the same with a combination of prosciutto, arugula and a sprinkle of basic. And yes I've been to Italy and no Verde does not bring me memories of Sicilian dough. Their pizza menu lacks originality. I can't speak for their other entrees. This cute little neighborhood pizza shop had ample indoor and outdoor options--all safely spaced, and of course masks required inside when not dining. The staff were friendly and didn't press us to hurry in ordering a starter or our pizzas. After much deliberation--both a brunch and the normal menu to choose from--I settled on the breakfast pizza, with egg and cheese and prosciutto. The dough is delicious and fresh; the pizza itself needed several grinds of pepper...and crushed red peppers. Flavor was just a bit bland. Ingredients were otherwise very fresh and well prepared. The first time I came, I had a margherita pizza and it was so light and refreshing. After eating the pie, it did not feel like I had just ate a whole pizza pie. I also tried the meatball appetizer, I wasn't really impressed, it lacked the flavor in my opinion. Today I decided to try the sausage and spinach lasagna and it was just as amazing as the pizza! Verde, you live up to your reputation! My friends and our waitress assured me that everything on the menu is good...I am going to have to echo their opinion. The indoor seating, while a bit close together, is charming and rustic. Our group of three then decided what we wanted to try and ordered to share. - burrata caprese: delicious! A bit saltier than what I'm used to, but a great combination with the tomatos and basil. - Pistacchio e Salsiccia: so delicious, and now one of my all time favorite pizzas. We came here on a Friday night with one of our friends from out of town. Unfortunately, she has allergies and is a gluten free eater. The restaurant staff were very accommodating and even letting her see the package of the gluten free flour they used so that she felt comfortable ordering the gluten free crust. We ordered the burrata caprese and they offered us gluten free bread as they knew of her allergies. The staff was very attentive. We also ordered the arancini with ham. Crisy on the outside and steam hot inside the yummy bits of ham. The tartufo (wild mushroom with truffle cream and fresh mozzarella) was delicious. Even the leftovers, reheated tasted scrumptious! Verde fits on the more expensive end of Canton bars. However, it is a craft pizza and cocktail place with a beautiful atmosphere, so if you are okay spending a little bit on dinner, you'll be thrilled with what you get! The atmosphere sold me right away when I walked in, and even though I've been here 5+ times now, I still marvel at how much I love the décor every time. It's rustic, chic (kind of like Joanna Gaines HDTV designed a bar), classy, and has a wood/natural feel. The pizza selection can feel overwhelming - some seem to only have 1 or 2 ingredients different. They'd be better suited offering their 12 best pizzas, instead of the ~30 on the menu. The staff is always eager to help make a selection and accommodating overall. My close friend is a vegetarian, and we love how many delicious selections of vegetarian pizza there are. They have an amazing gluten free crust, as well as vegan options! I am a meat lover's kind of girl and have been surprised how much I love these non-meat pizzas here. Pizza: On the pricier end of pizza, but incredible. Drinks: Also pricey and will not disappoint! The bartenders are true masters of their craft. They usually have a drink or two that is the cocktail of the evening and are happy to recommend a drink based on what you like, since most of the ingredients are things I'd never have at my home bar. The wait was ~45 minutes before we could eat so we went down the street to a bar. They have a text message system that lets you know when your table is ready. FOOD Let me start by saying I wasn't sure how big the pizzas were going to be, and if I would be full after eating here. The answer to that question is that one pizza is definitely enough for one person, and they're great for sharing. The menu has so many choices that going through it felt like analysis paralysis, but I settled on the Prosciutto Cotto e Funghi because I love mushrooms and salty hams. It was pretty good and hit the spot! I had leftovers to take home (about half the pizza if you're wondering). ATMOSPHERE Since we were a group of 8, we were pretty cramped together. Our table was by both the staircase and kitchen with very little room to get up if we needed to use the restroom. However, it wasn't just our table that felt cramped - all the tables were pretty close together. The lighting is warm and invites conversation; the entire restaurant was definitely on the louder side. SERVICE Service was decent. Continuing our whirlwind tour of restaurants in Canton/Fells Point, we treated ourselves to the heavenly trifecta of dairy + carbs + booze at Verde last night! For those of you who don't know, the man & I moved to Baltimore from Nashville last Sunday. It hasn't even been 7 days, but we've been knocking back crushes and local fare with reckless abandon! These neighborhoods have so much to offer, especially when it comes to Italian cuisine. Posting up at the bar (per usual), we started our meal with the burrata appetizer ($15 - a creamy, soft mound of house made mozzarella stuffed with ricotta perfectly seasoned with salt, pepper, high quality olive oil and fresh basil leaves) and a Corn and Oil crafted cocktail ($11). Steve, an over 2-year veteran of Verde and the master of their cocktail program, shared intimate details of this drink design, truly illustrating the careful selection process and attention to ingredients that this restaurant is known for. Following the burrata, whose portion is ample enough to share with a larger group, we dug into the Zanelotti pizza ($18 - featuring house made mozzerella, sopressata - a spicy, thick-cut salami, wild mushrooms, juicy kalamata olives and Pecorino Romano cheese.) We also shared a bottle of Sawbuck Cabernet (pleasantly priced at $36) and learned that Tuesday nights are 1/2 off bottles of wine! Well then!!! We were surprised with a "Welcome to the Neighborhood" treat at the end of our meal: a sour cherry crumble topped with almond and pistachios served with a side of vanilla gelato. I didn't see this on the menu or specials board, so we felt extra-fabulous! I can't sing Verde's praises enough!! I tell everyone about it, and their gluten free crust is out of this world. One of my friends from Delaware comes to visit me just to get some Verde gluten free crust. Also love their charcuterie plate, the fig jam is amazing. Customer service is always so great when we go. Only gripe is the $6 for a gluten free crust surcharge, but for good gluten free pizza, I'll pay just about anything. Verde is a bustling eatery tuck away between Patterson Park and Canton. The atmosphere is hip and happening, definitely the place to be. Food was okay. I ordered the "Funghetto" pizza which wasn't quite my cup of tea. I must admit that I'm not a pizza connoisseur but there's too much going on here. No need to reinvent the wheel. I love the charred leopard spots on the crust! The cocktails have been stellar and almost as creative as the pizzas! Service has consistently been good. My only dings are the seating in the room nearest the kitchen: Try not to get seated next to the windows - the aisle there is like a race track when it gets busy. Our group really wanted to try the burrata but it was sold out (so sad!) so we went with the trio of pesto which was lovely. Also great to dip our crusts in later. We tried the white pizza with mushroom and arugula. I love love arugula on pizza.. It was fantastic but definitely an acquired taste. The other pizza we tried was a special with a butternut squash cream sauce ... Another interesting winner. The crust was thin and chewy , cooked in their own brick oven but a bit too burnt in a few places. I would definitely come back to try a few more of their pizza offerings! read more

Awesome experience for my birthday getaway in Baltimore! This little pizzeria was suggested to me and my girlfriend by our AirBNB host and was literally a stones throw from our apartment! We got there very late, about 20 mins before close unfortunately but the manager greeted us very warmly and so did the bartender Cory who gave us a great experience! We had 2 different pizzas but the more notable one had a pistachio-based sauce and was topped with salchichas (sausage) and was AMAZING! Every bit oozing with flavor! We had 2 of Cory's favorite drinks which unfortunately doing this review can't quite remember off the top of my head! (Should've written them down). All in all, great service, great food & drink, and the ambience of this small modern brick-oven pizzeria in the heart of Baltimore close-ish to the water is awesome read more

My fiancee organized a pretty large get together here for me on my birthday. I was not disappointed. Verde was the perfect spot for us. Not only do I love pizza, but I wanted to enjoy it with friends. This place is spacious with modern decor and comes with a nice, calming atmosphere. We had a reservation for 18 and Verde was extremely accommodating. In addition, for a group this large, service was surprisingly attentive and good. We started off slow, but our servers were amiable and personable. The owner/manager stopped by from time to time to make sure everything was going smoothly. Our orders came out relatively quickly and drinks were refilled regularly. The drinks menu was vast and this may be one of the stronger points about Verde. The pizza was decent overall. These are personal-sized 12" pizzas. There's a great variety to choose from and quality is great. Some pizzas were upstanding, others weren't so good. I had the privilege to try the Prosciutto Di Parma, Cappuccetto Rosso, Vegetariana, Funghetto, Pistacchio E Salsiccia, and Salsiccia E Friarelli. I was excited about all the different toppings that I normally wouldn't find at other pizza restaurants. However, I'm not sure how I should interpret this as I'm both a meat lover and a fan of trying different things -- I ended up liking the Vegetariana the most. I was super pumped to try Pistacchio E Salsiccia, but it ended up tasting a little try. I also loved the dessert. Tiramisu here has certainly been perfected. It's one of the best I've had. Overall, Verde seems like an awesome place to hang out with friends. It's super good for groups. However, I would warn non-Canton locals that parking may be difficult. read more
