Mike from Viking is AWESOME! I have First American Home Warranty and the previous HVAC contractor they sent out misdiagnosed the system twice. Never took the time, cost me tons of money. I told them the issue was a connectivity problem either the thermostat or the control board in the unit. Mike came out but because we had lost power during the storm the unit reset so he couldn't read an error code, he said he'd keep the work order open and come back so as to diagnose the system correctly. He did, sure enough the circuit board was fried. Ordered and new one and within 24 hours had it replaced! I will only let Viking touch my HVAC system from now on! read more

I had Cinch home warranty ( I am canceling my contract with them ) and they sent me Viking Heating and Air, the owner who is also the technician diagnosed it as another company must have wired the control board wrong and he refused to fix it and he was rude to us . Cinch refused to send someone else out to double check the diagnosis and they refused to refund me the $100 Deductible I paid for nothing. Turns out I hired Rocklin Heating and Air and the technician said it wasn't wired wrong, it was just unplugged!!! He plugged it back in and my heater is working now! Be warned! As a new homeowner, the last thing you want to do is worry about mishaps within your first few days or even weeks in your home. I read many insightful reviews about Mark and how helpful he was during his visits. So we were thrilled to learn he was also going to help us out! He came in asking only two things: 1. Where were the thermostats? 2. Where upstairs was our attic? My boyfriend showed him where and he got straight down to business. Mark cleared up some "sludge" which was blocking the heat from blowing through the vents into the whole house. Shortly after this, voila, WE HAD HEAT! What we greatly appreciated was the fact that Mark was leaving the ticket open for another week, just to make sure things were in working order for us. My experience echoes a lot of the others in this review. First American home warranty claim gone completely messed up. Dude (Mark) shows up, ask me what was wrong. I told him about some of the noises that I was hearing and that it wasn't cooling, he spoke to me in a very condescending manner "Big machine, big machine" * motions to show how big* "that means it takes really big energy." when I began to explain further, he cut me off and said he would just figure it out. He got on to my roof, my work office is directly underneath the system, I heard him on his phone for about 15 minutes talking to someone, then he came down said it's unrepairable and that he was going to submit my report. Once again, condescendingly, he says "it's broke and can't fix it, it's too old." I would never recommend this company to anyone, and clearly by these reviews, neither would anyone else read more

Marc came to my house today to fix my air conditioner. Turns out it was totally fine it was over worked because I like my house very cold year around. Marc could have just said it's fine and left but he walked around my house and checked my air vents to insure they were open and told my husband and I about prober care of our system. He was at my house for over 40 minutes! He wasn't in a rush, answered all of our questions and was super informative. I have American Home Shield and anytime I get someone, they are usually awful to be honest. But I would definitely request this company if I have any issues in the future. Due to my system showing no issue he offered to keep the order open to avoid me going through the hassle of having to file another claim. Which showed amazing customer service. I bought my clients a home warranty. A few weeks after they moved in the heat stopped working. They put a claim in with their home warranty and were given this terrible company to work with. The tech came out and "fixed it" it stopped working again within a few days. They called him again. He came back out. He went on the roof (where the unit is located) and they heard a huge thud. It sounded like he had fallen off the roof. He ended up breaking a part of their unit in half!! He basically told them he wasn't sure what to do and that nothing like that has happened to him in all the years he has been doing this job. Viking was used through my home owners insurance. They called right about for next day service. But the guy shows us and already seemed like he didn't want to be at work. Explained my issues with the AC unit and thermostat. The old owners had a welded cage around the unit that was fairly open. Guy says I can't work on it with the cage. I said "no problem. I'll cut it off" he says "I don't have time for this" walks to his truck and leave. It took me a minute- 1 min 15 sec to grab a hacksaw and cut it off. I went to go get him and he was driving off. Worst customer service. He called to reschedule and I told him I got another company through Old Republic home insurance and he hung up after hearing that. read more

The guy came early in the morning banging on my door which I want expecting because I usually get a courtesy call from any other company. He was rude from the moment I opened the door and being very condescending. He was consistently rude throughout the whole visit as a I tried to kill him with kindness. He wrote out a list of things that needed to be addressed told me it would be between $7K-$15K as my home warranty didn't cover any of it. Stacy, the person in the office was courteous, accommodating, professional, and constantly kept me updated. On the day of the appointment, I got a call from Mark, with his ETA. He arrived promptly, which I appreciate. Mark was able to diagnose and correct the issue in a very professional manner. I was very impressed with his knowledge and courteous nature. Our heater broke and the home warranty company assigned Viking Heating and Air to come out to take a look. It was difficult to get it fixed (two weeks with no heat) due to some miscommunication issues stemming from the home warranty company. Viking did not end up doing the repairs as they recommended another company more specialized in the repair needed do them. Five stars is for the receptionist Stacy (not sure how she spells her name) going above and beyond to help me resolve the communication issues with the home warranty company even when Viking was no longer going to be involved or do the repairs (which another company is doing). I called and left a voicemail less than an hour later a lovely receptionist named Stacy called me and asked me a few questions about what was wrong with my ac. Stacy informed me that my ac would be serviced the next day and she was going to call to set up a time because she was going to see if the technician (Mark) could do it today. I got a phone call a few hours later and Mark came and fixed my ac that very day! Super friendly! Very professional! Clean. Will use them again! Mark is great! I am a current renter for the house my friends and I reside at. We were experiencing some air conditioning trouble recently. We were unsure if it was our thermostat or the HVAC system on our roof. We contacted our landlord to have someone come out and check it out. Who knew that the gentleman from Viking Heating & Air Conditioning would be so knowledgeable. Mark was the one who came to visit our home. Our landlord said the technician would come by between the hours of 11am to 3pm. Mark showed up at our house at 10:30am! Talk about being on time! As he began investigating our HVAC system on the roof, he did not discover anything wrong with the ventilation system or the HVAC itself. He used his device to override the system and sure enough we had cool air being pumped around our home. It was not until I mentioned to him that when we switch the thermostat to cool and auto, we did not hear any parts running but when we ran the heater something would turn on. Within minutes of telling him that he popped off the thermostat, switched up some of the cables and noticed one wire was in the wrong place. Mark made the adjustment and the air conditioning was fixed! Before he left, Mark helped me out with understanding how to program our thermostat and also some tips for any ceiling fans and how they are suppose to function. Mark was polite and intelligent, I could not believe how much I could be saving with my bill and also some quick easy adjustments I could make along the house to help have a cooler home in the summer time and a heated home in the winter time. Viking was sent to us by our property management company because they work with our home warranty company as well. The gentleman who came was nice but seemed genuinely disinterested and annoyed. He gave me some tips to help our AC run more efficiently but honestly it felt more like a scolding than a friendly educational moment. When he was done I had to kind of press him to explain to me what he found rather than him just telling me. Not to mention, our AC was still broken when he left and had he have peeked in our attic he would have found the problem. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. We used them through Old Republic as a Warranty call (we just moved in). The Employee was RUDE from the beginning. My husband said "we just moved her from Arizona. In Arizona we had our units on the roof. Here we have a unit inside and outside. Can you explain the difference?" The employee replied "I am not here to explain things to you. I am here to fix your problem". Then he finds problem and says your have a blockage. There should be a pipe going outside where the water goes". My husband said ...."oh really..... I wonder where it is located......let's go outside and see. Employee says "I am not your landscaper. Its not my job to find it". We are shocked and appalled at this point. If we were not desperate to fix we would have asked him to leave". He fixes blockage (a 5 minutes job). And my husband says what about all the water in the pan? Are you going to get the water out? Employee says "not my job". Get a shop vac. We say we don't have a shop vac. He looks at us like we are from another planet. We were APPALLED at the Employee's unprofessionalism and communication style, tone and demeanor. Its not WHAT you SAY....its HOW YOU SAY IT. Employee could have said" I am sorry that's not part of our scope of work. Or I am sorry, for liability reasons we cannot go into your yard" or make up some stuff and say it nicely! Called the owner to give him feedback about our experience and he defended his employee saying "The Warranty company does not pay us a lot so there is a lot we don't do" WOW...how about you just then dont contract with Warranty Companies instead of treating customers rudely and unprofessionally. Mark came out to look at our AC to see what was wrong with it. He came in with his mask on which is important right now. He took the time to explain to me what was wrong and tips to help with keeping it running like it should. He told me what parts we needed and got back to us as soon as he could. He was back as soon as the parts came and fixed the AC before a heat wave was about to happen thankfully. He went through the tips with me one more time to make sure I remembered them and was done fast and effectively. We have medical issues that require prompt attention. I called our home warranty and it was going to take a week to get service from the first company. Viking was next on their list and they came out early the very next day. Some of what was needed had to be ordered. Then they were back out here 2 days later with everything they needed to make complete repairs. The technician wore a mask when he was in the home or outside around us. When the furnace stopped working yesterday we called the company from whom we had purchased a home warranty. They sent out a tech from Viking today. I believe his name was Mark. (Service order 19331). Great guy! On time, polite, knowledgeable, had the right parts with him to fix the problem in about five minutes. Explained everything. He also gave me some excellent advice: when an electrical device is not working, turn it off. We had not done that with the furnace. As a result, the motor was too hot to touch. We had been without heat for over a week during the cold spell when the temperatures dipped down into the 20s at night. Technicians from another company came out twice prior to him and claimed to have fixed the problem. When the system still was not putting out heat my husband called the home warranty company and requested they send someone from a different company, so they sent Mark from Viking. He was patient and listened while I explained what had transpired over the past several days - even though I'm sure I was rambling and not using the proper technical terms LOL Long story short (too late!), Mark got our heater up and running in a very short amount of time. Turned out it was a simple fix that the other repair company overlooked. Mark also provided easy and useful tips for using the heating and AC to help keep our energy bill down. I think I have to give a star to write a review. TERRIBLE. Didn't even tell me what was wrong when I asked he told me there was a bunch of parts missing. Um the last tech said the compressor is bad but I won't have time to for you in so of you want it done right away to tell the Warrenty company to send someone else out. Even the home Warrenty said he has never heard of these parts and recommends a 2nd opinion. 1. I will not be renewing my Warrenty through old republic! They send out extremely unprofessional one man does it all (cheap and lazy) 2. This guy is fraud! So many possibilities for a better review all failed. Told technician primary reason was because the AC wasn't cooling house well enough and on its best day cannot get below 80degrees, to which he immediately cut me off and said that an AC unit can only get a house 15 below the outside temperature. Umm okay if its 80 degrees outside, my house still wont bring that down much lower. So he didn't even gauge or check the AC unit. Also needed him to check a leak in the upstairs attic, which he did find the leak coming from an evap coil, to which he said he was "'too fat" to get the job done. Expressed my concerns about AC not working efficiently, and he just passed the buck and said I needed to contact another company. Didn't even check the AC unit outside. No shoe covers, and a rag for a mask during covid. He had to get into the attic through my master bedroom, asked to use my toilet, I told him he could use the one downstairs to which he looked real annoyed. Sorry don't want another mans waste in my master bath. Sorry but 1 star for a technician that basically wasted my time and was dismissive and annoyed with me for what I feel are common questions to be prepared for. Wear some shoe covers people. read more
