A friend of mine loves this place. A lot. I've had the signature Pollo del Mar for dinner, it was very good. However, that sauce they covered everything in would make shoe leather taste good. That chicken was a little dry but I still ate very last bite. The pickled carrots that were complimentary were worth the trip alone. I'll definitely be back to try a few more items. Hopefully the service is a little better next time too. Wouldn't say it was bad, let's just say some additional training is needed. Feels like the type of place that doesn't have an employee handbook or any other type of standardized training. While they're still very friendly, this place is just too big to be hiding behind the "Mom and Pop" or "authentic" excuse for its staff. read more

We live close, so I have been here several times. Hubs and our son come here a lot for the oysters and the 7 Seas Soup...and to have Michelettas (sp) and/or a beer. If you are a seafood lover, you are going to love it. My boys love seafood, however, there are still things I can eat too (allergic to shellfish, dang it!). Their fried rice is AMAZING, and their hamburgers (be sure to ask for well done if you like medium well), are very good. This is not Tex-Mex, so please don't go in there expecting it. Their chicken and beef dishes are delicious and creative. The seafood dishes that come out for my boys look incredible. We love Mariscos....for the outdoor ambiance and fun. It is set up for Mexicans/S Americans, but Gringos go there too. We were born and raised here so we understand some of the culture. They host a lot of boxing and mixed martial arts events, and have a good patio and bar area. It is a lot like being in a bordertown restaurant. Are they kinda rude to Gringos, well, yes, we have seen it happen to others, but it makes it a LOT easier if you go in with a smile, and are overly nice to them first...then things go well from then on. Hubs has brought customers (and even our boss) here several times, and Mariscos always hits it out of the park. read more

This is my 3rd time here. 1st time was awesome...but I must admit I came only for the margaritas! They are kick ass! And I mean that in the way that it will kick your ass if you have too many...take my word for it!!!LOL! 2nd time I came with my boyfriend and it was okay I had the fish tacos and they were not the best I've ever had. Today I ordered a half mango and regular margarita and guacamole. I wanted to something really light. The guacamole is not (let me correct myself) 'does not' seem to be homemade...would not order it again. In fact I have more than half left on my plate and will not take home. Unfortunately we are all extremely disappointed and don't have plans to go back. It was SO loud we couldn't talk to each other. One of the people singing might be heading to the nearest gentlemans club when she leaves...or at least she's dressed that way. The other singer just plain can't sing...even when he sang Wooly Bully after a few beers. The food wasn't flavorful at all and not very much was served...even on the third try of getting my son's meal correct. The menu was hard to read, the waitresses weren't familiar with the dishes and couldn't even recommend anything to me. I left hungry and ate everything I ordered. Were should I start! Well we get their, its not like the place is packed and no one is in the front to greet and take us to a table. When we peaked into the restaurant the DJ greeted us and apologized for not having someone at the front and got menus and sat us down. He asked if we wanted something to drink and offered suggestions and what the drink specials were. He excused himself because the song was almost over and went to the bar to place our drink orders. BELIEVE IT OR NOT we still have not been approached by any waitress. My husband and I saw at least 4 waitresses in the back lined up on their phones. Well the DJ came back down and asked if we wanted to do Karaoke and asked if we ordered yet. We said No. BELIEVE IT OR NOT the DJ suggested plates and actually took our order. After he went and spoke to an older gentlemen then we FINALLY got a waitress. Might as well not have had one because she was very rude and kept giving us an attitude. Never refilled our drinks nor offered desserts. The music was great and the DJ besides doing a great job with the music went out of his way to sit us, take our drink order and our food order. We went to Vida Mariscos today for lunch it was our first time. The service was great, everyone friendly. The food was excellent. My husband has Cazuela de Mariscos and I had Flameado ? De Mariscos. It was ok. The food was good, but right next door, they have chips and salsa and this place had none. Oysters on the half shell with lots of ketchup and NO HORSERADISH!! Where have they been living? If they are going for a Mexican theme, have salsa (preferably hot (heated)) and chips. And if you serve oysters, please know what HORSERADISH is and bring it out. Also, the menu is not organized. One word - Deplorable!! My sisters, myself and 2 friends tried this place for first time since it was new-ish... Absolutely discusting service, food, and the atmosphere is more like an extremely loud night club - not a restaurant at all. Music started blaring about 7p in the middle of the restaurant - not even in the bar area...- we were sat at a table and waited for about 10mins before a server came. We ordered reg margaritas and later found we were charged for large ( glass was small enough would never have guessed). Food ordered with one allergy to shellfish, and he ordered chicken enchilladas and was very explicit about ensuring chicken was not cooked near shellfish. food all came out almost an hour later - chicken enchillada was a SHRIMP and chicken enchillada, other friend had ordered chicken verde and it came with red sauce instead, my shrimp on chopped salad- the shrimp were bad, discusting -- everything wrong. Waitress proceeded to argue with my friend there were not shrimp in his enchillada until he held up the bite he almost took with a big pink shrimp tail! Waitress dropped large tray of food on the floor for the next table (of 10), food splattered on our pants legs - and I bet they waited a very long time for their food! Food manager very nice, he came to offer slight 15% discount on food we never ate, but some we wore... He brought the bill, but also neglected to inform us they had already included a gratuity - we couldn't figure out why the bill would not add up for almost a half hour. Food manager came back and we notice a "Dine In" charge under the taxes -- he said that was actually a gratuity !! We provided our credit cards, for the bill to be split 4 ways, listed the cards and the amounts. The waitress brought the bills back and over charged 2 by 30dollars, one by 25dollars, and my sister ended up with only 5 dollars charged on hers!! The Waitress said she could only split it by 3 ???!!!! and the 5 dollars was ??? I would discourage anyone from going here -- another couple upon our departure stated the restaurant had done the reg / large margarita switch with them also - but they already knew from a previous visit, and had sent them back this time and corrected to the regular marg -which the restaurant was not happy about. It appears they are trying to make a buck however they can -- i give them less than a year if this all keeps up. Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had by far... This place is very close to my house. My husband & I waited in anticipation while they built it. Soon after the grand opening we gave it a try & loved it. He got the seafood soup & I had the fried seafood plate with dipping sauces. Everything was delicious. The dipping sauces tasted like they were homemade cocktail & tartar sauce. My seafood was perfectly cooked & moist. The second time this past weekend we gave it another try. We ordered the same things except this time I had the coconut margarita which was probably the best part of the meal. The complementary bread was a little dry & hard. My fried seafood & sauces tasted nothing like before. The breading was thick, no flavor, overcooked, dry, and the sauces tasted like they came from a bottle. Instead of fries I tried the rice. It was good but tasted like Chinese fried rice. No at all what I expected at a Mexican restaurant. It was all just blah. We got there just before the dinner rush & watched the band get ready for the night. The music they did play was extremely loud & there were several high pitched ear wrenching screeches when they tried tuning. To top it off there is nothing to block the sun as it sets in the evening leaving the diner blinded. The food is over priced for the quality. I can make better food at home for a lot less. read more

Passed by this place multiple times while heading to a friend's house in Magnolia. We decided to meet half-way for a Saturday afternoon outing & when we missed our exit to Lupe Tortilla's, we u-turned around & decided to try this place out. Right next door to Los Cucos, which was packed. This place had enough cars in the lot to not scare us off. Outside needed some clean up. NOW HIRING sign is never really a good sign for a restaurant (turn over) but it was falling down in the middle anyway so no could really see it. Also front door area needed sweeping as trash on ground & someone's box of OTC meds left on 1 of 2 benches. Ewww. Still feeling adventurous so ventured inside. Surprised...big venue w/t.v.'s everywhere. Hostess desk not too inviting but several friendly, smiling ladies there to help out. I mentioned that we were headed to Lupe Tortilla's but missed our turn & she said "you came to the right place!" We were hopeful. The restaurant wasn't even 1/4 full but she took us directly to a table in the back right next to drink machines. Nope, asked for another table, preferably a booth & they were cleaning one off so we took that one. Inside does look like it needs a good cleaning. Had to re-wipe table/booth as busser put his dirty dishes tub directly where I was gonna sit. He didn't wipe off either. Our server was initially pleasant enough but seemed bored. She brought us warm bread w/butter & a plate of pickled carrots & onions...so yum! Asked if chips/salsa & she said no. Wanting to try something different, we perused the menu...lots of great looking items. This was definitely not a Tex-Mex place. Ordered the Mangolada which was a mango margarita w/chamoy mixed w/in & around the rim & little bits of mango on top. It was different, yummy & spicy...I liked it! Friend got the large house marg & thought it was good. We decided to split an order of tableside guacamole & a 3-taco plate. The "tableside" for $10.99 didn't happen. She made it in the kitchen & brought out w/chips to our table. It was tasty but we did have to season it up as it was lacking zip (more cilantro needed, perhaps). The 3-taco place w/fried rice (like oriental but w/more soy sauce...so good!) & black beans. This plate w/fish, shrimp & chicken taco was really flavorful & delicious & served w/2 different sauces...we enjoyed it tremendously! Am looking forward to going back & trying a couple other items on the menu. The fish plates look delicious! Maybe a little more sprucing would help bring more people to this more authentic Mexican place than the Tex-Mex places. read more

This place was really rockin! Celebrated my friends birthday a couple of weeks ago and the DJ totally rocked! He makes your birthday an event and has the whole restaurant celebrating your birthday. He even put your name up on all the projectors and video screens. He makes you feel like a super star! We even did the conga line around the restaurant. Very family friendly! The DJ even played the Barney song for my daughter which she requested.!!! This is the best DJ ever!!! So People friendly and aims to please. I went back this weekend to celebrate my sisters birthday expecting the same experience and had a loud band playing espanol music all night. The DJ had a variety of music and played what the people wanted and requested. Not everyone speaks espanol and likes espanol music. I asked what day the DJ was playing and they said they rather have a live band. Then manager was very rude when I asked him about the DJ he said he prefers the band and didn't even listen to my request. I had over 25 people that were expecting a good time with music, dancing and birthday festivities instead had a rude manager which couldn't speak English and a loud band that sucked. VERY LOUD mariachi music. The waitress was very rude and kept hitting on my boyfriend. Not every man wants a Mexican senorita with enormous breasts!! I promise not to go to this place again. Its a sports bar not a cantina in mexico with mariachi music all night. VERY DISSAPOINTED! BRING THE PARTY DJ BACK!!! read more
