We had an amazing night tonight. The staff was very helpful and explained the menu and the food was delicious. They are very gluten friendly and start you off with these great corn nut snacks. We ordered the Peruvian platter which had their top three dishes. I loved the chicken and beef and my husband liked the seafood medley. We also got their ceviche medley and went with our waitress's favorite three. The Mahi Mahi was our favorite. This place is great for kids too. Who doesn't love meat and rice! The best Peruvian cuisine is literally in our backyard. My husband and I have been here at least three different times and have tried a different dish and dessert each time. The result? We loved our dining experiences each time and will keep coming back for more. Not only is their food exceptional, their customer service is personable, friendly but not over the top. This food has NO RIGHT to be so DAMN GOOD!!! I swear they raise their own chicken, catch their own fish, grow their own vegetables, hand grind their own spices. The food is BURSTING with love! The ceviche is made by the angels in heaven! The roasted chicken is perfection!!! I wish the chef was my mom so I could eat this incredible food all the time. What a lovely Mother's Day menu, topped off with a long-stemmed gift rose. The wagyu beef is just yummy, especially with the house-made unique green sauce with all fresh ingredients. We luv this restaurant, but last night was off the charts unacceptable for a restaurant. We were a party of five and it started off normal enough ordered drinks and sum appetizers. Drinks showed op warm! Yuk! Asked for new drinks, never came. At this point I'm noticing people leaving The waiter said they had a situation several times then took off. Come to find out after a hour of sitting there they had a sewer back up in the kitchen and bar area. They should have never seated us at all, and closed the restaurant for so many reasons and code violations I don't even want to start. I understand things happen but get a grip! Close the restaurant and inform people of what's going on instead of running around like idiots! Letting people sit there. The entire restaurant went over to Sullivans and had a nice rest of our long evening. It will be a while before we go back. read more

Been to this awesome restaurant twice in one week and I could go every day and still love it! The atmosphere is quiet and refined and the food is to die for. The ceviche is unmatched (my favorite being the Mixed Seafood Ceviche) and my other favorite dish is the Lomo Saltado. I love that this is a family owned and operated restaurant. It's definitely got that comfortable vibe. I'm by no means an expert in Peruvian cuisine, but I do know the food was good. I like the complimentary roasted corn a lot. The seafood soup I got tasted great but I was pretty disappointed that it looked nothing like the beautiful pictures in the menu and was missing some of the listed ingredients, like the peruvian corn. For the price, I also wish the presentation was a little nicer. Below is what it looked like right when it came out, untouched. Again, it still tasted good but just didn't match expectations. Might be back to try other items. Would give it a solid 3.5 stars, except I can't, so I'll round up. read more

This was my first time having "Peruvian" styled food. I learned that Peruvian food was greatly influenced by various other countries. I was in a group of 10. We split multiple appetizers. Also My first time having ceviche. I really liked it! I love the spices and flavor in the sauces and dips. I had my first piscos sours (delicious and dangerous). I ordered a beef plate with rice, veggies and fries (Asian influence/stir fry). Also had dessert which was amazing! Ice cream with a subtle nutty flavor from a fruit that also makes the ice cream very orange, and shortbread cookies. I recommend trying it! It's not too pricey, depending on how much you order... group of 10 though. Can only imagine, right? read more

Had a lovely dinner here tonight...after sampling the Pisco Sours in the bar with an appetizer (fabulous), we ate dinner at a nice table with a good view of the action in the kitchen (it's an open kitchen). It's a nice space, albeit unusual; I've enjoyed it here during previous incarnations (the space, not me). I had the lamb shank, which I tend to do when it's on a menu. It did not disappoint. The wine list is comprehensive and of good quality, imho. I chose the Tempranillo, which went well with the lamb. My friend had the roast chicken with a nice Riesling which was very good as well. The service was very good, from the hostess, to the excellent bartender, to the dining room. Although it did not bother us, it was a long dining experience. I think a good meal is worth the time it takes. If you're in a rush, this may be a downside, but I'd imagine that they would accommodate you if you had to rush off to another event. I'm very happy that they're in my neighborhood, I know I'll be back. read more

Took family of 4 there for the New Years Eve Dinner. While finishing our drinks and desserts we were asked to move to the bar to free up the table. It was very upsetting and unprofessional considering the food courses took quite a while to be served, my mother age 90 with us could not sit at bar, and we had spent over $500 . I asked to speak to owner and she said there was a 2 hour limit at table that was never mentioned to us prior. We will never return there. read more

Wow, this deserves 5 stars! This was some of the best food I've had this year. We went for lunch and we were seated right away. Our server suggested the Chicha Morada drink which was Peruvian purple corn, apple, lime, pineapple, cinnamon and sugar. It was so refreshing and full of antioxidant. she said. It was not too sweet, very refreshing. It was Ceviche month so we had to try the Ceviche. We ordered the shrimp ceviche. It was so fresh with plenty of shrimp marinated with leche de tigre. We had the 1/3 Rotisserie Chicken with fries and salad. The chicken was moist and the salad had a wonderful creamy dressing. We also tried the Arroz Chaufa, fried rice roasted pork, shrimp, egg omelet, pickeled vegetables and soy sauce. It had great flavor and we really enjoyed the roasted pork in it. Everything was so good and the service was attentive. We'll be back soon. read more

You can't go wrong ordering anything here at the Villa Peru. Lots of interesting Peruvian flavors and textures. The staff is very friendly and always have a big smile on their face. I've been to a couple of Peruvian restaurants in Tucson and this one by far, stands out the most, both in food and ambience. The atmosphere is wonderful listening to a live violinist play beautiful music in the background. I ordered the Ceviches Mixed Classic (american spelling), 3 glass vessels filled with an assortment of seafood and vegetables with a variety of different flavored sauces as an appetizer. The dinner plates are always an adventure teasing my palette with an assortment of different flavors. My other half usually orders the Pollo a Le Brasa (whole rotisserie chicken) knowing that she will bring home a couple of meals of deliciousness. This is our go to Peruvian diner here in Tucson. An unexpected pleasure! Handsomely decorated. Love the ambience - clean and modern. Pleasing to the eye. Ordered the Ceviche sampler with three choices - Camarones, Cangrejo and Pescado or Crab, Mahi Mahi and Shrimp served medium spicy along with Peruvian vegetables on the side. All three were absolutely deliciously. Ceviche was perfectly balanced. Attentive service tops this wonderful experience. If you want to eat outside the box try this restaurant. I'm glad I bike as much as I drive, otherwise I probably would've missed this little gem of a restaurant as I rode through Joseler shopping plaza one day on an errand and decided to stop in and try Villa Peru. I was very pleasantly surprised at the actual interior of the restaurant given how small it looks from the outside! Very clean, excellent presentation despite the middle area narrowing down and some of the two-seat tables right across from the restrooms. I was seated quickly, given lots of good suggestions, particularly because they had added a second special menu honoring the country of Peru's bicentennial. There was no delay in getting me water and there was a really neat little appetizer bowl with roasted corn, chips made from fried banana or plantain slices and green chili. Very tasty! I had one of the soup specials and the Corderito Norteno. All superbly cooked and served up quick and hot. The meat was very succulent and flavorful, and the veggies also expertly roasted and delicious. My only fault I can find is that I'd ordered a lemonade and I had to remind the waiter about that, but they quickly got one for me and did not charge me for it! Very nice to have staff that own up to their mistakes and so I tipped extra for that. The lemonade was also very good, just the right balance of sweet and tart. For dessert I tried the Picarones, a fritter made from shaping pumpkin and sweet potato batter into a donut shape, then frying it, and then sprinkling the fritters with a light dusting of powdered sugar. Again, crisp, sweet, but not overly so, and soft in the middle, but still firm and not soft and watery. So, I don't know if it's because I came at the right time of day or it's easier for the staff to handle a single person or what, but everything with the one exception was top notch and I can't recommend the place enough! read more

Awful service, awful portions, awful pricing. We waited an hour and a 1/2 to get our food. One of the dishes was literally 3 slices of potato with cream sauce for $10. I've made it from scratch at home and that doesn't take even 30 minutes. We were a party of 8 but there was no excuse as to why anything on their menu would take that long (there was only 2 other patrons in the the restaurant at the time) and the worst part is that they don't even try to give an excuse. Stopped by here for some lunch and was it amazing...really feels like you are in Peru!! This a family owned placed with the grandfather as the chef and everything is incredible!! Great relaxing environment, amazing drinks, great friendly service and amazing food!! Started with the papa rellena which was so tasty and crunchy with excellent meat and the egg inside. Next was their kid's meal chicarron de pescado which is a very generous serving coming with amazing fries! The fish was was crispy and light and Hunter really loved it!! Then had their Peruvian hamburger "amburguesa anticuchera" which was an incredible burger with fried egg and gruyere cheese!! Then came their seafood ceviche which was so light and tender! Then came the bill and shocked which is 1/3 to 1/4 of the cost of the same food compared to LA! It's such a great place, great experience, great staff, amazing food and incredible prices!! Oh and their pina picante is the best pineapple drink I have ever had especially with the little spice to it!!! 10 stars if possible!! read more

My wife and I were down from Phoenix and looking for a nice restaurant for dinner. We went to Peru last year so when this restaurant showed up we decided to give it a try. All we can say is wow. We loved everything. Family owned, very nice people, violinist playing while we had dinner and the food was amazing. We started with Ceviche of course which was very authentic. I had the Lamb Shank and my wife had the quinoa salad and we finished the night with picarones that we became obsessed with on our trip. I highly recommend this place.
