Their menu is pretty simple and has all the basics you would associate with Vietnamese cuisine. Most people grab a sandwich to go. Wanting to try a little bit of everything, I ordered: Cold Cut Banh Mi ~this is the OG to measure all sandwiches by and I would say it was dry, not enough pate Crispy Pork Chop Sandwich ~marinated chopped pork that's kinda lightly deep fried but not heavily battered Pork Belly with Kimchi Sandwich ~a Korean take on the banh mi but I can pretty much make this at home Combo #1 Rice Plate $17.75 ~comes with grilled chicken and grilled pork, a fried egg roll and a fried egg, you can also choose rice or vermicelli Bun Bo Hue $15.95 ~this was kinda disappointing: not spicy enough, pork blood and just overall was not authentic but a close copy cat version Sandwiches were $9.50 and they're still running their promo to buy 4 and get 1 free -- so $38 for 5 sandwiches. I'll let you do the math to see if it's worth it. The sandwiches are good for a light meal but be prepared to wait or go do your shopping at Luckys and then come back for pick up. I called in for takeout banh mi they said it'll be ready in 10 mins. I get there in roughly 6 mins and then they had me wait another 20 mins. I didn't tip because why would you for take out? They noticed that and took longer on my order. When I got my pork belly banh mi it had three thin slices of pork. I'm going around the area trying Bánh mi to find the best one worth the price. Would definitely recommend BayHill Vietnamese Bistro, they're $1 more and super quick and have more meat. I ate mostly bread and veggies. read more

After shopping across the street at the mall, I looked up some places to eat nearby and Viet Time popped up. It had good reviews, prices, and looked relatively new so I wanted to try it! I wanted to try their banh mis, and fortunately, they had a tofu sandwich as a vegan option. It is $8.50 alone or $12 with a drink combo. I ordered mine without mayo. It took nearly 20 minutes for my order to come out. They looked busy, but the pho bowls flew out more quickly. When my sandwich finally came out, I couldn't be more disappointed. The bread is a nice size, but hardly toasted at all and was too soft and had no crunch. There was NO jalapeno and they put the most insulting skinny piece of cucumber. Please refer to my photo posted -it's honestly really sad they thought it was ok to use that piece of cucumber. Finally, they added the saddest sprig of cilantro on top. What is even the point?? This is the most pathetic banh mi I've ever seen. The only redeeming thing about the sandwich is that the tofu itself is delicious, fried, crunchy, and of good quality, but everything else was laughable. All they had to do was toast the bread a bit longer, add in an APPROPRIATE amount of cucumber & cilantro, and add a few slices of jalapenos. HARD pass on this place. I saw a new Vietnamese spot pop up in the area so I had to try it. The restaurant is newly renovated and clean. They also have a cute grass wall with a neon "Viet time" sign for your Instagram needs. Parking is easy since it's in a plaza with lots of parking spots. Firstly, we came when the restaurant was newly opened so they may still be figuring things out. But, the setup of the cashier makes it hard to differentiate takeout orders vs dine in. They don't have a waitress or waiter working the dine in so we thought we had to get in line at the cashier to order first. 5 min into waiting in line, then someone asked us if we were dining in and seated us. The food took a long time to arrive. They didn't bring us water until maybe 20 min in. Then our food came 30 min in. They had a lot of takeout orders at the same time and those people were also waiting for a long time. The food though was good. The fried tofu was nicely fried and tasted like salt & pepper chicken but with tofu. We got the Chicken Garlic Noodles and the Lemongrass Pork Chop Rice plate. Everything was flavorful. The lemongrass pork was more sweet than I'd like but it was still good. They also add Parmesan cheese to their garlic noodles, which we weren't expecting. Clean, modern, bright spacious welcoming interior with a nicely placed comfy corner for people waiting for their takeout. Staff was warm and helpful with questions. Did takeout order: 1. COLD CUT BANH MI - Vietnamese sandwich of head cheese, fancy pork, Ham & pâté. An option was to add jalapeños. To me, jalapeños are a must with banh mi. The Vietnamese butter in lieu of house-made mayo was new to me. No cucumbers. A personal preference: The only thing that throws me off a classic cold cut combo is the ham that's offered now and it's a different classic. Still a good banh mi with the warm crusty bread laden w/cold cuts, pâté, Vietnamese butter, pickled veggies, jalapeños (optional), fresh cilantro. 9. COMBO #2 RICE PLATE - Grilled chicken, pork chop, egg roll & fried egg, small salad, Nước Chấm. This was a good recommendation by staff. Nice combo that was filling and satisfying. I love Vietnamese grilled meats and seafood but I did not get the grilled flavors or enough of it. The chicken seemed slightly grilled but the pork chop not at all. And I LOVE me a good GRILLED Pork chop! A solid grilling would put this as awesome because the seasonings were all there! Other than lack grill flavors, 1 star off, I would return to try other menu offerings. Venue: 4.5 stars. Located in the San Bruno Towne Center, I immediately parked my car at a space right in front of the eatery. I arrived shortly before 3:30 PM to a dining room with only about two or three occupied tables. One of the tables was being used by a staff member. The venue, with white ceiling, walls, and floor, appeared clean and well-kept. Minimal décor on the walls with a cute faux greenery & floral back drop with the restaurant's personalized neon light/sign serving as the space's focal point, a perfect background for a foodie's social media photo post. Food & drink: 3.5 stars. Below are the to-go items that I ordered. SANDWICH (COLD CUT) & DRINK COMBO ($12) with Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I customized my sandwich to omit the Head Cheese and Ham and replace them with extra Pate. When I referred to the Fancy Pork by its Vietnamese term, Cha Lua, this is when I realized that Nelson did not know the native word for this meat. For replacing both the Head Cheese and Ham, I was expecting way more Pate than I received. Perhaps the original serving is skimpy? I enjoyed the BANH MI nevertheless as well the Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I ordered an extra Vietnamese Iced Coffee for my husband. He said that it wasn't bad, but was a bit on the dark side. This was my first time here. I wanted to like the place, but I was disappointed. I ordered a bahn mi combo with chicken and Thai iced tea. The food looked appealing, but it was bland and there was no flavor to be honest. Prices are affordable. I only ate half of my sandwich and left the other half at the table. The Thai iced tea was not sweet at all and tasted old. The only thing that I did like were the shrimp rolls. They were made fresh and the peanut sauce was authentic as well. Stopped by to try some drinks. We got the three color drink and vietnamese coffee. Im pretty disappointed in the drinks and wanted to provide some feedback. First the mung beans tasted off. It tasted very beany and grainy. Quite overpowering. I didn't taste any coconut milk as I usually would with che. Also, it was wayyy too sweet to enjoy. It would be nice to have a spoon to eat some of the toppings too. As for the 2 Vietnamese coffees we got, one drink was extremely bitter and had no hint of sweetness. The other drink tasted like a regular Vietnamese coffee. I wish it was more creamy and sweet tho. Additionally reducing the amount of ice would be great because half of it was ice. The food came out within ten minutes and the person that took the order was friendly. When I got to my room, the noodles, veggies and beef are all packed separately. Convenient location in San Bruno, in the same outdoor mall as Marshall's. Lots of parking. Good prices. My partner and I have dined in and ordered takeout a few times. We've ordered their banh mi combo (about $10) which comes with your choice of banh mi and drink (iced coffee, milk tea, or Thai tea). I've also had their rice plate with chicken wings, bbq pork chop, and spring roll. Very tasty and satisfying. I do think their portions are smaller than other Vietnamese places in the surrounding areas of San Bruno and SSF. I went to Viet Time for the first time and I have to say I am very impressed by this small family business. The customer service is excellent and this is an easy location to go to even on busy days. The best part is how affordable their menu is also. Very rarely do I see Bahn Mi's in the Bay being charged under $10 and they sell theirs for $8.50 each which is a big plus in my book. The interior is also super clean and comfortable. I got to try the Pork Belly with Kimchi Sandwich and Crispy Pork Chop Sandwich. They were both some of the better Bahn Mi's I've had recently. The Pork Belly and Kimchi is a unique combo and the kimchi itself replaces the Jalapenos and it works perfectly. I would highly recommend it. The pork belly and the pork chops were very tender and juicy. The bread was also very crispy. I'm definitely coming here again whenever I'm craving sandwiches and everyone working there is so friendly. 10/10 experience all around. This is a family business worth supporting! read more

This spot took over a Korean toast cafe that closed down. The inside is nice and clean. It's small, but I didn't feel cramped. It can easily accommodate eat-in and to-go. The staff was nice and they asked if we wanted tea or water which was really nice imo. So onto the food: I've gotten to-go and sat in to eat. Their special combo pho- they give a lot for size small and even more for size large. It's a healthy amount of meat and noodles. The soup was just ok. Nothing to complain about, but also nothing to write home about. It was ok. My fiancee, who loves pho, said the same. I tried their chicken pho - it was good. I'd rate it above their beef pho. It had a really strong chicken taste, maybe a bit too strong for me. I added pepper and soy sauce to tone it down a bit. I liked the variety of chicken meat included and I liked their thick rice noodles. It was good, but again not anything crazy. Lastly we tried their shrimp spring roll. This was good. The meat served here is dodgy to say the least. Was craving good banh mi and felt truly let down by this place given the highly rated reviews. Note - I ordered in advance and ate my sandwich 20mins later, so potentially it may have tasted better eaten straight away. But I'm still getting jitters from the gross and thick layers of pork it's making me want to gag Another disclaimer, I'm not Vietnamese and perhaps only know the gringo version served by Lee's Sandwiches. So, if this is the real deal then I guess it's not for me! Ordered egg rolls, the belly pork and kimchi banh mi, bbq pork banh mi (had to ask for jalapeños which seemed odd as they're always in there!?) and a pho ga. Across all the dishes the meat was disgusting. The chicken barely seemed cooked in the pho ga and had thick hairy skin on it!! The bbq pork was def not flavored. Just thick grizzly slices of boiled meat with no flavor. There was no kimchi in the banh mi just some paste smeared on. That said, the pho/soup was flavorful and I'm grateful the stop wasn't a complete waste of time. So I had really high hopes for this place. The first time I dined in, it was okay. Nothing spectacular but got the pho craving done. The second time I came in, the beef pho with brisket and rare steak had so much fat in it, it was unappetizing. I told the server my feedback and the kitchens response was "we can't control it because the recent delivery of meat had a lot of fat on it." Well, okay, if that's the case, you still are able to control it and not serve it to customers. They offered me a 10% discount but even then, I think they could have at least comped 20% given mostly 1/4 of the pho had fat and gristle. Also, it's confusing when you enter. You don't know if you're supposed to pay upfront and then sit down, or just sit down and have them take your order. There's also no napkins or forks on the table. The plate of veggies didn't come with any cilantro or jalapeños. I had to ask them for a napkin, fork, and jalapeños which is such an inconvenience because they'd rather prioritize DoorDash orders.
