After two visits to our regular vet clinic, we still didn't have good answers what exactly was wrong with our dog. VEG was our high hope when we took him there later in the evening with worsening symptoms. Dr. Cody and his staff at the VEG were an absolute treasure, compassionate, caring people, who did not disappoint. They confidently gave us the diagnosis and sent us home with medication. I have a rabbit, and when I got her to VEG Anaheim the staff gave us a private room, a towel, hay, water, and greens so that my baby could calm down after the very stressful car ride. I trimmed a nail too short -- they got her little wound treated, checked the rest of her over, and even got the remaining nails trimmed for me. My guinea pig wasn't feeling himself. I first stopped by the local VCA but was directed here since not all vets can care for exotic/pocket pets. Dr.Yang and his crew greeted us immediately. Everyone was kind. They offered us complimentary drinks and snacks. Dr.Yang took the time to discuss plans, alternatives and was thoughtful. He explained findings so we could understand what was happening and possible outcomes. Unfortunately we decided the best course would be to make our pet comfortable and send him to heaven. They let us spend as much time to say goodbye in the comfort room. I wish I won't have to go to the emergency center again, but if I need an emergency after hours visit for my exotic pets, I'll make the drive again here for service. read more

I took my dog Dante to the location in Anaheim. Words cannot express how grateful I am to them for saving my dogs life. Sunday night, I had to take my sweet Caviler into the vet for a problem. It was late and I had called around but other places were super busy (must have been the full moon). We took our Shitzu to this emergency vet and they over dosed her with pain meds as well as they have young trainee vet techs that a trained or qualified to do anything. The on call Vet was too busy trying to sell services to attend to our pet and kept having the inexperienced tech do the work ups. We were sent home with our baby's and said she was fine that same early morning she stopped breathing and passed in my wife's arms. This was very devastating and emotionally painful as anyone who has ever experienced this type of loss! read more

Went here for the first time after hearing good recommendations. Our dog stepped on a bee (we think), and our regular vet was closed. This place was quick and helped us immediately. The staff was very friendly and attentive to ours and our dogs needs. The things I liked: this place is very different. You stay with your animal the whole time. I held her while they examined and treated her. She seemed more comfortable and not as nervous because I was there. Other emergency places they take your dog into the "back" and you don't really know what's going on. They were very friendly and seemed to enjoy taking care of my girl. The prices were about the same as the normal emergency we go to, maybe a little bit higher. I did fee like they didn't examine her paw well enough or under bright lighting to make sure nothing was in there. They used a cell phone light and while i held her. (I did that at home, and didn't see anything hence why I brought her in) The next day her paw was still the same in size so we made an appointment to see her regular dr. Her Dr examined her paw with magnifying glasses headset and a bright light while I held her. This is what I expected. They too didn't find anything which eased my mind more. Will I try this place again, yes. I feel it's a fine place to go in an emergency. Glad they are in the area, and we have another option for emergencies. read more

This was my first experience with an emergency veterinary hospital. The staff was very helpful The doctors were caring and patient. My elderly cat had to spend 2 1/2 days here to be stabilized on IV fluids. This was May 30 - June 2. Veterinary Emergency Group in Anaheim Hills helped my kitty to survive. My dog died here on 12/29/24 from large cell lymphoma. 1 day after his diagnosis at 18 months old, he died in my arms from euthanasia. The first f*cked up thing that happened was this idiot doctor gave us his diagnosis on 12/28, told us the grim outcomes, and because he was barking at people and rattling his cage she insisted we took him home even after explaining to us the he had an AGGRESSIVE FORM OF CANCER. So in simple terms "he's annoying me so take him home" is what she was telling us. The next thing that happened was they almost gave us DEWORMING MEDICINE instead of his medicine to treat the cancer symptoms because his meds got mixed up so he probably would've died sooner if I didn't point out that his meds didn't sound right(thank god I work in healthcare too right?) and lastly they didn't bother to help us find an oncologist that would have seen him right away because he was in desperate need of plasma. I called all of the options they gave us and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM told me they had no appointments and there was nothing they could do even though I was crying and begging for them to squeeze him in somewhere so he had a f*cking chance and at every single turn we were told NO. Of course VCA won't listen to a normal, hysterical woman crying and begging for help. So he died on 12/29/24, 2 days after my birthday, at 18 MONTHS OLD, 1 day after diagnosis. Every single one of these doctors you have employed needs to go back to school or needs better education somewhere because I guarantee you that we are not the only family that lost an 18 month old angel in such a cruel and horrific way. The only one who seemed to give a damn was Dr. Reid(the sweet red head with glasses). He was given no fighting chance, he died in pain, and I blame you. His name was Max and I hope his story will haunt you for the rest of your careers knowing you could have saved him if you were competent and prepared. I had to take my kitty in for urgent care. I called ahead and when I walked in they were expecting us and were ready with the vet and a team of nurses immediately to help her. The open concept of this clinic is amazing because you never have to leave your pet in the back room and wait in the waiting room. While she was in the oxygen chamber, they placed a chair right next to it so I was with my cat at all times. She needed x-rays and the results were on the vets computer five minutes later. There was also a consulting radiologist to give a more precise diagnosis. They were very transparent with prices and estimates, and were very open to accommodating my budget. My story has a sad ending, but during that time they could not have been more compassionate and caring while my kitty went through her end of life transition. There was a lovely room to sit in with her and the vet was very informative as to what would happen so I was prepared. I would one hundred percent recommend you take your pet for whatever reason to this pet clinic. The staff are absolutely wonderful. I just can't say enough good things about this place. read more

They saved our puppy's life. Our 9 month old baby girl, Frankie, was brought in Christmas Eve after vomiting for a couple days. Dr Colon got started right away, ordered X-rays, and it showed she had eaten her blanket. Unfortunately she was too unstable to go into surgery right away. They took the absolute best care of her, and us. They were compassionate and supportive. Frankie ended up having surgery on Christmas Day, in the afternoon, and Dr Rivera was in constant contact with us, letting us know how she was doing and what was going on. Then even the next day, she still needed to be hospitalized and Dr Ortiz was wonderful with us when we came to pick her up. Not once, when I asked a question did I get the feeling they thought it was a stupid question or annoyed with me for asking questions. Even when asking about the bill and different things. They sat down with me and explained everything in detail so we could understand. I can't thank everyone enough, especially the nursing staff Elle (cec), Drea and Nani. I don't think we would be having the same conversations if we had gone somewhere else. read more

I had to take my puppy Sienna P in and they were so good with her and making sure we were in the loop all the time. The care is excellent and wait was short. Elvis had cancer and went from "I feel fine, let's play another game of fetch" to "I'm not going to make it" in a 18 hour period. It was about midnight on 6/16 when I brought him in to say goodby. The change happened so fast that even though he had cancer, I wasn't ready to have to say good by so soon. The staff and the vet made what was literally one of the worst decisions that I've ever had to make the best possible under the circumstances. Even though there were some problems finding a vein they could use, they made sure Elvis was comfortable and completely unstressed during the process, and in the end he passed very peacefully. Two of the young ladies helped us with the problem and were so helpful with handling Cocoa. Holly and Kloey went beyond what was expected and were so sweet to help calm our fears and concerns. My favorite part about this Animal Hospital is that I can be with my pet the entire time. My cat was abruptly acting really weird and stopped eating. I took her into the Anaheim Hills location (super clean and new) and was greeted with compassion and respect by everyone right from the start. Dr. Veronica Villanueva treated my cat and rather than recommending a million different tests that would cost much more than necessary, she gave me realistic options to see if we could pinpoint what the issue was. I cannot say enough about VEG the doctors and the staff. I have had two visits there with my box turtle first who almost died after being stuck in a soccer net. He was promptly examined by Dr. Ortiz put in an oxygen box, x-rayed until they deemed him okay to go home. It has been 4 months and he is doing great. My second visit was with my white eyed conure Casper who was falling off his perch for a few days and getting worse. He was examined by Dr. Villanueva and I was told he was in heart failure. Dr. Villanueva told my options forward but he was 28 years old. The next day we returned with Casper and said our goodbyes and let him go. I cannot say enough about how compassionate and kind Dr. Villanueva and her staff were in getting us through this heartbreaking time. My beloved JoJo is dying, and we've decided to put him to sleep because we can feel his pain. Unfortunately, the vet we saw was very unprofessional. The vet said the needle was too thick but proceeded to inject 2/3 of the pink liquid into JoJo anyway. She then changed the needle and injected the remaining 1/3, but the syringe filled with blood. She continued to inject the blood back into JoJo, and he passed away immediately. I didn't say anything at the time because I wanted JoJo to leave in peace, but that doesn't mean I'm unaware of what happened. read more

Last month, we took our shepherd mix here in the middle of the night due to ongoing vomiting. I had called around local vet emergency hospitals in my area, but they were all booked and one of them referred us to VEG. I called VEG and right away without hesitation, they told me to bring in my dog. My dog is my baby and right away we were greeted at VEG and they made us feel at ease. My dog had numerous diagnostics and it was determined that he needed to stay overnight, the best part was that my family and I could stay with him and he did not have to stay alone. I was able to be present during the testing and diagnostics, the doctors and staff were very thorough in keeping us updated and well informed about everything. After about an almost 2 day stay and numerous tests it was determined what he had was terminal and unfortunately he had to be put to sleep. I truly feel that the staff did everything in their power that they could to help him. I would like to personally thank Dr. Ortiz, Dr. Dryfhout, vet techs Thelma and Briana who provided such exceptional care and empathy not only to my dog, but to my family during such a difficult time. I am forever grateful for the love and kindness they showed us while we were at VEG. All staff that we interacted with at VEG were so kind. I cannot recommend this place enough, this is a place where not only do they care about their patients, but their families as well. One of the best parts about this open concept hospital is that my mom and I were able to stay with our dog during his last few days on earth, for us that was absolutely priceless. Just got back from VEG Veterinary Emergency Hospital in Anaheim Hills for my cat Ziggie. He was very lethargic and wobbly from a sedation that was given to him today at 12:00 this afternoon. I can't express how grateful I am that this hospital is here! By the time we got there, Ziggie was feeling much better! ‍ His vitals were normal! When I was ready to leave, I was told there was no charge! What emergency veterinary hospital does that? They went above and beyond to make my stressful situation that much easier! We arrived around midnight with my dog hyper breathing. Vet found an enlarged liver but told me she could not perform an ultrasound of my dog's abdomen after the front desk told me they could when I called before leaving for the 40 minute drive to their hospital! Vet was rotating between 5 other patients at midnight. She assured me the shot she gave my dog would DECREASE his rapid breathing; instead, it made his breathing EXPONENTIALLY WORSE!!! I WAS TERRIFIED!! By 1:30 AM my sweet dog was still HYPER VENTILATING WORSE HE WAS BREATHING was still exponentially worse! IT WAS TERRIFYING TO WATCH!!! We waited and waited while the vet attended to other patients. I lost faith in the vet and decided to leave. However, my dog weighed over 95 pounds and he was extremely disoriented and had a hard time walking. On my own, without assistance from techs, I have a back disability. Yet, I had to assist/carry a 95 pound dog into my car, drive 40 minutes home, and then get my 95 pound drugged dog out of the car and into my home around 2 AM. My dog's condition worsened overnight such that he would not drink or eat the next morning. MORE TERROR! The hospital agreed the shot they gave to my dog made him sicker and agreed not to charge me the $200 for the shot! The next morning I was forced to put him down. That cost $800. It was the most agonizing, painful, and devastating days of my life. After my dog died, repeatedly I had to contact the office to get a copy of my dog's medical records. When I finally received a copy of his medical records, I learned the medical records had many errors! Bad enough that they failed to provide competent medical care to my sick dog, but worse, they lack skills to create accurate and correct medical records! I escalated my concerns to JOSEPH TERZADO. Joseph Terzado josephterzado@veg.vet. For weeks, Joseph told me the medical errors were corrected but the hospital kept refusing to send the corrected medical records (after they forced me to put my dog down and euthanize him the day after he visited this horrible hospital!!) For all this terror, harm, and the passing of my beloved dog, JOSEPH TERZADO refused to compensate me $1.00. DO NOT USE THIS HORRIFIC INCOMPETENT AND UNCARING HOSPITAL UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR DOG TO SUFFER IN PAIN! I tried to upload the terrifying video I have of my sweet beloved dog's RACING breathing!!!! Very disappointed in our experience at this place. Took our frenchie baby for an emergency C-Section last night and this place did X-rays and other exams to tell us she had a total of 4 pups that 3 were dead and 1 in distress and that most likely the pup wouldn't make it. They were charging a ridiculous amount for the procedure and they cared more about the money to be given upfront more than my dogs well being. They brought up putting my dog down for free which I find insane. Long story short we were sent home with meds and hopes of taking her to her original vet next day early morning and guess what puppies were alive and momma pushed through for even less than half the price and we paid AFTER the procedure. This place needs professionals that know what they are doing and URGENCY!! How do you give owners wrong information and no hope. I do not recommend! don't go here unless you want to be given wrong information. Deserves no stars but sadly that's not an option. read more

We took our 9 year old Lab here June 8th 2024. She was having stomach issues so we decided to go get her checked out and our regular Vet was booked solid. This place is very unique I have to say. Most all of it was wide open with exam tables in the center. You can see everything going on. I did notice a few private rooms so if you had a dire emergency they could be more private. Every single person who worked with our dog actually sat down on the floor to speak with us and comfort her. It was really cool they made us and the dog very comfortable. Again, there are exam tables but our dog is super nervous and they saw that. So they sprang into action right on the floor where she was more comfortable. Who does this anymore? This is an emergency facility so know this will not be a cheap visit. Hopefully we never have to go again because we never want an emergency pet situation. But if we did, 100% we'd return here. They don't recommend unnecessary testing and you can opt in or out if you choose. The staff and physicians are gentle, loving, caring, and supportive and treat your pet as your own.
