    Oxtail soup
    Jasmine D.

No frills deli at the M. You order at the counter and pick up your order when your number is called. Ample seating. There's an ice and water dispenser if you don't want to purchase other beverages. Bus your own dishes and trays. Stopped by here for lunch on our way home back to CA, saw they had oxtail soup on the menu and I had to have it; was one of my favorite dishes when M's buffet was still open (and I hoped it was the same). For $23.99, it sure was pricey! However it was a huge bowl of soup filled with tender oxtail, and came with a bowl of steamed white rice on the side...and definitely met my expectations. My husband had a pastrami sandwich and a slice of pizza, and both items did not look appetizing at all. The sandwich appeared dry, and the pizza looked sad & floppy as if it was microwaved - husband said the pizza was terrible. He ate only the cheese of half a slice and threw the rest away.

Loco Moco (White rice, hamburger, gravy, and fried egg)
    Patrick G.

I had the opportunity to try Vig Deli for a quick bite. I ordered the Loco Moco, which is made with white rice, a hamburger, gravy, and a fried egg. This bowl was extremely dry and flavorless. There was not enough gravy to saturate the sticky white rice. The hamburger was a bit dry, and the fried egg was decent. This place is very fast-paced, with orders coming out quickly, which could compromise food quality. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The ambiance is fast-paced and loud. I really wanted this meal to work because it reminded me of my childhood, but it fell short.

It's been good everytime we go. Quick and easy. Good selection of food. I enjoyed the oxtail soup.

Vig deli is a staple here at the M. It's been here for many years offering good food and reasonable prices. I've been here many times throughout the years during staycations, dropping in for a bite after a long day at the M pool, or just to grab lunch while placing a bet. Service has always been good and the deli is always maintained and clean. Sometimes they will have a line, but it moves pretty quickly. Most recently i had the French dip and my experience wasn't the same. I felt the meat was rubbery, oily, and not so fresh. Also the prices weren't so reasonable this time around. Was pretty bummed after spending almost $20 for my sandwich.

The food was just ok, typical casino sportsbook food. There is plenty of seating and it is located right next to the casino, so the noise level is pretty high. The ordering process was hurried although the cashiers were only on cashier duty as the kitchen area was full of workers. I stood by the order pick up area waiting for my simple order as number after number was called. As I stood there I could see most of the food prep area as well as the full expediting station. There was a lone order of fries sitting for the entire time I stood there, about 8/10 minutes. From where I was standing I could see the person expediting the orders use a gloved hand to touch the side of the wire/metal fry container and the touch the top of the fries. During the minutes I stood there she had the same gloves on and touched many surfaces, including her clothes. When she called my number, she gave me those fries she touched as part of my order. She pushed the tray at me and I pushed it back and asked her for fresh fries as I saw her touch them. She immediately grabbed the fries and literally threw them in the trash, wire/metal and all. She threw it in the trash with anger and at that moment I thought what a poor way to handle this situation. A nice apology would have been better. Enjoy deli foods somewhere else, as this place doesn't seem to care about customer service.

Try to. Teach the cook how to cook pizza right Especially that you raise the prices.

    Empanada

Kind of disappointed the Empanadas has changed. It's in a dumpling wrapper instead of the flaky crust wrapper that it should be. Steak nachos,Chicken wings and the whole pizza is a deal and always taste good.

The food was okay. I ate here twice while my sister was at a work event. The steak nachos was probably the best thing I ate there, it was so filling that I couldn't finished the other food. The bacon cheeseburger was a little bit dry and the onion rings was just okay. Nothing to write home about. Both times that I was there, service was okay. It wasn't bad nor was it good. There was plenty of tables but I opt out to have eat at other areas of the establishment with a better view than the dining room.

Located inside the M Resort/Casino, near the sports book.
    Dar O.

Located in the M Resort/Casino and next to the sports book. Good amount of dining tables and spacious. During concerts it can get extremely busy during dinner time, so plan accordingly. Workers here are always friendly and helpful. They do a great job of clearing tables quickly. Prices have gone up, but it's still a good deal for what you get. I like their sandwiches and ox tail soup, but lately over been getting their Asian Chicken Salad. It's a good mix of shredded cabbage, chicken, nuts, and fried wonton skins. Mix with their Asian salad dressing, it's delish! The M has other options for dining, but this is the place if you don't want a formal sit down restaurant where you order from a menu. The Vig is convenient, inexpensive, and satisfying.

The oxtail Soup l, cold, over cooked. Very salty meat was terrible the price is too pricey
    Jun X.

Please do not buy oxtail Soup, they served cold, 1pc of vegetable and the vegetable was over cooked. Very salty and the taste of the meat was terrible, The presentation of the oxtail soup was not as good as expected as the price is $23.99 too pricey for that kind of food they served. Wasted money. I was so very disappointed. Negative zero star was not enough to be given for this kind of food.

I guess I'm being a little tough because of their reputation but I felt the food was way overpriced, there were four of us and we did not order a ton of food. We ordered sandwiches, burgers, fries, and sodas. Our bill was over $100! Usually, most casino food is either very good and overpriced or ok and a value. The food was just okay, and definitely not as good as I have had at other short-order stands in other casinos. I would not really call it a deli either, it had very few actual deli-type foods. It is a burger and pizza stand with a few other items. The staff was disengaged and poorly trained. Ask them a question about a menu item and we would get answers like I don't know, what does the menu board say as they shrugged. Ask for suggestions and they just shrugged again, one of the women behind the counter said "I' don't really eat here so I don't know what's good". We should have left right there if the staff doesn't like the food. And for that premium price, we had to seat ourselves, take our food to our table, get our own condiments, and fill our own drinks. As if we were at Burger King or some other fast food place.

Pros: *Pretty good food * Nice place, clean, busy kitchen * Good amount of seating but can get busy * Service is pretty fast and the cashiers were really nice Cons: * N/A Extra: * Easy simple menu * Great place for a quick bite

The bad news is the rest of the sandwich was disappointing. I ordered the turkey and salami on sourdough. For my toppings I got tomato, onion, pickle, mayo, oil and red wine vinegar. After all it was Friday and I can always eat some good soup with a decent sandwich. I tried the soup first. It was so not hot that it was thick like paste! It was extremely salty and had a very bad fishy taste from the clams. Almost where I wonder if they were spoiled. I threw the remainder away. As I unwrapped the sandwich, I had to look back at my order to see if I ordered the kids size or something. Not only did it appear small in length, but there was hardly any meat on the sandwich. As you can see from the pictures, the turkey is barely even an ingredient at this point. Such a sad excuse for a sandwhich. Like I said though, the sourdough bread itself is great. Everything else, not so much. Such a shame. I was really looking forward to having a nice fresh sandwich shop close by.

I wanted an excuse to check out Southern Highlands properly and get another Yelp review, and I realized that I had plans not too far away. I can't seem to recall trying their Porchetta ($18.00) before, which is strange since I always like to try that sandwich if it's an option. Although they don't seem to do crispy skin here, they do have tasty pork with some great pops of flavor in the form of spicy peppers, pickled onions, and capers. The fluffy ciabatta did a great job of holding everything together but easily yielding to bites, and arugula is always fun. The included side salad is small but fresh, and the vinaigrette is nice and creamy. The Ham ($17.00) is pretty standard and straightforward. The baguette is a little tougher than the Porchetta, but the sandwich is overall as solid as at their other locations. The lettuce and tomato aren't bad but are out of place if you're comparing this to a traditional French sandwich. I believe the Raspberries & Pistachio Tart ($7.25) was a new taste for me too, and it was a good combo. The crumbly shell, pistachio cream, and actual pistachios went nicely with the lightly tart and sweet raspberries. Complimentary water is available, dispensed from one of those motion-sensor water bottle fillers. It was clean, but not ice-cold like at their other locations. I was happy to see that it was busy here, unlike most of my visits to their now-shuttered Le Cafe Central. The decor also is the nicest of their locations, especially with the nearby outdoor patio just past the open doors giving a very homely feel. The overall design just feels the most congruous too, like they didn't have to expand the dining area or incorporate an oddly out-of-place bar. Le Cafe Du Sud is a good option for French sandwiches and pastries for this part of town, although it's not quite the best in town. Hopefully they do continue to succeed here since that neighborhood would feel much emptier without them.
