First time I tried this place because of the safety reviews on FMGF. Firstly, the taste was amazing! Rich and buttery Alfredo Spinach pizza, secondly, the crust was flaky and tasty, but the reason for the removal of a star from the rating, was the crust was extremely hard! I couldn't bite the pizza, because of dental work, but I couldn't even cut it with a knife. I broke it into small pieces. Don't get me wrong, it had a great flavor, but the crust was just a bit hard to chew and impossible to bite. Trying to find a good pizza place. I'm a New Yorker who loves pizza and haven't found one that's great yet....but now I have. We ordered the spinach Alfredo w half mushrooms. It was really good. The crust was crunchy and good sauce was great. We also ordered the monster Stromboli and it had lots of meat (meatballs bacon ham and pepperoni) how could you go wrong. Well it was greasy goodness. Sauce is chunky spicy oniony and good. A bit of a kick. They have lots of options the only one is their hours. They're very limited. I can understand since Covid and no one wanting to work it's hard to get help. This family does this business through adversity. It's a small shop that's only doing take out currently but maybe once season comes their expand that. There location on 41 is a hidden gem behind the Chevy dealer. The strip malls getting a new look and hopefully it will make them more visible. When you walk in your hit w Italian sauce w lots of garlic cooking just like in Italy. This was a pleasant surprise! This unassuming restaurant is in a shopping plaza. The largest table seats 6 people and most others seat two. There are a few 4 tops. We were very impressed with the gluten free menu and gorged ourselves on food that normal I couldn't eat. They have gluten free mozzarella sticks, toasted ravioli, egg plant Parmesan and much much more. The salad dressing are all gluten free. They even have gluten free cupcakes, brownies and cookies. TAKE-OUT ALERT!! In reality, I would probably give this place 3.5 stars but I'm going to round up because we love take-out pizza from Vertoris!! It's a to-go place in Bradenton that has a few dine-in tables but we always order it through Doordash. They have the most fantastic selection of toppings and their crust is a perfect crispy, buttery exterior with a soft interior. Tonight we decided to get fried chicken, eggplant, spinach, broccoli, garlic and feta (told you feta makes everything betta lol). We also decided to order a couple pasta dishes tonight as well and weren't a huge fan. The penne in the Chicken Florentine was very overcooked and the Chicken Parm was very reminiscent of something you could get at a 24 hour family diners. The flavors weren't horrible, but I think we'll just stick to the pizzas and desserts from now on (the Zeppolis we're my son's favorite!!). What I will say is they do have an extensive Gluten Free menu from appetizers to entrees, pizzas, sandwiches and desserts. Although I'm not GF, I did order a GF Cupcake Cupcake of the Day which happened to be chocolate on chocolate...it was good and moist and now makes me curious to try some of the other GF offerings. A little Italian spot in a plaza along 14th Street. Zaney Stromboli's seem to be their specialty, so naturally I partook. I almost immediately regretted ordering a large Redneck Stomboli. The taste was quite good, but when Vertoris says large, they mean it! I was able to eat about half with a mildly Herculean effort. The rest was taken back home to the fridge never to be seen or heard from again. Vertoris offers a little something for every diet including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free in a very laid back atmosphere. Perhaps a little too laid back. The gentleman at the front counter seemed very affable, but I could tell that his personality and the atmosphere of the shop was not palatable for every guest. As I said, things are pretty informal here, which led some patrons to confusion as to the seating arrangement, as well as confusion in the ordering and payment process. To help clarify, this is a seat yourself kind of place and they will get out to you and take your order and your check. However, if you're in a hurry it's probably best to come right up to the counter and get it done. Additionally, our host had a very "I laugh at you, you laugh at me, and we all laugh together" sort of attitude. He was quick to share a lot about his personal life. We had carryout from this place the other day and were pretty impressed! The reason we stopped in was because they offered a vegan menu. We ordered the Margherita pizza with the 9 grain crust and the eggplant appetizer. The sauces were very fresh tasting and nicely spiced. The pizza crust was also unusually good. The eggplant appetizer was a bit pricey, but also tasty. Overall, I liked the place a lot. I'd just like to see even healthier options and perhaps a few more vegan additions, but really that's just nitpicking. We were very pleased and will be back! P. S. This find had me super excited after eating lots of salads (being a veggie and GF is difficult in FL)! The cheese crust pizza was AMAZING! Not like the typical frozen/reheat you get most places. These guys know their GF and it was amazing to hear them get excited about "trying new recipes"! Their mozz sticks were fabulous and my non- GF friend was hooked. This business has changed hands - the pizza used to be good, but its very plain and boring. The crust isn't tasty, and the toppings look like they've been cut with a chainsaw. The owner/server is super glum, and is just a pill to deal with after a long day. The worst part is it IS expensive and the restaurant itself smells like old grease - it smells soooo badly - everytime I leave, my clothes reek of oil/fry grease. Not appealing. All the vegan and gluten free choices were cooked up by the old owners, and the new people are keeping it going, which is great - it just isn't as welcoming or clean as it used to be. At first I was afraid that the quality would drop when the business was sold to its current owners. Was I wrong! Last night four of us enjoyed: pepperoni pizza, gluten-free ricotta stuffed shells, shrimp po'boy, and a chicken Parmesan sandwich. Everyone gave a big thumbs-up. WOW! Let me first say that we walked in to this place excited because we had heard they made gluten-free pizza... We have tried maaany different gluten-free products and usually end up making it ourselves to save money and attempt to make it taste like real food. Vertori's not only tasted good for being gluten-free, it just plain tasted good!! Really great crust, cheese, sauce! Mmm! My husband also had the fish and chips (which was a real treat because we've never seen any other place with it GF!) and they were also excellent. Last but not least, we had a GF beer that was supurb- Estrella. It tasted more like regular beer than any one we had tried. So the moral of the story is, GREAT food, reasonable prices considering how expensive it is for the ingredients and to keep a GF kitchen, and friendly, family owned business. The first time I was visiting there I was very excited to try the pizza and pastas they have. The interior is beautiful and the staff is VERY friendly and it is nice that they offer dishes that are Gluten-free. I tried some of the pizza and the pasta. Sadly I was hoping for more but the pizza looked very flat and they forgot the mushrooms I ordered BUT a least it did not taste like cardboard. I also ordered stuffed shells which has 3 in 1 order and looking at the price I was hoping for more and and bit larger too. Oh well. This place is awesome! My family and I are from New York and can be critical of pizzas at times, but Vertoris Pizza House did such a great job that I had to talk about my good experience. Ordered a white pizza and added spinach and tomatoes, and omg. SO. DELISH. Not disgustingly greasy whatsoever, just the right amount of garlic, and cheese etc. the crust was perfect, it had a great bite and overall was super light, not like shoe leather like some places around here, and it wasn't soggy! We have had several pizzas and all are delicious. If you love meat get the Butcher pizza. It is loaded with different kinds of meat. We have had the veggie, the chicken, and last night we got the Rustica. Might be our favorite. Their salads are beautiful. We have gotten the Greek, Caesar and the Vertoris. As someone who has been Gluten- Free for 8 years this is the first time I have been able to walk into a shop and order GF food that taste like real Italian food.
