My family has always loved Villa Pizza, and while the place has gone through changes over the years, the current version is still pretty good. Located in Hadley Commons, the interior is spacious with plenty of seating--a feature I really enjoy about this cozy little area. The food is consistently good, though I've noticed the prices can fluctuate, which makes it a bit tricky to predict. That said, the quality of the food makes up for it. I had a veggie Stromboli during my last visit, and it was absolutely divine. The staff is incredibly attentive and warm. They go out of their way to ensure you're taken care of, whether it's asking if you need anything else or offering to warm up your food if it's not to your liking--you just have to ask. Their pizzas are solid, and while the prices aren't the cheapest, they're still reasonable for the quality. This is a great spot to stop by for lunch, dinner, or after a long day of shopping. One word...GROSS, as in disgusting. Initially I was not going to give a review of this place because small businesses need to survive in this economy; I also thought, well it wasn't rush hour, it's not their fault I came in at 3:00 to have some pizza; but then I considered, they had no problem selling their goods to the public so I'm going to comment on it. This was not good pizza by any stretch of the imagination. I was starving during my busy shopping day and decided to get something quick to eat so I can continue my shopping. This pizza place was in view so I opted to have a quick lunch there. I bought a slice of vegetable pizza, a rainbow-looking slice with a lot of different sauces (pesto, marinara, vodka, etc) across the top, and garlic rolls. I will take the blame for trying the rainbow-looking slice, although, I didn't even get to eat that one, I just took a bite of it. The slices were not even warm, although he had them in the oven for a few minutes This is no exaggeration.... The vegetable slice was extremely thin, which would have been fine if it was only a slice of cheese pizza; but it was vegetable pizza... so it was wet/soggy, with imitation cheese, tasted like anchovies and in a word, gross; I wanted to puke. As for the garlic roll, thank goodness for the sauce... That was a $12 meal; which is not a bad price, if it was eatable. What a waste of cash!!!! Next time I'll just starve. read more

We did some cheesesteaks from here the other night and have zero complaints. Nice amount of meat in there, wife did chicken and I did steak and we were both very happy. The appetizers are another story. These were the worst meatballs I've tasted in a while. Rubbery and dense, all cut in half... a mess. No bone in wings, and the boneless wings were soggy. The blue cheese that came with them was just some generic pre-packaged container. No effort here. I will say, the jalapeno poppers were made with cream cheese, not cheddar, which I like much more and the garlic stick things were really good. So highs and lows on apps. The Heartbleed panic of 2014 has just stricken the Internet. I am risking everything to post this message. A life lesson lies within. I'm a long time fan of Villa Pizza. My wife, not so much. In the name of happy wife, happy life, I've traversed hills and crossed many dales with the hopes of finding great pizza. To my mind, it was already at Villa Pizza. We wanted a quick pie tonight so I ordered from Villa without telling her (the whole ask for forgiveness rather than asking for permission thing). Her search (and hence, mine) is over. We found her new favorite pizza right back at my old favorite pizza spot. The pizza was absolutely perfect. She even said it rivaled her all-time favorite pizza place. That's high praise. This goes to prove two things. The first - I'm usually right about food. The second - I'm smart enough to know that, when it comes to wives, being right isn't nearly as important as acceding to even her misguided whims. You'll be proven right in the end. read more

I am in town on business and ran to Target to pick up an item I forgot. I was looking for a place to eat and saw this place from across the parking lot. As soon as I was in the door I was greeted warmly and the young man at the counter explained that there was pizza behind the counter and he listed off what was there. I opted for the stuffed slice and some garlic knots. He warmed them up in the pizza oven and had them out hot and fresh like they were just made. The pizza was absolutely delicious and so were the garlic knots and the sauce. Very nice, perfect end to a long busy day. Definitely a place I will go to again when I am here. read more

The pizza here is surprisingly good. It's cheesy and saucy and comes out hot. My family and I usually stop in when we're shopping in the plaza. The service is friendly and there are a lot of tables to sit on. We've only ever tried cheese slices and on one occasion ordered a whole pie and each time the pizza was yummy. Last Sat Nov 5, I was at South Plainfield's Villa Pizza at 615p. The Manager came across as not honest to me in how he much charges $ different to customers based on whether they are paying by card or cash. I asked the Manager if there was a minimum to buy with a credit card, he said, no minimum. I did not have cash at the time with me. I was only buying a drink in a bottle and no food. Only after I decide to buy something and only after he makes the purchase through at his register, do I then find out that he charged an extra fee for me in using a card. He did not tell me verbally that there was a fee, I only found out when I saw it as an additional fee on my receipt. I then asked him what is this extra fee. He then only physically pointed to a tiny sign on his register in very small, miniscule writing and said that is why, a fee. When I said to him, 2x, why could not you verbally tell me that instead of just physically pointing to a sign of miniscule writing, he just shook his head. I told him that I would not give him anymore business. I felt sorry for those who may also not be able to read that miniscule writing either. He is taking advantage of the public in this way. It is a shame, as I always have had respect for Villa Pizza especially when it was back at the Bridgewater Mall. read more

Nice variety of menu items, and excellent when it's fresh. The pizza sits out a little too long, however, and reheating it later doesn't work well with some of the variants. For example, the stuffed pizza was kind of gross when reheated, but the chicken parm was top notch stuff. After going to a Regal Cinemas matinee at 2:00 pm on a Saturday, pretty empty. Ordered 2 meatball slices for my 8 year old, a Sicilian slice for me. His two slices were large. That's the best I can say. The meatballs were chopped bits, not slices. Sauce thick, industrial tasting. Cheese was rancid tasting. My Sicilian was lacking; with a tasteless dough base. I had to stop at the nearby FedEx to drop off a package and needed a quick lunch. I stopped at Villa PIzza and indeed found a quick lunch. I had a slice of veggie pizza and a slice of pepperoni. They both tasted ok, but tasted like they had sat on the counter too long. it didn't stop me from eating them though. The place looks like it hasn't been updated since the 1980's. I first stumbled on this little pizza shop with my mother, when we were starving after shopping for two hours at Kohl's (almost next door). I LOVE their pizza. Being a huge fan of thin crusts, Villa has the perfect crust. Brick-oven toasted, crunchy on the outside, warm on the inside. Best of all, if you order a pie for take-out it's always hot and fresh. Unfortunately, I'm actually not a huge fan of pizza and I've only tried their original cheese pizza but it's definitely one of my home-town favorites. If I had to get pizza, I'd come here over Papa John's, Domino's, and Pizza Hut any day. Setting is extremely comfortable and clean. The location is almost perfect. It's loacted in a plaza, next to Kohl's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Target, Marshall's , Famous Footwear, and a Regal's Movie Theater across on the other side of the plaza. There's usually enough seating, good for family/small group seating or a date night with friends. It's also a good place to go if you have kids. I've gone here with my younger brother and sister before (13 yrs- and 10 yrs-old, respectively). Music is soft, farily quiet and relaxing noise level, and amiable staff. You can watch them make your pizza from behind the counter, and the smell is always fresh of warm bread and cheese. A single slice is around $3.25 but depending on what kind of pie you order, an entire pizza pie can range from $12 to $14. I say it's worth it. The slices are pretty big and I went with three other friends, we couldn't finish it. Definitely worth going if you want fresh pizza (I LOVE their thin-crust pizza here). My wife and I took my youngest daughter and her 11 friend for pizza before her party at Sky Zone. As I walked in one of the workers who claimed to be the owner was telling my wife she couldn't have a party here. The owner is very rude and obnoxious. I had a bottle of water and he tells me that if I want to drink it that I have to take my whole large pizza pie to go. In a day and age where everyone carries around drinking water, this was a little ridiculous. There were also no signs saying that outside beverages are not allowed. I would have gladly purchased drinks there (if I wanted a drink), but his attitude and rudeness was not acceptable. I was tempted to tell him to cancel my entire order and give me my money back, which I should have done because the pizza was not worth it.
