I'm only giving this place a 3 Star review as I wasn't entirely thrilled with the entire dining experience. My appetizer was NE Clam Chowder that was not very good. It lacked overall flavor of a good chowder. All I tasted was bay leaf and celery. If it was seasoned properly it could have been good as it appeared to be homemade. Clams were tender but I sent it back as I will not fill up on a rich based soup with no flavor. Dinner was Stuffed sole with Rice. Rice was instant and a total turn off. The sole was moist but again lacked flavor or seasoning in stuffing. The dessert was a wild berry tart with vanilla geletto which WAS very good. House wine ehh not a fan. Overall if the owner values feedback I'd say revisit the chefs choice of flavoring food and upgrade you table/house wine. My family owned a successful restaurant for forty years and constructive criticism is at times needed. read more

Vespucci's is one of the better local pizzeria/italian places around Cheshire, but it's not new york, its not new haven, its not chicago - it's just some pretty good pizza.. i have also had their ravioli and it was not bad. read more

I don't like their sauce. It is orange and tastes canned. Seeing that the sauce is on most of their offerings, I don't like their offerings that much. It is a very nice restaurant; a better dining experience than Rossini's or Mr. B's. The pizza is not as good as Rossini's or even Grand Apizza, but acceptable. Again I come back to the sauce. The crust and toppings are fine, but that awful sauce is still there. My mother makes the best sauce in the world (not biased at all of course) so I am quite picky. I want to like this place as a more upscale Italian restaurant in Cheshire, but just don't. If you are in Cheshire for just one night, I recommend Rossini's. read more

Really good pizza in Cheshire and other Italian food. Not many restaurants in town and this one gets the job done when I need an Italian fix. I really like the penne vodka which is an off menu item they made for me. It's also very reasonably priced and you get good portion sizes for what you pay. Great word of mouth advertising on this place and it definitely has it's regulars. Went with family from Cheshire area and we were pleasantly surprised. While there was nothing to complain about, there was nothing to rave about either. Had the linguine with clams. Was a mix of canned clams and fresh ones for appearance. I had a horrible dinner. It took over 2 hours to get my our food. The waitress didn't update on anything. My girlfriend ordered a drink and they ran out of what they ordered so they made something else and mixed 3 drinks and didn't even tell her and when she tasted it, it was terrible and we asked the waitress about it and then she told us they ran out of what she ordered instead of doing that a head of time. the food was not that great. The waitress took off the cheapest meal to compensate which was not fair. We watched 4 families walk in order and get there food and leave before we got our salads. There are very few restaurants in Cheshire, so there's not a lot of competition. However, Vespucci's does a satisfactory job of serving decent food and having a nice atmosphere. I usually get take out from here, because I love so close by I can walk to it. Their menu is traditional Italian, with some modern twists. My favorite dishes are the lasagna and the goat cheese salad. They're large enough for two meals, so it's perfect for lunch the next day. There are far better restaurants, but this place wins in convenience. read more

I have heard good things about this restaurant, but I will tell you that I must have gone on an off night. We started off with the bread which was delicious with the olive oil dipping sauce. I loved that they used sliced garlic and green peppers. It was truly amazing. After that though it was all downhill. We decided to order an appetizer so we got calamari. It was OK but by no means something that I would go back for. I feel like it was precooked and frozen rather than fresh. Then I had a salad which was soaked with Cesar dressing. I like Cesar, but at some point there is a concept of to much. They definitely hit the mark. For the main course I decided on the baked raviolis, which again tasted like they were bought them from the local grocery store frozen. I do not know if they make anything fresh, but if it didn't taste like chef bouradee made it that would be awesome. As for the decor of the restaurant I really liked the setup of nearly all booths over tables and chairs. The waitress really wasn't that friendly either. The place was empty and it seemed like all she wanted to do was to get us to pay so she could have her tip. Not very friendly and inviting. We have been regulars for years (dinner, twice a month, the occasional lunch and takeout). Consistency has been dependable; however, not this past Saturday evening. The Butter Bib Lettuce salad was drowned in dressing and had a different taste, according to my wife. The Chicken Siciliano, which we have ordered over a dozen times, was made in completely different manner, using a different sauce (brown as opposed to oil) and even platted differently. Our waitress was also surprised. I asked if the kitchen staff had changed, it being a holiday weekend; I was told "no". Something is clearly wrong. read more

My family and I went for an early dinner for the first time. We arrived and were only ones in the place. Bread was good with delicious oil and seasoning. Service was friendly but a bit slow for being the only table in the place. I had the chicken Vespucci . It was ok . Lacked flavor in the sauce . The stuffing had shrimp , roast peppers and spinach. Vespucci's is a great spot for affordable, classic Italian food. I have eaten there many times, as well as ordered food platters for a party. I believe they do take out orders also. When you eat in they give you bread with a delicious spicy olive oil with fresh garlic slices, always a hit with my family. They have a wide range of options for dinner... pastas, seafood, beef, pizza, subs and such. Additionally they always have a few specials. My favorites are the Salmon Mediterranean and the Tortellini Napoletano. The portions are a nice size. Another plus is the reasonable wine prices. I would highly recommend Vespucci's! read more

Beware; stepdaughter order a creamed chicken meal for 12 (son's birthday). Came with the meal and bread - served and within an hour people started complaining about not feeling good. Me, I was sick - nauseous, bloated and dizzy. Drive home, went to bed, next day had the runs and you know how that feels (dinner went straight thru me - same color too)! Anyway she called and let them know - their answer, "cream is good until early May"..... Huh? Meal was last Tuesday in March! Just be wary of this place. read more

Terrible service. Came in and put our name in for a party of 4. Hostess told us it would be a 20 minute wait. Over the course of the next 15-20 minutes 3 other parties came in. All without reservations and all were promptly seated while we were still waiting. The first was a party of 2. Ok, that I can understand. The second was a party of 5. Then a party of 3. At that point we asked to speak with the manager. After waiting some more, the hostess came back out and said she could seat us. Remarkably, no other customers had left. So, apparently a table just happened to be open after we asked to speak with the manager. It's a real shame he service is that poor, because they do such a great job with the food here. read more

5 of us for lunch, had a reservation and were seated promptly.A few minutes later a basket warm crusty Italian bread with an olive oil dip and pats of butter were on the table. Ordered wine from a nice selection of by the glass and house wines. Each of us ordered a different dish from a well balanced menu and the days specials. Salads were a la cart.Each person said their meal was excellent. Our wait person was on point throughout our meal assisted by a bus person. Good sized portions. Total bill for 5 entrees. 4 salads, 6 glasses of wine, 2 espressos 1 cappuccino, 1 coffee and 3 Sambucos, including a 20% tip was $211.00, A fair price! read more

Waited 90 mins for food with two young kids. This place was recommended by a co-worker so after picking up kids from school we decided to try. When we got there at 6:15, we had a short wait. While waiting, we befriended a family of 6 in the waiting room. Chatted about the kids and we were called to our respective tables at the same time. At 7:30 not only were they served, but had eaten and packed up the remainder of their food and was leaving when they stopped by our table to say good bye. My party of three was still waiting to be served. I wanted to walk away but being new to the area, I was not sure where I could go without having to wait some more. I asked the waitress why our food was taking so long but she kept assuring us that it would be coming soon. I gave myself a drop dead time as 8pm. The kids were hungry and cranky and I was really pissed at the obviously nonchalant waitress and poor service. For crying out loud, why would pizza and pasta take this long. As we were getting up to leave at 8pm, our food finally came. I was too angry to eat. I gave my kids time to take a couple bites of food and we took the rest home. To be honest, my favorite part of eating here is the garlic infused olive oil and ciabatta bread they give you while you browse the menu. The huge hunks of garlic floating in the oil is awesome (just make sure your date is eating it too). I also order the same thing every time I go, the gnocchi, and its killer. While Cheshire does not have the most eclectic fare, they definitely know how to do Italian. The food at vespuccis is consistently amazing. Their dishes are pleasing to pallet and satisfying to the stomach. I have yet to taste something I didn't thoroughly enjoy from this place. From the soup to the steak to the pasta it's all delicious! And if you are looking for the best pizza in town look now further. Their crust is thin and crispy and the sauce, sweet and fresh. I have this place on speed dial when ever I'm craving a bacon and onion pizza! Whether you dine in or take out I would definitely recommend a visit to Vespuccis! read more

Vespucci is one of the best Italian restaurant I have been to. For the main course I had a lasagna with perfectly blended flavors. For dessert I had a delicious tiramisu which I devoured in seconds! I had to write my review again!!! It didn't show up... I came here with my family for high hopes as everyone I know brags about this place. Having entered inside it seemed friendly and calm. Our waitress was friendly and quiet. We order our meals and apps... The calamari was the nasty cheap kind.You can always tell with calamari, you can make it look nice and beautiful on a plate but once you bite into it if it taste like rubber yeah... Not good at all. Next was the goat cheese and pear salad another waitress brought it over and asked me if there was dressing on it like I would know if there was as if I worked there!!!! So I took a bite of it and there was barely any dressing on it so I asked for more.. She went in to the kitchen yelling can I get more dressing for table 3 there wasn't any dressing on the salad! So she brought it over I just had to mix it in my self! Then came our side salads which I was a little pissed about I didn't know your entree only came with salad I wanted a soup because I had the goat cheese salad.. But anyways she read the dressings off for the house salads and she didn't have any RANCH WHICH IS VERY COMMON IN EVERY RESTAURANT TO HAVE!!!! The side salads came over and I asked for blue cheese and she gave me creamy Italian.. At this point I didn't care I just wanted my meal!! The meals came over shortly our meals came to the table it looked delicious but tasted like cardboard. The vegetables were cold, the chicken parmigiana was tasteless which they don't make there.. I can tell it's not home made because it looked like something you would get from a Franchise the chicken florentine was dry and wasn't the real way chicken florentine is made in an egg batter not satueed chicken and last but not least I received a chicken bone in my chicken Vespucci!!! I could barely hear my family over the sound of a waitress vacuuming right next to me. I wonder what the other 3 tables were thinking about that... The owner must be a real jerk because for us to spend all that money and your kicking us out you must wanna go out of business.. I told my waitress about the bone in my chicken it was as if she didn't believe me I said it was okay but still should of did something about it I didn't want anything for free I just wanted a new one!! Vespucci's - The bone i found in my chicken!!! - Italian Near Me - Cheshire, Connecticut

Ordered Take Out, a dollar more or so than Sergio's up the street. This is Italian done dry/American style. Don't expect your broccoli rabe to be smothered in the juices it was cooked in, nope. Dry but good. Not a bad thing, it's a style. (Where are all my juices from cooking the rabe down and the sausage?, disappeared.) Not used to this "style". Chicken Francaise, same thing. Where is my lemon butter-white wine reduction this was cooked in?... Nope, gone. Dry. Although is a different take on it. Side Pasta with Sauce?... Not that great, maybe this is the sauce I should use to garnish my rabe and Chicken?... To me this is "All-American" Italian Food, if you like that sort of thing. No Juices. I like my Rabe smothered with a bit of the oils it was cooked in, I like my Chicken Francaise to be slightly floating on a top of a pool of white-wine and butter reduction. I think juices make the flavor, but flavor still exists with this, it's just done a different way. This is NOT the place to have a piece of bread to sop up the juices. There are none. read more

Mediocre Food ~ High Prices ~ TERRIBLE Service Had heard good things about Vespucci s. Arrived at 7PM on a Friday night. It was extremely busy. Waited approx 20 mins, but that was OK. When 7 of us were finally seated at a center round table, the atmosphere simply disappeared, as the dining room was a big empty room with absolutely no privacy. The waitress was rude & unfriendly. She did not give her name or ask us if we wished to start with appetizers. When she took our drink order, she turned around and walked away. The crab cakes were good, the calamari was frozen not fresh, extremely bland. When the waitress finally returned, we asked if it would be possible to do 3 separate checks. She gave us a nasty look and replied I write the orders on paper and will NOT provide separate checks . We gave her the benefit of the doubt, however, we don t understand why she could not write 3 separate checks. The main course was less than par, from the pizza to the lasagna and even pasta and meatballs were mediocre. The waitress NEVER checked on us to see if we needed or wanted anything or even to ask if the meals were OK. We had to get another waiter to get grated cheese & crushed red pepper AND water. When we were ready to leave, my grandmother asked for a to go container, to which the waitress sneered at her and said ALREADY???? She never offered us coffee or dessert menu. Needless to say, we will NOT be returning, ever....Bottom line...LOUSY food and LOUSY Service!!! Do NOT Recommend!!!! read more

Sad to say this is a place we visit often when in town. It's certainly not good for large groups. Nice gluten free options. Risotto is delicious. Cesar salad ok. Alfredo is extremely saucy. Service is terrible. Party of 6 waited 1 hr 40 minutes for entrees with no appetizers ordered. read more
