This review is solely based on the baked goods. I had the flan which sits on top of a slice of El Niño cake ($3). I also had a cream empanada. The flan was ok nothing that would set it apart from competitors. The empanada was not my style. The filling was not a smooth custard, it was more of jello texture with a hint of rice flavor. Wow, what a great place. The tortes are seriously spectacular. I had the Carnitas and my wife had the grilled chicken. You really have to be hungry to finish the sandwich. We where debating to try some of the pastries. We broke down and went we went with it. They were fantastic . This hole in the wall something you should not pass up. You will be very sorry that you did. Only only problem is that they are not open on Sunday. I was presently surprised. They have rice pudding and flan too. This just got added to my list of my guilty pleasures for me today. Beef taquito platter at Villas Bakery on Crossley and Ramon. I took my first bite and thought to myself, hmmm that's different what's going on here? For the filling, they're using shredded beef that's been cooked with potato, tomato, onions and ?...... and the guacasauce on top went really well with it all! The salsa they serve with them goes perfectly with the taquitos as well. Carnitas taco on the side was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. I think they make their own tortillas, and the tortilla was really good IMO. The generous portion of carnitas was served over two corn tortillas with a spread of beans, cilantro and onion. It was enough filling to make two tacos really so I felt the $2.50 price was a good deal. The extra bonus? $5 for the taquito plate!!! Just make sure you bring cash, it's all they'll take. The great value for their food gets them a fifth star in my book! read more

Scored an awesome craigslist deal that I couldn't pass on so I drove 1.5 miles from OC to pick up a camera. After driving for so long your boy obviously was getting hungry. I asked some brats aka my lil cousins what they wanted to eat and they suggested Mexican. My favorite pan dulces are the cream filled emapnada looking ones and they had 4 flavos here. After staring at the pastries I took a glance of their menus. Average prices per dish 6.50. WTF. I usually ask the employees what their recs are and she suggested the lengua. I wasn't craving lengua so I asked her what would be better the guisado pollo or the chili verde? She couldn't decide but she did ask me if I wanted to sample both. I SAID HELL YEAH. She handed me to gnarly sized samples and boom. The pollo guisado won my heart. I ordered the pollo guisado platter and the two brats opted for the asada plate and asada quesadilla. The only negative thing about this spot was it was CASH ONLY. I was at my atm limit because I pulled out cash for the camera. Luckily one of the brats I had with me had cash. I knew I had a reason for bringing them. Got a cake from there for a birthday on a Saturday. Was highly recommended. The cake was the last one on display case. Once we got home and cut into the cake just fell apart and had weird taste didn't even know it had almonds as it was not noted anywhere. Once I called next business day they told me the owner wasn't there Rosario to call back the next day. I called next day and again she wasn't there but magically got on the phone call a few seconds later. Horrible customer service once I explained to her my concern she went off with an attitude saying I have must taste other tres leches cakes that were not hers and hung up.
