Chips are good with great corn flavor. Red salsa tastes and looks like a can of tomato soup thinned out with a touch of mild spice. The green salsa was better with an underlying lime flavor. We had the Birria tacos. I've had better at other places, but they were good. We also had the classic beef tacos. These were small street tacos. Overall, they were dry which lime and salsa could not help. The beef was chucked in an unappealing way and had a bit of a strange flavor. We ate two and stripped the beef from the remaining two to share with our perritos (dogs) who were waiting for us. Both meals were overpriced for what we received. My friend brought me here, and he told me his friend from South America really likes the food, which meant that it must be good. When we went to the restaurant, we coincidentally ran into that friend. I got the Thai chili chicken tacos, which were very unique and delicious. I had previously had very mid Asian fusion tacos, but these were so good. The chicken was sweet and juicy, and it was perfect with the cabbage. My friend got the classic street tacos, which are his go to. I did think it was a little pricey for the portion size as the beans and rice were much smaller than I expected, but everything tasted very good. We enjoyed everything we ordered during our visit while on a girls trip to Galveston! We arrived around 7pm on a Saturday assuming it would be busy. Luckily we were able to be seated right away. While waiting for the clerk to return from lunch, I walked across the street to Vida Agave for something basic. Wowww!!! What a local gem! It's not in the popular tourist areas, but is tourist worthy. Service was impeccable and genuinely caring. Her heart was right there. The food star.... Birria Tacos! Can I get an OMG?!?! The two salsa that were served. We're both fantastic. I am all about flavor and not in need of hot for the heck of it. These did not disappoint and were fabulous. I have phenomenal cooks in our family and my son was in the restaurant industry for 14 years and a former chef. I had to message him immediately and tell him how wonderful this was. My family and I decided to order and pick up food from Vida Agave for dinner. My husband ordered by phone on speaker while we were out. The person taking the order was very friendly and after my husband finished telling her what we wanted she repeated our order back to us. She told us an estimated time that the food would be ready. We showed up to the restaurant about 30 minutes later at the estimated time and sure enough our food was ready. I didn't go inside so I'm not sure about the ambiance. My husband picked up our food and we were on our way. To start I ordered the Vida Nachos to share with one of my teens. The Nachos came with tortilla chips, refried beans, queso, guacamole, pico de gallo, sour cream, and jalapenos. The nachos were okay. I appreciated that they put some ingredients on the side so that the nachos wouldn't get soggy. The sour cream, queso, and refried beans were separate. The other ingredients were spread out. The guacamole and the chicken were the most obvious on top of the nachos and the jalapenos were buried inside. I added some queso and refried beans to my portion of the nachos and gave them a try. The nachos were okay. The chips were crispy, the chicken was good but there wasn't enough of it in the nachos as it was mostly on top. The guacamole was fresh and spread out on top. There were plenty of jalapenos spread throughout. I didn't put the sour cream on the nachos but my teen loves sour cream and ate it with his portion of the nachos. After getting a few nachos I noticed that under the top level there was mostly just chips. I would have preferred more chicken and less guacamole. For my main meal I ordered the Enchiladas Verdes. The enchiladas were filled with chicken and had green sauce and cream on top of them. They came with a side of rice. The rice was really good. It was flavorful. The enchiladas were also very tasty. The chicken inside was tender and the green sauce with cream was flavorful. Overall it was a decent meal. The phone call was easy, the person taking the order was friendly, and the food was tasty. My friends and I did family style and split the bang bang shrimp, street corn dip, vida nachos, buffalo chicken strips, and the beer battered salmon during happy hour. The portions were a lot larger than I was expecting so it was definitely a bang for your buck. The bang bang shrimp was probably the best thing on the menu so it is a must get! The shrimp was super crispy and the sauce was so addictive. The coleslaw also really brought all the flavors together. The street corn dip was a really good take on the classic queso and chips. I really liked the addition of corn and chicken being a good touch with an equal chip to queso ratio. The vida nachos had really good flavors as well. The chicken and guacamole were delicious but I wish there was a bit more cheese. You do have to pay extra for meat though but I think even without protein it would've been great. The buffalo chicken strips were okay and did not stand out like the other dishes we had so I would not recommend this unless you are an avid fan. The beer battered salmon was super crispy and was delicious as well. It comes with rice and beans or fries but we opted for rice and beans. The beans were super good as well and an interesting take since they were more black had a different consistency from what I'm used to. We also got the strawberry mojito and a well. The mojito is super dangerous because it tastes just like juice and I could not taste the alcohol at all. The well had a bit more kick of alcohol and the bartenders were super accommodating making my friend's order since they were looking for all the necessary ingredients. The service was amazing. Our server was super attentive and checked on us multiple times throughout our visit. We were incorrectly charged but the manager resolved the issue without a hassle and comped our nachos, which was super sweet of her. In the future, just make sure to ask for the happy hour menu for both food and drinks since we were only given the drinks at first. Maybe that's where the confusion came in for charges regarding our meal. It was also a great vibe with lots of seating. There was live music with a saxophonist who was super talented and engaging the audience during our meals. The only thing to note is they are currently doing renovations to their restrooms so you will have to use a porta potty. There is also limited parking, but there was street parking nearby where you can then just walk on over to the restaurant. read more
