From the outside, you really wouldn't expect much, but we've heard so many good things about this place we had to give it a try. You will not be disappointed at all. I was shocked as to how many options they had and every pie looked like it was made with so much love. Let's just say, the pizza is so good, my husband came here for lunch and dinner on the same day. I had the rigatoni vodka slice which is unlike any other ziti slice I've ever had. Typical slice - they cook the pasta, throw it on top, throw some cheese on and call it a day. The way VM makes it - cook the pasta, make vodka sauce, mix is together and put it on top, top with more sauce and cheese and you have a meal on a slice of pizza. The sauce is amazing and you can taste the difference. Monte's has the best, most versatile selection of pizza flavors (is that the correct term here?) Anyway, there's at least 20 different types of pizzas you can get. Finally, I opted for the chopped eggplant and baked clam. I wasn't expecting the baked clam to be anything special, but it was THE BEST. The breading just gave it an excellent crunch. I also tried the buffalo chicken which had a nice kick and the American slice (cheese, tomato, bacon), which was my 2nd favorite slice. When I first walked in, I was overwhelmed by all the choices and all the people. However, it is clear that there's great communication behind the counter - they are efficient and move rather quickly in an assembly line type of manner. I've been to Monte's once before today. I thought it was mediocre but then all my friends kept on revisiting the place. They said it's so amazing, they had to try everything. I went with the spicy grandma because my coworker said it was very spicy and it was good, but I also went with the Hawaiian slice. The spicy grandma was good but not as spicy as I thought it was. I have been going to Villa Monte for pizza for years. I have been a customer ever since it opened after Sal's Pizza went out of business. Enzo, Tony, and Mara are three of the nicest people you will ever want to meet. Hard working first generation Americans from Italy. They know pizza. Their pizza is fantastic. The grandma pizza, the regular pizza, any other concoction you can think of. They later expended into the store next door for Italian food. It's not as good as the pizza is but it's not bad for a quick, easy bite. My advice is to stick with the pasta dishes. If you're looking for cheap, you won't get it here. They're a tad on the pricy side for pizza, but I don't mind paying a little bit more for good food and good people. It's not a chain. It's just a good family business. I moved away from the area about 6.5 years ago. I can go in there and I will be greeted like I never left. They remember I moved to Florida. They ask about my siblings and my parents. I just got off with this restaurant, I can't begin to tell you how pleasant it is to get treated with such respect and excellent customer service. Typically on Fridays we order pizza (grandma pie is to die for) cheese tortellini in a red sauce and sometimes a salad slice with feta - this is really such a hidden gem in Old Bethpage and blows La Piazza out of the water. I so highly recommend this place as they have amazing speciality pies ( & slices) and competent staff that never seems to disappoint. We had a horrible experience after calling earlier in the day to make sure they could accommodate our large party and being told it would be no problem at all over the phone. We arrived to extremely rude staff whom I was told was one of the owners. She denied us our table in the dining room after the waitress was setting it for us because she said we had to many children in our party.... It was three couples each with their children. We travelled 40 minutes to dine here and was completely appalled at how we were treated by the owner. Eventually we were able to take tables in the front of the restaurant by the "slice section" although we were ordering pies and dinner off the menu. I have to say the food was fantastic but I wouldn't give them my money again due to the way the staff acted. The owner even came up to me later on and said I was lying about calling the restaurant earlier in the day until I showed her my call list and proved to her I had done so. read more

Food is really good at Villa Monte. The entrees comes with a complimentary garden salad with house dressing that is delicious and fresh!!! My penne with sausage and broccoli was good. I think the portion size is on the small side. My boyfriend was very happy with his chicken Parmesan. It was very tasty, the sauce is like homemade. The size was very generous. When my plate hit the table, my wife said, "wow, you think you can actually finish that?" I mean... I did (but had to pack the side pasta), but it was such a fantastic portion, it was close. My wife packed hers... and warned me NOT to eat her leftovers. Everything was so good that my daughter, who is frustratingly picky, asked for a second order of meatballs. Used it once, for $29. 2 times in the past month I went in for lunch and tried to use the gift card (after confirming the balance of $71) and was rudely told the first time that they're too busy to use the Monte's gift card. The second time they told me they had changed the system and couldn't process the gift card that day. Now, two weeks after that second visit, I tried to check the balance of the card online and it will no longer read the card. Sounds like quite a scam. What a disaster on a busy Saturday night. Clearly Villa Monte is struggling like many restaurants having enough staff - but the staff that was there (including owner) was rude, unapologetic, and unhelpful. Never saw the waitress again after she took our order. We were a fairly large party and meals came out haphazard, one at a time (from cooks in kitchen) over the course of 30 minutes. Kitchen staff trying to help brought wrong meals to wrong tables consistently across the dining room. So many tables complaining. No one came to check on anything, including drinks. We had to get up and ask for help 5x before we got any attention - from a very kind busboy and hostess. Regular pie was awful. A big wet sloppy mess that slid off crust and got cold immediately from blowing air conditioners over table. Dishes were ok - but skimpy for the price. We won't go back for pizza or dinner - specialty slices to go maybe. We were trying to be patient but really disappointed that staff wasn't trying to communicate or ensure we had at least a decent experience. read more
