    Brisket? Really?

Absolutely garbage. Meat is so fatty. Sides are limited. Service was pretty bad. Very short staffed. Desserts empty. Never again for $48

Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, peach cobbler and lemonade. In the back there's a Cobb salad with ham

We got vouchers with our Graceland tour, and decided to try it out. It's cafeteria style serving, and is a little confusing when you first get up there, but the staff was nice. I got meatloaf, Mac and cheese, cornbread and mashed potatoes. I also got a peach cobbler/pie on the side. The mashed potatoes were my favorite, the gravy was really good and well seasoned, the Mac and cheese was delicious as well. The meatloaf was okay, I just don't think it was to my taste. The cornbread was sweet and moist. The peach dessert was okay, I liked the peaches but not so much the pastry.

Visiting Graceland has become an annual event in my household and we always make Vernon's our lunch spot in the middle of our day of touring. It's set up in a cafeteria-style, where you grab a tray, order, and your plate is made. We always get the BBQ Sampler which means you get one rib, one smoked chicken wing, smoked brisket, and pulled pork, plus 2 sides, and roll or cornbread. Their desserts are the standard Southern style choices like pecan pie, apple pie, peach and cherry cobblers, and cheesecake. Bonus, they also serve Coke products, with my favorite, Coke Zero. Employees are friendly enough and of course, Elvis concerts are playing on the tv screens, which makes it even more awesome when you're eating such wonderful bbq in the middle of one of the happiest places on earth (if you're an Elvis fan). If I lived locally, I would come here all the time, even if not visiting Graceland. Highly recommend!

I hate to give anything Graceland less that 5 stars, but we were not impressed with Vernon's Smokehouse. We purchased the Ultimate VIP Graceland Tour Package which includes a complimentary meal (if you do the early tour time) at Vernon's Smokehouse. It's cafeteria style, walk up ordering type of place. They have a good variety of meats and sides, but we were surprised at the low/little flavor. They serve the food on styrofoam plates and give you plastic utensils. Do you know what happens when you put your fork into a piece of meat on a styrofoam plate? It goes right through the plate. They need to rethink the serving for sure! I just figured a restaurant on the Graceland property with Elvis' daddy's name would be better. I had minimal interaction with the staff, but what I did have was good. Hopefully they will fix the issues with the food and serving.

We decided to try this in-house restaurant to save time visiting Graceland. We decided to placed different order to sample each one. I enjoyed my pulled pork flavored with Memphis known bbq sauce, sweet and tangy. My sidter enjoyed her catfish too, a bit salty for her tasting though. Easy and fast service. We Just picked a meal package and included the sides. We got to try their Sweet tea, yes, it is as sweet as the Memphis people.

The bbq sampler. Sides: Cole slaw, broccoli cheese, and mashed potatoes. Dessert: cherry cobbler.

Great southern bbq right in Graceland! Food was great, lots of places to sit, and they had a few Elvis memorabilia. I wish it was more of a unique Elvis experience. Wish the ambience was more magical with Elvis music playing and the feeling that you're truly immersed in Elvis world. But it just felt like another bbq spot.

We came here to avoid losing time going elsewhere and be able to take our time at graceland. You walk in and order food, and then you sit down to enjoy food. While the food was good, the amount for the BBQ sampler was very small. I finished it and had to go back to get more food because I was still hungry. Got a sandwich and it was very good and honestly believe it might have had more meat than the sampler.

Lunch was included with our ticket, so instead of leaving the grounds we gave it a try. The inside was nice and clean with plenty of places to sit. It was a line order so service was quick. I went with the fried catfish, mashed potatoes, corn, cornbread and banana pudding. I'm not sure what it would have cost for everything if it wasn't included with our tickets but it was pretty good.

Food venue in the Entertainment Complex across from the ticketing area. Cafeteria style restaurant with casual, open seating. As you would expect, they had all the usual southern smokehouse fare. We elected to have salads for lunch and save the heavy lifting for dinner. The salad were pre-packaged for selection from the self-serve part of the cafeteria line. Dressing were individual serving packaged portions you find at restaurants throughout the US. They also offered hot desserts. The server dished them into styrofoam containers for us. We tried the cobbler and we were not impressed. If we return, we will try something else.

After doing the Graceland tour, was given a free lunch voucher, recommended to give Vernon's a try. I saw the sampler was available, so, I figured, why not. On the platter was a chicken thigh, bbq brisket, and a pork rib. The sides were Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and a slice of cornbread. Service was quick and attentive. Before long I was searching for a seat, heard Elvis music everywhere, on the video screen as well. Not too loud, so it was an enjoyable meal. Will give the meatloaf a try next time.

Vernon's smokehouse is a lovely cafeteria style eatery inside Graceland complex. The food was very good. The positives were nice seating , ambience, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, broccoli rice casserole , okra , corn bread, peach cobbler, cherry cobbler, banana pudding all delicious! Now for the Con.. the staff sucks! On a monday at 11:30 There were only two other customers in there and when my mom& I went up to the counter the 2 staff didn't even look up. We stood there giving them a moment but one was on phone and the other messing w the food. I said are we in the right spot to order? The looked up and I told them my order. Zero words spoken to us. The cashier. Young man. No greeting. Only is that all together? That's it. No expressions on Any staff. At the shuttle on way back to hotel other people commented on the lack of smiles, greetings at Vernon's. Evidently this was not uncommon for listening to other frequent customers on the shuttle. Will I return to Vernon's. Yes. Convenient good food.

This location is a large building with lots of seating options. I had to try Central as it keeps winning awards and is consistently mentioned as the top BBQ place in the Memphis area. Some of their awards were displayed at the entrance and on the walls. Lots of history. My wife ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich and had the slaw on the side so I could have it (she's not a slaw fan). I had the small order of ribs with 1/2 dry and 1/2 wet with sides of BBQ Beans and Mac n Cheese. I tried the pulled pork and it was tender and delicious. My ribs were pretty good with my favorite part being the wet ribs. The dry part was overcooked and really dry and chewy. This was a bit of a disappointment. The BBQ beans were flavorful but a bit mushy. The Mac n cheese also mushy a bit but tasted better than it looked. I love great BBQ so I like Central BBQ but may have caught them on a bad day. Oh, they were out of a lot of T Shirt options/size I wanted too. Darn. I wanted to buy one. I would return and try the brisket, pulled pork or poultry items next time.

There was a time when Central barbecue was the only place I would eat barbecue in Memphis. But food…read moreand service has ruined that. I visited the downtown location on 5/24/26 at 6:15 PM. I ordered wings and two dry slabs of ribs. When my family and I finally decided to eat the ribs on Monday, they were disgusting. They had seasoning caked all on them, and they were overly salty. We wiped off the caked-on seasoning and tried to eat around the saltiness. I was praying the 2nd slab was not the same. When I opened them on 5/27 to see, they were the same. I was trying to avoid calling because I just didn't feel like being bothered. But I called. I left a message for the manager to return my call that morning because "he is in the middle of an interview." So I called back that afternoon and was transferred to Ethan. I explained the situation to him. As I was speaking, he kept making the noise un-huh. So, I stopped talking and asked him what it meant aside from it just being rude as hell. He went on to explain that they missed a step and did not rub in the seasoning and shake it off. I don't care. It's an internal quality issue that should be handled with the prep and cook staff. Not me. He asked if I had my receipt and, in a tone that suggested he was doing me a favor, advised me that he would replace the slab. No apologies for the inconvenience or anything.   After my long workday, I went all the way downtown to get the slab replaced. In person, Ethan is just as rude. I asked if he was going to replace both slabs. He could clearly see the quality was trash. He said no and that he would only replace one. Then went on to offer me sides and a slice of cake. No, thank you. I can afford sides and cake just like I did those trash slabs of ribs. Those slabs of ribs cost $62.40 before taxes. With taxes probably being another 5 or 6 dollars. Your mistakes and poor quality should not cost me. He had a young lady bring the replacement slab back out to me. She didn't say thank you or anything. One thing I know is that a white man or woman patronizing your business would not have been treated this way. As a result, moving forward I will spend my Black woman dollars elsewhere on barbeque and smoked chicken wings. Also, I removed you all from my company's approved catering list where we spend a nice amount with you all yearly. Tell Ethan, thanks for helping me see the light and not spend money where I'm not respected and where my customer experience isn't valued.

It is probably way easier on the crew to clean up, and it adds to the relaxed atmosphere. I had the corn nuggets to start, yum! We finished them easily, they were so good. Then the entree of my chicken tenders, beans, and Mac and cheese came out, along with my sweet tea. The sweet tea was perfect, I drank a whole one during my meal and they gave me another to go in the souvenir Gus's cup. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming, making it a comfortable spot to grab a bite. I wasn't really a fan of the mac and cheese, as it leaned way too heavily on the processed cheese flavor and ended up overly cheesy in a not-so-great way. The texture and taste reminded me more of melted processed cheese than a rich, homemade mac and cheese. However, the service was delightful and easily made up for some of the disappointment with the sides. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout the visit. While not everything hit the mark for me, the great service and tasty fried chicken make Gus's worth trying if you're in the mood for comfort food.
