The food overall was amazing, we loved and enjoyed it sooo much!! We couldn't get enough. The Birria tacos - the best I've have had hands down. The Thai chilli chicken tacos, for a primarily mexican restaurant they hit all the Thai flavors spot on! They did a really good job with their Asian flavors and hitting the mark with it! I took my mom and grandma here for dinner during our weekend in Galveston and we couldn't be more satisfied. My grandma especially can be very hard to please when it comes to food because she takes medications that interfere with her appetite but even she was totally impressed. We had the Mexican street corn as an appetizer, I had the Thai chili chicken tacos, my mom had the cheeseburger and my grandma had the jumbo fried shrimp. We loved everything, it was all well seasoned and so flavorful. I had my Thai chicken fried and it was perfectly crispy, the chili sauce was delicious, the waffle fries are some of the best we've had and my grandma ate everything on her plate which is rare for her. The prices are super reasonable which is not very common on the island. We've been to so many restaurants in Galveston that charge $25+ per plate and the food is just mediocre so to get amazing food for $10-$15 a plate is really incredible. We loved it so much we came back 2 days in a row and it's definitely our new favorite spot whenever we come to Galveston. read more

Juicy corn was topped with creamy cotija cheese, tangy lime, fresh cilantro, and flavorful spices. This was a fantastic appetizer. For my entrée I had the Bang Bang Shrimp and Salmon Tacos. The salmon was tender and flakey with a light crisp breading and was topped with a creamy lemon aioli and juicy pineapple pico de gallo. The shrimp were meaty and tender with a crip breading and topped with tangy cilantro coleslaw. The tacos were paired with soft savory rice and tender beans in a flavorful broth. I was skeptical of the chicharrones but they were fantastic and arrived still crackling! The ceviche is delicious and dryer than most, making for a lot more seafood than normal. Beef quesadillas were amazing as were the churrros for dessert. But my favorite is the authentic elotes. The corn is roasted/grilled as it should be! One bowl is a meal in itself! We come to Galveston for one week every year for 10 yrs and eaten at a plethora of establishments. This has to be top 5 among all of them! I had the Chile relentless and wife had poblano shrimp. We picked up and move inside - the waiter brought me a second cocktail for free even though only a little was spilled and we had a good laugh about it. We also tried the nachos, which were a bit of a disappointment. The chips were piled high with toppings, but there were a lot of chips that didn't have any toppings on them. The cup of corn was also a bit bland, but it was still edible. Our waitress gave us attitude no less than three times. She seemed like she was too busy to attend to us and was rude in her speech. Finally at the end my brother in-law had to say something because she was overwhelmingly un-courteous Overall, we had a decent experience at Vida Agave. The food was good, but the service could be improved. I would recommend this restaurant to people who are looking for a casual Mexican meal, but be prepared to wait a bit for your food. The quality of food is great. The happy hour is nice and goes beyond margaritas. I had the Birrira tacos and they were really good. I like that they let you dip them in the consume so you control the level of sauce on them. They also made them without cilantro for me. I liked the orange sauce and the pickled onions. My husband had blackened tacos with pineapple slaw. He really likes it. The portions are on the smaller side which I had read in another post. I think that's a good reason to order an appetizer. Stopped here because of the other reviews here on Yelp. My family really enjoyed their food they had got and said it was very good and not spicy at all. I had the birria tacos, which unfortunately, I found to be bland and the consommé was pretty salty too. Now the Mexican Street Corn was very good and definitely a highlight of my meal.
