2.5 stars. This food is okay. It's not great. It's not terrible. It's one of those places people eat at because it's the only choice in the area. In all my visits, I've only had one notably off experience when our server seemed to forget our table, though to be fair, they were juggling a large party. We decided to give it another shot, and honestly, I still stand by my solid 2.5 star rating, even accounting for that hiccup. The interior is exactly what you'd expect from a Mexican/Tex-Mex place...topped off with a dramatic, pointy chandelier in the center of the dining room. I personally refuse to sit beneath it as it triggers my anxiety, but it certainly makes a statement. read more

Once again, a disappointing experience at the Haslet location. As usual, my 2 crispy beef tacos, which were very tasty, came with maybe 1 teaspoon of shredded cheddar. To make the meal whole, I had to pay $1.99 for a "side" of cheese. One would think the order would have an adequate amount of everything. Secondly, the shrimp in the Camarones Monterrey were extremely overdone to the point that my wife only ate half of it. Our dogs didn't seem to mind though! It was a take-out order, so we were unable to notify anyone at the time. I've emailed the location, so we'll see what happens. It's usually an "average" at best experience there. read more

Mediocrity at best. I must admit that I was super encouraged after trying their salsa. Absolutely delicious and unfortunately the highlight of the evening. We ordered their queso and it was "ok". I ordered the shrimp fajitas with cilantro lime rice and she had the enchiladas with sour cream. The fajitas fell really short. No flavor and a major disappointment. The cilantro lime rice was missing cilantro and lime....She liked her enchiladas but service was very very slow. Waitress was sweet and friendly but had way too many tables. What a great neighborhood find! Food is legit, and the service is always great. I wish it had a better bar (it's kind of small, and only one bar tender), and the patio is always closed (not sure why). Other than those two minor things, the place is super clean, and the employees seem genuinely happy to work there. My family inevitably ends up going through Taco Bell drive thru which is within a rocks throw distance from here. And Taco Bell is okay, but there are times when you crave actual Mexican food right? So we decided Villa Grande would get our service. When we walked inside it smelled so amazing! I was starving and ready to eat. The host ended up also being our server on this occasion but he was friendly and got everything just right. I ordered the Pollo de crema which has oftentimes tasted not so good at other restaurants. However, my chicken was cooked fresh and the cream was delicious! I need to make a special note about the salsa, it's SO fresh! I couldn't stop eating it. Went last week and ordered the plate that comes with a fajita taco, tamale , enchiladas and chile relleno. Sauce on relleno, was like tomato sauce and cold, bland, everything was bland. The cheese enchilada was like a rectangle cheese wrapped in a tortilla, cheese wasnt melted. The fajita taco had like three strips, the red salsa was just a rotel can. Zero stars. I used to eat here o na regular basis. The food was...decent(ish), but the service was horrible. The waitress would slam the check on the table, laugh at and berate customers, and would walk over and open the check book every couple minutes to see if the customer had already paid. Absolutely loved the Margarita! We kicked off our Saturday lunch with this Jalapeños and pineapple margarita. It was refreshing and not too sweet. I ordered the Chicken Tortilla Soup: it had a good broth base and the cheese was perfect. My only complaint was I felt they added pico del gallo in my soup so it was a more tangy then I like with the lemon added. The chips are not not made in house so they aren't greasy. I asked for the hotter salsa but the red is flavorful if your not a spicy fan. My partner order the Carne Asada y Poblano with rice and beans. If I Could give 0 I would. My family and I ate here. The chicken for the fajitas was rubbery and dry. The flautas tasted spoiled. The beans has ZERO FLAVOR. in the restroom there was no soap In The dispenser. There was a bottle with water and the leftover insides of the soap bottle but there was barely enough to pump out and what did come out didnt even suds up. We have all had stomach pains and food poisoning symptoms since eating there last night. read more

This is one of the best Tex-Mex Mexican food restaurants I've been too. The restaurant decor is very traditional and eclectic. They have music playing but it's not too loud that you can't enjoy having a conversation over dinner. They do get busy on certain days at certain times but it's that popular. I've tried a couple menu items but the best is the Steak Fajitas. The meat is always seasoned and cooked to perfection - moist and tender. Even though I'm a queso connoisseur I am not crazy about the queso. I do enjoy their salsa and the chips are perfect and never over salted. read more

This was my first time in today and honestly probably my last. The restaurant was decorated in the typical fashion, very cute. I ordered my child a kids burrito from the kids menu. It was NOT a burrito. It was a small flour tortilla with ground beef in it rolled up. Disappointing. Don't call it a burrito, it was a rolled up taco. I ordered the carne asada taco plate. It came out COLD. I didn't want to wait another half hour so I just ate it. It had no flavor. Thankfully the green sauce was the absolute best part and I drowned my tacos in the sauce. My iced tea had about 10 ice cubes and I had to ask for a booster seat 5 times. Talk about a disappointment all around. read more

This is a great little Mexican restaurant located in Newark, TX. And in close proximity to Eagle Mountain International Church and Kenneth Copeland Ministries. Which makes it a favorite place to visit when I am in town. I have eaten here frequently and the food has always been wonderful, the service superb, and the atmosphere is great as well. Most times I've been here, they have been packed. I will say however, that I won't order the Shrimp cocktail again, because it tasted like pure ketchup, in other words, it lacked the Clamato, or a little bit of the water from boiling the shrimp, and a small squirt of Fanta, to jazz it up a bit. That said, everything else I have ever had here is wonderful and the cocktail was good but not great. read more

Please don't waste your time or money! I wish zero stars were an option. Service sucked from hostess. Service sucked from waitress. Food sucked from kitchen. Service sucked from manager. Got there at 8:05. The hostess made a point to let us know they close in 55 minutes. That was our first clue. It took several minutes for the waitress to finally come out of the kitchen and make it over to our table to take our drink order. After bringing water, she took our food order. Food came out before our drinks from the bar, so we canceled drinks. Ordered some nachos. The chips were stale and chewy. Mentioned this to the waitress who told the manager. "the manager said it must have been a bad batch." We asked to see the manager. She came out and apologized. She told us that next time we should say something before we pay... First I want to say Their MARGARITAS are Amazing, the regular House on the rocks and the Skinny on the rocks!!! The food is good, it's not the best I've ever had, but it is Good! The staff is nice. They are short handed right now, but hopefully they will gambits mire. So sometimes the service is slow so order your margarita first and enjoy the chips and salsa while they make your food. My son and I came here tonight to have dinner and it was very good. I ordered the Carna Asada and enchilada plate and my son had a chille rellano plate. The service was excellent and our server never let our drinks go low and was very attentive to us. They kept bringing us fresh chips for our salsa. I stayed on hold for over 20 minutes and no one ever came back on to take my order. In the meantime, I drove to the restaurant on hold the entire time. Then it took 10 minutes to be acknowledged, only after asking for the manager. Then I was told it would take 30 minutes to cook the food, Absolutely ridiculous!!' They're very busy, so a wait is expected, but not to answer the phone. And nothing but rudeness from the staff and the manager. We ate here once before and the food was only average at best. We'll see about tonight. If I wasn't in a rush to get back home there's no way they'd get my business. read more
