I have a black Pomeranian and he's an awful terror to work with. he squirms, screams, tries to bite and is overall, nasty. lol They were gentle and kind with him and never hurt him unlike others places I've been. Yesterday was a really hard day. We dropped off our dog for surgery at 7 AM, and he was finally discharged around 6 PM. On our way back home, we got stuck in terrible traffic. It was close to 8 PM, after sitting in traffic for a long time, when I suddenly noticed my dog crying intensely. I quickly pulled over and saw that his seat was soaked in blood. I panicked and started crying myself, I was terrified that his stitches had opened or something serious had happened. By pure luck, we were very close to Veterinary Emergency Group . I rushed him in, and I honestly can't thank the staff enough. Everyone there was incredibly kind, calm, and full of positive energy. Their warmth helped me breathe again during one of the most stressful moments I've ever experienced. Thankfully, the stitches were still intact. They carefully checked everything and re-bandaged the area with a larger, tighter, and more secure wrap. They were so patient and thorough. I know this isn't the kind of place where people scroll through reviews like they're picking a restaurant. Most of us come here in a rush, out of fear and panic, just searching for the nearest location, hoping for the best. I just want to start off by saying, I have been meaning to write this review for a little while but I have been grieving over the loss of my kittens which has been so hard. Please take the time to read this review as it will give you a clear visual on how truly amazing this place is. My ragdoll had a litter of 7 kittens, and I did everything possible to keep them healthy and alive. Unfortunately, on their 4th day of life, they started struggling to breathe, were very lethargic, gasping for air, and their health just declined so rapidly. I was desperately calling emergency vets at 1 am while this was happening because one by one it seemed as if they were just dropping. I called 10+ emergency vets and none wanted to help me or could provide me any information. Some even wanted to charge me $1500 per kitten. I could not afford that as much as I wanted to save them. Then I got referred to VEG ER in anaheim hills by another office. I spoke to Celia over the phone who provided me with so much comfort and immediately asked if I wanted to speak with the doctor. No other vet has offered me to the doctor before. This is a staple at their office. The doctor who picked up the phone was Dr.Reid, she was so calm, collected, comforting, reassuring, and genuine. She explained to me that she would happily take a look at the kittens and would do her best to figure out why this was happening without charging us unless they needed medical attention. I rushed them there at 1:30 am. Unfortunately by this time 3 kittens had passed on and all I wanted to do was see if there was any way to keep the others alive. We arrived and the staff was so kind, they instantly came to help us. Dr. Reid found out quickly that they were born premature and had undeveloped hearts where only half was working causing the gasps for air. Carolina was the nurse working with Dr. Reid at the time who also helped the kittens try to receive oxygen. She examined each kitten and out of the 7, one had a heart that was beating just fine. She also advised us that all the other vets trying to charge us insane amounts would have been pointless because there was no way to save these kittens. This kitten was the only one that came home with us that night, and the others Dr. Reid had put them down peacefully so they would not suffer. Celia was the sweetest person and talked to us almost the entire time we were there. She comforted my mom and I and they all reassured us that there was nothing more we could have done and we tried our best for them. I brought the last kitten I had back several times as it was very small and started refusing to eat and each time Dr.Reid helped it out. I would stay up to feed him every 2-3 hours and even called VEG at random hours of the night 3 am, 6 am, etc. Dr. Reid always picked up the phone and helped me no matter what it was. She did inform me that this kitten's chances of survival were really low and he also did pass on after his first week of life. But all in all I can't thank this place enough and the staff they have there. I have never felt so comforted in a time like this. At VEG, they don't just handle the basics, they're dealt with all kinds of crazy situations but they stay so strong and try their absolute hardest 24 hours of the day. These kinds of people aren't just there for the money, they truly love their jobs, they have a passion for helping animals, and they are so close knit. Dr. Reid is truly inspiring, she is so brilliant, caring, compassionate, and she has such a huge heart. I can only write so much in this review but if you ever have a sick pet in need or in critical condition God forbid, please come here and experience it for yourself. They even let you stay with your pets overnight, offer snacks/ coffee, and offer constant monitoring. You will never meet kinder staff anywhere else especially in the middle of the night. Waited a week to write this, but huge shoutout to the amazing team here. My 10 year old family dog was showing signs of illness while I was on a trip in Japan. When we got home, we rushed him straight to this emergency room to get treatment. The emergency room felt warm with team members, who you could tell, truly care about what they do. They put our dog on intensive care and placed him in an oxygen cubbie. We got to sit there with him a for a few hours, and they even pulled over a couch so we can be close to him. The staff here is incredible sweet and helpful and we knew they wanted the best for our dog just like we did. We got to give our dog some head scratchies before heading home and saying goodbye to him. It seems that our dog wanted to say bye one last time before he left because he ended up passing about 2 hours after left. One night, our cat, named Sebastian, suddenly stopped eating, and since our regular vet was closed for the holiday break, we reached out to VEG. From the moment we arrived, it was clear the facility was clean and well-organized. Dr. Reed stayed with us throughout the process, carefully diagnosing our cat's condition. We got to see the ultrasound and X-rays, which made everything clear. Sadly, our cat, who was already elderly, was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. Dr. Reed and the team were incredibly understanding, offering both emotional support and practical guidance during this difficult time. They provided pain medication for our cat to help him eat but were honest in letting us know that euthanasia would likely be necessary soon. About a week later, when our cat stopped eating altogether and began hiding, we knew it was time. Because of the care and respect they had shown us, we returned to VEG for the euthanasia. The staff was thoughtful, compassionate, and allowed us to proceed at our own pace. They sent us a heartfelt card afterward, along with a paw print keepsake. I would just like to start off this review by thanking the amazing staff here at Veterinary Emergency Group for the quality care and support that was provided for our dog, Oreo. Oreo got into a container of Icebreaker gum which contains Xylitol and for those of you who maybe don't know, it's a very dangerous thing for our fur babies to ingest as it can cause liver damage and blood sugar dropping to a point where it can be potentially fatal... and Oreo just so happened to ingest 3x the amount that would be toxic and did not have a very promising outlook... We rushed on over to VEG since they are one of the few 24/7 emergency clinics nearby. We had called ahead to give the staff a heads up of our situation and when we arrived they greeted us and walked us through the steps of reporting to the poison control center for animals. The receptionist, Holly, was super helpful and just an overall calming presence while I was in the middle of my internal freak out and helped me to feel more at ease. The nurse/vet tech staff were all super friendly and despite it being so late at night they were able to swiftly exam Oreo and get him set up to start the treatment process. Dalton, our main night time vet tech took the time to explain the different steps in the treatment plan and also would let me know what it was he was doing as he was conducting Oreo's initial vitals check which helped me to relax a bit as he mentioned that Oreo's initial vitals seemed to be within normal range, but would need to be monitored for the next 48 hours while receiving treatment to help counteract the Xylitol. Now onto the staff... Oreo normally does not like males, but Dalton was one of the few exceptions... especially when he gave Oreo a little extra lunch LOL. Oreo is also a little skittish around new people, but all the staff went above and beyond to make him comfortable (even giving him a little room for our overnight stay and let him stay on the couch) Shout out to the army of staff, Jamie, Nani, Jazmin, Mimi, and Kloey (sorry if I'm missing a couple... there were just so many helpful staff) who helped check in on Oreo and gave extra care and attention. I would also like to thank Dr. Ortiz for helping to reassure us and keeping us updated after each vital check/tests so that we knew that Oreo was on the right track to recovery instead of anxiously waiting to see if he would make it or not. We ended up staying for about 48 hrs at the clinic before they gave us the okay that Oreo was able to be discharged and go home. I personally love the fact that they gave us the option to stay with Oreo throughout the stay and we were able to be next to him as he got his tests and treatment done. They even have little snacks and drinks prepared for us to munch on while we wait for updates. It's definitely scary to think that this whole situation could've gone differently had we not caught it in time and rushed Oreo over when we did... and I will forever be grateful to the staff at VEG for helping to treat Oreo and providing quality care despite handling several emergencies at once. Side note, the staff here are incredible.. in the short time that I was there, I saw a variety of animals (not just dogs and cats) come in to get treatment and the staff treated all of the patients with the same amount of care and attention that a pet parent would give (if we were medically trained lol) and treated everyone like family. So if you're experiencing a pet emergency and don't know where to go, look no further than with VEG as their staff will definitely take good care of you and your pet. read more

We have a new Iggy puppy, she was playing in the backyard last night and came inside and suddenly one side of her face and mouth was very swollen. My husband was able to get my puppy seen without an appointment immediately! The doctor was knowledgeable and professional. He gave her medicines for an allergic reaction to an insect bite. She came home and slept with me, and the swelling was gone by morning. I am thrilled with the fast and easy service. Plus, my receipt and medical notes were emailed to me and our normal vet. I brought my Guinea pig (Nimbus) to VEG because his eye looked really bad. The staff there were really caring and put him into a special incubator to keep him warm and gave him hay and water. Several staff members worked with me to make his stay affordable and they helped me to find a clinic to do his eye surgery asap despite Christmas being tomorrow (they could have done the surgery there, but it would have been really expensive and the staff said he'd be okay for another day). The staff updated me on his status and explained everything to me. Nimbus was in good hands. Edit: Nimbus's surgery was performed today by Dr. Yang at VEG as they changed the estimated price to be more affordable (originally doing his surgery at a clinic tomorrow was going to be significantly less expensive). I am very grateful so that Nimbus doesn't have to suffer a day longer. Dr. Yang did a fantastic job with the enucleation and gave me pain medication for Nimbus's home care. WORST PLACE EVER! When I say that they over charge, oh boy they SUPER over charge! Not only that, but the way I witnessed Doctor Ortiz operate was something else. Maybe instead of being all hopped up on something like that snowflake and not sitting down and looking over everything when it comes to charges with the individual being their pet in. It would not result in a bad review written because when pet owners come in all nervous and scared about their pet. It's BEST TO SIT with that pet owner and go over what's being in charged and why. For instance, my dog never received iv electrolytes, AND Doc Ortiz drugged my pet up so badly that I almost had to bring her back so they could "reverse the effect" of the drug given. I took in my sweet Baylee Shay Tuesday morning due to a cough and heavy breathing. They told me they would be ready for her when I got there. As soon as we walked in they took priority in making sure she was comfortable. It was a little overwhelming but, they walked me through everything they were doing. Unfortunately my best friend of 14 years was having heart failure. After monitoring her for about 45 minutes my girl just wasn't getting any better and I had to say goodbye. They set us up in a room to be alone with her and say our goodbyes. Everyone here communicated with me very well and left out no details, Holly was very sweet and knew Baylee meant the world to me and promised while I was gone she'd be in good hands, if I had any questions after I left she told me not to hesitate and call. Brought in our bunny Alfie after he wasn't eating or pooping for 2 days. I called here after cold calling every vet on Yelp, and the excellent customer service care started from the receptionist on the phone who knew right away that I was worried about GI stasis. Upon arrival we were escorted to a personal bench seat where they brought a covered box, hay, and fresh greens for Alfie to enjoy. All the staff were professional, kind, and collaborative. I could also tell that they enjoyed their jobs and loved animals. It was a bit of a drive for us to get here but so worth it, and I'm glad that we know this place is here in case things ever happen again (god forbid).
