I cannot begin to describe how disgusted I am with GoWireless as a company, their N.P. store manager Matt, as well as Verizon to a lesser degree, and I will describe our experience in great detail. Similar to what Patrick W here experienced, my Mother and 16yr old Daughter were not only completely and utterly defrauded at this store by a salesman who not only used profanity to describe some of the HTC 1 phones negatively, but when I was made aware of the fraud, went in personally to handle it with the manager Matt, his lack of any actions or promised follow through made it clear that this is how they do business and is indicative of GoWireless as a company. This all started back in August, when my daughter broke her HTC 1, and went into our local GoWireless store here on Broadbeck Dr., in the Islands shopping center. My Mom took her, since they share a plan together. The salesman they dealt with was aggressive and pushy, and put a bad taste in my daughters mouth. She wanted another HTC 1, as she was already familiar with it, and does very little beyond using it for calls and texting, but the salesman told her that she didn't want that phone, it was, Quote, "A Piece of S#I!" and that she should only get the top of the line HTC model, the HTC 10. He told them that they were eligible for a "Free Upgrade", and conveniently left out that the the full price of the phone would be amortized on her bill. My Mother, being on a fixed income, would certainly not have agreed to the $700+ phone, no how/no way. Once I was made aware of her now nearly $200 bill, 2 months later after she was complaining of the second bill in a row that was now doubled, I called Verizon to find out what was going on. The Verizon rep explained that this new HTC 10 phone had had been added to the account, as well as insurance on both phones, (My Mother's phone is 4 years old and doesn't need a $15 per month plan!). The Verizon rep also expressed disdain over the situation, and was very apologetic on behalf of Verizon, indicating that these types of situations were anything but uncommon. She said that these Verizon affiliates are well known for these types of tactics, and unfortunately, there was nothing she could do, this would have to be taken up with GoWireless directly. I called this local GoWireless to find out who the manager was, and after a week, was finally able coordinate time off from work to go in and talk directly with the Manager, Matt. I wanted to give him the opportunity to rectify this issue, and so my Mother and I explained the situation. Matt indicated that he knew who the salesman was, and also alluded to acknowledging that this was anything but the first time there have been issues with that employee. Unfortunately, that salesman no longer works at that location. Matt expressed what appeared to be genuine concern, and promised that he would call me back with an update regarding what could be done on Monday, or Tuesday at the latest. Monday came and went, Tuesday also, then Wed/Thurs/Friday...... no reply. I called Saturday and talked to Matt. It took him a bit to remember who I was/what the situation was, and then just indicated that he had not heard back from anyone at corporate-no mention of why he had not bothered to follow up with a reply earlier to me as promised to indicate this. At this point, his demeanor was one of indifference, and I was done with wasting anymore valuable time waiting for him to do nothing. I asked for his superior's number, and indicated I would take it from here. In addition to calling GoWireless corporate, I will also be filing a BBB complaint against Gowireless, as well as letting HTC corporate to let them know how GoWireless chooses to represent them. I'll also be in contact with Verizon President Ronan Dunne, Executive Vice President John Stratton, as well CEO Lowell C. McAdam, to inform them how their Verizon affiliate GoWireless, is actively defrauding their customers, and that we will be taking our business to AT&T, if necessary. It's truly unfortunate how GoWireless chooses to condone conducting this kind of business. My steps to rectify this issue will hopefully change the way they choose to conduct business in the future, and spare anyone else from being tricked into this kind of fraudulent situation. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Eric today at this particular Verizon authorized outlet. He was beyond helpful as far as giving me answers I needed concerning my account. He was able to look up my devices and my service and data plans and confirmed that I am paying the correct amount for the levels of service that I want. He went above and beyond the call of duty to identify potential upgrades and forthcoming options associated with devices that are activated on my account. One question he wasn't entirely sure about the answer to he looked up, which is good because many times representatives at competitors stores will just make up an answer and that is not helpful for anyone involved. The store I visited today is conveniently located in Newbury Park by the freeway, it is clean, and there are places to sit and wait for your service. You cannot ask for much more than that, and I will continue to rely on Verizon and GoWireless for my communication needs. read more

THIS IS NOT A TRUE VERIZON STORE! If you get over charged by Go Wireless or have other issues, Verizon can't do much to assist you since this is an independent retailer that is only authorized to sell Verizon products. IT IS NOT VERIZON! Yes, it is always empty for a reason, and probably NOT a good one! They will sell you many items that Verizon will simply replace for you free of charge. They seem super friendly initially, but who wouldn't if they were about to receive commission off you? Don't even attempt to return anything because you will end up paying them to take the defective merchandise back! I makes me sick that people are still going to this store and are being taken advantage of on a daily basis. Do yourself a favor and go to a Verizon retail store! It has taken me several weeks to get the issues corrected that Go Wireless did. They do not follow Verizon's procedures nor do they match Verizon's pricing. They overcharge and are incompetent. You will get fantastic service by just calling Verizon and not even entering a store in my opinion. So very disappointing to see that Gowireless has a C- rating with the BBB. My terrible experience with them appears to be the norm. I went in with my Granddaughter to get her broken phone replaced, the salesman used profanity and defrauded us by not telling me that my "Free" upgrade was going to cost me over $1000 between the price of the phone, the tax, and the $15 per month insurance. I'm on a fixed income, and would never have agreed to this. My Granddaughter didn't even want the HTC 10, she was fine with her HTC 1, but the salesman described her phone as a "Piece of S_ _ _", and pressured us to get the HTC 10, because it was a free upgrade anyway. I called Verizon to find out why my bill was so high now, and discovered the new charges. The Verizon rep was very apologetic, and said this happens all the time, but there was nothing she could do, I would have to deal with Gowireless on my own. I went into Gowireless and talked with the manager, Matt. He promised to call us back in 3 days with some kind of information on what could be done-he never called. Newbury Park/Thousand Oaks is a small, tight knit community, and I am letting others know through word of mouth, social media, as well as filing a complaint with the BBB, and Verizon directly to remind them how an affiliate of their's is treating their customers. Celina is absolutely awesome! We ran into difficulties opening a new account for me due to issues with an existing account that was not closed properly. I was almost ready to give up but she kept trying. She went above and beyond to get to the bottom of the issue. And all of this was done after hours since we walked into the store just 20min before closing. She stayed after 9pm on a Sunday night to make sure everything was done properly and that I was happy with my purchase and understood every line item on the bill. She's availably the best! read more

I have been going to this store for years and have always had very good experiences. Went in the store today to upgrade my iPhone and had another very pleasant experience with the sales representative, Chloe. She was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. She spent a lot of time with me and answered all my questions. Her customer service was top notch and she spent extra time ensuring that I got what I needed for the best possible prices. Our first visit in April, 2011 was boardering on unpleasant. The agent insisted we not purchase an iPhone and instead get the latest and greatest Droid...Well that should have been an indication to get out of there as shortly thereafter, two different customers can looking for help and the 'manager' offered up only a negative response and attitude.... Fast forward to today. I was given rebate information to mail in to Verizon. When Verizon returned it to me for incorrect information, I called the store for assistance. After talking to a trainee and then someone else, he insisted that the manager would have to call me back. Well, that didn't go well either. This manager insisted that I already got my rebate and the the price I paid was already adjusted and that he would do nothing else for me. Buyer... BEWARE: Misrepresentation galore! After bringing our business to this store for the last 6 years, I will never do so again (at least not as long as Matt is the manager). He had called my husband and left a VM that we could reduce the cost of our monthly plan AND get a FREE iPad. So we met with Matt and asked a lot of questions, after which my husband got an inexpensive new Galaxy phone, and we reduced the cost of our monthly lines by $20 each, keeping our data plan to the same low minimum. Matt also presented us with the "free" new iPad. I told Matt we did not want to pay for a new line for the iPad, as we didn't want it to use any of our monthly data allowance, and he said we just needed to turn the wifi off on the device. He failed to mention that not only would there be a $10 monthly line charge for the iPad, but there would be a monthly $9 insurance fee and and monthly payment to pay off the "free" iPad in excess of $30. Nowhere on the Bill of Sale did it clearly show this monthly payment, and he did not review the other monthly charges (nor the $30 activation fee) triggered by the "purchase" of the iPad. We only found out about these charges by logging onto the Verizon website and reviewing our "Estimated Next Bill". When we called the next day to find our why there were charges, Matt told us we had to take the iPad in order to reduce our monthly costs. When I called Verizon corporate customer service, I was told that there is no correlation between the new reduced monthly costs (since there are no longer 24 month contracts) and us getting a new iPad, and that this was mis-representation of Verizon's offerings to us. We returned the iPad immediately and got a refund for the sales tax we paid. Matt didn't have much to say. I have been a Verizon Wireless customer for over 12 years, and I am glad that the corporate customer service people have taken on getting this all squared away, crediting any charges related to this iPad (which the "system" shows we had for 5 days, but which we only had for 48 hrs., and it never left the box). So - BUYER BEWARE... if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably IS. Taking our business to corporate stores from now on. read more

I bought my wife a 16gb iPhone 5c for our anniversary. While we were buying the phone the salesperson offered their "grip" insurance which was something like 10 dollars a month and covered the phone against accidental damage, theft, and loss. I turned it down 2-3 times during the sale. The next day my wife decided she wanted to get the 32GB version and returned to the store to upgrade it. While she was there the salesperson talked her into the insurance by promising her that the phone would be replaced at no additional cost to her. This seemed suspicious, but the salesperson promised her more than once that this was the case. Today my wife dropped her iPhone and shattered the screen. When she called the grip insurance they told her there was a $199 deductible (the apple store replaces screens for 149) on top of the 10/month she has already paid for the insurance. Not only is the insurance a pretty bad deal, but my wife was completely lied to by the staff at this store. read more

Dishonest sales associate. I went there with my son to change his phone to a smart phone on our plan. The associate recommended more data for 10 per month which we agreed to and plus 20 per month to add the xtra smart phone - no problems. Then he tells me my plan includes a free tablet. I told him "If the tablet is free that is fine but if there is any monthly costs for it, I don't need it". He responded that no there is no monthly costs it just uses your data plan. I figured that would be okay because we just upgraded to 10gb but was still suspicious. I asked several more times if there were any monthly fees for the tablet and each time the response was no. My son was there and I asked him and he said that's what you told him over and over again. So I get the tablet and 2 days later I am trying to find out how to shut off an app on the tablet and search the web and hit a site where people were saying it wasn't worth the $10.00 monthly fee. Now I am mad I take the tablet back (had it 2 days) and the same associate tells me there is a $70 or $75 restocking fee. He then tells me that he told me there was a monthly fee! Are you serious! I was so insistent in asking if there was a monthly fee and every time he said no. Now I am having problems. Sales associate said I have to talk with the District Manager, I leave my name and number but no call. Associate said He would be in the store today I went in and no manager so I left my name and number yet again. I went to the store in Westlake hoping to get ahold of the district manger thru them and they tell me that the Newbury Park store is not corporate and they have no control over them. I call corporate and they tell me the same thing. So the store in Newbury Park can lie to your face, REPEATEDLY, and no one you can go to. Stay away from this sham. No morals, no ethics just liars and thieves. Be warned. Update** I went back to the store in the afternoon of the 16th and once again tried to get this resolved and still no help. I asked that they call the manager and they said he was home sick so I told them then you know where to get ahold of him. I waited and they finally called him. He called me on my cell and I explained how the employee flat out lied repeatedly to me. He said that they cannot take back items due to corporate policy without charging return fee but that the District Manager could do this and that he would call him and I would get a call back the night of the 16th or the morning of the 17th. Pay close attention to the name on the front of the store "Verizon Wireless preferred retailer" - NOT a Verizon corporate store and they have different rules and you can't go to Verizon for help when these liars take you. Update** The store manager left a message on my phone morning of the 17th saying that the district manager has agreed due to the "miscommunication" to waive the restocking fee and that I can bring the tablet in Monday when he gets the code from the DM I am keeping this 1 star rating since being able to finally return the tablet after all this doesn't change the fact that the employee lied to me repeatedly. I also remembered that during our conversations and me trying to make sure nothing unexpected was going to happen I said "to confirm I am only adding 10 dollars a month for the data plan change and 20 dollars per month for the smart phone addition" and again got his confirmation that this was correct. Due to the rules of this forum I have left the sales associates name out but expect this kind of service from anyone in this store. Also remember that you do NOT see the contract you are signing, they have a digital signature tablet on the desk that you sign and you DO NOT have the paper contract in your hands to read when you sign it so the surprise comes when you see the contract on your account. read more

I was in this locations last Sunday buying my wife and a phone and I was so shocked and displeased. The gentleman Devon helped up out and he set up the phones. Didn't seem to really be too sure about what he was doing. But I have patience with that my son works for Verizon in Washington. But as soon as the next sale walked in he rang us out and pushed us off to the side I was left there with our numbers changed and figuring out how to set up our phones for an hour on our own. It was just very displeasing and uncomfortable experience. He made us feel like we weren't welcomed any longer I had my wife and two small children with me. I will say there was a young lady working I didn't see a name badge but she walked past us and offered to help us setup both of our phone to give her some time but the poor thing had two customers she was taking care of. I'll also throw in she was next to Devon walking answering all his questions at the same time. Thanks to the young lady. But it was sad to see especially because my brother walked in a couple days prior and it was close to closing time my mom needed a flip phone because my father recently passed and same boy sent my mom and brother away. Do not go to this store. They aren't even a Verizon store and Matt will tell you anything to sell you a phone and service agreement. They promise discounts they can't get approved through Verizon. I've been going back in and calling them for 3 months now for a credit they promised me would show up on my account. Matt blames it on his Verizon rep, Michael, who I think is some fictitious character who he says has to make the credit to my account. My monthly bill is higher than Matt promised and I'm still not seeing my $248 credit that was promised to me. This store sucks. Go to a real Verizon store. read more

Brandon made this shopping experience excellent! If you are going to go to this store, then definitely ask for him to help you. I upgraded to a Galaxy S7 in February of 2017 and Brandon went out of his way to make it an easy transition. He helped to lower the monthly bill and he made sure that we got the current specials that they were offering. I couldn't be more pleased with customer service.
