The food was solid, especially for being part of a museum. Would recommend the ribs over the pulled pork. The rib meat is soft and falls off the bone, and has enough dry rub seasoning to eat without additional sauce. The pulled pork wasn't bad but it was pretty average and kinda requires BBQ sauce due to its dryness and lack of flavor. The Mac was my favorite part of the meal, but I'm predisposed to love Mac and cheese. Thick and creamy cheese with flavor on the stronger side. Mac was very soft, to the point where it's texture was starting to blend in with that of the cheese. Potato wedges are kinda just sitting on the warming element so they taste as one would expect. Not that crispy, but still acceptable. Flavor is fine, nothing special. Cornbread is similar. Kinda dry and somewhat sweet like cornbread usually is. I'd say the cornbread is a bit sweeter than usual though. The vibe is pretty nice if you like Elvis music. Personally I feel like I would've preferred a more retro vibe. Visiting Graceland has become an annual event in my household and we always make Vernon's our lunch spot in the middle of our day of touring. It's set up in a cafeteria-style, where you grab a tray, order, and your plate is made. We always get the BBQ Sampler which means you get one rib, one smoked chicken wing, smoked brisket, and pulled pork, plus 2 sides, and roll or cornbread. Their desserts are the standard Southern style choices like pecan pie, apple pie, peach and cherry cobblers, and cheesecake. Bonus, they also serve Coke products, with my favorite, Coke Zero. Employees are friendly enough and of course, Elvis concerts are playing on the tv screens, which makes it even more awesome when you're eating such wonderful bbq in the middle of one of the happiest places on earth (if you're an Elvis fan). We purchased the Ultimate VIP Graceland Tour Package which includes a complimentary meal (if you do the early tour time) at Vernon's Smokehouse. It's cafeteria style, walk up ordering type of place. They have a good variety of meats and sides, but we were surprised at the low/little flavor. They serve the food on styrofoam plates and give you plastic utensils. Do you know what happens when you put your fork into a piece of meat on a styrofoam plate? It goes right through the plate. They need to rethink the serving for sure! I just figured a restaurant on the Graceland property with Elvis' daddy's name would be better. I had minimal interaction with the staff, but what I did have was good. Great southern bbq right in Graceland! Food was great, lots of places to sit, and they had a few Elvis memorabilia. I wish it was more of a unique Elvis experience. Vernon's didn't blow us away but was definitely good. So, 3 stars it is. We had the Ultimate VIP Tour at Graceland which comes with a free meal at Vernon's when you're finished. You can get whatever you want for your meal, so that was nice. Vernon's is like a cafeteria style joint, where you have your sides and entrees in front of you. and you travel down the line with a tray. I went with the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and brown gravy and okra. The meatloaf is standard meatloaf with a tomato sauce top. It was not dry at all and had that classic meatloaf taste. The okra was good but not great and the potatoes and gravy were average as well. I would get this lunch again depending on the price, which I do not know as we had the voucher for the free meal. My mother had the ribs which were very good as well. They were large and not oversmoked, so the meat had a slight tug off of the bone but was still flavorful and juicy. I'd get these again as well. It may have been that the food tasted better than it is because we were tired and had just come off of a 3 hour tour of the grounds. But, it defintely did the job and we were all pleased. Were I to return to Graceland in the future I would eat at Vernon's again, but it's definitely not worth making a trip to Graceland just to eat at the restaurant. read more

My favorite was the pork and least favorite was the chicken. Other than the tasty cornbread, the sides were disappointing. The corn is cooked inside of the pig, the server said, so I was expecting it to have an amazing flavor. It was very bland to me. The cornbread was more like a dessert and it was pretty tasty.
