Hubby and I had dinner here tonight. Restaurant was good, nothing to scream home about. Didn't not have a bad odor at all (per a previous person's review), maybe it was an off day that day. Food came out quickly and hot! Hubby had some type of chicken with Italian sauce and spaghetti dish, thoroughly enjoyed it. They made me a veggie pasta with pink sauce....delish!!! My bestie said she loves this place so we went here for lunch. They serve bread and I also got a Caesar salad. The waitress warned me it was sour but it didn't really taste like Caesar (I don't recommend). For my entree I got the chicken mushroom cannelloni. It came out piping hot, the taste was okay, not the best Alfredo, but not the worst. Shortly afterwards my stomach was bubbling and I did not feel good. The service was average, the ambiance was eh. Nothing fancy just a small hole in the wall. Typically, I wouldn't give this place another try but my bestie says I need to try their pizza... so I guess I will be back for that and give you another update. If I could leave a negative star rating, I would. It had been a few years since my last visit, and the difference is shocking--either ownership has changed or the kitchen standards have completely collapsed. We ordered a medium pepperoni pizza, chicken Alfredo, and cheese ravioli. The ravioli was the only passable item. The chicken Alfredo was genuinely disgusting--completely flavorless, with chicken that tasted like it came straight from a can. The pizza arrived cold, with a cardboard-like texture and no redeeming qualities. The food was so bad we threw away over half of it. I wish we tried this place sooner. We moved from ari from about 3 years ago and my son is SUPER picky about his NY style pizza. There's a place in Arlington where we are regular customers and my son has been eating their pizza for about 11 years now. It's a bit of a drive, but we make it because it's better than the two Italian places that we've tried in Midlothian in the last couple years. Who in the world told these people that they had a good thing going, about the place is ok iordereda slice of the supreme and spaghetti with meat sauce and a side salad with order of motz sticks . Sticks tasted like an old freezer. Pizza tasted like cardboard no flavor. We dropped into Villa Italiana with some friends and enjoyed a pleasant dinner. We were served dinner rolls which were surprisingly very good. I'm a bit weird when it comes to calzones, but I took a chance and didn't regret it. They were light like a crosswind but in the shape of a roll. The breading to cheese and topping ratio was spot on. My husband was not as big on the lasagna, but he did enjoy it and noted it's more Italian style than your typical layered noodle lasagna. Overall, it was a pleasant experience - the dining area was calm and quiet and the service was good. The only thing I would knock is that the bathroom could use some work. read more

How do you rate a restaurant that has good food but lacks efficiency ... I mean totally lacks efficiency. We were 5 out-of-towners ducking in for a quick. After waiting in the foyer for 5 minutes we decided we probably needed to find our own table. Success. Then began the wait to be recognized. It took over 25 minutes for a staffer to ask if we needed menus. It took all I had to not be snarky and say "Nah, we're just enjoying the ambiance." of which there is none. So we got menus, made a decision and ordered. It was at least another 30-40 minutes before our pizza was presented. Great pizza in terms of ingredients and flavor ... but we discovered the crust was burnt. We were already halfway through the pizza so didn't complain. We sure didn't want to wait another 45 minutes for another one! I really don't know what the issue was as every employee was busting their chops. Short staff? We drive through Midlothian all the time. Only 25 minutes away from us, the city itself has grown by leaps and bounds in the 30 years we've lived south of Dallas; but it's historic downtown is pretty much the same. Different types of businesses have come and gone and although Villa Italiana has been there since 2013, we've yet to stop in. A full blown Italian restaurant, not just a pizzeria, Villa Italiana has an unassuming pleasant vibe. When seated, one booth seat was split, which always annoys me. In a virtually empty restaurant, why seat anyone there? If it's necessary to seat people there, then fix it. Just my opinion. They had a lovely menu and service was prompt, friendly and helpful. After ordering and getting our salads, a party of 3 came in and were seated directly behind us - two exuberant children and their Mother. No one else in the place. So then I understood. I assume these two booths in front are always in rotation, closest to the kitchen, unless you ask to be seated somewhere else. So no social distancing is in use here, although there's plenty of room. This is a busy Mom and Pop place. I get it. It's about convenience; but if we return, I think we'll ask to sit in the large back dining room. We had their house tossed salads with their truly delicious homemade House dressing. The salads were basic lettuce and tomato but that wonderful homemade House dressing with its tangy bite is to die for. A few olives, red onion slices or cucumber would be nice for $3.50. It does come with some of the best rolls I've ever had in a casual restaurant. With an incredible chewy crust and airy light crumb, you could just keep on eating rolls! We ordered their hand tossed, large size, 9 topping pizza plus anchovies. I wanted to like this pizza. The crust was perfectly cooked, the toppings went all the way to the edge and it looked beautiful. It just had an unusual taste that I didn't care for. Was it the sauce or lack of it? The mushy bell peppers? I couldn't figure it out. Still, we soldiered on through two slices each and boxed up the rest for home. At home, reheated with a jarred pizza sauce, the pizza was much better. It's difficult to explain how the additional acid of the tomato sauce made such a difference. The restaurant was clean. Service was pleasant and thorough. There's parking on the street at a busy intersection; but it worked out okay, even at rush hour! We would return to try the entrees, based on reviews that I read, and perhaps try a different pizza. Menu prices are all very modest. And then there's those rolls!! Yum. read more

This is a well known place and I think I was expecting a lot more after reading all the reviews. The customer service was excellent, I will give them that. I ordered lobster raviolis and they were ok. I was disappointed with salad since they were premade sitting on plates with the to go salads and sodas. The ranch was watery but not horrible. I would return but think I will stick to pizza. Sorry no pics to post. read more

I'm not in Midlothian often but when I am, I make sure I grab a meal here! This hole in the wall restaurant tastes better than most 5 star restaurants. The people here have always been friendly. If dining in, you get unlimited rolls which are hard not to fill up on. Their salad house dressing is so flavorful- tomatoey with a little kick. I always get their lobster ravioli which comes with pink sauce and mushrooms. So many mushrooms! Save some of the rolls to dip into the sauce. I'm drooling. read more

For our little Midlothian, the pizza is the star of the show. The pasta dishes get the job done when you need an Italian fix, but we do the pizza monthly at our house. Perfect little Italian place! Perfect Pizza they have Neapolitan Pizza and deep dish Sicilian Pizza. The pizzas are amazing I like both styles, the crust is always fresh made. The owner is always present and he doesn't just run the place he cooks in the kitchen. They always serve complimentary homemade rolls and they are simple yet amazing!
