    Meatloaf and cabbage side.
    Jeaux D.

I pass by O'Brien's everyday on my way to work and back home. Reading the daily specials on the outside board as I pass makes me want to stop. So today, I invited a coworker and we went for lunch. It looks like a former service station converted into a restaurant. There's usually a full parking lot as I pass on my way home around 5pm, which bodes well for our decision. Lunchtime today was not as busy. We were promptly greeted and seated by the hostess. Rustic decor and several pictures circa early 1900s were very interesting to see hanging on the walls. Lots to choose from on the menu. I opted for the meatloaf because one of the side specials was cabbage. Cabbage sounded good and it pairs nicely with my entree selection. While we waited, the waitress brought over some bread and herbs in oil and balsamic vinager which was very tasty. My meatloaf was tomato based which is the way I like it. The cabbage was delicious too. The portions were just right. My only critique is that it was a $20 plus lunch. I don't mind paying up for superior food. This was definately better than average, just don't know if it was $20 worthy. Just about everything on the menu was north of $15. I liked it and I will likely be back. I want to try the dinner fare. I don't think I will be back for lunch. There are too many good restaurants that have lunch specials under $15. Also to note, they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays I believe. Give this place a try if you are in Bergheim America. Bon appetite Yelpers!

Found this place not far from our home on Hwy 46. The food was good. I was impressed some. Filet was good. Very attentive to us. I will return.

Steak lunch and macaroni side was perfect size for lunch.

Took my wife over to Bergheim for lunch and were very pleased with the service and the meal.. Normally pretty crowded, but not Saturday at 1 pm which was good for us. Tracy (waitress) gave us excellent service and even had time to chat about grandchildren for a few minutes. I had the small steak and it was very tender and had lots of flavor! I will get this again when we go back.

    This was a great burger

Almost a month and a half beforehand, I made reservations online, which was quick and easy. For the occasion, they offered a special menu to help streamline ordering. The entrees were $28 and included either a mimosa or specialty drink. My mom and aunt both ordered the Southern Hospitality, which came with eggs, shredded hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, toast, and berry compote. My aunt paired hers with a mimosa while my mom chose a drip coffee. My little cousin had the mini stack pancakes topped with fresh berries and whipped cream. I was looking for a lower-carb option, so although I considered the omelette, most of the included ingredients were not to my liking. Instead, I ordered 2 eggs with added tomato and a side of hollandaise sauce. For my drink, I chose the Sunnycito coffee. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals! The presentation of each dish was beautifully curated. I really enjoyed my food overall, though I was not particularly fond of the hollandaise sauce. The flavor was not very enticing to me, and the consistency was a bit too thick. However, the Sunnycito coffee was absolutely superb! I almost ordered another one to-go. It was a beautifully blended, smooth, rich concoction inspired by a café con leche, or "cafecito", a Cuban-style coffee. When I looked over their regular menu beforehand, the drinks were labeled as either hot or iced, and I had only seen the Sunnycito listed hot, which is how it is traditionally prepared. Our wonderful waitress kindly asked if I would prefer it iced, and since I was in the mood for something cold, I happily agreed. I highly recommend this drink! They also add a hint of orange zest, which was such a unique touch and something I had never encountered before in a coffee. Despite how busy the restaurant was, everything seemed to run very smoothly. The staff remained attentive to everyone's needs, and our water glasses were never empty. I regret forgetting our waitress's name, but she was personable, sweet, and attentive throughout the entire experience. Altogether, it made for a very special and memorable Mother's Day celebration. I can't wait to return!

One oddity is there is a ramp leading to a door, but apparently that is not the entrance, at least according to the sign on the door. The entrance has stairs you need to ascend. So much for wheelchair and mobility issue friendly. We were seated quickly. Overall impressions are its clean, and normal restaurant chatter. There is seating inside, as well as outside, and apparently there is an upstairs seating area as well. Seating inside is close together, so this is not the place for conversation that you don't want others to hear. Waited quite a while without any acknowledgment of any kind, no drink order taken, nothing. After our waitress arrived, our drink orders were taken. At this point, since we still haven't received our drinks, I'm going to break from normal and mention the terrible service. I would normally wait until the end but this deserves mentioning. A different waitress approached and asked about our drinks. After another wait, our drinks arrived. Correction, the 2 coffees arrived. Not the Diet Pepsi that was ordered. On the plus side, my wife and daughter rated the coffees a 4.5 and 4, respectively. They did mention they were slightly less happy with the sizes. We finally placed our food order. Upon arrival, the food, fortunately, was excellent. My wife and daughter both rated the crepes 5 out of 5. I would rate the omelette 4.5-4.75. We are hoping the service was a fluke, because we had read good things about Sunny's, and their overall ratings are high. I can say this was one of the worst services I've experienced in quite some time, including fast food establishments. We will try again, and hopefully the service is better. So take from this what you will: Based on food and cost, I would rate Sunny's a 4.25. Factor in the service and I would rate it a 2.5, and wouldn't return. Hopefully our next experience is better.

This time, we went all the way to the Spring Branch area to eat here at Richter's Antler Inn. I had found it on an internet search for new places for our group. Nobody in our group of nine had ever heard of it, let alone eaten there. The distance scared a few off, but most of the usual folks came. I knew I was ordering liver and onions months ago when I first studied the menu. I got mine fried because one of my friends said that would be best. I knew my mom always sauteed it in a fry pan, so I passed on the grilled version. I was really shocked when it was served fried with a batter like a chicken fried steak. My friend said that was how her mama always did it. That will probably be how I always do it going forward. It was perfect. The whole plate, which included mashed potatoes with brown gravy and corn, was perfect. I also tried an Antlerita on the rocks. Believe me, it was the best margarita I have had in years. It was only something like four dollars at happy hour prices. I would have had another, had I not been driving. Others in our group had chicken fried steaks, fried catfish, and fried shrimp. I could see that all of the portions were large. I specifically asked how everyone liked their food. Not one negative response in the bunch. That always makes me happy as the organizer. The atmosphere here is pure Texas Country. It is beautifully rustic and felt like a very comfortable ranch lodge. I'm going to put it on the list for out of state guests in the future. Our server was a very young man. I tried to remember the name, but y'all no I have a mind like a sieve, as Daddy used to say. Anyway, he looked like he might have just graduated high school and gone straight to work here. He did a great job. I don't think there was one mistake on our order. Any my folks always make special requests that would annoy a veteran server. I'm going to mention the price here, because it simply blew me away. I had fried liver and onions, Texas toast, mashed potatoes with gravy, a margarita, and a sweet tea all for $16.00! I stopped for fast food the other day and paid more than that. This place is a hidden jewel. Give it a try!

The food comes out in the expected amount of time to make you feel like it was made just for you, but not from scratch, lol. I was disappointed in the mac n'cheese. It was extremely bland. And the corn was definitely from a can, not a bit of salt or butter. We shared a chopped sirloin and it was good. On other visits I can say I have enjoyed the chicken tender salad and fried catfish but really the chicken fried steak or chicken are my GO TO choices. I will say, if the owner is reading this...I know you are super busy, but your restaurant needs a good cleaning and refresh. It's kinda worn out. The chairs aren't comfortable. The booths need to be scrubbed, even the walls adjoining to the booths are dirty. Maybe your bussers clean the table tops great after each use, but the surrounding area is kinda gross. I am not saying I won't be back, or even that people shouldn't give it a try, just setting expectations and hoping that the owners make some time to get back to quality on every plate and at every table.
