    papaya salad
    Sravya V.

My friend and I got takeout for a cozy dinner in, and I'm glad we chose this spot! Things are reasonably priced, and comparable to other thai spots in the area. The food also stacks up well! The drunken noodles were very interesting in that they had some of the widest noodles I've ever seen. It was unique, and it was also interesting to see the sichuan peppercorns used as flavoring and garnish. The massaman curry was hearty and had a good balance of the coconut and curry flavor. The chicken in the curry was well cooked as well. The papaya salad was super fresh but also with quite the spicy kick! I look forward to trying this place again one day, and perhaps dining in next time!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Came here around 1pm on a Sunday, and it was busy but fortunately a table just emptied for us to take.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the pad thai with tofu, and it was simple and good. Friend got the drunken noodles and it has a good spicy kick to it, which I might opt for next time. We also shared the curry puffs which were decent but a bit pricey for 4 small ones. We also shared the mango ice cream sundae. The sticky rice was warm and a nice texture with the ice cream and the crushed peanuts. I wish it had a little more ice cream but I'd get this again.

Imagine ordering a whole dinner with extra meat and still being starving because they practically gave you nothing, top it off with the WORST service. The mistakes I've put up with for the past couple years for the Massaman sauce isn't worth it anymore. At least they cover the food now so it doesn't spill everywhere. But I am sick of this place. They give you half the food they used at double the price and when I paid for extra chicken it's like they gave me less than a regular order. It's pathetic it should be criminal ‍

I've ordered from Thai Hot Box in the past and this was my first time dining in. I was very pleased and will definitely return to dine in! I've been to several Thai restaurants in the area including Tha Phraya, Up Thai and Thep and I have to say, I've been super happy with Thai Hot Box! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small restaurant and I presume they mostly do takeout but I enjoyed eating in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered- glass noodle vegetable soup $8- this soup hit the spot, the broth was light, it had a good number of delicate glass noodles and it was chock full (I'm not kidding!) with vegetables! So many delicious vegetables! It was beautiful and flavorful. Pineapple fried rice $16- this was the best pineapple fried rice I've had! It had a generous amount of pineapple and the flavors worked really nicely. You can order it with chicken, mock duck, beef, vegetable, shrimp. Really really good. Massaman curry with chicken $16- this was good for sure, but it wasn't a super standout in my opinion. Overall, I'm glad I tried it. Don't miss Thai Hot Box!!

Friendly and quick service. They were very attentive. I got the drunken noodle and it was fairly good. Very spicy for medium spicy, and I've tried a decent amount of drunken noodles before at other Thai places. Overall worth it and could be worth another trip

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Thai hot box is a small restaurant, with about 6 tables inside with some solid Thai dishes and service that can match some of the other Thai restaurants rivals in the neighborhood.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service and food were excellent! We ordered the chicken basil and the pad see ew noodles with a side of steamed chinese broccoli. My noodles hit the spot! It came out piping hot with delicious flavor. Hubby loved his chicken basil! It had a hint of spiciness. Overall we are so glad we stopped by!

I was recommended the beef noodle soup and that was very tasty, as well as my friend's pad kra pow. I would say that the drunken noodle did lack a bit of flavor, though. The service was very helpful and attentive, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved the vinyl theme they had going on. It felt like a Thai record store on the inside![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Just the right amount per dish, hit the spot. Fresh ingredients and cooked to a great taste. Small quaint place decorated with Thai theme, looked like they were selling local seasonings hanging off the counter. Service was friendly, they were on top of refilling water and since I ordered tea offered to refill the hot water as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're in the neighborhood looking for a quick bite in a nice friendly cozy environment Thai Hot Box is a must try.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Wing Zaab
    Chelle L.

So happy I tried this place! The wings zaab was wonderfully crispy and a good size. The crab rangoons were great as well but were a little small in my opinion. Now this place does spicy food! The tom yum noodle soup was spicier than I thought it would be (2 chili peppers) but I still enjoyed it. The shrimp balls and fried pork rind in the soup were lovely. Our server was very kind to point out other non-spicy dishes to try next time as they could see me struggling lol. They also explained they're able to make the tom yum noodle soup less spicy upon request which is good to know for next time. The price is really good for the amount of food we got! The inside is clean and smartly decorated.

Wasn't as spicy as advertised but had extra garnishes like red chilies and peppercorns compared to usual Thai restaurants

Service was great. Food was delicious. Portions were a good size. Would recommend the Wing Zaab and Chicken Pad Thai.

Garlic Sauce sauté with Mock Duck
    Mona T.

Overall Thoughts: This is a chill, aesthetic restaurant serving up delicious Thai dishes-- especially tasty mock duck. Both the restaurant itself and the food presentation were very aesthetic, with a lot of thought put into both. The service is quick and friendly, and the prices are good too-- especially compared to other Thai spots in the area. Food I tried: - Garlic sauce sauté with mock duck (5/5): This was my favorite dish from here. The mock duck was super tasty, with a delicious meat-like texture and strong garlicky soy sauce flavor. You can really taste the garlic in the sauce, and it was really good. - Bamee yok nah petd (3.8/5): I didn't love this one as the noodles made up the majority of the dish yet they were kind of bland and overpowering. The duck was crispy and flavorful though. Because there wasn't much else in this dish besides the noodles and duck, it was kind of a monotonous dish overall. - Pad woon sen with mock duck (4.3/5): This was pretty good-- again the mock duck was amazing and the glass noodles were flavorful and well-sautéed. -- Price (relative to peers): 4.4/5 Food: 4.3/5 Ambience: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Overall Value: 4.5/5

Chicken green curry with Thai dumplings for lunch combo.
    Jon S.

OMG! I must say I was so impressed with my food and dessert. I've had so many Thai food in my life, but this by far my favorite. The chicken green curry was perfect with enough spice and vegetables. I wouldn't change a thing. The dessert is to die for. I was so glad I ordered the dessert, because it was the most authentic mango sticky rice I've ever had. Too bad I'm only here for vacation or I would eat here at least once every month.

The restaurant was busy and I was by…read moremyself so I was happy to sit at the bar, and was attended to by the most sweet bartender ever. Very polite, professional and attentive. I first ordered the crispy spring rolls, which were very good. For my main I had the Massaman Curry. Now folks, this is my favorite curry of all time -- actually one of my favorite foods of all time -- and while it's common in LA where I used to live, it's not as common where I live now, in the Bay Area. And the restaurants that do carry it usually do not make it right and it's not very good. I am used to Massaman in the traditional preparation where it's more like a beef stew made with chunks of beef and needs to cook overnight. When done right it is the most aromatic curry ever -- it's almost like an aphrodisiac! -- and the beef comes out oh so tender. Usually if places have this curry but then offer a choice of protein, then it generally is not cooked properly, and that is actually how they prepare it at SaiTong. But because of such great reviews I decided to take a chance and try it. Well, let me tell you, it was definitely not the norm...it was absolutely delicious! I had it with chicken (they serve breast as default), and the chicken soaked up the curry really nicely. I also asked for there to be no onions, which I think alters the flavor of a curry too much. It does include the traditional potatoes and peanuts, and the potatoes were fine and cut into nice little chunks, the peanuts actually were thrown in raw.. what I think is the more traditional way which is to actually burn the peanuts a little bit, but that's okay, it didn't take down the dish any. Their brown rice is of the very dark kind, which I like, and goes so well with the curry. Service was wonderful from the bartender but was also provided by the rest of the staff and everyone was so nice. I left there feeling so satisfied, and cannot wait to go back and try some other dishes.

Fortunately, there were plenty of options near my Midtown hotel that offered quick delivery. Dagg Thai was just around the corner and had solid Yelp ratings. Rather than creating an online account, I called the restaurant directly and placed my order. They estimated delivery would take about 25 minutes. Less than 20 minutes later, the food was waiting for me in the hotel lobby. I ordered: * Cashew Nuts with Shrimp -- Bell peppers, onions, scallions, cashews, and dried chilies. * Dumplings -- Mixed shrimp and pork served with a soy vinaigrette dipping sauce. The Cashew Nuts with Shrimp had a flavorful, light sauce with just the right amount of heat. I really enjoyed it. My only disappointment was that the shrimp were battered and fried; I would have preferred grilled or pan-seared shrimp. The dumplings were more like shoo-mai than traditional dumplings. They were a bit dense but still flavorful and satisfying. Considering the quick delivery, the food arrived piping hot, and the excellent Cashew Nuts dish, this was an easy four-star meal.

My friend and I were heading somewhere else for dinner, but our original spot was closed for a private event. We decided to pivot and come here instead, and it worked out very much in our favor! I actually just got back from a trip to Thailand, so I went in with high hopes but a curious mind about how the authenticity and flavors would compare. While there were naturally a few little differences in taste here and there compared to being on the ground in Thailand, it didn't dim the deliciousness whatsoever. The food here is absolutely stellar. We decided to sit at the bar, and both bartenders who looked after us were incredibly friendly, helpful, and super clear when explaining the specials. I asked one of them for their favorite recommendations, and it did not disappoint. Here is what we ordered: Pineapple Fried Rice ($21): We ordered it without adding any protein, and it was packed with flavor. Highly recommend. Pad Thai ($24): We added beef to this one, but honestly, the noodles were so incredibly flavorful on their own that it didn't even need the additive! Thong Pan Sai Gai ($17): These looked almost like little tacos but were uniquely delicious. Papaya Salad ($16) & Satay Spring Rolls ($16): Perfect, fresh starters to kick off the meal. Mango Sticky Rice ($17): A must try for dessert. They use purple rice for this, and it was so yummy. For drinks, my friend ordered a Lycheetini ($19) and loved it. I had the Tangmo, Tangmo, Tangmo ($20) which was nice and refreshing. Even though our meal was a mix of great apps and sides, it was incredibly filling. We actually walked out with leftovers.
