A bit overpriced but worth trying out. The atmosphere and decor were pleasant and the pizza was pretty good.

A group of 8 of us went to Verde for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night. I'll comment first on the food - the pizzas were very good. There was a lot of variety in the pizza options and we shared an array of selections among the group. The downside was mostly on the drinks. We all ordered a cocktail from the specialty menu. However, despite the promotion of "smokey" cocktails, the drinks we got were largely undrinkable. After a few sips, we ended up just ordering beers. Overall it was a good dinner spot, but not an every day place because the prices are a little intimidating. read more

The best pizza in Baltimore. My family is from Sorrento, Italy which is near Naples, where I spent a good part of my childhood and still visit frequently. Naples is the birthplace of pizza. Verde's pizza is the closest I've found in Baltimore. I have taken many friends, family members and work colleagues, who also fell in love with it. The only thing going for this place is the service. My server was quick, tentative, and patient as reading the menu might as well have been reading an encyclopedia. Everything is over worded. There's at least 50 food options on the menu, but each one varied by one or two ingredients. What's the point to that? The menu should be revised. There's beauty in simplicity. They boast about their housemade mozzarella, and there's one to many options for calzones. Their appetizer section is lazy and lacking. I've heard great things about their pizza, but I guess you shouldn't always believe everything you hear. I got the mozzarella with prosciutto and housemade bread. There was a humongous ball of mozzarella with a single slice of prosciutto draped over it, along with few slices of underbaked bread. Portion your food correctly. Even a little olive oil on the side could have helped the flavor, but everything lacked salt and most importantly, flavor. We also got a vegetable plate, which included some slices of bread, roasted red peppers, eggplant, and mushrooms. Seeing as the vegetables were oven roasted in their brick oven, nothing was warm on the plate. If they were intentionally chilled for service, it ended up losing all the smoky roasted flavor from the oven. Baby bellas were left whole, making it difficult to keep on my bread. Red peppers were probably from a #10 can. Eggplant was bland. Again, everything on the plate was cold. And where was the flavor? Alas, no salt to be found anywhere on this plate. For pizza, we got a pie that was specified on the menu as half white and half red called vizletta. Toppings weren't bad, but toppings don't carry a pizza. The crust left more to be desired: salt and a lot love. In short, the menu and food needs a ton of help. Decor is is casual, comfortable, and appropriate. I'm not sure why so many reviews have raved about this place. I guess the general consensus is that Verde isn't bad, so it must be good? Stick to Bagby and Hersh's if you want great crust and fresh, flavorful ingredients. Or stick with Verde's if you don't care. read more

I've been here 3 times and love the pizza. The first 2 times, there were some service issues and the menus were not accurate as they listed vegan options as vegetarian, but those issues seemed to have been fixed. Some of the cocktails are tasty and creative, but some are not. The pizza can be compared to Paulie Gee's except better and worth the price. Parking can suck in this neighborhood. read more

Good food, as always, but abysmal service. The waitress was very friendly but far overstretched since she was the only person working the entire upstairs. Of course this is not her fault at all but resulted in slow, poor, inattentive service. Much more problematic, though, was the extraordinarily rude manager. We went during restaurant week and on the prix fix menu you could choose one appetizer or salad, an entree, and a dessert. We asked if we could each choose an app and salad and entree and forego the dessert and the waitress said that was no problem. A minute after she brought out our apps and salads, the manager stormed over and shouting, told us we would be ineligible for the prix menu since that sort of pairing wasn't allowed. We explained that we specifically asked the waitress if this was possible and she had said we could. The manager continued to yell at us and say the waitress was new and wasn't authorized to do this and we'd have to pay full price. The manager was loud, rude, and unreasonable. OK, this was our second visit to Verde. The pizza was, again, excellent. The restaurant is very clean and stylish. The staff was very friendly, and went out of their way to make our kids happy. At one point, they gave my daughter some fresh dough to make her own pizza at the table! We had the plain, buffalo mozzarella, sausage and mushroom, and prosciutto. All were great. At the end of our meal, the owner came by and said hello. This type of service has basically become extinct. Not tonight. A definite visit for all pizza lovers. read more

We took the pizza making class on Sunday. Evan, Marianne, and Edward were fabulous. Very enjoyable class and delicious pizza and excellent wine and just an overall good time. Drove in circles for 10 minutes trying to find parking - hard on a week night in a very residential area. Location albeit is a little out of the way...which makes it a gem. The decor is super cute with a vintage European feel - shiny honeycomb tile, rustic wooden tables, open kitchen, industrial lighting, exposed brick, wooden beams and a chalkboard back bar. Trendy and homey unite. Burrata app was excellent - got it with a side of tomatoes. A little pricey but you're sure to have leftovers if there's only 2 of you. Sausage pizza was yummy...arancini app was bland but they took it off the bill. Hazelnut and pistachio gelato topped off an excellent meal. Waiter brought gratis house made limencello right before check, which was delightful. read more

Made reservations one afternoon and found out how popular this place is. Had to go a little earlier than desired so we wouldn't have to eat much later. We started with one of the pesto dishes while we waited for our fourth person. It was outstanding....especially the housemade wood-fired baked bread. I could've made a meal out of that. But I also feasted on one of the superb pizzas. I'd tell you which one, but it doesn't matter. Look at the toppings that you like and go for it, because they are all great. You won't be disappointed. The staff is also wonderful. Antonio was our server and was great with suggestions. Next time I'm in Baltimore, I'll be going to Verde. read more

Last Sunday, I feasted on one of the best pizzas I've ever had at Verde! From the delicate yet crispy crust on my Pizza Margarita to the creamy buffalo mozzarella in the Caprese appetizer, dining at Verde was delightful and the perfect quiet place to watch my Ravens dismantle the Dolphins. Before taking home my superb Nutella pizza, I promised the affable co-proprietor that I'd return and that's a promise I certainly plan to keep - with my crew of foodies in tow! I didn't give Verde five stars for good reason - because the service was peculiarly slow for an empty restaurant. The delicious food overshadowed this flaw but I hope, for the restaurant and my subsequent visits' sake, this remediable situation improves. read more

pizza is #1 with real pizza oven so takes longer/wait. spinach gorgonzola salad excellent but heirloom tomato/mozzarella a miss with no flavor, unripened, & hard center core left in, see photo! tiramisu - we've had better, it was creamy but weak coffee flavor! very hot/temperature wise sitting in the front part of restaurant where bar is at, only 1 ceiling fan over large long table but at least cold bottled water served frequently. read more

Verde has great pizza, a really lovely ambience and good service. The upstairs dining room is a little less hectic than downstairs. The pizzas can be a little more expensive than most "fancy pizza" places, but they're delicious. The only thing is that you can't order a pizza by the topping. It hasn't ever bothered me or most people I've gone there with, but I had one friend who was pretty put off. Don't go there if you expect to get a customized pizza. They treat their pizzas like entrees or gourmet dishes--they are recipes. The cocktails and wine selection are also really good, and the bartenders know what they're doing. read more

I have never written a yelp review before but this place is definitely worth it! I'm new to the area and have been dying for authentic Neapolitan pizza and I have found it. There menu was extremely impressive, prices were good, and my family loved it! I l have been to Naples before and this pizza is the best I've had since. From the great ambiance to the delicious cocktails this restaurant did everything right :) Definitely a must go for italian fare. Even though they have over 50 different types of pizza, our favorite thing hands down was the home-made Burrata mozzarella. I don't even remember what everyone else got, all I remember was my life changing Pistachio Pizza. It was so delicious! First time here, the place has valet parking (fantastic!) and the look of the place is very appealing. I ordered the cheese pizza (I forgot what they called it). My wife and I visited Monday night and we were very pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was casual sophisticated -- it is a bar that is well appointed without a lot of junk laying around. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and attentive. The menu had quite a few Italian inspired dishes, but we went there for pizza. Their pizza selection was very good - they even had vegan options, which we selected from. The ingredients were very fresh and the crust was thin, nicely crisp and flavorful. It appeared to be cooked in a wood or coal fired oven (though we didn't confirm that). We will certainly go back, and if the quality stays this good it will be a "go to" place. read more

I always get the gluten free pizza, and it never fails. It's not like that cardboard you get at every other place claiming they have gluten free pizza. It's has such a great texture and it tastes amazing. You can get any pizza with the gluten free crust, and I recommend trying all that you can. The ingredients at this place are always fresh and delicious and have me wanting more. The cocktails are also very good. There is variety and with whatever you choose, you will not be disappointed. read more

Just had dinner here for the first time with a party of 6. We were delighted to discover that it was Restaurant Week & ordered from that menu for an app, pizza & dessert for $20. Somehow the order got a bit confused in the system, so pizzas started coming out at the same time as starters. We were all VERY impressed at the way this was handled: not only did our (very friendly & attentive) server comp our beers, but the owner stopped by twice to apologize & ask if the food was ok. Speaking of which, the pizza was excellent. I'm kind of lazy when it comes to going too far outside of my neighborhood for a meal, but I will ABSOLUTELY be back to Verde. A new favorite! read more

This restaurant's food was good. I really did enjoy the pizza. The rating would be better had it not been for the way it ended. The owner, while being very nice and talking about his vision for the restaurant, was a little bit pushy. He wanted "to show" us the upstairs, which was really just a way to get us out of our table and to show us the exit from upstairs. He ushered us up, and out onto the balcony with the steps leading out. If you want to go and enjoy a night talking with friends, this is not a place you should go. read more
