Watch out for the slick salespeople in the Encinitas store!! 14 days ago my husband was in the Verizon Encinitas store upgrading his cell phone. The salesperson, Carlos, told him about a four hour special sale they were having on the ellipsis 7 tablets for only $20 each! My husband thought they would be a nice gift for our two grandchildren. The salesperson told him there would no change to our monthly bill! He told him that we would be receiving credits to offset the monthly charge for the tablets. He said it was a "wash". And, of course, if they did not work out for us we had 14 days to return them. The way the salesperson sold it, it seemed like a good deal. The salesperson did not tell him that the restocking fee would be 15% of the original price, not the sales price, which would be $70 per tablet. My husband purchased two thinking that there would be no monthly cost and it the grandchildren did not like them he could return them within 14 days not knowing about the restocking fee. I called customer service to ask about the credits the salesperson said we would be receiving and found out they are for the users on our account that are "out of contract" and will be gone as soon as they upgrade their phones so it is not a "wash". We decided to return the tablets, we tried to reason with the sales staff saying the costs were not fully explained. But the return policy is on the sales receipt. We paid the restocking fee for the 2 tablets of $140 and will not be shopping there again. Don't shop at the Encinitas Verizon store and if you do watch out for the slippery salespeople!! read more

I so want to love this store. I have been very happy with the network performance of Verizon in general and with the likeability of the people in the Encinitas location. Unfortuunately, Verizon as a company could care less about its loyal customers. I have been with them for overr 5 years, paying on average $400/month in regular monthly access charges for 6 ddifferent users on the account and a mifi device . I am happy to pay that amount for reasonably reliable access to data for all of those accounts. Priceless! Unfortunately thats where the good ends. I tried to suybmit a review directly with them so that they could address my complaints and was given a response that my review was rejected. The reason it was rejected was due to it including negative comments about their customer service. Not allowed. So when you see the 8.8 rating for Verizon from their own website, realize that they have only allowed the glowing reviews. Yelp and consumer affiairs is probably the more accurate representation since they don't control the content on those sites. My main problem with Verizon is that they can't be trusted. They will promise all kinds of savings but then never deliver. I'm not sure if this is slimey used car salesmen kinds of tactics or a corporate scheme to deceive their employess so they come off as genuine. But when you go into the store and they tell you it's only 10$ more for the 30 Gig data plan or that the Edge plan is a good deal, review it in writing before you believe. Trust me on this. What you are told in the store means nothing. What you are told through customer service (*611) rules. Do your homework. Great network. Poor customer service. You must hold them to their word to get reasonable prices. Good luck! read more

Long story short, I had to basically beg and ask the manager if I could buy a phone. He looked frazzled, looked at his iPad and told me there would a 45 minute wait. I said "to buy a phone?!" And then promptly took off. In this economy how are you going to make someone wait 45 minutes to buy something from you? Hire some more people brainiacs. read more

The worse customer service with the most idiotic employees I've ever met or dealt with. I wish I could give them a negative star and hope the store closes. Let alone hope that Verizon burns to the ground. I've had my contract for just about 2yrs and I will not be renewing my service with a company that can't make their customer's happy. I've had to replace my Droid X 4 times now because of issues on the phones part, nothing that I've done. Three times with different phones, the camera wouldn't work and now I'm sending another phone out because it stopped charging. After asking an employee to get us the manager to see what we could do, like waive a $20 fee to upgrade my phone, he replied with, "Why? What are you going to tell her that you can't tell me?" My wife and I just about lost it! We don't get mad easy and tend to steer away from starting drama, but this guy kept egging us on. So we were told to call customer service (using one of our own phones, not the stores), to see what they could do for me. After arguing with the lady on the phone about how it wasn't my battery, it was the phones housing where the charging port is, I asked if they could just upgrade me to a Droid X2 because of the issues none stop with the refurbished phones they have been sending me, and they wouldn't. But they wouldn't have had a problem giving me a cheaper phone like the incredible or another lower end phone, but as soon as I wanted one step up from mine that has been out for a while, they wouldn't. So now I'm back to waiting until Tuesday for my phone, this happened on Friday, and today is Sunday. So I've been out of a phone all weekend and I'm sure I've missed out on plenty of freelance projects because of not having a service I pay out the ass for... Verizon what are you going to do for me? Nothing at all? ok, sounds fair... I just wish these companies would at least really care about their customers, because at this point, I would rather pay less money, for more customer service. read more

The absolute WORST customer service. No appointment allowed on a real busy weekend. Put name in and waited an hour plus. Didn't have correct log in info so was put back on the list. Retrieved the info and had to wait, and wait, and wait. People coming in for online orders are given preference and put on the top of the list. So again, had to wait and wait and wait. Finally my turn. Only red and yellow iPhone XR's left, or so I was told. Another wait for the associate to find them in the back room. NO iPhone XR's available at all! I'm not sure where all the nice people have gone, but when my phone kept crashing and shutting down randomly, I would come to get a new phone because in all honestly, no phone should be shutting down unless I personally turn it off! Anyways, I came and the customer service people took care of me and I basically was told in a strong and with a raising voice, "Sir! Just because your phone keeps turning off by it's self, doesn't mean you can always come back and get a new one, it's just going to do the same thing." I replied with, "Right, I understand, but 5 times in the past 2 months is ridiculous! No phone should ever turn off by itself, and I want to speak to your manager." The guy gets the manager and tells him what's going on with the phone, and without me having a chance to speak to him, I ask for my phone back and ask for the number for the Verizon Offices so I could file a complaint. So irritated with this Verizon store! I wish I could say it was the first time I've walked out angry, irritated, mad as hell- or whatever other term you could use! Today was ANOTHER example of poor customer service- this time by Toby. Toby REALLY needs to take a class in customer service skills! I won't go into all the details, other than to say, another new employee, named Steve was helping me. He didn't know how some things worked, and asked Toby. Once Toby got involved I was SO frustrated. The other guy, Steve, just kept apologizing for Toby's argumentative and unprofessional treatment of me. Toby reminded me of one of those little Chihuahua dogs that just keeps nipping at your ankles and won't stop no matter what you try! Once we got beyond the problem that Toby needed to help, he continued to stand next to Steve and make derogatory and unneeded remarks. I remember the day when you could walk into this Verizon- which I have used for 20+ years- and you knew the people who worked there, they knew you by name, and HELPED you with the problem you had with the phone. Those days are long gone. Management changed in this store a few years back, and evidently the "big-brother" Verizon changed a lot of their policies too- and all of it reflects badly on them. My 2-year old iPhone 4's lock button broke (finally) - and I stopped in to see if anything could be done since I've been paying insurance on it forever. I am eligible for an upgrade, but my greedy little paws are waiting for Apple's new release. This is for the Verizon Wireless next to starbucks... not sure if this is the right place but it has to do with verizon... I wrote this as a customer comment/ complaint... whatever. Please read if you were thinking about buying the wireless internet card. First of all I do not anyone to write back to me about this. I want to address that I have been a loyal fan of Verizon for many many years and would not want to change cellphone companies before I purchased the internet card. I thought it's not that expensive and it would be the answer to my prayers! Especially being in a Master's Program I needed the internet desperately when it wasn't necessary to buy from a cable company when all I needed was the internet. I was lead to believe at the Verizon store that it was a good buy for an everyday use. I told the sales associate that I needed internet for school and personal use. I was not told "This is great for that BUT..... there is a gap of 5GB..... Do you know what that means?" I would have answered NO! My first monthly statement I used over 22 GB! I really do appreciate the awesome customer service over the phone that took care of the overage since it was clear to her that I was NOT aware of the 5GB limit. The customer service inside the store where I purchased the internet card was not accommodating and I felt that it was very rude of the manager to offer me, so generously, a package where I should pay more money. I'm in college and I'm tech-savy.... so No, I don't want to spend 90 dollars a month for an internet plan when I could get a better rate at a cable company with cable! I really think Verizon needs to seriously change this internet plan, offer better deals or different rates. I've told multiple people not to buy this internet card unless they want to monitor what they do online every single day. Which is exactly what I do! I have asked myself why I'm still in this plan and it's getting harder to come up with reasons to stay. So far not impressed with the Encinitas store or the people who work there (attitude appeared to be one of customers are a bother as they have to get up from their chairs). I bought an XR the day before and returned the very next day to exchange it for an SE. Agreed to pay the $50 restocking fee and since they did not have it in white would be shipping it to my home. Never received the SE. I go online to check my account and no order was placed and no return is mentioned either. So it looks like I have an XR though I returned it and they never placed an order for an SE. I'll find out tomorrow once they open what's happened. But really not impressed at all with this store. The last time I was there (quite some time ago) I also recall the attitude of the employee as unpleasant...I thought it was just him. Now I'm not so sure. read more

Verizon really sucks. I've been with them for almost 20 years and have been frustrated bc of high rates and bad service. Admittedly I've stayed with them because I've been lazy about shopping around. The last two times I was considering getting a new phone I contacted Verizon and all of their deals were based on getting new customers rather than keeping their current customers happy. I contacted AT&T and did the math and it is costing me $700 less to switch to AT&T and get a higher level of service than if I stayed. I am also paying $20 per month less and they are throwing in a free Apple Watch. When I contacted them just to see if they could price match their employee even told me our service is geared towards getting new customers. After leaving me on hold for 40 minutes he came back and offered me a $200 discount, against $700 saved if leaving them. My biggest regret about Verizon is that I gave them my service for so long. read more

So warning to all carriers. The insurance that we paid 40 extra dollars a month for it does not work. You file a claim and they get back to you in 24 hours and usually deny the claim it is such a rip off. The people at the store were so unbelievably rude. I talked to some guy who was completely disrespectful and lied to me about how much money I have paid and insurance. He also try to get me to upgrade knowing that I had insurance in the first place. Thank God for Cory! We signed up four members of the family to Verizon and hit so many issues. My phone was not accepting the sim and Cory tried everything he could before contacting support over the phone who kept us on hold for 40 minutes then cut the line without any warning. We tried online chat who were just as unhelpful. We had to leave my phone issue to tackle another one which involved a transfer of number over from another network. It was well past 7pm when the store was closed but Cory called support up for us. After 26 minutes, just when the agent was about to tell us what she sorted out, the line cut. Overall, our first experience with Verizon has been appalling, the only reason I have given stars is because of Cory's exceptional customer service. read more

Recently I visited the Verizon Wireless store in Encinitas to transfer my service from Sprint to Verizon and to purchase a new phone. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and since my tech skills are about a 2 on a scale of 10, needed a lot of information explained in terms I could understand. Lucy Brown was the sales associate who came to my rescue. She explained simply and clearly the pros and cons of several phones that I was considering and also explained the Verizon program. Although the store was busy (December 24th), she did not rush me, but stayed focused on answering all my questions, even helping me formulate some of them. As a result of her patient assistance, I was comfortable in making my decision to buy the IPhone 6 and later returned to buy the IPad Air 2. It is now a month later and I'm delighted with my phone and tablet. Folks at Verizon Wireless In Encinitas have helped me learn to use them, especially Lucy. Verizon provides a Sunday morning class to answer customers' questions about use of their phones and tablets. Carlos Leon taught the class that I attended ... he was such a good instructor that I learned more in one hour than I had in the previous month of reading how-to manuals. Out of all the Verizon stores in North County this is one of my favorite ones... Every time I come here the staff is fast, knowledgeable, takes care of your needs and goes the extra mile. Today I went in there just to pick up a phone charger... I was greeted by someone at the door immediately and she handed me off to Kat to assist me... Now Kat totally made my day today... she answered questions about other products I was curious about and I decided last minute to buy a second phone charger and She immediately mentioned that there may be a bundle special with that second purchase... And then I asked her a quick question about the Amazon echo and she took the initiative to look up another bundle package that was available And I basically walked out with a free charger and the Amazon Echo Show Video display with a huge discount rate just for purchasing the two chargers... Now I am a salesman myself so I know all about cross-selling and up selling but this was a deal that she presented that totally saved me money because I was looking at Amazon echo online to purchase it and she saved me about $150 today. She presented a deal that benefited me and fulfilled my requests... And again I just came in there for a charger and I walked out not just with more products that I wanted/needed but with satisfaction. She was able to put everything on my bill so I paid nothing out of pocket today, she took the time and the energy to answer all my questions while engaging In good conversation and I walked out of there proud to be a Verizon customer... That's how every sale should end. Kat thank you for helping me today and exemplifying what good customer service means... You don't see it much anymore these days. I will continue to be a Verizon customer and recommend Verizon and continue upgrading my products and services and going to that store just because of the small extra effort she took. Waiting until Black Friday we went into the Encinitas Verizon Wireless location being one of the first customers at the door. We were given to David Pham, and after reviewing our needs and asking about the advertised specials steered into program. After negotiating on the Galaxy 8, we were told the manager reduced the price of our two phones to half price which is what we were looking for. We asked David how much the payment was with taxes and other fees and he indicated the price included all fees, which was a lie. He also insisted we add the Zapp screen protectors at a cost of $80,which he didn't give an option on and he said he personally has and uses pretty regularly. My wife had to replace hers and after hassling with Zapp, finally got a replacement. The transaction was written on a blank piece of paper which I guess is the high tech Verizon uses these days and once I got the online bill realized we had paid full price for two phones, which was a total deception. I think this is a bad reflection not only for this store but on Verizon Wireless. I would warn anybody considering doing business with David Pham or Verizon Encinitas to find another store or carrier. Their management would do well working in a used car lot. Once the two years are over I will never use Verizon again as their customer ethics obviously are non-existent. read more

Went there yesterday because my stupid iPhone 4c wasn't working. Wilson helped me. He was amazing. Personable, funny, and took the time to get me the right phone and lower my bill. If I ever need to go back I will only work with him. The store is nice, big, and it seems to run like a machine which is good. The staff kept me informed of where I was in line. I've been a customer with Verizon for over 14 years and have found my experiences at this store to be above average in almost all circumstances. I am always immediately greeted and have never had to wait more than 20-30 minutes, usually it's about 5-10 if I'm not seen immediately (which in many cases I am). Steven Han has always done an excellent job at dialing in the best plan possible based on my data use and desire for a particular phone. He's helped me out of sticky situations, like when I broke an uninsured iPhone and was a year away from an upgrade and is also always available via text for questions I might have. Art (one of the managers) has been excellent at resolving any issues that Steven was unable to resolve himself. I recently had such an issue come up (which was the first as far back as I can remember) and spent quite awhile trying to resolve it with customer service (via phone). Once Steven got Art involved the issue was immediately resolved. While there are several facets to correcting the issue, they had both already thought of everything and assured me that the correction of it will cost me the least amount as possible on my end. This is something I really appreciate, as excellent customer service like this always makes it easier for me to work with people. I don't think anyone likes confrontation or bringing up negatives and their due diligence in correcting every facet of this issue (without me having to ask a million questions) has shown me that they do truly care and are there to help. As a small business owner, I think I appreciate this even more because I do truly understand the value of excellent customer service. They have now saved me time and money by correcting the issue at hand and by being prepared with a resolution to everything before I even walked into the store. I would highly recommend this store in particular and Steven as a sales associate to any one of my family members, friends or clients. read more

Every time I come to the store they lie to me. EVERY TIME!!! This has happened so many times I lost the count. They lied to me about $10 discount for the autopay with my credit card. They lied to me about my Samsung Galaxy phone that it is not a world phone trying to sell me another one. They lied to me about the unlimited internet plan and forced me to purchase another line that I did not need and a phone that do not use. I cannot trust any word they say. I have updated this review to expose the rudeness of the manager of this place, Anthony. I have chose this place based on previous experience which was positive. Today the manager (Anthony) have destroyed all my expectation about this location. If you are looking for a deal DO NOT come to Verizon in Encinitas, especially if Anthony is on duty. I activated my SEVEN phone lines under their new edge plan in which I was promised 25% discount for the accessories not knowing that the discount Anthony wanted me to take a bundle, a bundle where he can snatch the money off your wallet selling you their EXTREMELY overpriced accessories. As soon as the transactions/activations on the phones were completed (4 hours in the store) and I asked for the discount on accessories he rejected claiming that I should have the bundle not only phone cases. That was a trap, he waited until the transactions were completed to reject the discount. If you are considering to buy accessories for your phone, DO NOT GET THE ACCESSORIES FROM ANY VERIZON STORE. I recommend you get your accessories from Amazon which is three times cheaper for the SAME BRANDS. Anthony, you are one poor businessman and you do not deserve to be the manager, period. If this store decides to keep you, I feel you will spend the rest of your life behind that counter, if you are lucky. I can't imagine how miserable my business would be if I would to treat my customers the same way you handled my business today. Shame. For those who had similar experience with Anthony, please contact the District/Regional Manager and file a complaint. I personally will never go back to this store if Anthony is part of it. I had issues reactivating my phone, went to a verizon store and they weren't able to help me out outside of a "it could take up to 30 minutes". Three hours later, my phone still wasn't working and I couldn't get a human to speak to about resolving this. Will Carr was able to get my phone online and working in NO TIME!!! Not to mention he was very friendly and sociable and just have an overall great experience at this store. Definitely hit him up if you've got any issues! Went to pick up a phone here recently after ordering it by phone and the store people couldn't find the order and couldn't care less. I had to call Verizon 6 times with all their waits and urgings to use their to robots only to get my phone deal reneged and lose all confidence in this company. Terrible experience. I met a man today named Steven Han who made me feel like I knew a friend. Steven not only professionally took care of our family (my two sisters who are on Verizon, but I am not), but connected with us with all of our digital needs that most companies just don't provide. I am an ATnT customer and Steven Han is honestly making me considering to switching over to Verizon. And that's the thing, he and I didn't talk about the possibility of switching over and he didn't even pressure me or even ask to switch. His customer service, personality, communication skills, and knowledge was the thing that made me go "Wow I can't believe this company is this wonderful." We were able to do some very special things this day. We were able to participate in the sale of buy one phone get one 50% which we needed, we were able to upgrade our phones 15 days earlier than what our contract said because my sisters have been with Verizon for over 7 years, and we were able to get every single question answered professionally with knowledge. Steven Han is not just an employee to me, he is a professional man I want to work with in my next career. Because everything I strive for my guests can clients in my business, he did the same and that is why I am honestly considering moving to Version from ATnT because of the quality of his interaction alone. I had anxiety going in because of the PTSD that Apple stores have given me. Fortunately for me Jigme was there to greet me, guide me and take care of all of my needs. He is solid. The GM was also very cool, telling me about news innovations and experiences of his own. Jigme answered all of my questions and had me out of there fully stoked within 10 minutes. Which I never thought would happen. He even led me over to a wireless speaker I always wanted and he told me it was 1/2 off. I can't tell you how happy I am. What a relief. I've been a Verizon customer for a long time now and have gotten used to the inconsistent customer service at retail locations. However, I was pleasantly surprised with this location. The employees were nice, professional, and all calm which projected on to the customers... there was nobody yelling about their bill or broken phone, etc. I was taken care of but not pushed to upgrade. I thought maybe the good experience was just because I was upgrading and spending $ there but when I went back with a small problem with the memory card for my phone they helped me until it was fixed and were awesome about it. I went into the store today to get help with my rebate for a recent purchase. Traig Hall and Steven Han teamed up to provide me with outstanding service. They resubmitted my rebate for me, done. $50.00. Then, they found a corporation I am associated with and saved me $12.00/mo, boom. Then, they found a way to start-up a Hum service for me at no additional cost, so cool. They set the whole Hum unit up for me, registered it, set up the app and came to my car to make sure it worked and to demo the features. Who does that? These guys did. They also informed me that I can probably get a discount on my auto insurance with the Hum installed. Come on, really? I can't thank these 2 guys enough. Verizon has always been good to me for the past 10 years and with my daughter's phones, tablets and other services. Way to go!!! read more

He goes, yeah but it will cost $20 dollars to re-assign his number to your old phone. I go, OK so for like less than $50 dollars all this will happen. Do not use this location!!!! The first guy we dealt with - Patrick - lied to us! AND when we said we wanted to add a line for $10 he laughed outloud and said "you didn't seriously think you were going to get cellphone service for $10 a month?!?!? He sold me a iPhone 4S in 8G instead of 16G. I didn't realize until after the 15 day return period and now I am stuck with a phone that doesn't work most of the time. Patrick also lied about the billing and we had to spend hours getting it straightened out with corporate. When we went back in to the store and asked to speak with the manager, he hid in the back! I want back and made him talk to us but he was rude and completely unhelpful. As we turned to leave an employee standing next to him said in a very loud mocking voice "HAVE A NICE DAY!" and laughed. We turned around and the guy said it two more times while laughing. I asked the manager if he was seriously going to allow his employee to do that and he said he's just telling you to have a nice day. I don't know either of their names but the manager is very small - maybe 5' 5"-6" with light hair and the guy who way laughing at us was about 5'11-6', dark hair with a few extra pounds. I am on hold with Verizon while writing this - it's been 15 minutes. The recording says to expect longer wait times than normal but this is what I have gotten every time I have called. My phone doesn't work. My boyfriend was close to killing the guy in the store so I can't go back in there.. I MISS AT&T!!!!!!! But if you HAVE to use Verizon - DO NOT USE THIS STORE LOCATION!!!!!! I will never go to another Verizon location again! I was told by my best friend to go to the Encinitas location and ask specifically for Jigme because he has always helped her family. I cannot explain how fantastic he has been every step of the way! He not only helped me with my original request, he reviewed my account and made suggestions to change it to a corporate plan which no one else previously did. He cleaned things up and got my bill back to "simple and straight forward". he made us feel like we were the most important customer in the store and did everything with a smile and a genuine attitude. It is so refreshing to see someone of his age working hard and having that much pride in helping people. I can't say enough about him. I will be a customer of his, and verizon, always. read more

Last year I went in to upgrade my phone and the sales representative was more concerned with getting more sales then helping me. He processed my upgrade and handed me my new phone in the box still sealed. When I asked if he was going to activate it he told me I had to do that myself by calling it in. That was a bad experience! fast forward to now. I go to return some items purchased over the phone through Verizon when upgrading two lines on my account, first the sales rep tells us that he can only return two out of the four items. He then tells us we have to call corporate to exchange the other two items. When I called corporate they couldn't understand why the store lacked in customer service and didn't return everything, turned out that because they had already processed some of the returns now corporate couldn't do the rest so I had to go back into the store but he assured me they had everything in the notes and it wouldn't be an issue. I show up at the store and the female manager checking people in proceeds to claim "just because it's on the notes doesn't mean I can override my system". I mean why the heck does the store always say one thing and the phone reps say another? At that point I was just disgusted in the professionalism and lack of customer service with this place. What she should of said is... "We Can print out a label for you to return it but won't be able to do it in the store, either way it will get taken care of in your account". These stores are becoming less and less helpful, if they are not making a sale they don't care to help you! I've had Verizon for 16 years and I've never had such bad service like I have at this store. I will no longer process any of my sales here. I have an upgrade coming up and even though this is the closest store to me I will be going somewhere else. Such a shame! I highly suggest some customer service training for your reps starting with your managers. read more
