It was my first time here today as I joined a friend for lunch. We were warmly greeted and sat promptly to a very comfortable table right along a window. Although I didn't order from it, I glanced for a moment at the drink menu and some of the cocktails looked amazing and I'd love to go back and try them with a dinner some time. My friend ordered the chicken caprese panini which was the size of the entire plate. Enough for two meals! I got the pistachio crusted salmon over risotto which was on special. I have left Great reviews in the past , however this past week they missed the mark. Wife ordered and they said 30 min, she gave them 40 min by time she arrived. When she did arrive her ticket had not been submitted and they told her it would be 15 min. 30 min later and still no meal, the wife inquired and got attitude from a waitress. My wife loves this place, the Italian bomb grinder is her favorite. For her to say we won't be going here anytime soon, says a lot about how much she was upset. I had the cheesesteak grinder for the first time and the last time. The bread was pure dough, barely a crust on the outside and center was pure dough. When I pulled the grinder out of the bag, I thought this thing is packed with meat, sadly my five pound sandwich was just dough. You guys were always good to great before, pls do better. read more

Delicious! We ordered dinner to go as we had just finished laundry across the shopping center and we were ready to head home. The counter service was great and the order was ready in the promised 30 minutes. I had the Chicken Saltimbocca and it was more than I could eat in one sitting! (Bonus lunch!) Stopped fir dinner tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Great place with a nice comfortable atmosphere and cleanliness. Our server Arianna was very pleasant and efficient- kept checking on us and got everything right! Husband had pork medallions in a brown sugar glaze and mashed potatoes and it was moist and delicious. That was a nice different dish than the norm. I had eggplant and that too was delicious. The warm bread and flavored oil was yummy. The dinner portions are generous so we both took home a box. I was glad to get a good coffee too, not the usual weak stuff! Driving through Middletown with no real destination, I stumbled upon a small sign at the top of Randolph Road, pointing me toward Vero Cucino Rustica. With no plans to stop, I made a mental note to check the Yelp reviews when I got home. I walked through the door a day later, to pick up an Italian Chef Salad and a Meat Supreme pie. The restaurant has been completely transformed into a beautiful and modern establishment. A definite upgrade from Roberto's, the former tenant. The restaurant is setup with a pickup area and a sit down dining room. Both areas were bustling when my son and I showed up for our order. The employees were all friendly and smiling, even though it was the rush dinner hour. When the owner noticed my son, he politely asked if he could take care of something very important. Not being in a rush, I told him that it was fine. He went into the dining area and returned with a bucket. He called my son over and asked him to pick something from the bucket. My son found a small dinosaur and thanked the man for his gift. My son was so happy with this dinosaur, that he didn't put it down for the rest of the night. Our salad was large enough to feed 2 adults, with some leftover. The fresh romaine was topped with salami, crispy pancetta, black olives, tomatoes, mozzarella and provolone. Normally, I would avoid croutons, but I could not pass on these large, crunchy and herby homemade cubes of bread. The pizza was outstanding. The crust was perfect. It wasn't too thin or too thick. I would say that it's closer to a New Haven style. The sauce was robust and not too sweet. My only complaint, and it's not really a bad thing, but there were too many toppings. Trying to pick up the pizza became a fun challenge, not to lose the toppings. I cannot wait to go back. read more

We decided to try this place through grub hub. The hot wings were like leather and not edible. Way over cooked. In the trash they went. Could have choked or broken a tooth they were so hard. The house salad was the strangest combo of flavors I have ever had. Cinnamon flavored pecans with olives and tomatoes. That combo does not belong together. Generally, you would combine pecans with a salad that has fruit in it. It was awful. The pizza was just ok. Upset, I spent my money on such a disappointing meal. My friend and I went out to lunch during the week and decided to try Vero because we were in the area. We were both surprised that there was no lunch menu, but we each got something light and ordered salads. I got the roasted beet, spinach and feta salad and it was a bit more than I would normally spend on a salad ($12.99), the portion size really was huge. The beets were sliced in thin ribbons and there was a good amount of cheese, which made me really happy. I'm not usually a fan of mustard dressings, but theirs was very tasty. My only complaint (besides the price) was that the cheese was a little salty. That being said, the greens were really fresh and they were generous with the toppings. The place itself has sort of an odd layout, but the decor is nice and there is outdoor seating for those who may be interested. We dined at Vero a few days before Christmas. As soon as we walked in the door, there were red flags. The overly-loud waitress who seated and served us let us know that they were overwhelmed, despite only half the tables being occupied. Turns out that there was a large Christmas party in another room, and staffing of both kitchen and servers was inadequate. Food took forever to arrive, and then, one of us was served, and the other went unserved for a good 7 minutes. The food was pretty good, however. If we choose Vero again, we'll call first to see if there is another large party that will overtax the staff. read more

Had an early birthday lunch today. This was my first time at the restaurant. The service was very leisurely, the menu was interesting but the several flies that kept invading our table were really bothersome. The stuffed figs wrapped in prosciutto were overdone and the cheese was not a good combination. I had the appetizer version of the Mussels Marinara and they were plentiful, fresh and very tasty. Ordered a side Garlic Knots which, also, was a little too done. The dessert order of Zepolle was enough to feed the dining room. These also suffered from being cooked a little too long but the dipping sauce of Nutella was great. All in all, a spotty meal that took far too long to get to the table and this seemed par for the course for the entire dining room. read more

This place was the only Italian restaurant open for lunch on Saturday in the Middletown area. Family had flown on to honor our aunt who passed and 8 of us met at her gravesite. It was hot and we wanted to get to visit like a family and none of our homes are close by. I called and asked the owner if he could accommodate a party of 8 in 20 minutes. He gave us the private back room. When I walked in I wasn't sure to go left towards the tables or right towards these perfect loaves of crisp Italian bread. I was mesmerized and made arachnid family member go in and check out the bread. If the bread is good the dinner follows. We tried Noni's homemade soup. Very old world flavor. The veggie pizza was perfect. The arancini appetizer was served with marinara which made it that much more delectable. My cousins always orders chicken parmigiana at a new Italian restaurant. The dinner could have been a family style portion and was delicious. The meatball sub came on 3 pieces on the satisfying bread. You could easily feed 4 people one sub. The martinis were chilled and perfect. The owner and wait staff were friendly and attentive. There are many wonderful places to eat in Middletown. But now I will drive a little farther down the highway to Vera Cucina Restaurant and feel like I am home. Parking lot is a plus as Middletown street parking is a scramble. read more

All I can say is wow. This was the worst meal I've had in years. We waited an hour and a half for a pizza that was promised to be delivered in 45 minutes per their website. I was readily willing to overlook that, however, if the meal was good. Unfortunately, the first thing I noticed was that the pizza was cold. I was still optimistic until I took a bite out of it and the only thing I can think of is maybe the chef forgot to put spices and salt in sauce because it was the most bland sauce I've ever had in my entire life. It pretty much tasted just like someone had poured tomato sauce out of a can and didn't add anything to it at al. For the first time in my 50 years I actually put salt on my pizza. When that didn't liven things up I added pepper, basil, parsley and parmesan cheese on my slice of cheese pizza just to make it edible. Even then I could only eat one piece. I changed my focus to the cannoli that I ordered hoping there might be some salvation of this meal. But the cannoli was no better than the pizza was. I knew as soon as I looked at it and saw the grainy texture that it was definitely not going to be as good as I was used to getting, but zi didnt give up hope...until the first bite even though the brown color of the filling told me that they mixed cinnamon right into the ricotta. All of that could have been overlooked if the cannoli just tasted good and had the slightest bit of creaminess to it but it absolutely did not....it was grainy and wet. That was a waste of $33 and now I'm wondering what I'm going to have for dinner. So very disappointed. read more

So we went here last night for our Ladies Night! It was our first time ever dining here. I had previously made a reservation but could have done without one as it wasn't very busy. We were greeted by a very pleasant waitress, I believe her name was Pam. (forgive me if that's incorrect! I'm so bad with names.) She turned out to be the person that waited on us for the night along with another very kind and pleasant lady.( Again I cannot remember her name, Sorry!) They were great with us! My niece couldn't figure out what she wanted to eat or drink, they never rushed her, but were very patient with her. The food was delicious!! I ordered the Fried calamari...which was Great and the Lobster Ravioli.......Yummy!! Thank you for the pleasant & kind service and the food!! A lovely surprise to find they have a beautiful covered outdoor seating. I ordered takeout panini sandwich which was large and apparently they make them fresh to order, too. They have GOAT CHEESE as a sandwich option. When I arrived and saw the covered outside seating I chose to eat there. My server Shannon was very accommodating and she kept my iced tea glass full. Their iced tea is unsweetened (yes!) and fountain drinks include refills. The prices are slightly high. $13 for a sandwich seems a bit pricey for the area and it isn't a super large amount of food. The sandwich was very fresh, however, and will come again for the lovely seating (when the guy two doors down isn't smoking outside and giving you second hand smoke). I'd like to try more of their menu but the prices will make me a once in a while customer instead of a regular. read more

Sadly, the pizza here was a letdown. I love me a good thin crust, but this was so thin that you couldn't hold a slice in one hand. Additionally, it was overly greasy. I know what you're thinking - we ordered pepperoni - but, still, it felt like we were eating spoonfuls of oils in each bite. The taste was good. Can't complain about that. One of the worst meals I've ever had. I hate to write a negative review, but, I was so very disappointed. After 10 months of cancer treatments, we decided to drive down to Goodspeed Opera House for an afternoon of joy and celebrate our 47th wedding Anniversary. A friend recommended this restaurant to stop at on our way back to the Springfield area. We were skeptical as it's in a strip mall, but we overlooked that. Should have turned around when we were seated at a table for 2, as we were 4 feet apart and I couldn't carry on a conversation with my husband because it was so noisy! I've been looking forward to eating some fish, since my taste buds are finally returning. Waitress delivered my $10 glass (small) of white wine and let us know that our meals were ready and due out shortly. My husband ordered a small pepperoni pizza, it was delivered and placed alongside our table. After about 10-15 minutes I inquired about my Stuffed Sole. It arrived, so darkened and dry, accompanied by two slices of burned lemon. The broccoli I ordered was replaced by green beans and the garlic mashed potatoes were dry and gluey. I took one small bite of everything and we packed up the remainder.... May end up in the trash tomorrow cuz it still look's unappetizing . I also want to note that the "bread" was just pizza dough, rolled up and sliced to resemble bread... YUCK! We'll have to do a better job researching our restaurants on our next excursion to the fabulous playhouse. It won't be this one, for sure! (The pizza was just fair, too) read more

Loved everything we ate here! Bread is delicious. bloody Mary's were awesome with the new york strip and Chicken Pesto Panni was to die for. The clam casino were unbelievable! 2 chicken parm dinners were amazing. This is farm to table. Fresh grass fed beef. Nothing is frozen. We are business owners as well and I am happy to pay MORE for quality food. So people who are complaining about the price, go someplace for frozen low quality food. Who cares if the salad is more costly here then someplace else? We will keep coming here to support the business owner and the food is delicious and high quality. Also, this is not a fake review. We are locals and love good food, so decided to try this food for the first time this weekend. We have also been supporting every restaurant we can during this pandemic and the people here were nice, prompt when I arrived to pick up and carefully checked the order. We also want to thank the staff for being open and welcoming in these troubled times. If only the food were as welcoming............ Our daughter's excitement over her meatball grinder ended as soon as she couldn't bite through the bread. Sauce was lacking. Meatballs were more filler and less meat. Her chicken Caesar was .....fine. I ordered the Tuscan salmon special and asked for a side of Parmesan risotto. My meal came drowning in bland cream sauce and tasteless risotto with a surprise addition of tasteless squash. The tomato in the entree description either drowned at sea or was not included, and while my salmon was cooked, the top edges were dry and dark red - it seemed precooked and microwaved. Nobody chose the meal for me; my selection is on me, but ....... My husband got the 20 ounce strip. He loves risotto so we substituted that. BIG mistake. His steak came buried in the same lake of risotto ....and peppers galore. I don't believe peppers were listed in the description of any item in his order and he hates peppers. Not sure how those got in there, but we sure we were disappointed. He hopefully dug for his steak just the same. It was hard to find since there was no evidence of grill marks or searing on the leathery meat, and it was kind of a sad gray. We guessed our mid rare order was mid well, but nobody could chew it so he kind of gave up and started roaming the cabinets .......... Dessert was good. Wow. I've been in CT most of my and have eaten at tons of Italian restaurants, often disappointed in how many places miss the ball on simple sauces. Vero by far has the best red sauce I've had in a long time, up their with my grandfather's (who was also from southern Italy). We have gone to Vero a number of times over the years. But most recently we have gone more often. We seem to always get the same surly waitress. But the food is so good that we have ignored her bad manners. My sons took me for my birthday back in January. I asked if I could have my pasta on the side. She said it would come dry (no sauce). If I wanted sauce it would be an extra $3.00. This is an Italian restaurant. I said fine. She did not charge me in the end. I went back with my husband. Same surly waitress . The food again was delicious. Her attitude was the same. But we got through it. Tonight I went with my sons to hear some music and have some appetizers and pizza. Again the food was delicious. The same waitress was also the same . She seemed to get better throughout the night. But at the end I was looking at the check. She came over to get my card. She grabbed the receipt out of my hand. I wasn't ready to pay but I handed over my card since she already had the receipt she had taken from me. She came back and evidently realized she was out of line. She offered an explanation that she couldn't hear because of the music. Lame attempt at an apology when she grabbed the receipt out of my hand. And Han to reach across the table since I was at the far end of the table. My oldest son wanted to leave no tip. And he will not go back after her disrespectful and just plain nasty behavior.
