Sadly, I have been to VEG on numerous occasions, and I've never thought to write a review on yelp. Unfortunately, my cat Molly had not been feeling too well, and our original vet was unable to perform additional tests in a timely manner, so we decided to take her to VEG this past Friday as I knew we would get the answers we needed. Doctor Calderon and Dr. Schaefer were amazing, along with all of the nurses. The staff asked us on numerous occasions, if we wanted water, tea, coffee, cookies, anything, and always checked in on us. I really liked how Dr. Schaefer sat with us and explained the ultrasound findings, and explained what he was looking at so we were able to thoroughly understand what was going on with our kitty. The very next day, Dr Calderon called me to check in on Molly and to go over the additional test results that came in and explained everything to me in detail. Thankfully, our girl is doing well and much better. Regardless of if we have gone for non-life-threatening to sadly, life-threatening illnesses, we've always been treated so well there. The front desk is always so welcoming and hospitable, and all the doctors have always been great. I really liked how thorough they always are and always make sure that your pet is treated with love, care, respect, and dignity. Thank you again VEG for all that you do. I had never been here before but had an emergency with my conure so I needed to find somewhere asap. I saw a few reviews mentioning they had avian vets so I called them while on the road, they took my info and said I could come right in. When I got there they had me in a room within five minutes. Some nurses came in right away and checked over my bird, within another five minutes a doctor was in the room. Dr. Donner was the vet who helped my bird, she was very thorough in her examination and also made it a point to explain things to me as she went along. Oh. My. God. I am ETERNALLY GRATEFUL to these folks for helping me the other night. I came home from a long day to find my cat in distress, drooling, gagging, meowing and I panicked!! I Googled the first clinic close to me and rushed there and then had a horrible experience. They wouldn't treat her until I forked over almost $1800!! After being faced with basically no choice but to leave without treatment except some pain meds the nurse there told me about VEG on the way to my car. THANK GOD she told me otherwise I wouldn't have known about this wonderful place. I immediately drove there and was greeted warmly, at 1:30 am. They did an assessment and said they would do X-rays and sedation and see what was up. During the exam they found a rotting tooth and removed it. They brought my unconscious baby to me and let me hold her while she woke up. I left at 5:30 am with meds and wet food, and they worked with me financially. I can't overstate my gratitude for the entire experience. The entire staff was stellar. I am so happy I know about this place now. Cleopatra and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts. She is recovering well and she has been expressing her gratitude to her mom for taking the pain away, purring and head butting me a lot (maybe it's the pain meds too ). ============++++++============== Additional note two days later: I spaced and didn't refrigerate my meds!!! This is such a wonderful place to take your pet for any emergency needs. My cat was dealing with some GI issues, and I initially took her to an emergency vet that was going to take 4-5 hours to even touch her. A coworker of mine recommended VEG, so I called to see if there would be a wait time. They told me to come on in and sent me a check in text before I even left the first facility. I arrived and was amazed at their open concept. Very clean with super kind and upbeat staff. They took my cat in with a veterinarian within minutes. Once she got her bloodwork and x rays, she was put in a cage for additional monitoring and I could walk up to her and pet her as much as I wanted while we waited. I've always been used to ER vets just taking my cats in the back and having no updates for hours on end. Dr. To and nurse Julia were so sweet and helpful, and really settled my nerves. They were attentive and were thorough with medication instruction. It was a long day, but I'm glad to say my cat is as good as new, and I owe it to VEG. Keep up the great work! read more

Quick and compassionate service during our fur baby emergency! Staff and docs really seem to want to be there in our time if need.

Our dog received a bite on his ear from another dog. It was a Saturday, so we took him to VEG in San Ramon. We were told he would need some stitches and that they would call us. When we went back, the tech, not the vet, brought him out to us. He had a plastic collar on, which was covered in blood, his ear was still actively dripping blood, his fur was covered in blood, and top it all off, they had decided to trim his front claws and one or two of them were dripping blood as well! The vet came back out and could not explain why they thought he was even remotely ready to be delivered back to us in this condition. She didn't seem to have a clue in general. It was another couple hours before we were summoned to come back for a third time that night to pick him up. We didn't take him in for a heart transplant ... it should have been a routine visit for a couple of stitches and they couldn't have bungled it worse, and turned it into an even worse experience for our poor dog and for us. Oh, and it was over $1700 for the experience, by the way. read more

I highly recommend VEG for anyone who is looking for an ER for their pet. Rylee, our family cat, had been a newly diabetic cat who was given Bexcacat to treat her diabetes. Unfortunately, the drug cause increase the risk of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) which is what she was hospitalized for. We had previously been here (6 weeks prior) for a visit due to straining causing blood in her urine and had appreciated how quick and attentive Dr. Donner was. At this time, we did not know she was diabetic but learned quickly she was dealing with a UTI. Fast forward 6 weeks, Rylee had started her medication from her vet and was doing poorly. We initially took her to an urgent care since it was a Sunday and we did not realize how severe it was. They let us know her ketones were really high and we needed to get her to a place that can monitor her 24/7, I immediately chose VEG. Rylee was taken care by a wonderful team (thank you Dr Donner, Dr To, and all the vet techs) but unfortunately things were not looking great. It was also hard seeing her get her blood drawn every 2 hours, having IV's on 3 out of her 4 legs, and we could tell she was exhausted. She went from being 10 pounds early this year to passing at under 8 pounds. She lost over 2 lbs in less than 2 months. We decided as a family to let go to rest forever 5 days later. On her last day, we were able to spend the entire time with her in a room (and the night prior), and even got to take her home for a few hours before we watched our last sunset together as a family. I will never forget how well VEG treated us and Rylee during this time. We ended up bringing her back to VEG where she spent her final moments with us and Dr Donner. It is never easy losing your first pet, but I am grateful to have had the team at VEG by Rylee's side. I encourage everyone to have an emergency vet chosen, and I am glad this was ours. read more

Took my fur baby here on a weekday morning because he was yelping in pain every time he turned. It was nice that I was able to stay with my dog in the comfortable waiting room while they did initial assessments. The only time they took him away was to xray him. Otherwise, the assessment, the blood draw, the sedative were all done with me on the waiting room couch. I was there for about 4 hours since they had to wait for the xray room to be available and sanitized (an infectious dog was currently being seen in there), and for the sedative to kick in. However, the staff kept on checking in on us and updating me. They explained everything in detail, and answered all of my questions. There's even cookies, water, and coffee available while you wait. The only concern for some might be that the patient tables are placed around the big center room and they are all open for everyone to see. VEG is open 24/7 so that's another plus! read more

Our vet, Alex, had incredible bedside manner (think Ted from Schitt's Creek!) and really took the time to make sure Toast was okay. Took my dog in for a ripped dew claw nail which was barely hanging on and they quickly removed it and Remi was finally out of pain.. Initially I got a huge bill but after speaking with Jason , the medical director expressing my concerns about the bill and not being aware that their facility is really for emergency care. Veterinary Emergency Group is a god send. With most of the Veterinarians in my area booked three weeks out for an appointment and not open on the weekends, it's heartbreaking when your pet is injured or sick. Many advertise Urgent Care or Animal Hospital but don't provide that service. As you can see on my profile pics I have always had dogs and on rare occasions that there is an unplanned accident and you need a Vet right away. VEG opened a couple years ago and this was my first time in. My doggo woke up with a swollen eye and probably injured himself running through the bushes in the yard. As a pet parent it's your responsibility to help them. VEG is open 24/7 with a army of friendly caring veterinarians and vet techs. They were busy at 7:30 am on Saturday performing everything from a surgery on a cat to checking out my dogs eye. There were people and their pets from 40 miles away. The facility is high tech and the waiting room has coffee drinks and a TV that plays a Trivia game loop. Yes, services are pricey but if your going there you just want immediate care. The Vet checked out my dog's eye cleaned it and gave me some medication. Happy to say he's already better. Highly recommend VEG for any Urgent Care for your pet. read more

My dog became very sick and was taken to Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in San Jose. The very same day the SJ VEG wanted me to transfer my dog to the VEG in San Ramon claiming they had the right specialist for what was wrong with my dog. I noticed right away that the San Ramon was a better VEG. However, their way of treating my dog is by the symptoms rather than finding the root cause of illness. After 8 days hospitalized, my dog was deathly ill. Her red blood cell count was declining again. I asked them to do another blood transfusion to get the cell count back up but they refused. After spending nearly $30,000 between both facilities, my dog died at home 1.5 days after bringing her home, never giving me the opportunity to brining her to another specialist. The majority of the Vet Techs and similar workers were workaholics. they were truly dedicated. The VeterinarIans mostly sat at their desks, reading the Vet Tech reports and then writing their own reports based also on testing, such as blood and scans. I never once saw a veterinarian actually approach a crated pet to treat them, not even once. And I spent 8-10 hrs a day there for 8 days. if your dog has a physical injury, I see VEG as a 5star place for your pet. I watched a surgeon remove the leg from a dog with great professionalism and procedures. But it is not right to just treat the symptoms of a dog whose illness is not from a physical injury without finding the root cause. Neatly $30,000 got me 1.5 days at home with her. But I also must say that veterinary practices are turning to an open environment, and so had VEG. What this means is a pet owner can go back and stay with their pet in the triage area. That is an absolute wonderful thing for both the owner and the pet. read more

We took our cat here for a small emergency at 12:30 AM and were immediately welcomed even though it was pretty busy. We drove 35 minutes (one of the further emergency vets from us) because of the great reviews and SO glad we did. The entire staff is extremely welcoming, kind, and helpful. Our vet was AMAZING, I believe her name is Dr. Caitlyn. She explained everything clearly and eased our worries instantly. The facility is very bright and clean. I came back a 2nd time and was EXTREMELY disappointed. To treat a high fever, they started with a several *thousand* dollar estimate, which I then had to negotiate down to something reasonable, which would actually HELP. $2,000 of diagnostics does nothing toward helping my cat get better. The VEG itemized charge for appetite stimulant was $111 for a tiny tube. I said, "I don't think I need that. As soon as the fever comes down some, he'll want to eat, just like a human." The vet got angry and insisted on selling it. (Is she on commission??) I should've said NO. After all that, I ended up using one dose because as soon as the fever lessened, surprise surprise, he started eating normally. One dose for $111, more than a whole week's worth of antibiotics! For the sub-cutaneous fluids (found online for $10), VEG charges $60/bag. And the vet didn't look at me or say Hello when she walked up and then after sending the order (via her computer 8' away), she didn't come back to wrap-up or say Goodbye. The intake receptionist was good but the considerable (8 people!?) staff on the floor, rather than attentive to patients, patient 'parents' or work, were all hanging out in a cluster, fanning themselves and gabbing about movies and parties, while a woman, 15' away, sat sobbing on the floor of a cage beside her dying dog. It was the OPPOSITE of my last experience. I will not go back to unreasonably high priced and unnecessary diagnostics place, with customer care a far, distant 2nd. read more

My 17 year old dog was having some nerve and stomach issues unexpected in the middle of the night. The emergency vet near me wasn't able to take in my dog and recommended here. Called and they told me to bring him in. They were so wonderful and the location was very clean. Saw how the staff not only treated us very well but were so amazing with all the other pets and humans there. Tons of compassion and very helpful. I do not recommend this VEG location. I brought my dog in for what I feared was bloat. VEG diagnosed him with bloat, a large blood clot, pancreatitis, low platelets -- the list kept growing. (The low platelets turned out to be caused by their techs cutting his nose with a tube, which led to heavy bleeding. )They continued to charge me for an overnight stay, blood work, and additional testing. I eventually made the difficult decision to take my dog home, despite the vets insisting he was "very sick and dying." Oddly enough, he seemed to improve at home. Two days later, I returned for a follow-up blood test. I also got a second opinion from another vet who believed my dog would be okay. They recommended doing bloodwork at VEG for quicker results. The VEG vet said everything came back healthy. It became clear to me that VEG was pushing unnecessary treatments and hospitalization. They wanted to keep my dog until surgery to transfer him to a specialist. Looking back, it feels like they were more focused on running up the bill than truly helping. Had I followed their guidance, I could've easily spent tens of thousands of dollars -- and my dog may have suffered from the overmedication he didn't even need. Thankfully, he's doing well now and is expected to live a long, healthy life. I urge others to get a second opinion before committing to any major treatment plans here. Caring, compassionate staff during one of the hardest days of my life. Thank you Dr. Galusha and Mia at VEG, San Ramon, CA. I recently brought my feather baby girl (a parrot) to VEG in San Ramon. Parrots are incredibly delicate and exotic animals, so it's very important to me that she's seen by a trained avian veterinarian--not just a general vet. Birds are very different from dogs or cats, and not all vets are trained to care for them properly. If your parrot is sick or needs a check-up, an avian vet is the safest and most knowledgeable choice. It can mean the difference between catching something early or missing it entirely. She normally sees her primary avian vet, but they were closed when I noticed something was wrong. Her droppings were dark, and I feared internal bleeding or infection, so I rushed her to VEG. Dr. Galusha is one of the few avian vets at VEG, and I am beyond grateful that she was the one caring for my baby that day. She was professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and truly compassionate. She focused on helping my brave, fragile parrot feel better before jumping into diagnostics. My baby had fought PDD (Proventricular Dilatation Disease) bravely a few years ago--a serious and often fatal neurological disease that affects parrots' digestive and nervous systems. It has no cure, but she lived courageously with it. Dr. Galusha took that history into account and gave her the thoughtful, specialized care she needed. Even though it was a very busy Sunday, she checked on my parrot often, communicated with me throughout the day, and made sure I felt informed and supported. Most importantly, she treated my baby with the dignity of a human patient, not "just an animal." That meant everything to me. Toward the end of the day, Heaven decided it didn't want my baby to suffer any longer, and she passed peacefully. My baby and I both know that Dr. Galusha did everything she could, and we will never forget her care and effort. I also want to thank vet nurse Mia. I asked if she could trim some feathers for me to keep as a memorial. She did it so thoughtfully--placing the baby feathers in tiny glass bottles and the long feathers in a sealed bag. She even went the extra mile and gave me a little footprint in black ink on white paper. That gesture touched me deeply and meant more than words can express. Heartfelt thank you to Dr. Galusha and Mia for your compassion, professionalism, and kindness. My brave feather baby now rests in peace, flies freely in Heaven, and is no longer in pain. I will forever be grateful for the care and love you gave her in her final hours. read more

VEG is a wonderful veterinary hospital and I would highly recommend it. They are fast, thorough, the facility is very nice, they have state of the art equipment, staff is kind and does not make you feel rushed. Prices are reasonable for an ER. I brought my dog in because her health was unexpectedly declining, she was very lethargic that day and her regular vet could not see her for a week. I called and they said I could bring her in, they text me a simple form to fill out so they had her information when I arrived. I was expecting to wait hours since it's an ER, but I was seen right away. A nurse took her vitals and weighed her. They apologized for being busy and had us take a seat. My dog is reactive to other dogs, so they moved us to a very nice, private room. Within 5 minutes Dr. Perkins came in, took her history and began an exam. She recommended an ultrasound, came right back with the machine and started. She then had a cardiologist come in for a second opinion. She recommended an x-ray, text me a quote, I signed and they came in a few minutes later to take her. She came back shortly, the Dr came in a few minutes later to discuss results. She said they sent the x-rays to an independent radiology group for a second opinion and would have results within an hour. Unfortunately we did not have good news - aggressive cancer - but Dr. Perkins spent time explaining everything, showing me the x-rays, discussing all options and outcomes and answering all questions. She did not recommend treatment and said we should go home and make her last days special. I was crying and they said someone would come in to take care of payment so I didn't have to go out into the lobby. Someone came in to show me the bill, took my credit card and came back. I was told I could take all the time I needed, but we were ready to leave and they let us out through a side door. I was emailed my receipt as well as a detailed report and copies of x-rays, also sent to my vet. The base cost for the ER visit was $225, which was not unreasonable. Her many tests were an additional $765. We spent 24 hours with her and unfortunately she started taking a turn for the worse and did not want her to suffer. So we called Saturday evening and they said we could bring her in. As soon as we arrived they greeted us and took us back to a private room. She had to be euthanized, and although it was extremely hard for us, they made it very peaceful. They let us have all the time we needed with her, they were very gentle and kind. We made all the arrangements and payment without having to leave the private room. We chose to have her cremated and put in a beautiful box with her name on it. It also came with a clay paw print. They called me a week later to pick up her ashes and paw print. The cost for the appointment and cremation was $800, which was reasonable. VEG made a very difficult situation as easy as possible and we are thankful for them, especially since our regular vet did not figure out she had cancer. Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) was our third emergency room stop this last Sunday following my 10yr old corgi suddenly falling ill, showing signs of extremely pale gums and shaking. Earlier x-rays and blood work from another ER vet suggested the possibility of a mass on her liver, which had likely ruptured and caused internal bleeding. The previous vet advised that the mass was likely cancerous and recommended euthanasia, as they believed she was suffering. To determine the extent of the bleeding and assess whether the mass had spread, an ultrasound was needed, which was unavailable on a weekend. Calling in an emergency radiologist was not possible. I called four hospitals before being referred to VEG, who had a radiologist available on a Sunday. We decided to rush Gracie in to get an ultrasound to better understand what we were dealing with. VEG was aware of her critical condition and checked us in online while we were on the way. As soon as we arrived, we were taken back for the ultrasound. Dr. Eryn Del Monte performed the ultrasound and allowed me to assist in holding Gracie to help keep her comfort during the imaging. Dr. Del Monte concluded that the mass was localized to one lobe of the liver and showed no signs of metastasis. She was optimistic that the mass appeared to be operable. The first good news we got all weekend. After the ultrasound, Dr. Melissa Ogg ordered chest x-rays to check for any evidence of the mass spreading to the lungs. The results came back clear, which gave us hope that surgery was a viable option. Dr. Ogg then referred us to IronHorse Vetcare for emergency surgery. She sent us home with Yunnan Baiyao, an herbal supplement, that quite honestly brought my dog back to life. Her gums regained some color and she was able to stabilize the internal bleeding she had been experiencing. Long story short, VEG is a huge reason that we still have Gracie today. She's recovering well after her lobectomy, and I'm so happy to report that the biopsy came back benign. Dr. Ogg and Dr. Del Monte gave us the hope and strength we needed to fight for our girl, where other vets had given up on her. I will forever be grateful for their efforts and clear dedication to their profession. They continued to check in for daily updates on Gracie's recovery and were her biggest cheerleaders along the way. 5 stars is not a high enough rating to describe my experience at VEG. In any future emergency, this will be the first place I turn to. read more

Friday night and we notice an abscess on our cat in a not so awesome place. Our normal vet could not see us, so they recommended VEG. Called gave the info, said bring her on in. Pre-warned that there were critical cases ahead of us, so there may be a wait, but an abscess does get high priority. Very welcoming staff, put us in a quiet waiting room. Doc came in within the stated 5-10 minutes. Said she would be back as soon as she could. We were in/out within 75 minutes. Do not remember a time at our regular vet we were taken care of that quickly, even with an appointment. Great place if you have an emergency/urgent need. read more

I'll get to the point: if you want a quick walk in, great service, experienced vets and technicians and a clean facility, this is the place. The facility is in a plaza but it is definitely big enough to see many animals. There are many beds available as well as a big waiting room. They offer coffee, snacks and water (for humans) and have doggie treats available! There's even a TV that plays trivia and some small tablets on the walls for the kids to play on. There were multiple clean bathrooms as well. I first visited here back in 2022 for an emergency for my elderly rabbit as they were the only 24/7 emergency hospital that took in rabbits! I've called at least 10 other places that didn't take rabbits despite their website saying overwise so VEG San Ramon has my gratitude. Our rabbit was seen and diagnosed right away and we were able to get the necessary treatment within less than an hour which is needed when treating small and sensitive animals like bunnies. I had never forgotten their quick service and kindness since! We ended up visiting again because our puppy was experiencing an allergic reaction after a small hike - likely a bug bite or sting on his snout. Worried that it might clog his airways later on, we made a dash to the VEG without hesitation. I was able to call them requesting a walk-in, they just asked me for "Reasons for visit" and texted me a short survey to check in. I filled it in on the drive over and was seen right away after walking in even though there were other patients in line. We were put into a waiting room and the vet saw him right away. The vet who saw Bear was so kind and energetic. She diagnosed him and ordered him shots. Our dog is a yelper and skittish with shots but the technicians were troopers (we were asked to bear hug and scratch him so it was a group effort) and were still able to give him his injections! Everything worked as expected and our pup's swelling improved within 20 minutes! Had a very happy puppy on the way home. They are not cheap by any means but if you want to give your pet a good experience and want them to be seen by people who care, that is something to take into consideration. If I could give zero stars, I would. I brought my severely injured cat to this vet, expecting urgent and competent care. Instead, they failed to properly evaluate the severity of the wounds, skipped necessary steps, and dismissed my concerns. Instead of prioritizing my pet's health, they seemed rushed and indifferent, offering minimal treatment that did nothing to address the real issue. Because of their negligence, my cat suffered far more than necessary. I had to seek care elsewhere, where it became clear just how inadequate their assessment was. A vet's job is to provide thorough and compassionate care, and this place did the exact opposite. I would never trust them with any animal again. I WANT TO START BY SAYING THANK YOU DR. NINA! Thank you for saving marshmallows life! My cat had dental surgery, and a tooth extraction. Everything was fine before the surgery. Four days later, he stopped eating and drinking and then I took him here to see what's going on! Turns out he became anemic and needed intensive care! I hospitalized him and left him with a great group of people that truly care about animals! Very clean place and professional! I was able to be with him in every step! They constantly reassured me that he is going to be OK! They were also realistic about the different outcomes that might come into play! This vet misdiagnosed my dog which resulted in her painful death the very next morning. I have since researched and spoken with other vets who have told me that her symptoms necessitated further tests, which she didn't receive. We were told that she would be fine and that they were "almost 100%" sure of it. She as diagnosed with THC ingestion when in fact she was in distress from heart failure. Now, my soul mate is dead and she didn't get any help at all, or any chance to live longer, and we, her family, didn't even get to say goodbye. This vet stole all that from us. Our lives are shattered and our hearts are broken. I would give 5 million negative stars and a lot worse than that if I could. read more

Cuniculi, We came here, as they previously helped out other rabbits and they did not disappoint. They gave us the meds we needed, checked out his vitals and even shaved some of his hair, and cleaned up some areas he was having trouble grooming while sick. Obviously, no one ever wants to be in a position where they have to take their beloved pet to the ER, but if you ever find yourself in such a situation, there is no better place I could ever recommend. This is, hands down, the best medical care I have ever received. There is absolutely nothing more I could have asked for. Last week, I brought my Muffin (my sassy rescue kitty who's been with me for almost the entirety of my medical career) here after she got into a scuffle with our dog. My friend had placed a VEG magnet on my refrigerator door a few months prior, with rave reviews about how quickly they were able to take care of her very curious bee-eating dog, saying "I hope you never have to use this, but if you need to, I'd recommend this place." I called them in a panic and got there ~20 min later. They'd already sent me a link to check in but I didn't notice it due to said panic. They took us to the back right away and did a quick assessment + started her on oxygen to stabilize her. Muffin sustained bilateral pneumothorax and was eventually intubated + underwent 2 repairs. She went into cardiac arrest when they tried to see if she could breathe again on her own. They were able to bring her back and managed to extubate her + remove her chest tube and wean her off her pain medications to oral meds and she was able to be discharged to come home with me -- all this in less than the span of the most heart-wrenching 48 hours of my life I've had in a very long time. Every step of the way, they explained their assessments with me, what they were planning to do, what they expected to happen + what might happen instead (e.g. not-so-ideal vs worst case scenarios), and answered any and every question I had. I got to be next to her for almost the entire time (minus the surgery and CPR portion, very understandable). They also gave me the time and insight I needed to make incredibly difficult decisions. For some time, they were worried about pulmonary lacerations, which would've required a specialty surgeon, so they called multiple hospitals everywhere in case she'd need a transfer, but they were thankfully able to stabilize her and she was able to recover right where she was at VEG. They set up a private room for us to stay in so we'd have a place to nap while we were there and got me tea, cookies, coffee, blankets, and even found a phone charger for me to borrow since I'd left home in such a rush. (Thank you, Petra + Rachael!) They checked in with Muffin often and also with me to make sure I'd eaten/was taken care of as well. All the vets, nurses, vet techs, and staff were absolutely phenomenal but I wanted to specifically mention Dr. Dewlaney for her surgical expertise and compassion, Dr. Fabelo for talking me through what to expect and dealing with what a wreck I was, and Dr. Reinhart for the smooth transition/handoff and calling so many places for us, just in case Muffin might end up needing it. Also many thanks to Sheila for checking on Muffin and sending me photo/text updates when I finally convinced myself to go home/stop living at VEG. (I'm really sorry that I wasn't able to get everyone's names, but please know I really appreciate you all!) I hope in my heart of hearts that none of my pets will ever need emergency services again, but there is no better place to receive care and words cannot describe the amount of comfort I felt just knowing that Muffin was in the hands of the best of the best. Bella had developed Pyometra and was on the verge of losing her life. We can't thank Dr.To enough for agreeing to treat our fur baby and Dr. Alex Gascoune who performed the lifesaving surgery, the Nurses, Heather & Grace, along with the Receptionist Liz Blaire for their warmth and care of Bella. My Chihuahua recently couldn't eat or drink, so I took her to VEG San Ramon for a check-up. I waited in the lounge for about 40 minutes before finally seeing the vet. The veterinarian suspected that she might have a neurological issue preventing her from eating. I asked if it could possibly be related to her teeth, but he said no, that wasn't the case. The response already made me feel doubtful about their practice because as the primary reason for not eating, a basic common sense may be due to teeth issue. After that, the vet took my Chihuahua for bloodwork and tried to feed her some boiled chicken, but she still refused to eat. The bloodwork came back completely normal. Vet then prescribed Entyce (an appetite stimulant) and sent us home, telling us to observe her for a few days. The total bill was almost $1000, which only included blood works and couple doses of Entyce, not a small amount. Over the next few days, I did notice that Entyce helped a little with her appetite, but it was just a temporary fix. The real root cause was never addressed, and I felt like the money I spent there was wasted. If it wasn't for my pet insurance covering part of the bill, I honestly wouldn't know how to deal with it. Eventually, I took her to my regular vet, who discovered the real issue her teeth. She ended up having 16 teeth extracted, and now she has completely recovered and is eating and drinking normally again. I strongly do not recommend bringing your pet to VEG San Ramon. From my experience, it feels like they hire fresh graduates with limited experience, which increases the risk of misdiagnosis. The only positive thing I can say is that they do allow you to stay with your pet during the visit, so the owner doesn't feel stressful. Ultimately, this place needs to hire veterinarian with relevant experience to prevent misdiagnosing patients. read more
