The ideal number of buffet items for photo purposes is four or five, but for culinary enjoyment the ideal is around nine. At Villa Brazil, my compostions get overly crowded. Given the action-packed steam table I haven't paid enough attention to the barbecue section, where tonight I enjoyed short rib and chicken. While I always appreciate the myriad meats, the salads might be underrated.
Food appeared fresh and I noticed they replenished dishes. They ran out of Brazilian cheese bread by 7 PM, odd considering it's a Brazilian place!! Absolutely nothing was labeled and workers were not so friendly to help identify dishes. Had a few nibbles, all average. The desserts all looked homemade and fabulous, but again no labels. The chocolate coconut cake tasted like almond joy, very sweet. I would be interested in trying the others, perhaps if they ever get labels so I know what I'm ordering.
Ordered: Regular Buffet (~$13) Churrasco BBQ only (~$13) Aya's take: We stopped by for a quick bite and upon entering, we didn't really understand the best way to do the buffet since there aren't many signs up. There's a window/counter in the back right where you can order Churrasco BBQ aka the Brazilian meats. Those are absolutely well worth it. I like that it's weight-based and everything we had was well-seasoned, fresh, and tender. The actual Buffet items weren't that worth it, in my opinion. First of all, most of the food wasn't labeled making it hard to know which items had pork in them. I think people with food allergies might also be concerned about this. Nothing I had was really needed aside from the white rice, black beans, and plantains which are the only 3 I would recommend alongside the meats. Good try but I'd only come back for the meats.
I've been to Villa Brazil a couple of times, and I'm always surprised by how good it is. Not often would I say I've enjoyed buffets, but they do something different here. You might not always know what it is exactly that you're getting as you dish yourself a plate a food, but you'll always enjoy it. Also, DO NOT sleep on their cakes. Somehow this place not only has good buffet food, but they also have a huge selection of unique cakes that are delicious and surprisingly moist. Make sure you get a slice or two for at the end of your meal, or just to take home for later.
They have a wide variety of different foods, they have bake chicken, fried chicken, lasagna, bake fish, lamb, rice, beans, fresh salad, fruit, and vegetables. Always putting out fresh hot food. Different varieties of cakes, fresh squeezed juices. I have been to this establishment twice, and they always have different food on the menu.
Words cannot even begin to describe my experience at this spot, 5 stars won't even do it justice. To start off, when I went in the place, it was pretty packed, wasn't sure if I was gonna be able to find any seating but fortunately something cleared up for me. The size of the place is pretty nice and is moderately lit to set in a cozy vibe within the restaurant. The selection here is much more varied than what I've seen in Point Brazil, up to the point that I didn't know where to start. Eventually I filled my plate with Seafood yellow rice, steamed veggies, both chicken and roast beef and a plantain for good measure. When I finally sat down to eat, it's been some time that I've had something that held me captive in mind and body. I would compare it to, that one true love of your life fixing you a nice hot meal that she put her whole vertebrae in to where she almost throws her back out. (I'm crazy, I know.) That's what this food tastes like, I've never felt this type of euphoria in awhile it's almost addictive. After my lunch, I came back to the corner to get some dessert. I had my eye on that chocolate on chocolate triple layer cake which wad about $7. I thought it was a tad steep but I was so amazed by the food here I couldn't pass on the cake. It was worth it, the taste was intimate to the senses, the texture was pretty filling, I couldn't eat the whole thing, at least not after the meal I had so I'm having that for later. This place pretty much performed the equivalent of a no hitter in baseball, i couldn't detect any flaws at all. If anything, this place has set an extremely high bar in what I expect out of a Brazilian buffet. There are others in the area I'm itching to try to see how they compare but trust me, YOU WILL SEE ME AGAIN! Eu te amo tanto, nada mais no mundo se compara.
Usually an amazing spot for Brazilian meats and other food, great value. I had only one bad experience here before tonight and I couldn't figure out why. I always ask for medium rare and it comes out perfectly but the meat that night was terrible and overcooked, fat unrendered and almost raw. He also cut the pieces of meat too big and gave way too much when I asked for a single serving. Today, the same kid that served me last time was there and I finally figured it out when the exact same thing happened. Meat was horribly overcooked and yet the fat was basically raw. Overserved and undercut too. I asked for a single slice of sirloin as well and he said picanha and sirloin were the same cut of meat in a condescending tone. Boi I've been coming here for months now twice a week at least and have gotten both sirloin and picanha. I know Villa serves them as different cuts. This kid has no business being behind the BBQ and he's always on his phone. Please get rid of him if you are reading this Villa before he ruins your goated establishment. I'll keep coming here as the main BBQ guy is amazing and never misses but I will turn around and leave immediately as soon as I see that tall kid manning the BBQ from now on, I advise everyone else to do the same to send a message.
Astoria's filled with a variety of diverse, high-quality options, such as this Brazilian steam table spot, one of a few in the neighborhood. I first came here many years ago after a trip to MoMI, but now that I have friends living nearby, this is pretty much a monthly stop for me. Eating here is an exercise in meat-and-carbo-loading. My go-to is the always delicious corn pudding, but I've enjoyed many of their dishes, like feijoada (bean and pork stew), chicken spinach rolls, prime rib, fish, lasagna, and rice and beans. Sometimes the fried sweet plantains are tender and sweet, just the way I like 'em, but more often than not they're rubbery. Step up to the order window in the back and you can get churrasco-style meats like hanger steak, sausages, chicken hearts, etc. It's a hit or miss; I've gotten really tender and juicy meat, but I've also gotten dry, chewy, unappetizing bricks. They also have savory baked goods, along with a visually mouthwatering display of cakes, pastries, and other desserts behind the register. The pão de queijo is puffy, savory, and cheesy like a good one should be. Not a big fan of their sweets though. The queijadinha (coconut muffins with grated coconut, cheese, and condensed milk), guava cake, guava cheesecake, and coconut flan were all tooth-achingly sweet. You can give 'em a try if that's your thing. It's a great neighborhood spot to get takeout or sit down and enjoy your meal with a tart, refreshing passion fruit juice.

Today the food was a great. The place was very crowded and the hot food options were among my favorites: creamed corn, baked cauliflower and shrimp yucca to name some. The meat was also juicy yoday and very well flavored. Unlike steakhouses the meat here is flavored. Go to the man in the back and tell him the meat you want. You even get to pick the piece hiy want after he slices it. I haven't tried their dessert before so no comment there. A big negative about this place is they do not label their food so you never know what it is unless you ask them. It's annoying but boy to hats to guess what's in some of the items. Also check to see how much they are charging you before you pay. It's normal to get overcharged and the cashier often gets annoyed when you ask about prices. I'm still thinking about the steak that I got from this restaurant!! It a buffet style, pay by the pound place that serves a plethora of Brazilian food. They have a window in the back where you can order different cuts of meat, all which were cooked to perfection(hanger steak was my favorite)! The added green sauce made it even better! The buffet bar has premade dishes and sides that you can pick from yourself. I got a little of everything and it all tasted amazing. They have a good amount of seating and the service was quick! This is the only rodízio that I know of in NY that charges by the pound, and the food here is more authentic and tastes better than what I have had at Texas de Brazil or Fogo de Chao. I came here for lunch on 5/30/26, and the food was scrumptious. I had some picanha, chicken sausage, pork sausage, and cabbage for my entree; and flan-cake (new!!!) for dessert. Sara rang me up, and my order was only $18.53-a lot cheaper than if I had gone to a rodízio at a restaurant. The place is a bit small, so seating is tight, but it is worth it to come here if you want true Brazilian Street Food at bargain basement prices! read more

Dangerous! Especially for people like me who eats with their eyes! Delicious Brazilian barbecue meat and buffet food by the pound! This place is very straight forward. Grab a plate and start grabbing the goods from the buffet bar or daily barbecue meats from the guy behind the counter - hanger steak, beef ribs, sausage, sirloin steak, and etc. At the buffet bar, we got the oxtail stew which was really, really good! I am a regular at this restaurant. it is a super practical space with the by the weight style dining, you just come in serve yourself and pay for what you are about to eat. i love that as it cuts the time of ordering and waiting, so you come in and go straight to enjoying a meal within seconds. another thing that i love about this restaurant is the appetizers they have and juices, you can just come in and get a quick appetizer to go and it also takes seconds as the food is already there in a bakery style presentation, its just point pay and go. one of the main things to keep in mind about this restaurant that a lot of people are not aware of is the fact that they do not only serve marvelous deserts here, they also can make those deserts for you to serve it at your home. you can come and order a cake to be made by order and have it showcased in your event. i did that for my wedding and i got a chocolate and coconut cake and it was so divine i cant even! my friends talk about the cake still. the great thing is that you can order the cakes on fridge or no fridge version, it ll depends on how moist you want the cake or on the fridge space you may have for your event. the no fridge one is a little drier none the less as delicious. keep in mind that you need to show up in person to order the cake and need to pay at last half of the price of the cake for the order, they take cards. now for the price and sizes: the cakes start at $65 dollars and i think as long as you don`t want anything too exotic and crazy the price is based on the size of the cake and not on the flavor, this price cake was the one i got and it was enough for a party of 35ppl. they do make larger cakes and they have 2 shapes square and circle, i got the square and that shape helped to have more slices out of the cake. i love this restaurant and if you love this restaurant too, try to see all the other services they have cause they are amazing at all they do and they have many things going on that most people do not know and they should. read more
First time back during pandemic. We were here just before our son was born early January 2020. Literally 1 year later we came back and things have changed due to COVID-19. All of the indoor dining tables and chairs have been pushed up against the wall. No indoor or outdoor dining available. There is a line to the buffet and kitchen window for the meats. Only 3 people are allowed in the self serve salad bar/buffet area. Plastic gloves are available and recommended for use when self serving at the salad bar. Social distance is practiced here and everyone is wearing a mask. Both staff and customers here seem to follow the CDC guidelines very well. I picked up my usual platter of meats with seafood paella, plantains and chicharron. My platter some how came out to $23!!! That's a first! In the past, my for the same amount, my platter usually comes out to $12-16 at most without a drink. Prices definitely have gone up. The chicken wrapped in bacon was very dry. The chicken hearts today were over cooked, dry and hard. Everything else was A-okay! Verdict - $23 lunch scared me away. read more
Amazing spot for any meal! My bf and his friends are always raving about this spot but I didn't get to try it until 4 years later! There were plenty of people dining in. For those going take out, even during COVID there were social distancing precautions in place to ensure everyone can pick their items from the hot bar safely. #1 tip is not to load up too much from the salad and hot bar so you can leave room for the Brazilian meats at the window! read more
Came here to try their Brazilian BBQ for lunch. It's a few blocks away from the Steinway street subway station so pretty accessible. The seating area is in the front of the restaurant when you walk in. There is a hot food buffet, a salad bar, and a meat station in the back. Like most Brazilian BBQ places, you pick your own food and pay based on how much your plate weighs. The pricing system here is a little confusing though. Depending on what types of food you get (ex. only hot food buffet, hot food buffet + meats, etc.) the price per pound varies. For the meat station, there is an ordering window where you can see the people cooking the meats in the back. You have to ring the bell and someone will come cut the meats that you want. The guy cutting the meat was very nice as were the two cashiers. For the hot food buffet I tried a little bit of everything and it all tasted so good. I especially liked this croquette that had corn in it and a stew that had beef strips in it because the sauce was so good! The ribs were really good as well. For the meats I got the chicken sausage, hanger steak, and sirloin. The chicken sausage here is much better than the one at Copacabana. It's much more flavorful and less salty. The hanger steak was pretty good as well and not too tough. The sirloin was delicious!! I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. It also had a little bit of fat on it so it was really juicy. I would say the food here is better than at Copacabana. The meats aren't as dry and the hot food buffet has more options that I actually wanted to try. I ended up paying more here though ($11) but I think that's because I got more food so the pricing between the two places should be fairly similar. Loved this place! read more
LOVE THIS PLACE! It's a food by the pound place and you will always see Brazilians eating here. It's a buffet type setup where you go to the counter and you serve yourself, then there is a window for the churrascaria. The window consists of the rotisserie meats, just ask them what they have for the day. The food: I always get the short ribs, hanger steak, chicken hearts, stewed oxtail, corn stuffing, and rice with lentils with fried onions. The chicken and pork sausages are nice but a tad salty. Really great casual option, whether you're looking for lunch or dinner, takeaway, or just dessert. Forget Whole Foods' prepared food bar! Villa Brazil has everything from soup to fish to fruit. Everything looks clean and fresh, and not like it's been sitting there for long. Weigh your platter at the register to pay. I'd most recommend their brisket and chicken drumsticks as the meat is cooked so tenderly. Also love the sweet plantains. Try the traditional Brazilian soda, Guarana, too! They also have desserts in display cases - pictured. Don't forget to check their additional cakes behind the counter! I've come in several times just to grab dessert to go. Recommend their tres leches and passion fruit cakes (pay by the slice.) I don't think their smaller chocolates and truffles are worth the price, though. read more

Went with a group of 6 on a Sunday for brunch. Even though we made a reservation, still had to wait about 10 minutes. The staffs were very friendly and attentive. I think it's a nice concept that you get a variety of meats freshly out of the oven with the waiters bringing the meats to your table. I liked the beef parts more than pork parts because pork was way too well done thus too dry and tough. Salad bar included salad, cheese, cured meats, small desserts, yogurt, and fruits. read more
CHECK YOUR PRICES!!! They are not consistent and because we are not Spanish speakers we constantly get overcharged. Asked for clarification why I'm being charged $8.99 per pound she didn't clarify. Simply showed me my food then bagged it up without fully explaining. Never got salad bar or fish but charged for it. The food is really good it's a bummer I keep having inconsistent experiences. Old review: This place has great affordable prices with nice quality food. Went in today and really upset me was they charged me the extra $1 per pound for the "salad bar" I didn't get. She said it was for my vegetables that I got from the main buffet bar. My little 2 small pieces of broccoli upped my order $1 per pound so $2 total. More principle then anything. Not cool. read more

Great selection of products really enjoyed the food the BBQ section was fresh and savory. the service was a bit rude it seems the rush hour traffic got to them but it did not spoil the food! it came up pricey cause we over loaded on the other buffet section so be weary of what you end up getting read more

Love this place but I have to drop it down to 3 stars because the cashier ripped me off! who knows if the owner told her to do it or she did it on her own accord, thinking customers wouldn't notice. It's Brazilian bbq by the pound here and they have different pricing depending on what you stack onto your plate. It's like $6.99/ lb for salad bar only, $7.99/ lb for buffet section and BBQ, $8.99 for buffet, bbq, and salad bar mixed items, and $9.99 for only BBQ meats. Very reasonable and affordable prices for delicious food! However, I was charged the most expensive option ($9.99 /lb for BBQ only) when it should have been the $7.99 option since I mixed 4 buffet items into my bbq meats (buffet foods= broccoli, crispy pork bits, shrimp gravy on the bottom, and corn/egg. BBQ = pork sausage, top sirloin, chicken hearts). I only noticed this after I was 1/4 into my meal and looked at my receipt. So I took some pictures to post here so I can warn Yelpers about it if it happens to them. Most diners throw out their receipt or don't look at it all but definitely check to see if they're charging you the correct price!!! read more
