I just really want to praise the night staff they have here. They kept our baby tortoise over night to give her oxygen on her second visit after the antibiotic treatment we gave her didn't work. They went out of their way to keep her comfortable on her last night with us. We did take her to one of the vets they recommended, but unfortunately 5 hours after bringing her home she passed. I really appreciate them going out of their way to help us do whatever we could to save her. They were so kind and gentle. They really made the whole experience much more tolerable. read more

Unfortunately, I had to take my precious Roxy to VEG as she went into sudden heart failure. The staff at VEG was amazing. They were thorough, explained every treatment and option and were gentle in their updates. After over 40hrs of their hard work abs treatment, I had to make the tough decision to put my baby to rest. She was showing no signs of improving, her lungs and heart were full of fluid and she was exhausted. VEG was once again amazing. They gave me the time I needed to say goodbye to my sweet girl. They did not rush me or belittle my sorrow (which I've experienced before at another vet). I can't speak enough to their compassion kindness and empathy. I would highly recommend them. No dark corners with little cries for attention Animals were comfortable, even the little guys recovering from surgery. Drs. Wow. VEG is full of angelic humans. Sadly, I've needed to go twice with my little girl kitty Nyxie Jo in this last week. Each time we were met with absolute kindness, compassion, care and excellent communication. Today she had an ultrasound with Dr Okine and I was just blown away by how loving, encouraging and present she was with Nyxie and I. My first visit to Veterinary Emergency Care was in 2021 for a wild lizard who became stuck to box tape in my garage and was weak/dehydrated, requiring emergency care. Lindsey Museum recommended I bring the lizard to this clinic for over night treatment, then they would pick it up in the morning to remove the tape and continue care. Upon entering Veterinary Emergency Care, I was impressed by the friendly staff, attentive care, and genuine sincerity for this little lizards well being. Their clinic is spacious, with numerous veterinarian staff inside to care for the various pets in need. About one week later, Lindsey Museum shared a video showing the successful release of the rescued lizard. As a reptile lover, it was wonderful to know that Veterinary Emergency Care would provide care for reptile emergencies and coordinate with Lindsey Museum while they were closed for rescue services. Tonight, my boy dog Ollie needed care because he could not stand up. Both Dr. Hyder and Vet Assistant Rachel took fantastic care of Ollie, showing gentleness with his multiple limb issues to help him remain calm and comfortable. They met me outside to help transport Ollie inside, provided a thorough assessment/diagnosis, provided several treatment options with recommendations for follow up needs based on symptoms of his progress or lack there of. I have been to some emergency vet clinics in Dublin where I felt it was all about up sales rather than listening to what we were actually requesting for our furry family member's needs. Dr. Hyder and Rachael were professional, incredibly friendly/energetic despite being late at night, listened, and provided a wonderful interaction with Ollie. The entire staff are the best and compassionate. I called late in the evening because my dog was having a seizure. As soon as we got there the staff rushed and took our dog. We had to come here tonight 1/20 because our cat was gone 2 days ago and came back injured from a possible cat or wild animal fight. Let's just say tonight at 10pm we did not look forward going to an emergency vet and having a sleepless night. Our Midnight (black cat) had a lot of scratches on his face, mucus in his eye which was swollen, and a chunk of his hair missing on his body. He was seen within 3 mins. He was taken care of so fast. They shaved his head, gave him eye drops to numb them, eye stain and then looked at his eyes under a UV light to check for eye scratches or debris. The doctor came right after, introduced herself and told us what they were going to send him home with. Pain meds, eye drops and antibiotics. After, we waited for his meds and then we had to pay. This was the fastest most professional service we ever had for our cats!! If you ever need an emergency vet/urgent care vet that cares a lot about the well-being of your pets and cares about the owners too, go here instead. They were able to take my dog right away. Then we waited about 20 minutes for a tech to take his vitals. Then we waited about 15 minutes to see the veterinarian. That's amazing for an emergency vet. The staff was very nice. The vet gave us an estimate for x-rays (for stomach pain) but gave us the option to wait and see. Since we knew we could come back and be seen in a reasonable amount of time, we opted to wait. The vet gave our dog a stomach calming injection and he seems to be okay now. Other emergency vets said that wait times could be 2 to 5 hours. My dog can't handle the stress of that. read more

Although it's out of the way for me in terms of distance, I wouldn't hesitate to bring her back. They made what is usually a stressful experience into a fun experience. You can stay with your pet the entire time which I loved. I usually get very stressed out when I have to leave my dog at the vet but I was able to be 100% involved in the process and I loved every second of it. I so want to give this place 5 stars as I was so happy when I had to take my dog in for an ear infection as all other regular vets were booked four weeks out or not taking new patients. I didn't want to wait weeks for her to be seen when she could potentially be in pain and could get worse if not treated. I actually loved this place, the concept, and making me feel involved in all of the the procedures and decisions. Most vets just do drop offs while your pet just sits in a cage for hours before even being seen. Which is so impersonal and worrisome for pets who have high anxiety around other people and animals... like mine. VEG let me be by her side the entire time which I so appreciated. We had Dr. To and a lovely nurse who we liked very much. They made us feel welcomed and supported. They did an ear culture on Stella but didn't see anything alarming even though she had lots of discharge and her ear was inflamed and noticeably irritated. They said there was no infection. They went in and checked both ears throughly and pulled out what was thought to be clumps of hair or part of a fox tail out of her right ear. They went ahead cleaned her ear and and clipped her nails which I thought was really nice. Outcome was they really couldn't find much of of an issue and the issue they did find we thought they had cleared. there was no signs of an infection but she said let her rest for a week and if the issue persists or comes back we could try antibiotics. I walked out feeling really good that my dog got the care she needed and I was was there with her through it all. I felt very happy and supported by the VEG team even tho my bill was pricy I was confident she was taken care of. I was so happy with this place I even recommended it on my original vets review section so other people know they can come her when they fell they can't go to their vets or get there pets in to be seen. That was until shortly after a week to now. Her issues has come back. Scratching of the ear, lots of discharge, shaking of the head. So I tried to send Dr. To a message in hopes of talking to her and trying out the antibiotics. Another Dr. Called back and I tried explaining the situation to her but she said I would have to bring Stella back in... I asked about the visit charge and they said normally it would have to be 24h to be waived. I told her we were supposed to wait about a week to see how she is. I also told I didn't have that type of money to have her continuously be seen for an issue that she was already initially seen for. She was honestly kind of rude and just made me super irritated. I messaged again and asked specifically for Dr. To but they said she's not on clinics I guess. Everyone I have spoke to over the phone has a total different attitude from when I was there initially. Kind made me feel like once we walk out those doors their support completely stops and we're only helped if we're spending a lot more money to get it. I will see how Stella is tomorrow and hopefully I will be in a better headspace to want to take her in. As of right now I just don't see myself returning paying ANOTHER $500+ for an illness she was already seen for and have her not fully recover from it. Update: just want to say thank you Jason and Dr. To for letting come back in and addressing Stella's issue. I appreciate your willingness to help Stella feel better and supporting us. Never going back. Brought in 2 dogs. They charged me $225 for a doctor to look in one's ears and say nothing was wrong. They called it an emergency, but since they made me sit in the lobby with my dogs for 3.5 hours, it obviously wasn't. If you're not certain it's an emergency, don't go there. I must say that as a San Ramon resident I feel truly blessed having this facility in our area. Had a scare with one of my dogs yesterday morning and needed to have him looked at immediately. One phone call and 15 mins later he was being checked up by the courteous staff and Dr Ogg at VEG. Fortunately he was on the mend and the doctor informed us that there wasn't anything to worry about and that we can call them again should the problem recur. It's nice to know there is an emergency pet hospital that takes walk-ins when my normal vet is booked weeks out. I was seen right away by the doctor and 20 minutes later someone took my dog in to get x-rays and blood work. 30 minutes later I get the results and treatment instructions from the doctor. I was in and out in under 2 hours. Don't expect a cheap bill, this is an emergency 24/7 clinic. Tonight I went here to check on my bunny who had been acting unusual. The previous day I had to put my other bunny down so my expectations were not optimistic. In a really stressful situation I found myself surrounded by a group of people who seemed to care about both my bunny and me. Very soon after entering Lydia came by to do an intake. They provided me with much needed support and reassurance throughout the entirety of my visit. They even went out of their way to check in with the vets when they noticed blood on the pee pad in my carrier when they were very obviously working on other animals. Dr.Powell met my concerns with a series of well explained possible situations and helped me understand what was going on. It was nice to feel like all my concerns were taken seriously and answered thoughtfully. They also helped me come up with the best plan that I was able to afford which was very helpful in a financially stressful situation. The other doctor on staff (Im so sorry I do not remember your name) also took time out of their busy workload to address all my concerns with thoughtful answers even when my bunny was not his patient. Aside from those mentioned above, everyone provided me and my bun with care. I don't typically write reviews but I wanted to express my gratitude. Today was my first time using this hospital. Our current vet is in Alameda and was closed today. Unfortunately, our 6 mos old Aussie caught kennel cough and got worse very quickly over night. By the morning, she couldn't go more than a few minutes without a coughing fit. I was turned away by the local emergency clinic because they were too full. I called at least 15 other small practices in the area and were told that they are not accepting new patients. In my Google search, I came across VEG and called them. They picked up the phone right away and the receptionist was very helpful, friendly and empathetic. They text me a link to the intake form so I could do it quickly at home and instructed me to call when I arrived. I only waited about 10 mins in the parking lot before a very pleasant and professional technician came to my car to bring us in. Once I was in the room, the tech took vitals and brought me a water and cookie while I was waiting. The vet was in the room within 10-15 mins and was super knowledgeable and kind. She got down on the floor to manage my hyper overly-friendly pup and had me out the door with meds in hand within another 10 minutes. The staff, facility and affordability (especially for an emergency visit) far exceeded my expectations and I would 100% recommend bringing your pet here for treatment, even if you have to drive a bit. During the pandemic the vet industry has been placed under immense stress, so I don't blame any of the other clinics for not taking us or for the semi-exhausted sound in their voice when they pick up the phone. However, my experience at VEG made me feel like an actual customer again, one that gets to go into the vet and accompany my dog during treatment. It was a very nice reminder of how things used to be pre-pandemic. read more

I went to VEG for the first time yesterday with my cat and I have to say, I LOVE their open concept space where you get to stay with and see your animal and can see where you stand in the queue and what their next steps are. The staff was informative and very caring and took great care of our kitty. My only knock against them would be the WiFi there seems a bit spotty. My husband brought our sweet 14 year old Border Collie mix, Baloo, to VEG 3 days ago. His hind legs were not supporting his weight and he was in pain. He saw Dr. Wilson, who took a detailed history, performed a thorough exam and concluded he had a neurological disease. She was compassionate, great with our Baloo, and prescribed meds to help with the pain. She called back the next day, her day off (!!!) saying she continued to consider all the information regarding his symptoms and did some additional research, and gave another diagnosis. I had to rush my little Jak to VEG because his heart rate was so fast. When I walked in at 5:00am we were seen right away, no paperwork or asking for payment. I was able to be with Jak as they examined him. Dr. Alex was so kind and sat on the floor after he had run some tests and explained that Jak had congestive heart failure. He told me my options and of course I told him to do whatever it takes to make him feel better. Jak spent the night in an oxygen cage. I was able to visit him and even facetime him. The staff and Vet's were so kind and gentle with Jak. Although in the end I had to put Jak to sleep, I knew that Jak was given the best care possible and had wonderful people looking after him. VEG is quite the place. They truly care about animals and everyone there helped me so much in so many ways. My dog came in with diabetic ketoacidosis and he was pretty bad. Many more ailments befell him before I had to finally end his suffering. I was there with my dog (my baby) for 2.5 days. I even slept there one of the nights in his large crate with him. The veterinarians are very compassionate, they understand your suffering and what you are going through. They take the time to ask if you've eaten or slept. The front desk staff are truly kind and wonderful. The vet techs are such beautiful souls who are compassionate and wonderful. One person that truly stands out there is Vet tech Heather. She helped my baby through a lot of the time he was there. They bonded and he didn't mind being poked and prided by her most of the time. She took really good care of him. She even offered to stay with me AFTER HER SHIFT when I had to euthanize my dog. She cried with me and showed support in those last moments with Luke when I had no one to lean on and I was truly alone. Tracy at the front desk emailed me to tell me she was so sorry to hear that my baby had to be euthanized when she came back to work and didn't see us there. To me that is such compassion and top notch care. These are the people you want in your corner when it gets rough with your animal. Thank you to Alyssa and Olivia for talking to me at the front desk and helping me through the toughest moments in those days. I will recommend VEG to anyone and I have so much gratitude for the kindness displayed there. I can't comment on their medicals services since my Holland lop had already passed away seconds before making it to their clinic yesterday; I live in San Jose and this was the closest emergency clinic with exotic pet specialists on duty. They got to examine him as soon as I entered the clinic and confirmed what I had feared. While they did offer attempting to resuscitate him they noted it was rarely successful, and I declined given the circumstances. They wrapped him up for me in a in box and I was not charged at all for this visit. The entire staff was incredibly nice and compassionate. When our dog Murphy started presenting with labored breathing on Saturday night my husband and I called every clinic in San Francisco and we got the same response "we are at capacity and can't take him, but he needs to be seen". When we called here they told us to bring him right in. They put him into an oxygen room immediately and started running tests. They offered us coffee, water, and cookies while we waited. They brought us chairs so we could wait right next to him and told us to stay as long as we like, even offering to set up a place to sleep for us. Murphy required observation and they called us twice each day with updates and said to come visit whenever we'd like. Each staff member who worked with us was kind and caring. I feel Murphy is in the best hands possible. read more

This place was a lifesaver for my hamster! He had a small case of pneumonia but wouldn't eat or drink, so I looked for a local vet nearby. Unfortunately, the only available place was this emergency vet center, so I quickly stopped by and hoped that they could help him! VEG has such a welcoming environment, starting from the moment you walk through the door! The front desk person was very friendly and helpful, making sure to check in often with all the customers. They have a cool air conditioned waiting room and refreshments as well! The wait wasn't too long for Dr. Dombrosky to be available - it took less than an hour, and I didn't mind the wait since I could see that other pets needed to be helped before me :) Dr. Dombrosky was attentive and quickly helped me get medications for my hamster's pneumonia. He even helped recommend a solution for my hamster's mites - they didn't carry the medication, but I really appreciate that he was willing to listen to all of my questions! The emergency visit cost is $150 before any additional medications or procedures. It was a little pricey for my hamster, but now I can sleep peacefully knowing that there is a place that can help me whenever I need it :) read more

We had the greatest experience with VEG ! They turned what was a very traumatic circumstance for us, into doing the very best they could to make it a comfortable and caring situation. Our 14 1/2 yr. old dog Rubi had been receiving monthly injections for her weak rear legs. On our way home from San Diego they just locked up in a squatting position. We could not make it back in time to see our regular veterinarian, so we went directly to VEG in San Ramon. From the time we walked in and explained what was going on they were extremely caring and professional. With a mutual decision to proceed with an end of life treatment, they were all terrific. They gave us all the time we needed and wanted, to stay with our pet. Everyone was extremely caring and consoling. I took my elder dog here this week because he wasn't doing well. I was referred by my vet, and after having been to multiple other emergency vets over the years, I am so thankful this is where we ended up. For starters, everyone was so helpful. I had my 5 year old daughter with me and the waiting room was equipped for kids. There's a vet play station and games, and even after being there with me for hours, she was still occupied. The vet, Melissa, and the vet techs were so helpful with my dog, the diagnostics to see what was wrong, and the decisions we needed to make. Everything right up to cost is straightforward. On top of that, while I was saying goodbye to my dog, the staff offered to take care of my daughter so she didn't have to be it the room with me during the procedure, and they took such great care of her. When we left, my daughter had 3 new dog stuffies, a coloring book, a shirt, colored pens, and a small plant in a goodie bag. Nobody expects to say goodbye to their pet 5 days before Christmas, and to say the care was above and beyond is an understatement.
